Rosabelle Mendez (Pantha)

I love her! She is so cool! I really like her depth and how she wants to be accepted. Her dynamic with Baby and Red Star is great. I also really like her design.

Henry King Jr. (Brainwave Jr.)

His great idea for introduce himself to the JSA and warn them about a villainous plot was to disguise himself as his villain father and break into their base. He was deeply hurt when their response to this was violence since he only did that to get their attention :( . He did not fully understand their negative response. He is the Son of Merry the girl of 1000 Gimmicks and Brain Wave. His mother is a hero and his father a villain. So obviously when he chose his hero name he based it on his father. Since he had his father's powers. (His skill at making good impressions of people was not high.) After much traumatic experience and drastic power increases he became a 'crazy' villain and was locked in a tortuous mental institution by heroes. However it is later revealed his behaviour was mostly caused by a brain tumour and some of his later behaviour a worm in his brain eating the tumour. He decided against continuing with heroism not long after this. Overall he is interesting character who is consistently having a terrible time. Including an occasion where he and his then girlfriend Jade were fighting each other due to being controlled and he (a telepath) broke out of it and immediately assumed that if he broke free then so did Jade. She had not. Ouch.

Rant post about DC fandom and misogyny! TW: Mentions of r@pe

Okay, so this is about a specific example, but it happens a lot, but I'm just talking about this one, and this one is about Pantha, Nightwing, and Miriage. Read under the cut for the actual post because I hate blocks of text.

So, a lot of Nightwing fans might know about Miriage and that she raped him, some Dan's might also know he got called a slut after that happened. And I understand that does affect him but this isn't about him it's about Pantha the lady who called him a stut because that's what her character got reduced to and if I don't defend her no one will.

So the people who does know Pantha know she did this and its a bad thing and she also asked Nightwing "who was better" witch is horrible but if anybody actually read the comic and cared about the other characters than Nightwing you would know that she had no idea what happened. So I'll do a break down.

Pantha is part of the titans and she is friends with them, she doesn't understand social structure as she was a human experiment shut away from society and doesn't have her memories from before then.

She knows that Nightwing is dating Starfire. Miriage (her friend) tells people that her and Nightwing slept together. Pantha knows cheating is wrong and calls Nightwing a slut because she thinks he cheated because that's what she was told by her friend. She questions and presses him about it because she thinks he is a cheater. Again she doesn't question Miriage because that's her friend why would she lie about that??

But people who didn't read the comic but saw the panel took it out of context, like they always do and reduced her character to that, what doesn't help the fact she was subjected to the "angry black woman" trope. And that's now all she's characterised as an angry woman. Like in the TT cartoon she was their as a big angry woman (they white washed her to shut so I can't say it was angry black woman trope anymore cuz she's white in the cartoon). This all just pisses me off because she has so much more to her character, but she's been subjected to this, and I blame misogyny. If she were a man, more people would talk about it, and they would go into depth in her character.

This now brings me onto Miriage and imma be calling her Miri cuz, it's easier but if she were a man people would defend her. And while what she did was terribly wrong and has no excuses, her character got reduced to "rapist." She's got more to her than that. You know how much people apologise for Slade, a child rapist, yeah, you don't get that for her. And neither should be looked at as good people, but they are both complex characters who are rapists but only she got reduced to it. I bet you people don't even know that she'd been raped before either, because if she were a man, people would. Like I said, Miri is a bad person, and her actions shouldn't be excused, and they aren't all I'm saying is that because of misogyny, her character got reduced to rapist and that's it.

7, 12, and 22 please!

7- Favorite one shot character:

I’ll go with go with Colin Wilkes (although technically he did show up again briefly after the Mr. Zsasz arc in Batman: Streets of Gotham). The way he crossed paths with Damian made me go, “Yep, that’s about how I’d imagine Damian making a friend his age.” I liked his powers and from the little we saw of him, it seemed like he had an interesting morality that was influenced by his faith (kind of like Huntress). I’m honestly bummed there wasn’t more done with him. I think he had a lot of potential to be a supporting character for future Damian stories. He’s been erased from continuity by the reboots, but I’m wary of any attempts to reintroduce him since I thought Paul Dini and Dustin Nguyen’s original introduction for the character was so strong. He’s one of those characters that got away 💔

12- Favorite sidekick:

Is anyone surprised that I’m saying Robin? Specifically though, I have to go with Damian Wayne. The dynamic he has with Dick, especially during Dickbats era, says so much about what Robin means to both of them and really puts Dick as the first kid sidekick into perspective, both for Dick and the readers. Like Dick says in Batman (2016) #34, “You and me, kiddo. From the beginning…And all the way to the end.” 💚💛❤️

22- Ideal titans lineup not including the fab 5:

This is so hard. I’ll preface this by saying that I am a New Teen Titans purist but I also have a strong fondness for the first 20 issues of Titans 1999. That being said, I’d have the core team be: Cyborg, Starfire, Jericho, Damage, Ravager, and Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) with Omen, Bumblebee, Herald, Red Star, Pantha, and Baby Wildebeest as guest appearances. Vic would be the main leader for the team and Kory would take over if Vic’s incapacitated or he needs to step back for a while because he’s dealing with personal stuff (You know, classic Titans scenarios). I promise I didn’t (just) put Grant on this list for my blorbo agenda. His arc in Titans 1999 where Roy takes him to the desert and he works through his trauma was the companion to Kory’s arc where Tamaran waged war against the Gordanians. That made it so the two of them mirrored each other, at least in my eyes. I think if they were in a book together where Kory was actually well written, there’d be plenty of opportunity to explore the different perspectives they have on the cycle of violence and that would also lend itself to some really interesting conflict within the team. I added Kyle in here even though I don’t know him that well (yet!) because I liked him a lot in The New Titans and he had an interesting friendship with Damage that sadly was never explored again after that book. For the guest appearances, I had to include Lilith so she could show up and cause drama (I say this with love). I’m also a big fan of Red Star and his strange little found family, so I’d love to see them work with the Titans again for an arc or two. I’m so glad you gave me 22, it was a lot of fun 😊
