Corollary to the important Dracula movies post, here's a more general recommended and/or representative vampire movie curriculum; there's some overlap between the two lists, of course.
This list does include my personal favorite vampire movies and sometimes it's skewed a little to my taste rather than to what's most important in the genre, but I also think it's 25 movies that would make a pretty interesting education in vampire film.
1922-1964 (fundamental, genre-defining)
Nosferatu (dir. F.W. Murnau, 1922)
Dracula (dir. Tod Browning, 1931)
Vampyr (dir. Carl Th. Dreyer, 1932)
Dracula's Daughter (dir. Lambert Hillyer, 1936)
Dracula/Horror of Dracula (dir. Terrence Fisher, 1958)
The Last Man on Earth (dir. Sidney Salkow, 1964)
1970-1982 (experimentation in multiple directions)
The Nude Vampire (dir. Jean Rollin, 1970)
The Vampire Lovers (dir. Roy Ward Baker, 1970)
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (dir. Jaromil Jires, 1970)
Daughters of Darkness (dir. Harry Kumel, 1971)
The Velvet Vampire (dir. Stephanie Rothman, 1971)
Dracula A.D. 1972 (dir. Alan Gibson, 1972)
Ganja & Hess (dir. Bill Gunn, 1973)
Blood for Dracula (dir. Paul Morissey, 1974)
Dracula (dir. John Badham, 1979)
Nosferatu (dir. Werner Herzog, 1979)
Fascination (dir. Jean Rollin, 1979)
The Living Dead Girl (dir. Jean Rollin, 1982)
1983-present (the contemporary vampire film, of various types)
The Hunger (dir. Tony Scott, 1983)
Near Dark (dir. Kathryn Bigelow, 1987)
Bram Stoker’s Dracula (dir. Francis Ford Coppola, 1992)
Interview with the Vampire (dir. Neil Jordan, 1994)
Shadow of the Vampire (dir. E. Elias Merhige, 2000)
Let the Right One In (dir. Thomas Alfredson, 2008)
Thirst (dir. Park Chan-Wook, 2009)
Byzantium (dir. Neil Jordan, 2012)
#certainly lost boys belongs on this list but somehow I still haven't seen it#also there's a case to be made for only lovers left alive but it rather annoys me and I don't want to think about it right now#movies#vampires#recs

i just found a blog from one of the devs of disco elysium (I don't know from where tho). It contains some designs of Harry, evrart, roy from the pawshop and so on. It also has a link to gameplay from the alpha (maybe on the same channel you can find more, I haven't dug in). And I want to mention Kim was supposed to have volition and endurance stats (you can see them above his portrait) and Cuno and C weren't by the tree yet.
In the dev blog there is also link to an interview with Rovert Kurvitz (without any spoiler). They mention the authority failure with Acele (one of my favourite honestly), and they talk about influences and give a general idea of the concept and ambiance but also the gameplay.
There is also a lot of text explaining the system of checks and the skills which I find very entertaining to read.
I wanted to highlight that at some point in development Lena was actually going to be a party member (but the wheelchair had a lot of problems in the map, and they wanted to center a lot on interactive dialogue which was expensive with only one party member).
And lastly, this amazing image of the blog
Some people surely know about all of this but I find it so cool to see the snippets of the game while it's still in development.
#I'll problably post more things about this#disco elysium#kim kitsuragi#harry du bois#lena the cryptologist wife#de meta#de skills#disco posting

It would also waste more money for AMC to cancel Mayfair Witches than keep it on and just retool it, after the money they spend obtaining the exclusive rights to the series. It's not taking money away from IWTV, so it's really no problem to keep it around.
expanding the universe?? Does this means they are planing more spinoff shows base do Anne Rice's work? I'm torn about this... obviously IWTV is mazing but Mayfair's was a total fail and should be cancelled imo it's a waste of budget and artistic resource for a horrible show.. wonder what else would they make in this universe...??
Yes, MW was sub par but they know that and stated they want to work on it. But sub par or not - it was a success for them, and ultimately that is good news for us as well!!
And the CEO talks about new shows (Talamasca, which was also teased at sdcc 2023, and Night Island(?) where there was an announcement a while back). Ari found it and highlighted some key points.
These are all good news!!!
Also, re the political climate: if you like, scroll through my SDCC 2023 tag... there were people outside PROTESTING in front of the Loumand poster. You cannot make that shit up.
#AMC owing to rights to all of this is like how Disney owns the Star Wars and Marvel rights#Or like how WB owns the Harry Potter and DC Comics rights#I'm sure AMC is determined to get some kind of ROI after the money the spent to acquire them.#no matter if Season 1 of Mayfair Witches didn't work#cheaper to retool it than cancel it#Mayfair Witches#Interview with the Vampire#amc iwtv#iwtv#amc mw#mw#AMC#AMC+

BRF Reading - 20th of November, 2024
This is speculation only
Cards drawn on the 20th of November, 2024
Question: Is King Charles stopping the British media from reporting on Meghan's 'pregnancies'?
Note: I have a very hard time believing what I am getting from the cards. I want to revisit this in a week or so and just check my results, so be aware that this answer could change.
Interpretation: Yes
Card One: The Six of Pentacles
This is the card of charity, of giving and receiving material help, of generosity, community, and support. The energy here is of someone asking and receiving a favour from those in power - getting something that is of benefit to them in return for future benefits to those that granted the request.
I think that this is King Charles asking the British press not to go public with what they know about Meghan's 'pregnancies', in return for future favours from The King - I feel like those are more media access to certain events or more interviews or something like that. There is a sense of a time limit on the favour, as if the media has said OK we will hold off until this date or this event or for x number of years but not beyond that. I'm not getting legal energy, although that could be involved, but this card is speaking of a quid pro quo arrangement - a 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' sort of thing. Pentacles is the suit of material wealth and status, so maybe some honours have been promised? I can't think of what else might be involved in this arrangement. I don't think it is so obvious as handing over x amount of money to do y, it feels more informal? gentleman's agreement? less obvious and traceable? than that.
Card Two: The Sun
The Sun upright is a 'yes' card in the tarot, so this could be a 'yes' to my question.
Usually I get 'favoured child' energy from the Sun card, but this time I'm not. Instead I am getting regal energy - kingly energy.
I keep hearing 'Le roi est mort, vive le roi !' in French, with the strong association of The King to the Sun. I'm thinking of King Louis XIV, the Sun King, and how he believed himself to be the direct representative of God on earth and as such he had a divine right to wield the power of the monarchy, and how he deliberately chose the Sun as his symbol to convey this association - an infallible Sun-King - and I'm reminded that King Charles is also said to believe in the divine right of Kings.
So maybe King Charles sees it as his right to stop the news about Meghan's pregnancies being released in the press? The energy of this card is of a King who believes that he is entitled to ?privileges that other people don't have? It's hard to put into words - a Sun King, someone who is above the law, who sees everything he does as right because he is the anointed king - it is that sort of thinking that is behind this agreement. I keep wanting to write 'interference' or 'deliberately blocking of bad news' but I can't because the energy is of someone who doesn't see his actions that way - it is someone who sees his actions as the right thing to do and not harmful or destructive or hurtful in any way. They are 100% convinced that they are right and therefore whatever they do is also right. It's an alien mindscape to me and one I find very hard to express clearly.
Card Three: The Hermit
This is the card for Prince Harry, and it is giving me Prince Harry energy. Here he is, in the dark, sheltering behind the fire and heat of the Sun his father. If The King is doing this (and I still want to check to make sure I am not misinterpreting things), then he is doing it to protect Harry, not Meghan. He is hoping that Harry will learn some wisdom from this and that the affair can be covered up or dealt with privately so Harry will not be impacted by this in the future.
Underlying Energy: The Page of Swords in Reverse
Pages are communication and messages. Swords is an air suit, so communication through the air, i.e. the internet, the radio etc. The Page of Swords can be an immature communication energy, so more gossip and celebrity news than serious stuff, particularly malicious or petty gossip, and that fits the news about Meghan's pregnancies.
The card is in the reverse, so the news is stopped, halted, can't get out for some reason.
Having this as an underlying energy confirms that stopping some news from spreading is the reason behind the actions in the reading.
Conclusion:
As much as I don't want to believe it, it looks like The King has entered into some sort of agreement with the press to stop the news about Meghan's pregnancies coming out, an agreement that feels like it has an expiry date and one that is based on an exchange of favours, although I'm not sure what the newspapers get out of this. The King is doing this to protect Harry, not Meghan, and there is a sense of hope that Harry will learn from this experience (my comment is hope springs eternal, even when it has never happened before). The energy os that The King doesn't think that he is doing anything bad or shady by making this agreement, instead he thinks it is right ??because he is doing it?? or because he thinks that he is right and therefore his actions are right as well - it's a hard energy for me to comprehend and express.
I will be revisiting this question and checking to see if this is right, as I find it hard to believe that The King would go this far in protecting his son.

from The New York Times...
Inside Meghan’s Real Kitchen, Away From the Cameras...
Cooking with the Duchess of Sussex as she navigates her rebrand from recovering royal to domestic goddess.
By Julia Moskin
Julia Moskin interviewed Meghan in her home kitchen in Montecito, Calif.
April 2, 2025Updated 12:25 p.m. ET
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is already anticipating pushback on her banana pudding.
“I know some people will be upset that I took out the wafers,” she said, crushing Nilla wafers with a rolling pin rather than layering them in with vanilla pudding and sliced bananas. “But I like them crumbled on top.”
On a bright morning last week at her home in Montecito, Calif., Meghan roved between the garden, where Prince Harry stopped by the strawberry patch in Birkenstocks to say he was getting on a work call, and the vast, well-worn kitchen where her mother, Doria Ragland — graceful in jeans, white T-shirt and silver nose ring — rummaged for breakfast in the double-wide refrigerator.
“Grandma Jeanette would have used instant,” Meghan said, referring to Ms. Ragland’s mother, as they tasted a batch of homemade pudding flecked with vanilla. “But she would have loved this.”

Last month, in a new Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” the duchess gave the world its first look at the remake of her life from broken royal bride to triumphant domestic goddess. She and Harry fled Britain and its relentless criticism in 2020 to settle as a family in this safe, sunny, affluent enclave. But the show has brought some of that darkness back to her door.
Like Gwyneth Paltrow, Chrissy Teigen and other celebrities who have cooking and lifestyle brands, Meghan doesn’t have professional culinary training. Last week’s visit — the first time a reporter was invited into her kitchen — showed that she is a passionate home cook who knows her way around a vinaigrette, is quick with a lemon zester and deft with a knife. (I was allowed in on the condition that no photographs were taken in, or of, the house, for reasons of privacy and security.)
At 43, with boundless enthusiasm and big Charlotte York energy, she is still figuring out her public identity, while pitching it to a global audience. Her decision to do so may read to some as entrepreneurial or endearing or narcissistic, but you can’t say it isn’t a big swing.
It’s about to get bigger. On Wednesday morning, sales went live for As Ever, Meghan’s line of food products priced from $12 to $15, including baking mixes, honeys and internet-famous jams — which, to her dismay, are labeled “fruit spreads” because of F.D.A. regulations. They all sold out within an hour, a spokeswoman said.(The brand was initially announced as American Riviera Orchard, but was reportedly changed after trademark challenges.)
Last week, Meghan announced that she would host a new podcast series, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” and started a ShopMy channel where fans can buy the clothing and products they see her in onscreen, from head (Lottabody’s Control Me Edge Gel) to toe (CND Shellac).

“With Love, Meghan” presents her in a series of idyllic scenes (none of which were shot in this kitchen — a nearby house was used as a studio), cooking, crafting and planning tea parties. But anyone who thought that truffle popcorn and balloon arches would be uncontroversial was wrong.
When the show appeared, the millions who have long felt entitled to critique Meghan as a member of the British royal family were free to judge her as a wife, mother, cook, decorator and hostess. And many did, calling her saccharine, inauthentic and uninspiring. She was compared to Hannah Neeleman of Ballerina Farm and other influencers riding the tradwife wave, who glamorize old-fashioned “women’s work,” like feeding chickens and cooking breakfast, that many women have no desire to return to.
The best episodes frame Meghan as a respectful student of chefs like Alice Waters and Roy Choi. In others, she is the teacher, demonstrating recipes like pasta salad and entertaining tips to a series of friends, who are charged with showing enthusiasm while she hands them a raw fish or ties a bow on a gift bag of peanut-butter-stuffed pretzels. Those episodes came in for the most mockery.
Some criticism was more pointed: Social media posts zeroed in on her Le Creuset pots, claiming they were too expensive for many Black women to afford and more ostentatious than traditional cast-iron. In response, Black women began posting photos of their extensive Le Creuset collections online. The journalist Michele Norris came to Meghan’s defense, asking: “Why is anyone surprised or disturbed that she would have beautiful color coordinated cookware? Does anyone drag Ina or Martha for their cookware?”
In an interview, she noted that singling Meghan out for not using her “real” kitchen is also illogical. “Every set is a performative kitchen,” said Ms. Norris, who hosts a podcast about cuisine and culture. “I think she manages to present an authentic version of herself within that artificial space. What’s so bad about someone wanting to share their joy?”

“Everybody has somebody or something they want her to be,” said the chef Carla Hall, who was a model before she was a chef, and whose culinary credentials were also questioned when she started her television career. “There’s no winning that game.”
Which raises a question: Why would someone who has for years endured the worst kind of public attention put herself back under the microscope?
One reason, of course, is money. The production deal Meghan and Harry signed with Netflix in 2020 ends this year, and most of their other recent efforts — documentaries about polo and Harry’s Invictus games — flopped. But Netflix is betting on her: The show has already shot a second season, and the company is an investor in her As Ever brand.
And despite the criticism, in the past month millions of fans have showed up for her. According to Netflix, the show was in the top 10 in 24 countries in the week after the premiere, with 2.6 million views. Many of the clothes on Meghan’s ShopMy page sold out within hours or days. Since Jan. 1, when she started a fresh Instagram account (she deleted the old one shortly before marrying into the royal family), she has gained 2.7 million followers.
The other reason is personal. “I need to work, and I love to work,” she said, pointing out that until she met Harry, she hadn’t been without a job since she was 13. With two young children to raise, she said, “This is a way I can connect my home life and my work.” (Prince Archie is 5 and Princess Lilibet is 3; they are sixth and seventh in line to the throne.)
She’s hoping to do that without feeding the fires of tabloid headlines and online gossip. Befitting a global brand chief, members of her team comb comment sections and social media so she doesn’t have to. When I told her about the Le Creuset controversy, she was baffled. “This is a thing, in 2025?” she said, throwing up her hands and turning to her mother.
“Everyone is coming in hot these days,” Ms. Ragland, 68, said calmly. Then the women moved on to discussing more important business, like whether a person needs an air fryer, why immersion blenders are so good for soup and whether Grandma Jeanette filled her hand pies with dried or fresh apples.

Meghan is upbeat, charming and always on message when fielding questions from a reporter. But she is clearly bothered by accusations that she is unrelatable and out of touch. She may be living a fairy tale, but not all that long ago, she was a not-very-famous actress on a medium-popular TV series. She was divorced, in her mid-30s and unsure where her next job or home would be.
“Don’t they know my life hasn’t always been like this?” she said, gesturing at the sweeping views and sleeping dogs.
A Cook’s Progress
When Meghan was growing up in Los Angeles, her mother worked long hours and had little time for home cooking. But Ms. Ragland was raised with a strong food tradition.
Her father, Alvin, had roots in Tennessee. “My father carried a bottle of Red Rooster hot sauce everywhere he went,” she said.
For her mother, Jeanette, as for many Black women of her time, cooking and gardening skills were a given. At home in the Crenshaw neighborhood, Meghan said, her grandmother grew collard greens and tomatoes in the yard, whipped up hand pies from scratch after dinner and did nearly all her cooking in one cast-iron skillet.
As a self-described latchkey kid, whose parents were divorced, Meghan loved to pick up fast food — Jack in the Box curly fries were a favorite — and go home to watch back-to-back cooking shows on Food Network. “Or I’d go to Grandma Jeanette’s after school,” she said. “She made the best after-school snack: Kraft grilled cheese on white Wonder bread,” Meghan recalled, dreamily. “All that butter.”
Ms. Ragland’s work as a travel agent meant that the two took frequent weekend trips, trying out Oaxacan street food and Jamaican roadside jerk, and sought out Thai restaurants around Los Angeles.
Meghan started cooking for friends as an undergraduate at Northwestern University, with a Rachael Ray recipe for grilled cheese sandwiches upgraded with fontina cheese and sliced pears.
“At 20, in a tiny little apartment in Evanston, serving that sandwich and a bottle of Two-Buck Chuck — that was when Trader Joe’s was getting big — we all thought it was so fancy,” she said.

In the years that followed, she threw dinner parties in Toronto, where the series “Suits” was shooting, started a lifestyle blog called the Tig and taught Prince Harry how to roast a chicken. (Ina Garten’s Perfect Roast Chicken, to be specific, which they were making together when he proposed.)
She used her short-lived royal platform to conceive and publish “Together: Our Community Cookbook,” a collection of recipes by women who lost family members in Grenfell Tower, the West London high-rise that was consumed by a catastrophic fire in 2017. In a Substack newsletter last month, the royal chronicler and Meghan skeptic Tina Brown described the book as a moment “when her culinary and lifestyle interests fused with an authentic charitable initiative” and “a PR slam dunk.”
Chicken Nuggets to Chantilly Cream
A hundred miles north — and a world away — from her grandmother’s kitchen, Meghan rinsed strawberries from the garden, sliced and macerated them in sugar, lemon juice and zest to layer in with the pudding and banana slices.
Unlike the sleek white kitchen in the show, this kitchen — designed and built by the previous owners — has a weathered wooden island (in addition to a marble one), a well-used Viking stove and classic accents of blue-and-white tiles.
There’s an old-fashioned butler’s pantry with cabinets holding glasses and tea sets, and a modern pantry stuffed with carefully organized ingredients and snacks. Shelves hold cookbooks by Giada De Laurentiis, Yotam Ottolenghi and Toni Tipton-Martin, and a well-thumbed copy of “From Seed to Skillet,” the 2010 classic by the celebrity gardener Jimmy Williams about creating and cooking from a home garden. And just outside the door, a framed picture of Harry as a boy with his mother, Princess Diana, holds pride of place.
Meghan is quick to admit she has a lot to learn. The house is equipped with two pizza ovens that are mostly dormant, and she said her first attempt at sourdough bread was both boring and traumatic enough to send her back to bakeries.
“There are professionals who do that better than I ever will,” she said.
When it’s just her and the kids for dinner, she said, she often relies on chicken nuggets, veggie burgers and Tater Tots (the freezer is stuffed with them).

What may help her stand out in the crowded field of food influencing is her eye for detail. Calligraphy and gift-wrapping skills she developed to pick up extra money are now put to work in leveling layer cakes and fluffing salads, just so. She truly cares which direction the radishes are pointing on the charcuterie board, and she really does sometimes transfer takeout food onto serving dishes (I have seen the platters).
To finish the pudding, she got out the hand mixer to make Chantilly cream — the vanilla-spiked, sweetened whipped cream that would give the dessert its name: Chantilly Lili, after the 3-year-old redhead who had just arrived home.
Ms. Ragland said she still wasn’t convinced that she needed a hand mixer of her own; she has a KitchenAid stand mixer at home in Los Angeles. The duchess rolled her eyes at her mother, as daughters do.
“My mom still has Grandma Jeanette’s cast-iron skillet,” she whispered to me. “That’s what I really want.”

I’ll tell you one of my big concerns at the moment through the euphoria [about Harris]. I love team sports and think that you can learn a lot about life from them. It’s like we were 12 points behind and all of a sudden we made a huge run and now we’ve tied the score. A lot of teams are so happy about the fact they caught up that they forget to finish the job. That’s what I don’t want us to do here.

A: "No, unequivocally. My decision to choose Coach Walz as my running mate was not influenced by racial or identity politics. It was about finding someone who shares my vision, my values, who has a proven track record of bringing people together to get things done, and can be a little fun while doing it. Tim is an experienced leader, a former educator, and a person who has dedicated his life to public service. I considered many exceptional individuals for this role, including leaders like Governor Whitmer, clearly if I considered a second woman identity politics weren't at play. What mattered most in my decision was finding the right person to help lead this country, someone who understands the challenges we face and who can help unify our nation during these divided times.Moving forward, I hope we can reach a point where questions like this are no longer necessary because our focus should be on qualifications, character, and the ability to lead, not just the identity of the individuals. Tim is the right choice!" Q: "Is HBCU funding for schools like NC A&T a priority for your administration, given your personal background?" A: "Well, let me just say, I think it’s pretty clear where my priorities lie, considering I attended an HBCU myself! I'm thankful for my Howard experience every day. And let’s not forget, my running mate, Governor Walz, is a former educator. So yes, HBCU funding is not just a priority—it’s a personal commitment. HBCUs have played a crucial role in shaping leaders, innovators, and changemakers in our country for generations. They provide not just education but also a sense of community, pride, and identity. Our administration is committed to ensuring that HBCUs have the resources they need to continue their legacy of excellence."
Charlotte, NC Below are one quote from Governor Cooper, one from Governor Walz, and two from Vice President Harris that are from the remarks made at today's rally. "North Carolina is not just a battleground state; it’s the proving ground for our democracy. We’ve been underestimated before, but we know that when we stand together, nothing can stop us. We’re going to fight for every vote, every voice, because the future of our country depends on it. Now let me welcome to the stage the next Vice President of the United States of America, Tim Walz!" - Governor Roy Cooper "We are the underdogs in this race, but we’ve got something far more powerful than any poll or pundit’s prediction: the will of the people. We’re not going back to the days of division and chaos. Together, we’re building a future that unites us, and we’re not backing down from the fight because every American deserves a better tomorrow." - Governor Tim Walz
"Donald Trump is a threat to everything we hold dear—our values, our democracy, our future. But let me tell you this: we are stronger than fear, stronger than hate, and we’re going to prove that in every corner of North Carolina and across this great nation." - Vice President Kamala Harris "We’re not here to make America go back to some imagined ‘great’ past. We’re here to build a future that’s better for everyone. We’re not MAGA, we’re moving forward, and we’re not going to stop until every North Carolinian has a voice in that future. We’re not going back!"- Vice President Kamala Harris

By Yair Rosenberg
A politician designed in a lab to help Democrats win pivotal Rust Belt swing states would probably look a lot like Josh Shapiro. In 2016, when Donald Trump won Pennsylvania by less than 1 percent of the vote, Shapiro was elected attorney general by nearly 3 percent. In 2020, when Joe Biden won the state by one point, Shapiro won reelection by more than four points. And in 2022, the Democrat took the governorship by a whopping 15 percent.
Today, Shapiro’s favorability in Pennsylvania stands at a commanding 61 percent, far outstripping Kamala Harris’s 49 percent in the state. Leaks from the Republican camp suggest that party strategists see the governor as one of their most formidable potential adversaries in a presidential campaign. There’s just one problem.
"He’s Jewish," CNN’s John King noted last week, so "there could be some risk in putting him on the ticket." In fact, Shapiro might be the most visibly Jewish elected official in America: He keeps kosher, has weekly Shabbat dinner with his family, and even quotes Jewish scripture in his political speeches. The sole race he ever lost was for student-body president at his Jewish day school.
Events have borne out King’s concern. Today, Shapiro is the only veep contender subject to an organized campaign to capsize his prospective nomination. Put together by hard-left congressional staffers and members of Democratic Socialists of America, among others, the push is ostensibly about Shapiro’s support for Israel. "Tell Kamala and the Democrats now," reads the site NoGenocideJosh.com, "say no to Genocide Josh Shapiro for Vice President."
"I personally believe Benjamin Netanyahu is one of the worst leaders of all time," Shapiro told reporters in January, months before Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for the Israeli leader to resign. At the time, Shapiro also pressed for an "immediate two-state solution," something Netanyahu and his hard-right government stridently oppose. The anti-Shapiro campaign ignores these remarks but makes much of the governor’s comparison of campus Gaza protesters to "people dressed up in KKK outfits." When he said that in an interview, however, Shapiro was distinguishing between bigoted extremists—such as the Columbia campus-protest leader who called for killing "Zionists"—and peaceful demonstrators, about whom the governor has said, "It’s right for young people to righteously protest and question."
Now consider the other vice-presidential contenders. Arizona’s Senator Mark Kelly leads the Democratic-nominee prediction markets along with Shapiro. Like the Pennsylvania governor, Kelly also supported using police to break up campus encampments. "Everybody has the right to protest peacefully,” he said, “but when it turns into unlawful acts—we’ve seen this in a number of colleges and universities, including here in Arizona—it’s appropriate for the police to step in.” In the same interview, Kelly said that the Israelis “have to do a better job” reducing civilian casualties in Gaza, but drew on his military experience to explain the difficulty of that task, and emphasized that “Hamas, without question, is the biggest impediment to peace in the Middle East.” Last week, Kelly attended Netanyahu’s address to Congress and applauded.
Unlike Shapiro, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper didn’t simply enforce preexisting state laws against boycotts of Israel while in office—he signed one himself in 2017. This month, Cooper codified into state law a definition of anti-Semitism that has been adopted by many countries around the world, but that left-wing critics argue penalizes speech critical of Israel. Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, flew state flags at half-mast after October 7 and did not respond to activists who called on the state to divest from Israel. Some were arrested after protesting outside his residence.
That all of these politicians support Israel should not come as a surprise. After all, Harris is searching for a moderate to help her win swing voters in states that are currently polling in the Trump column. Although some Democrats have grown more critical of Israel, Americans back the country by a two-to-one margin and oppose the recent campus protests, which means that any VP nominee considered by Harris would likely share such views.
And yet, activists have not organized in force to discredit any of the non-Jewish contenders for vice president on these grounds. There are no viral memes against “Killer Kelly” or “War-Crimes Walz.” Either the activists involved are extraordinarily lazy and never thought to investigate the other VP possibilities, or they think that Jews are uniquely untrustworthy. Seen in context, the “Genocide Josh” campaign and its tendentious reading of Shapiro’s record look less like a legitimate political critique than a rigged litmus test imposed on the Jewish lawmaker alone.
Sadly, this selective stigmatization isn’t new to progressive politics. In 2021, the Washington, D.C., branch of the climate-action group Sunrise Movement pulled out of a voting-rights rally because of the participation of three American Jewish groups. All three were known for their progressive domestic-policy advocacy and supported a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But the D.C. chapter of Sunrise nonetheless argued for their exclusion because the groups were “Zionist.”
The large majority of supporters of Israel and Zionism throughout history have been—like President Biden—not Jewish. Yet the Sunrise branch made no demands of the many non-Jewish groups at the rally; they effectively carded only Jews at the door. The organization later apologized and called the incident “an opportunity to grow.” That growth seems to have been stunted. Today, the national Sunrise Movement is echoing the rhetoric of the “Genocide Josh” campaign, while it has remained mum on the Israel stances of all other VP contenders.
It has become hard to escape the conclusion that some of the activists imposing this inquisition have a problem not just with Israel or Zionism but with Jews, who they assume are serving a foreign power, no matter what they’ve actually said or done. Historically, this is nothing new. The white-nationalist right has long sought to stigmatize American Jews as subversive and exclude them from political life, arguing that Jews are loyal only to their own kind. In this case, however, some on the progressive left are the ones treating Jewish identity as inherently suspect and holding Jewish political actors to a different standard than their non-Jewish counterparts.
The irony of this whole affair is that Shapiro has actually been more outspoken against Israel’s leadership than Biden or Harris. Few Rust Belt governors would publicly rebuke the prime minister of a foreign country, let alone that of an ally like Israel. But Shapiro knows a thing or two about the subject, which is why he feels comfortable assailing both Netanyahu for thwarting peace and extremist campus protesters for engaging in anti-Semitism. The two positions are not contradictory except to binary thinkers who treat the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a partisan sport, and whose understanding of the issue derives from social-media slogans. Marooned in their moralism, the “Genocide Josh” brigade misses what makes Shapiro so interesting.
The truth is that whatever Shapiro’s views, a Jewish vice president would function in precisely the opposite manner from what these critics fear. Far from a sinister Semitic Svengali suborning the president to an Israeli agenda, a Jewish veep would be trotted out to defend Harris in her inevitable conflicts with Israel’s right-wing government, and to insulate the boss from charges of anti-Semitism. As one Republican Senate staffer put it to Jewish Insider last week, if Shapiro is picked, “forget about claiming we’re the only party standing against anti-Semitism.”
The perverse politics of Jewish identity are one reason I’ve never been enthusiastic about the prospect of a Jewish president or vice president. Anti-Semitism conceives of Jews as clandestine puppeteers who control the world’s governments and economies, fueling political and social problems. A Jewish vice president would provide the perfect canvas for these fevered fantasies—a largely ceremonial figure onto whom bigots could nonetheless project all of their conspiracies, casting him as the real power behind the Resolute Desk.
Harris would be foolish to discard any compelling VP option over their views on an intractable foreign-policy conflict thousands of miles away, while Americans stare down the prospect of another Trump presidency here at home. With the polls as tight as they are, and her campaign starting from behind, she is unlikely to choose her running mate based on unrepresentative online outrage rather than cold electoral calculus. If she picks a Jewish vice president, it will be for his impact on the Electoral College—not the Middle East.
After publication, a spokesperson for Sunrise clarified that the group does not support the "Genocide Josh" campaign, and that its tweet on the subject of Harris's pick--which was shared by the "Genocide Josh" X account--was "intended to be talking about issues, not individuals."

INTRO POST (Last update: 05/07/2025)
Hi, y'all can call me Domy. With more "gendered" languages I use feminine pronouns, but in more neutral languages like English I use they/she. You can use whichever you want, one or both, it's your call. I just ask to use neutral nouns like someone, somebody, person, individual etc or mix them up with woman, man, bruh, girl, dude, bro etc. I understand sometimes languages are complicated, so I don't care that much about the pronouns specifically. Still, if someone *goes out of their way* to always and only use feminine nouns instead of varying them or using neutral terms, that's *intentionally* misgendering and I won't accept that. In case you have doubts, feel free to message me and I'll appreciate the effort to be respectful.
I also won't allow any queerphobia, misogyny, racism, colorism, xenophobia, ableism or bigotry of any kind here. Be it against me, a mutual, one person, multiple people, strangers, even fictional characters or celebrities. I don't care if they aren't real or cannot see it, someone else can and might get hurt, so I won't tolerate it in any way. Even if it's someone I hate and consider mean, that doesn't give anyone a pass to offend a whole group of people. You don't fight bigotry with more bigotry, period. I'll block anybody who does that on my messages or posts, even if it's someone I interacted with before. I hope that's clear.
I'm passionate about music, books, television and movies. I can and usually do go on rambling about my favorite things. I'm always looking for art that makes me obsessed and not just a casual listener/viewer/reader. I want to enjoy stuff intensely. One of my favorite things ever is to consume art and discuss it for minutes or even hours. Sometimes I'm more into it than going out, that's how much I love it. If you want, you can chat with me about our common interests. I always welcome and enjoy that, so you'll never see me unhappy about getting messages. 🙃💗
My interests:
♡ Faouzia, Demi Lovato, My Chemical Romance, Interview With the Vampire, Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt, Claudia, Daniel Molloy, Armand, Loustat (Louis x Lestat), Stranger Things, Will Byers, Byler (Will x Mike), Pose, The Last of Us, Joel Miller, Game of Thrones, Brienne of Tarth, Jaime Lannister, Braime (Jaime + Brienne), Severance, The Handmaid's Tale, The Mandalorian, Din Djarin, Grogu, Mandomera (Din x Omera), Ted Lasso, Jamie Tartt, Royjamie (Roy x Jamie), Dickinson, Emisue (Emily x Sue), Shadow and Bone, Malina (Mal x Alina), Smallville, Chloe Sullivan, Chlark (Chloe x Clark), The Good Doctor, Claire Browne, Shaire (Shaun x Claire), Jane the Virgin, Villadero/Cordueva/Cordenueva (Jane x Michael), A Song of Ice and Fire, Jaime Lannister, Brienne of Tarth, Cersei Lannister, Sansa Stark, Catelyn Stark, Tommen Baratheon, Podrick Payne, Middle Earth books and movies, The Vampire Chronicles, Armand, Lestat de Lioncourt, Maharet, Gabrielle de Lioncourt, Bianca, Lesmand/Armandstat (Lestat + Armand), Armand + Bianca, Armand & Riccardo, New Tales of the Vampires, Pandora, Vittorio, Pandora + Flavius, Vittorio x Ursula, the Shadow and Bone trilogy, Alina Starkov, Mal Oretsev, Malina (Mal x Alina). ♡
Too early to tell, but I'm really excited to see and might fall in love with when it happens:
Lesmand/Armandstat, Armandiel/Armandaniel/Devil's Minion (show).
I neither hate them nor love them, I feel absolutely nothing with their quotes, fanarts etc., I don't have major feelings about them, just total neutrality:
Armandiel/Armandaniel/Devil's Minion (books).
Not really my thing (either because I am low-key uninterested or straight-up hate them and/or their fandoms):
Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Tate McRae, Conan Gray, 5 Seconds of Summer, whisper singing, baby voice, many current singers specially for those reasons (I usually prefer vocalists), celebrities and their personal drama in general, The Darkling, Darklina (books/show), people that reduce stories to only one character/one ship (in any fandom, but mostly IWTV/TVC/Stranger Things), entitled people that think their interpretation and theories are an undeniable truth and are arrogant to others, fans that are weird about "Jam Reiderson" (I love them, but they're also individuals, not a package, Sam is dating, Jacob is married with kids and their personal lives are nobody's business... learn to be respectful and decent people ffs), Marius de Romanus, David Talbot, Rowan Mayfair, Louis de Pointe du Lac (The Vampire Chronicles), Fitzgerald "Fitz" Grant III (Scandal), Tony Goldwyn, Rafael Solano (Jane the Virgin), Lea Dilallo (The Good Doctor), Sophie (This Is Us), Alexandra Breckenridge, Dan Fogelman, Lana Lang, Clois (Smallville), Galadriel (Rings of Power), Morfydd Clark, Rings of Power, Buddie (9-1-1), Jonhlock (Sherlock BBC), Destiel (Supernatural), The White Lotus, Succession, House M.D., Yellowjackets.
What I look for:
Soulful, raw, earnest, intense and cathartic performers. The type to pour their heart, mind, body and soul into everything they do to the point of exhaustion because they leave it all on stage, the studio or the page. And people that are as passionate about those people/things as I am, so we can ramble together and bond. ♡
P.S. None of the names mentioned are in a particular order.
I have other interests too, but some don't have a big fandom, the fans are too problematic, been finished a long time ago, I don't remember very well, I'm rusty on the lore or there's another reason for me to not talk as much about them here.
Also, I'll keep updating this whenever I have something to add/remove from this post.

“it’s his job not to be soft” is crazy when a) what in the toxic masculinity, b) he was yelling at them in the second half, and c) he was brimming with anger in the post match interview saying it was unacceptable … it’s honestly a bit sickening time and time again to see all these micro aggressions against sonny. especially ppl who compare him with kane like why is kane shown so much grace for his bad games and sonny is not lmfao despite being instrumental in possibly our greatest achievement since 2008 (cl run). think we all know why really
like it's fine to say 'cor sonny was shit today' because he was, and it's fine to say if he's on a bad run of form too such as times like last season (not his fault) but this person was also questioning his commitment to club and the team... im sorry but you just cannot ask for more from a player. he's one of the committed players to the club i've ever seen, and even if kane had stayed there was no other candidate for the captaincy in my opinion. it HAD to be sonny. i have never once looked at him and thought he was lacking any effort, not even last season when there was a few players who i wasn't sure were quite putting their all in (understandable, they were playing under conte after all)
and yeah so what if sonny isn't a shouty person? players are allowed to have a 'softer' personalty. we know sonny has such a good relationship with his teams mates on and off the pitch that they'll all run through a brick wall for him. he's the bridge between all the players and language etc... people were also a bit like this with hugo as if he wasnt vocal on the pitch and would be angry when needed in interviews like sonny - people seemed under the impression he never fucking spoke lmao. there's also been some talk around this in how people talk about odegaard and his captaincy too... just because a player doesn't go around CONSTANTLY shouting a la henderson or roy fucking keane like its still the 90s doesn't mean they're not a good leader for being 'soft' it just means they have a different leadership style and personality and there's nothing wrong with that. there's definitely some racism when it comes to people thinking sonny's soft, imo. (it's also funny when you consider that rival fans think that sonny is some horrible dirty player who goes around trying to purposefully injure players because of a spell where he was petulant and got 2 reds and then his foul that lead to aurier breaking gomes' ankle... 2 completely differently views of him lmao)
look, i'll always love kane for all the goals but yeah, he really could do no wrong in a lot of spurs fans eyes. even when he went on strike. like COME ON, no other player would have been forgiven so quickly after that, and no other player wouldnt have it held against them. going back to the commitment thing, sonny would NEVER EVER pull a stunt like that. it's really annoying that people don't see that sonny is just as - if not more- committed to us than harry was. he could have pushed for a move every summer for the past 5 years and hasn't. sonny ALWAYS stepped up in kane's absence (as seen in the champions league that year). can't even say kane was afforded extra grace because he's an academy lad when you look at how our fans have treated other academy players over the years so what does that leave... i don't think people quite realise they're doing it, tbh (same with the 'soft' comments)

fic recs batch 6/13/2025 - part 2
Fandom: Enchanted Forest Chronicles - Patricia C. Wrede
The Balance of Affection, by RecessiveJean Rating: Gen Ship: Cimorene/Mendenbar Word count: 6k Status: Complete Summary: The King and Queen of the Enchanted Forest haven't shared a bed in more than a decade. Not that it's any of your business, really. My bookmark: Post-series, Mendenbar, Cimorene, and Daystar adjust to their new circumstances. I enjoyed this very much.
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
terrible ideas, by gracelesso, silentwalrus Rating: Explicit Ship: Roy/Ed Word count: 22k Status: Complete Summary: In which Ed gets high, and Roy gets bothered. My bookmark: SO funny, I was literally crying laughing while reading this.
Madame Christmas' Palace of Pleasures: Psychiatric Counseling Division, by silentwalrus Rating: Mature Ship: Roy/Ed, past Ed/OMC Word count: 6k Status: Complete Summary: It’s not the worst break-up. But between the realization that him only ever calling his boyfriend Elric and his boyfriend only ever calling him Brad might say something about the nature of their relationship, and the realization that Elric treated him with the same level of baffled amused affection as he did his brother’s cat, even, especially, in, and around the times they were having sex — anyway, there was a reason why it was better for both of them to break up. My bookmark: (sequel to terrible ideas) Ed’s ex-boyfriend tries to get over him, with questionable results. Roy does not help.
Fandom: Game of Thrones
*fav*you're in my blood like holy wine, by magneticwave Rating: Explicit Ship: Jon/Sansa, Arya/Gendry, Arianne/Jeyne Word count: 73k Status: Complete Summary: Sansa finds it difficult to look at Jon’s face, with its weathered lines and cragginess. It is the face of the North and a face that northerners trust; the face of Sansa’s brothers and her father, who had been loved and respected by their tenants as their forefathers had been when they were kings. How can Sansa feel anything but resentment, looking into that face and knowing that all of her years of hard work will never earn her the respect that that profile engenders within seconds? But she does. It is a small, burning coal of something that must be smothered. My bookmark: Long, superbly well written, absolutely delightful Jonsa Regency AU fic. Highly recommend!
Fandom: Harry Potter
stumble on a secret power, by pinkdementors Rating: Teen Ship: Harry/Ginny Word count: 15k Status: Complete Summary: All stories have a beginning. This is one of them: the diary, the girl, the quill dipped in ink. Don’t trust a magical object if you can’t see where it keeps its brain, Arthur would admonish months later, but Ginny had grown up in a house crammed with unknown magic, had no memory of a life separate from talking mirrors and singing teapots and the tinny complaints of Great-Uncle Alfie’s chess set. She was just turned eleven years old, and she wanted a friend. Was this to be her crime? My bookmark: Excellent Ginny character study. I have been wanting a story exactly like this for so long.
Eleven Up, by ryfkah Rating: Gen Ship: None Word count: 7k Status: Complete Summary: In 1990, prominent Muggleborn research wizard Cromwell Albertson embarked on an ambitious project to interview six Muggle-born students – before and after their life-changing discovery of their wizarding talent. He continued these interviews over the next nine years, a period of time which spanned both the Chamber of Secrets attacks in 1992 and Voldemort’s second rise and subsequent persecution of Muggleborns in 1997. The Pensieve Projection that resulted won a Superbius award for artistic excellence in 2002 and has been required viewing in the Hogwarts Muggle Studies course since 2008. My bookmark: An interesting idea for a fic, and I think it’s done really well. I really enjoyed getting to know the different Muggleborn characters included – main characters, minor characters, and original characters – and seeing their different personalities and perspectives and how they react to different canon events.
Stone Walls Do Not a Prison Make, by Anonymous Rating: Teen Ship: None Word count: 6k Status: Complete Summary: or, A Discourse on the Damned. An examination of Azkaban through its prisoners. My bookmark: From Marvolo Gaunt to Stan Shunpike, the experiences of those condemned to Azkaban.
Fandom: Howl's Moving Castle - Diana Wynne Jones
*fav* jackrabbit, by Anonymous Rating: Teen Ship: Howl/Sophie Word count: 71k Status: Complete Summary: Moderating the annoying youtuber’s livestreams was only ever meant to be a brief favour to her internet friend. Joining their team discord server was only ever meant to be a distraction. Pretending to be an old woman through it all was an accident. But as the 22-year-old tailor left running an ailing family business during a global pandemic, Sophie Hatter can be forgiven for making some questionable decisions along the way. [Or: Sophie's strange lockdown hobby grows violently out of hand.] My bookmark: Listen, I know this probably sounds like a weird AU but trust me, TRUST ME, it’s so so good, I loved it so much!
Fandom: Jujustu Kaisen
Pink Blues, by athena_crikey Rated: Teen Ship: None Word count: 1k Status: Complete Summary: Then there’s Itadori and Fushiguro, AKA Major Simpleton and Captain Apathy. They would go to the drug store for her if she asked. But having to see their sketched-out expressions when she tells them what she wants them to buy would be off-putting – as is the idea that they’ll be staring at her all day thinking about it. She needs someone understanding. Someone mature. Someone who doesn’t give a fuck. “No-ba-ra~” calls a familiar, teasing voice from the hallway. “It’s time~ for~ class!” Fuck. OR: Nobara runs out of tampons. My bookmark: Nobara has a problem, and Gojo comes to the rescue. Nobara’s POV is perfect, and they are both totally in character.

Magician's Misjudgment, by abstractconcept, the_con_cept (abstractconcept) Rating: Gen Ship: Kim/Mairelon Word count: 22k Status: Complete Summary: Kim and Mairelon's pasts intrude on their life when an act of charity results in a dire warning; a mysterious woman is after revenge. Their magic is being leeched by an unknown adversary. It's up to Kim, Mairelon and a young friend to track the woman down, and without magic, Kim will have to rely on her wits, her fists and her friendships. My bookmark: Another adventure for Kim and Mairelon, featuring magic, mystery, new friends, old enemies, and quite a lot of BAMF!Kim.

the devil finds work for, by Fahye Rating: Mature Ship: Gaby/Illya/Napoleon Word count: 7k Status: Complete Summary: Here's the thing about Napoleon Solo: he only values something if he's stolen it. My bookmark: Pitch-perfect, all three of them.
Fandom: Naruto
The Way of the Wind, by just_enough Rating: Mature Ship: Itachi/Sakura Word count: 164k Status: Complete Summary: ANBU Captain Uchiha Itachi had things well planned out, until a medic-nin with ridiculous hair went and made herself interesting. Sakura insisted she was just doing her job, but Itachi didn't quite see it that way. My bookmark: Very enjoyable, long, non-massacre canon divergence ItaSaku AU. Sakura inadvertantly catches the attention of her teammate’s mysterious older brother; an unconventional courtship full of intense UST ensues. Itachi is more than a little unhinged here, but it’s okay, Sakura is into it.

The Love Story of the Runner Up, by Margo_Kim Rating: Teen Ship: Castiel/OMC, Dean/Castiel Word count: 5k Status: Complete Summary: “So you saw a white man in a trench coat pop out in an alley,” Paul says, “and you thought, what, ‘I want to see where this is going?”“If you get hung up on details like that,” Miguel says, “it will take a very long time to get through this story. For a very weird era in his life, Miguel dates an angel who is in love with another man. My bookmark: I haven’t read any SPN fic in ages, but I am glad to have broken my streak for this absolutely fantastic outsider POV story.

'Til our compass stands still, by edenwolfie Rating: Explicit Ship: Hua Cheng/Xie Lian Word count: 179k Status: Complete Summary: After getting lost in Ghost City, Xie Lian bargains away years of servitude to the Gambler’s Den to help a man in need. He dons the robes of a worker and hides his face and life behind an enchanted mask, protecting himself from the city's denizens. Xie Lian finds an unexpected home in Ghost City before he ever sees the lord of it, the infamous Hua Cheng. When he finally does, something about himself seems to catch the attention of the Ghost King, slowly striking up an unusual friendship. Xie Lian must figure out how to navigate his burgeoning feelings, how to keep his identity to himself, and how to get over a ghost so clearly in love with someone else. My bookmark: Wonderful, long canon-divergent AU set in Ghost City, with lots of fun ghost OCs.
A paper shield and a wooden sword, by edenwolfie Rating: Mature Ship: Hua Cheng/Xie Lian Word count: 13k Status: Complete Summary: Extra 1 for ’Til our compass stands still A pair of familiar faces come searching for Xie Lian in the Gambler’s Den, bringing with them some unexpected news and receiving more than they anticipated in turn. Probably intelligible without reading the original fic, but it sure will make a lot more sense with it. My bookmark: A wild Feng Xin and Mu Qing appear.
if they caught you, by feyburner Rating: Mature Ship: Hua Cheng/Xie Lian Word count: 6k Status: Complete Summary: “I’m going to kill the Ghost King,” said White Dragon Devouring Moon. “Hmm,” said Xie Lian. My bookmark: Xie Lian gets kidnapped, but don’t worry, he’s got the situation under control.
An Exercise in Proper Sitting Posture, by Princeliest Rating: Explicit Ship: Feng Xin/Mu Qing Word count: 5k Status: Complete Summary: 800 years is a long time to remain celibate and Mu Qing is wound tight at the best of times, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to him that trying to take the entirety of Feng Xin's massive dick is... well. Not easy, to say the least. Luckily for him, Feng Xin has a lot of patience, and a lot of lube. My bookmark: Very very tender (but also very very hot) FengQing smut.

I hope that you will come and meet me, by feyburner Rating: Mature Ship: Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian Word count: 28k Status: Complete Summary: The second time Lan Zhan said Wei Ying, come back, Wei Wuxian did. My bookmark: Absolutely lovely post-CQL-canon getting together story.
and i double dare me as well, by iodadh Rating: Explicit Ship: Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen/Xue Yang Word count: 50k Status: Complete Summary: Four years ago Xiao Xingchen came down the mountain and took up his position as Baoshan Sanren’s representative. Ever since then, Song Lan has been guarding his back from threats both personal and political. The spring discussion conference in Lanling promises nothing they haven’t dealt with before—until a beautiful assassin tries to shoot Xingchen dead, and everything goes wildly off the rails. As it turns out, this is only the beginning of Song Lan’s problems. (Or: How to ruin a discussion conference, nearly start a war, and fall desperately, agonizingly, soul-destroyingly in love in ten days.) My bookmark: I am going feral, absolutely foaming at the mouth over how perfect this fic is!
you, you, me, by iodadh Rating: Explicit Ship: Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen/Xue Yang Word count: 6k Status: Complete Summary: What comes next, exactly, after the end of the Lanling Jin discussion conference? Well, that’s the thing: Xue Yang doesn’t know. My bookmark: (sequel to and i double dare me as well) Porn (with feelings) coda.
Our Minds Wide Open, by Pip (Moirail) Rating: Explicit Ship: Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen/Xue Yang Word count: 37k Status: Complete Summary: Song Lan is a good photographer. He has a good eye for angles, for lighting, for the way that people shift when he moves just enough to show the branding on the clothes they’re trying to sell. He’s met dozens of makeup artists and brand reps and probably hundreds of models. That doesn't mean that he's immune to beautiful people. And that certainly doesn't mean he's immune to the most beautiful man he's ever seen. Song Lan regrets accepting the contract, except for how he really, really doesn't. My bookmark: Modern AU with photographer Song Lan and models Xiao Xingchen and Xue Yang. Established XueXiao, developing SongXueXiao. Well written, and I really like the characterization and dynamics of all 3 of them.
some life yet unspent, by Fahye Rating: Explicit Ship: Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian Word count: 28k Status: Complete Summary: Lan Wangji wasn't privy to the conversations that took place among Yiling staff, but there was always an apologetic, tense edge to the tech's voice when someone else took over his missions. As if Wei Ying had put the fear of God into them if they let anything happen to Lan Wangji when Wei Ying was not personally available to oversee him. "Something like that," Mianmian told him. "Anyway, it's not like there's anything for either of you to be jealous over. None of the other agents prefer him." My bookmark: Wangxian 00Q AU, in which Lan Wangji goes on missions and Wei Wuxian makes gadgets. Well written of course, and a fun time all around.
Meng Yao's Guide to Sex and Love, by Princeliest Rating: Explicit Ship: Lan Xichen/Meng Yao Word count: 25k Status: Complete Summary: “How are you even supposed to enjoy going on a date with your boyfriend if you’re acting like ‘Olympic gold boyfriend material’ is too mediocre for him! I’m surprised you two manage to have enjoyable sex!” There is an awkward pause, and Meng Yao only realizes too late that it’s one that he let sit too long. He sets the dysfunctional hair straightener in the sink, unplugging it, but the noise of busywork comes too late to stop Wei Wuxian. “Are you not even having decent sex??” “It’s,” Meng Yao stutters, “—okay?” Or: Meng Yao and Lan Xichen have been dating for a while, now, and everything about their relationship is perfect. Meng Yao makes sure of it, just like he makes sure that his annual performance review at Jin Corp is impeccable, that Madam Jin never catches his surreptitious, short visits to deliver gifts to Jin Ling, and that Lan Xichen gets a mind-blowing orgasm at least three times a week, even if they're too tired for sex for five days straight and Meng Yao has to chain them back-to-back until his jaw is sore. Everything is going great, until he makes the mistake of genuinely befriending Wei Wuxian. My bookmark: One of my favorite Meng Yao POVs ever, he’s SO neurotic and tightly wound and overthinks absolutely everything, it’s fantastic. Love WWX being a supportive subway rat/friend, and of course LXC is very sweet.
Meng Yao's Guide to Sex and Sensibility, by Princeliest Rating: Explicit Ship: Lan Xichen/Meng Yao Word count: 3k Status: Complete Summary: The kink sheet is embarrassingly scribbled-over. It is impossible, Meng Yao finds, to simply cross out ‘name calling,’ and yet it still took him fifteen whole minutes, sat at the head of the bed with his clipboard balanced on his knees, which were so pulled up as to nearly hide the paper from the room entirely, to append the note: ‘Only if you are nice about it.’ The entirety of Meng Yao’s paper ended up full of contradictions like that. How is he supposed to explain that he does not mind—perhaps even enjoys—being called desperate, messy, a slut, but only in the kindest of Lan Xichen’s tones? And yet, his boyfriend understood. Or: Lan Xichen and Meng Yao's sex life is greatly improved the judicious application of trial and error. Sometimes there is more error than expected. My bookmark: (sequel to Meng Yao's Guide to Sex and Love)
Want The Lights On, by Pip (Moirail) Rating: Explicit Ship: Nie Mingjue/Lan Xichen/Meng Yao Word count: 19k Status: Complete Summary: Meng Yao's sister-in-law is following the Jiang tradition of being evil. Why else would she try to set him up with a married man? “I’m pretty sure my sister-in-law is trying to ruin my life.”Lan Huan’s tone is one of genuine curiosity when he asks, “Why would she do that?” “I don’t know yet,” Meng Yao untangles himself from the barre and crosses his arms across his chest, looking up (and up, and up, curse Jiang Yanli for her knowledge of his tastes) at Lan Huan’s very handsome jawline. “But I need you to make less vigorous eye-contact until you bring me a notarized waiver saying your spouse doesn’t care about you hitting on me.” My bookmark: Tooth-achingly sweet and thoroughly fun modern AU with established NieLan & developing 3Zun.
i wanna be (completely weightless), by iodadh Rating: Explicit Ship: Song Lan/Xiao Xingchen/Xue Yang Word count: 10k Status: Complete Summary: Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan are definitely not Xue Yang's boyfriends, but they're still probably his best option for unobtrusively riding out a curse that means he can't be alone. They don't even have to know anything's wrong. Xingchen will smile, Song Lan will ignore him, he'll spend a few days hiding at their place, and then everything will go back to normal. That's the plan, anyway, but a mind-reading curse has a way of putting a wrench in things. My bookmark: Xue Yang and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Loved, aka my favorite trope <3
Fandom: Yuri!!! on Ice

"I'm not asking you to mess with them," JJ flat-out lies. My bookmark: Perfectly delightful OtaYuri fantasy/fairy tale AU. Also the illustrations are gorgeous!
