PM Modi Unveils Development Projects Worth Rs 1330 Crore in Goa

In a significant move towards bolstering infrastructure and welfare initiatives in Goa, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 1330 crore under the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 program. The ceremony, held today, witnessed the Prime Minister's active participation as he also undertook a walkthrough of the exhibition showcasing the projects. The highlights of the day's endeavours include the inauguration of the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology, Goa, marking a significant moment for educational advancement in the region. Additionally, the Prime Minister dedicated the new campus of the National Institute of Watersports, aimed at fostering the development of watersports and water rescue activities. Among the cornerstone initiatives is the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Passenger Ropeway, an ambitious project set to enhance tourism connectivity between Panaji and Reis Magos. Complementing this, the inauguration of a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant in South Goa further underscores the commitment to sustainable development in the state. In addressing employment needs, Prime Minister Modi distributed appointment orders to 1930 new government recruits across various departments during the Rozgar Mela, while also providing sanction letters to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, ensuring inclusive growth and empowerment at the grassroots level. Reflecting on Goa's cultural richness and historical significance, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the state's crucial role in fostering peace and communal harmony. He underscored the government's commitment to the holistic development of Goa, emphasising the importance of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" in achieving equitable progress. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the concept of 'saturation' as the cornerstone of true secularism and social justice, reiterating the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring the full transfer of benefits to all segments of society. In concluding remarks, Prime Minister Modi called for collective efforts towards Goa's rapid development, urging citizens to actively participate in the state's progress. Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute, along with the Ministry of Labour & Employment UP Govt, hosted a Mega Rozgar Mela 2023 that saw the participation of 50+ MNCs.

Over 5000 candidates took part in the Mega Rozgar Mela 2023, wherein after initial rounds of interview, the company’s shortlisted 500 candidates.

Along with this, on the eve of Kisan Jayanti (23 December), we felicitated 51 progressive farmers with the Chaudhary Charan Singh Kisan Samman/Memento for their services.

The Group Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri, Chief Guest & IFS Officer Mr MS Kanyal, CDO Mr. Ashwini Kumar Mishra & the Pro Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi inaugurated the fair by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.

The Project Director, Mr. Amrendra Pratap Singh, VC Dr Rakesh Yadav & the District Employment Officer, Dr. Sushil Kumar, joined them to inaugurate the mega job fair.

The Group Chairman, Dr Sudhir Giri, emphasized in his address that there are plenty of job opportunities for skilled professionals both in India and abroad.

This is because of initiatives like Skill India, Digital India, Mission Employment, and the NEP 2020 introduced by our honorable Prime Minister.

There is tremendous demand for Indians in IT, Management, healthcare, nursing & other sectors because of which India is emerging as the fastest growing economies of the world.

In the last 1 decade, unemployment has been vastly reduced owing to the employment oriented schemes of the GOI.

The CG Mr MS Kanyal affirmed being an IFS officer, I represented India in over a dozen countries of the world, including Europe. Apart from the USA, Britain, Canada & Australia, there is hardly any country in the world where Indians are not making their presence felt.

He asserted apart from Govt &. Private jobs, India is ahead than others in self-employment owing to the entrepreneur abilities of its youth.  

The CDO & Special Guest, Mr. Ashwini Kumar Mishra informed this is the biggest job fair ever organised in UP west.

The DEO, Dr Sushil Kumar, & the employment program Coordinator Dr. Laxman Singh also addressed the Mega Rozgar Meal 2023.

ROZGAR MELA AND UNEMPLOYMENT IN INDIA

The unemployment rate is the proportion of individuals without jobs within the labor force. 

The labor force encompasses those who provide or express willingness to provide labor for economic activities, covering both employed and unemployed individuals. 

As per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PFLS) 2017-18, India’s labor force exhibited a 6.1% unemployment rate, with 17.8% of youth aged 15-29 facing unemployment.

Reasons of Unemployment

Jobless Growth: A country’s GDP can increase without significant job creation or even with job losses. While GDP growth is necessary for job creation, it’s not enough.

Slow Manufacturing sector growth: India’s growth relies on the service sector, which is less labor-intensive than manufacturing. The manufacturing phase has provided limited well-paid jobs, especially for those with lower education and skills.

Skill Mismatch: There’s often a mismatch between the skills possessed by job seekers and the skills demanded by available job opportunities. This discrepancy results in unemployment even when there are vacancies.

Informal Sector Dominance: A significant portion of India’s economy operates in the informal sector, which often lacks stable jobs and social security benefits, leading to underemployment and insecurity.

Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour & Employment UP Govt, will conduct a Mega Rozgar Mela 2023 on December 22.

Dr. Rajiv Tyagi, the Pro Chancellor and Official representative of the Group Chairman, Dr. Sudhir Giri, made this announcement at a press conference.

The District Employment Officer, Dr. Sushil Kumar, joined him in making the announcement.

The Pro Chancellor Dr Rajiv Tyagi, DEO Dr. Sushil Kumar, VC Dr Rakesh Yadav, & the Job fair coordinator Dr Laxman Singh Rawat inaugurated the job fair press conference by lighting a lamp to Goddess Saraswati.

The Group Chairman Dr Sudhir Giri reiterated the country’s youth are realizing their dreams owing to the employment oriented schemes of the Central & state governments.

The Pro Chancellor, Dr Rajiv Tyagi, and DEO, Dr Sushil Kumar, announced that over 5000 candidates from UP will take part in a direct walk-in interview. Over 50 companies will then shortlist candidates for different roles based on their interview.

Renowned companies like Bajaj Motors, Flipkart, LIC, Apollo Hospital, Dabur India, Tata Motors, Bony Polymers, HCL etc. will recruit candidates in the mega Rozgar Mela on Dec 22.

These firms represent different sectors of IT, automobile, Ecommerce, healthcare, nursing, management consulting, legal firms, Agro industries, medical, paramedical, nursing, among others.

In the Job Fair, public representatives & bureaucrats will honour progressive farmers, promising players/students, nursing staff & Doctors for their exemplary services to the nation.
