A very small amount of renegades Halloween headcanons that are probably not original

one year for halloween adrain dresses up as nightmare and nova dresses up as the sentinel. after that it became a popular couples costume.

ruby and oscar always go ALL OUT for halloween. they always have the best costume. they always match their costumes too.

nova would always have a horror movie marathon with the anarchists so now she and leroy spend most of halloween watching horror movies together on the couch.

for max's first halloween he has adrian design him an AMAZING costume and makes adrian, nova, and his dads decorate the ENTIRE house. oscar and ruby help because they love halloween.

Idk if anyone had noticed this before, but in Renegades, Adrian, Ruby, and Oscar are giving Nova de tour around hq, Nova is faking smiles and being happy and all that stuff, but the moment in where she meets Max and they start talking, the description is "Nova smile. Maybe it was the first real smile that crosses her face in all the day" or something like that, the point is, she loves Max with all her heart and it was always clear. And I just wanna put this out, bc how cute is that.

I need more interactions between them, I feel like Nova, Adrian, and Max (maybe even the rest of the gang) would cause so much headache to Simon and Hugh

Renegades summer headcanons

Every year the Everharts have a vacation for summer and Nova joins them

Nova pushes Adrian to the pool and then he pulls Nova with him

Ruby is all about red bathing suits and doing hot girl summer (tanning, gym)

Oscar plays in the pool like a little kid and Ruby loves it (even though she says it’s annoying)

Danna makes everyone play beach volleyball

I just tore through the whole trilogy this week and since Marissa Meyer has officially said there isn't any new Renegades content coming any time soon, I'm ITCHING to write a post-supernova pre-epilogue fic.

Like I just HAVE to know about Nova's complex grief over losing the anarchists despite them being a pretty shit family and her developing relationship with Adrian and reconciling with the rest of the team. And also society and the Renegades restructuring etc etc etc.

And all the fun silly things too!! Max finally being able to be a normal kid. Sterling and Jade are PRODIGIES now!!! That is one thing I haven't figured out is what would all these new abilities be??

But anyway PLEASE tell me people are still interested in the Renegades trilogy because I've already started plotting out so much of this fic and looked through a ton of old stuff in the tags on tumblr and ao3

Look. I know this is, like, incredibly niche, considering I’m talking symbolism in two very separate stories, but bear with me.

Ruby from Renegades. Her powers and codename. Jason Todd from the DCU. His story and codename. If you know what I’m talking about on both fronts, you already know what I’m saying, at least a little bit.

Brief explanation for the rest of you:

Ruby, alias Red Assassin (she’s never killed anyone, btw), has one super power: When she bleeds, her blood crystallizes into spikes. She makes use of this by being an incredibly efficient combatant, but her power also has symbolic depth. She is far more dangerous when injured than at any other time. Her powers symbolize the ferocity of a prey animal backed into a corner. They symbolize the rage of a victim.

Quick note: The injuries she sustained when she first gained her powers never healed, and they never stopped hurting. She’s had multiple stab wounds she had to keep bandaged since she was five years old.

On to the next part:

Jason, alias Red Hood, does not have super powers… at least not the type that can be used against humans (he can summon magic swords, but that’s irrelevant). He’s dangerous entirely because of his combat prowess and proficiency with a variety of weapons. His story, though, is a point of interest. He grew up in a place colloquially referred to as Crime Alley, spent time homeless, and then became a child vigilante when he was adopted by an adult vigilante. A couple years later, when he was fifteen, he was captured by a villain, tortured, and murdered. He woke up in his grave six months later, dug his way out, spent time on the streets catatonic from brain damage, was semi-adopted by assassins — it’s a long story, but the point is that his story holds much of the same meaning as Ruby’s powers. His motive for both vigilantism and some villainy starts with the fact that he has been hurt. He has the rage of a victim, and I am not the first person to say that.

Quick note: His scars and brain damage were erased by a magic thing (details are irrelevant) that also caused some, uh… I honestly don’t know what to call it. Sociopathy? Insanity? Whatever, there were mental effects. I think the severity/longevity of the effects is a fandom-popular misinterpretation, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, back to my original point:

Red Assassin, who has never killed, whose powers symbolize the danger of pushing someone too far. Those powers being sourced from severe injury, which has never left her.

Red Hood, who has killed, whose story shows the danger of pushing someone too far. His greatest weakness being sourced from the healing of injuries and erasing of scars.
