IMYAM-Donnie Sprite update

Hey guys! The sprite for Donnie is now fully colored and has different ambient lights, he has two different arm positions and around 5 eyes and mouths for different expressions sketched out!

Okay, so. Sorry I have quite a few questions about the dating sim!

1: will you have to pay for it?

2: will it be on a website or like an actual app you have to download?

3: any updates for the little sprites or any updates in general

4: how close are you to finishing?

1. The game will be completely free to play though donations are possible, some of these questions have been answered in my #FAQ

2. The game will have to be downloaded on phone or desktop as it has many assets that would not run on browser, unless I change the format of it from ren'py to something else, which seems possible too.

3. The sprites for Leo and Donnie are completely finished, however, due to time constraints (My personal life including work and other various projects) I am considering making simple sketch sprites for each turtle for the beta first, so that the game can be played without the fully finished assets.

4. Though the script of the game for each turtle is mostly developed, programming all different options, all effects of the game, and etcetera, is not quick work, and it is only me working on it, so it will not be finished soon, I also have the Leo x Reader Anastasia interactive fic which at this point runs completely as a dating sim already.

In fact, despite it being a Leo x reader, Donnie has been added as a romanceable character in the Anastasia AU fic, it makes me think that to accelerate the process of the ROTTMNT dating sim I could change the format to match the Anastasia fic instead, however, if I don't do that then it will take longer.

Again, this game is a very tough process and there are many things in my real life preventing me from dedicating as much time as I would like for it, but help, especially with the programming of the game is always welcome.

Once the script is fully finished I will start the coding, but due to the amount of options I am adding it is still a work in progress.

How far are you in on the dating game??? Just curious lol

For now I have the title screen, one of at least 8 backgrounds, Leo and Donnie as sprites with different lighting and expressions and 4 playlists in progress for each boy which will have relation to the plot as well.

I am currently focusing on the script and plot for the story which has a finished prologue and about the equivalent of two chapters of writing finished for the stories of Leo and Donnie.

I also have 4 icons for each turtle that were made by @yanteetle , the design for the current title screen was sketched by @mariusroyale and they will be helping me with CG's of the boys that will appear through the game!.

I was scavenging the internet for dating sims when I realized there are only two freaking ROTTMNT dating sims (both of them were for Donnie lovers and one of them included a romance for Leo as well). As you can tell from me messaging you, I'm a bit desperate. I'm new to Tumblr so if you made any important updates or announcements on the project, I mostly likely didn't see it. But the main reason I'm messaging you is so I can find out the estimated time this game would be finished. This text might seem as if I'm rushing you but I assure you, that is not my intention.

By the way, if you need some artists for your project, I'd be happy to help! I absolutely love drawing (you can check my acc) and ROTTMNT. I am as equally passionate for both of them.

Aw, hi! And thank you for the offer! I am currently doing good regarding art, but programming will take me a while, even with that I do have some offers for help with that!

Currently the progress of the VN is on hiatus, as I am currently working on my ROTTMNT interactive fic, which is like a VN but less time consuming as I have aimed too high with all the features I wish to add to the VN.

More info can be found on my FAQ but basically, at this time my goals is to first finish my interactive fic, then transform the little merturtle to the same format and work on the sequel, THEN and only then will I get back to working on the VN.

Also, as this is well, my hobby, I have also been very busy irl so it will take me a little to get back to the speed at which I was working on all this.

Hey I just wanted to ask about your ROTTMNT dating sim, I saw your post and I'm never able to play some of the games I want to play since I have to download them and they don't work for my computer, so I just wanna know if it's going to be on a website cause I really wanna play it!!!!!!!

Hello! The answer to this can also be find under my FAQ post!

But the answer is, the VN as it holds many assets and is being programmed with Renpy will have to be downloaded to work! Unlike the Anastasia AU interactive fic, but it will probably be available on both phone and computer.

The ROTTMNT VN is looking great from the stuff I’ve seen! Do you have an estimated amount of time you want to get it out by? (Not like a set date, ofc!)

Hello! I currently do not! I set the standard the game must have very high when I started the project and thus since I have so many things to do first the progress for the VN is currently on pause, however my Anastasia AU is a playable interactive fic which works as a visual novel right now and is what I am working on when I have the time to, so if you are interested on Donnie or Leo I think you should check it out!

How long do you think this will take???

With everything I plan on including? A while.

My plan is that once I have all the sprites and most of the plot written down I will start coding it in to create demo versions of the game that will have the incomplete content (Placeholders for most background and assets, unfinished story, no love meter, no map) so people can play parts of it (the beta) soon while I keep adding to the game and updating it until the final version comes out.

I'll add to this list as I get questions about the project!

1. How can I follow the project?

I will keep you guys updated on my tumblr as I go through the tags: "#TMNT dating sim" and "#IMYAM".

However I will update more frequently on my discord server where I talk about it actively, you can join it to see more content.

2. Will it be available on web browser/phone/mac?

I am currently focusing on development for computer use, that includes Windows and Mac both, it might take me a bit to get it ready for phone but my plan is to do so, early versions of the game might not be available on phone though and will be missing some assets on mobile while the project is ongoing.

3. What is the plot?

Following the events of the Kraang invasion, the player character is a friend of the turtles and is visiting the lair to hang out, while left alone in their favorite turtle's room they find a playlist the turtle made and saves it unknowingly to the turtle.

As the days go by, their favorite turtle starts acting weird and the player meets a new human friend, who reminds them of their crush.

Slowly but surely, the player starts to realize the songs on their crush's playlist might have something to do with them.

4. What are the plans of the game?

The idea is for the game to be pretty extensive, for now I will be focusing on the script and art, early versions of the game will play as a regular VN with choices, however there are functions that I want to add to the game that may take much longer and will be available until way in the future of this project, such as:

•An interactive map of the lair

•Items and objects that the player can obtain for the plot and find around the different places of the map

•Character customizer and avatar at the bottom left of the screen

•Phone that the player can access

5. Can I help?

Definitely, if you have a skill that would be helpful for the project that would be wonderful, especially if you can help programming the game on ren'py, either with simply getting the script in or adding functions to the game.

Programmers, artists, musicians beta readers and others are welcome too, you can message me privately here or you can message me on my discord server for ROTTMNT x reader stuff, which is linked on my masterlist, there is a category dedicated to the game.

6. Will there be a cost?

Not at all, once the first test version of the game is available for download an option will be added to donate to the project but it is not required to play. Ask where I answered this here.
