Oooh, these are great asks, OP!
Before this blog turns into a #certifiedbellarablog for Bellara Week 2025, ask away 😁
Questions for your Rook and their partner:
Does your Rook fall for their partner at first sight? If not, what moment made your Rook realize they're in love with them?
When does the partner realize that they're in love with Rook?
How long does it take for them to officially get together? Did any of the other Lighthouse members have any suspicions beforehand?
Do your Rook and their partner share the same faction? If so, does that affect their relationship at all? If not, what is your Rook's opinion of their partner's faction? What is the partner's opinion of Rook's faction?
Do they have different cultural backgrounds (e.g. a Rook who was raised in Antiva with Harding who was raised in Ferelden)? If so, do they ever share parts of their culture with each other? If they're similar, how do they celebrate their culture together?
What is their favorite thing to do together? Do they share any hobbies? Does your Rook teach their partner their own hobbies? Does the partner teach Rook theirs?
Are they a physically affectionate couple? Are they fine displaying those affections in public or do they prefer to be in private? If they're not, how do they prefer to show their love instead?
What does their ideal date look like? Do they go on much?
Does your Rook bring them out often? How are they like on the battlefield? Do they banter much?
Do they have any nicknames for each other? Who uses terms of endearment more?
Who says "I love you" first? What is the other's reaction? Who thinks it first?
Any inside jokes?
What song(s) do you associate with them?
Does your Rook get their partner any other gifts (besides the one already in-game)? Does the partner get Rook any? Any gifts that are particularly special?
What was the partner's reaction to Rook being imprisoned in the Fade? How did they cope? How did they react upon seeing Rook again?
How did your Rook react to getting trapped in the Fade and separated from their partner?
What is your Rook's favorite thing about their partner? What is the partner's favorite thing about Rook?
When all is said and done, where would they like to retire together? Is marriage in the cards for them? Children? Pets?

Spicy questions for your Rook + their romanced partner ask
Question 3, 11, 26 please!
Thank you!!! 🥰🥰
I answered for Elauthin and Lucanis
3. How often does Rook spend "alone time"
Not super often pre-game because she has a bit of a revolving door of fwbs and a partner that doesn't treat her the best. During the game, when all she has is her fantasies of Lucanis, it's more often. Which is awkward when Spite seeks her out on its own and is very confused as to why she is making those distressed noises and she has to make him promise to not say anything to Lucanis...
He asks Emmrich instead
11. What is Rook's favorite intimate non-sexual thing to do with their partner?
Bathe. She especially loves when they wash each other's hair and while usually she is a wash and go person, Lucanis combs oil through her hair to keep it healthy and helps her braid it after
26. What do they usually do after? Are they a couple that likes to cuddle?
Oh yes. They are constantly touching. Subtly in public and all over each other in private. They like to hold each other for awhile until they both feel too gross to continue, then bathe together, and usually fall asleep

For your Rook. Def this one. Lol.
3. A time Rook got incredibly drunk.
Rook’s a lightweight, but that won’t stop them from playing wicked grace with Rivaini rules (loser has to drink). They stupidly challenged Isabela. Everything about that night is secondhand information for them. They have no idea what actually happened after the first two hands. Some of the Lords said they tried to fist fight Taash. According to Taash, they only had to stick their hand out while Rook swung their fists until they tired themselves out. According to Harding, Rook hit on a coatrack for 10 minutes. According to Isabela, Rook personally offered to buy the entire bar a round (Rook is still 90% certain Isabela just took their gold and bought everyone drinks with it while they were passed out). Neve refuses to let them live down the part of the night where Rook asked her if she was single and she said no. It wasn’t a lie because they had been dating for months. Rook cried for 20 minutes.

Savrin's relationship chart!! I saw this template by @arcandoria last night and LOVED it, I really enjoyed thinking about how everyones relationships developed throughout the game and how certain story choices impacted them. Bellara and Davrin having the "family" symbol makes me tear up, bc they truly are Savrins closest friends. And I love my distant lil Crow boy developing lifelong relationships with people after years of purposefully keeping others at an arms length uugh I LOVE MY BOY
Find the template here!! Its super well put together if you have access to photoshop/editing software 💕

Who is your Rook's best friend? Did they meet during Veilguard or before? Any wild stories?
Ezra Pentaghast. Ezra is transmasc, and slightly taller than my Ingellvar. She’s 5’8”, he’s about 6’. He has black hair, blue-grey eyes, and slightly tanned skin. They met during training for the Mourn Watch, and were pretty inseparable by the time they finished their training.
Ezra was in Rose’s squadron during the war of the banners conflict, and has been leading them in her absence. They write each other every week or so.
As for wild stories, beyond goofing off in the training grounds, they spent a week in Antiva just after completing their training. They mainly snuck out of the Villa they were staying at with Ezra’s parents to go try the various coffee shops and restaurants - and to dodge any would be suitors Ezra’s parents tried to introduce him to. They did end up drinking and dancing with a couple of crows (unbeknownst to Rose and Ezra) one of those nights though.
Pics of my Ingellvar below- I’m becoming very attached to her. She’s nonbinary, but mainly uses she/her (same as me)

2, 12, 13 for the Rook ask!
Rook ask games my beloved <3 questions HERE
Thank you for asking I love doing these (((:
2. How well qualified for leadership are they really?
Big part of my Rook Mercar's backstory is that she went through a rigorous military training and served in the Tevinter military during the Antaam invasion so pretty qualified actually! After she left the military, she joined the Shadow Dragons and refused to lead group missions (she'd rather just worry about herself) So she's not thrilled about it, but she's qualified.
12. What do they think about their room at the Lighthouse?
Military girl turned insurgent she's not super picky about her sleeping arrangements, can sleep anywhere. However she's particularly averse to the aquarium in the meditation room. Doesn't like fish, feels like they're staring at her. So she falls asleep outside of her room a lot. Constantly passed out on couches all around the Lighthouse, the library, the dining room, cots in the infirmary.
I also like to imagine that sometimes she talks shit to the fish and tells them how ugly they are when no one's around. And by the end of the game I do think she's grown fond of them but only because at some point "you're so ugly!" turned into "You're so ugly (affectionate)"
13. What does Rook put onto the grocery list in the dining hall?
Chocolate (canonically) I think of Rook as more of a scrounger so like, whatever the Thedas equivalent is to like...ramen? Can subsist on stale bread and an apple if required. So actually she doesn't add much to the grocery list but she's like the bad roommate that eats half your almonds. I like to imagine a scenario where Lucanis is about to make dinner only to find out that the cheese he bought is half gone and when he asks about it he finds out that Rook ate it and he's like ???? you just ate half a block of cheese?? & she's like "I had some grapes and jerky too if that matters???"
She eventually learns to replace what she eats (when she remembers) but I also think that everyone else figures out what she steals and just starts getting twice as much to make up for her rat habits.
#rook asks#these ask games fuel me#I love creating little headcanons#rat girl Rook#eating everyone else's food#she's just a scrounger okay!#she works hard and she's doing her best.

For the Rook asks!! Also I need to know their name. 🌻 🌱 and 🥀
Thank you for asking, Gala!
My crypt child Rook's name is Luciya Ingellvar. A little extra background is that she’s a nerdy lil weirdo and her work in the Mourn Watch is in relics and their containment. She’s basically got the keys to like one of many of the Necropolis’s occult museums lol.
🌻 How old is your Rook? How do they feel about celebrating their birthday? What gift has meant the most to them?
At the start of Veilguard she is 30. Also, I love the idea of a Navarran birthday tradition that is a bit morbid, in their way, but there is a lot of delight in it. Like instead of saying "happy birthday" they say the Thedosian equivalent of "momento mori." Very "remember that you die but remember to live," and I think a nice birthday dinner visiting with her sister and MW mentors, and later her Veilguard friends would be her ideal birthday celebration. Luciya's favorite gift would be this nice chatelaine gifted to her by her twin sister. It goes everywhere with her, and she's got her favorite little trinkets and oddities on it.
🌱 Was Rook involved romantically with anyone before Veilguard? What was their partner like? How did the relationship end?
She had no romantic relationships before Veilguard. She was a bit reclusive and married to her studies and work. She is not great with social cues and while she finds lots of people interesting, would rather be shut in a Necropolis backroom with some cursed artifacts than trying to navigate a conversation with someone she liked. Unless that person wanted to talk at length about Glory Age burial ceramics…
🥀 What figure from Rook’s personal past would be added to the regret prison?
Her sister for sure. She would feel a lot of guilt from just leaving her behind and her own fault in the events that bring about her leaving. Alexa, play Noah Kahan's "You're Gonna Go Far" 🥲

From the rook questions list: Does Storm have an irrational phobia?
Rook Ask Game
I'm not sure if it's irrational, but as a Grey Warden it's certainly... inconvenient. But Storm is scared of Hurlocks.
He's gotten better over time and now rather than freezing he will just ignore anything else in the fight and focus entirely on the hurlock - which is still an issue... But it's better than he used to be.
And, I have written a short snippet based on this 😂 so I give you the first time a 17 year old Storm encountered a Hurlock after 'the blight incident' and his emergency joining.
--
It turned out that being a Warden was fairly boring most of the time. The days blurred together in a monotonous rhythm: long treks across the land, endless training sessions, and the occasional skirmish with small groups of darkspawn that didn’t offer much challenge. The constant vigilance was there, but so was the overwhelming sense of tedium. The real kicker, though, was the dreams. They were unsettling - disturbing glimpses of ancient, echoing voices. He'd been told it was the old gods calling to him, darkspawn whispering through the taint - not exactly a reassuring explanation.
But for the most part, the first few months of being a Warden were uneventful, with nothing more than the same routine repeated day after day.
Another day, another long, uneventful patrol. Storm drifted toward the rear, as mages were supposedly meant to do. That, too, had been a point of contention—apparently, mages cast from the back. Mages used staffs. A mage with a dagger? The Wardens didn’t know where to place him in the formation. In Storm’s opinion, they were just being difficul - too rigid.
Today they were scouting a cave system. It took mere minutes to secure the area, but the weight of the taint in the air was unmistakable - it gripped their senses, pulling at their veins. Darkspawn. A low, guttural growl that reverberated through the cave like a death knell.
Nothing unusual. They fought darkspawn regularly. They were Wardens. It's what they did. But today something felt off.
Storm’s heart raced in his chest, his legs suddenly feeling heavy, as though made of lead. He’d been trained for this. He knew how to fight. He’d only been a Warden for a few months, but fighting was nothing new. So why couldn’t he move? What was wrong with him?
The growl echoed again, sharper this time, and Storm's instincts screamed at him to react. His grip on his dagger tightened, and his hand sparked with flecks of lightning, but his body refused to cooperate. His breath coming in short, shallow bursts, chest tight, the air thick with a strange, suffocating pressure.
He couldn’t move.
The darkspawn appeared from the shadows, emerging with a slow, deliberate gait. Its hulking form loomed over him, eyes glinting.
A hurlock.
It moved closer, its jagged teeth glinting in the dim light of the cave, its hulking form a grotesque reminder of the nightmarish creature that had nearly taken his life. He could feel the taint radiating from it like heat, the suffocating pressure of the Blight filling his lungs, making it harder to breathe. The sound of its claws scraping against the stone echoed in the back of his mind, louder than his own racing thoughts.
“Storm,” Aunt Bethany’s voice cut through the haze of panic, sharp and commanding.
He couldn’t move.
He couldn’t even think.
The growl that came next was deeper, more menacing, and it snapped something inside him. The image of the hurlock biting into his arm, the sickening, tearing sensation, flooded his mind. The Blight. The darkness. The infection. Everything he had been trying to ignore, everything that had led him to this moment, it all crashed into him at once.
“Storm, move!” Aunt Bethany’s voice cut through his mind, but it was distant, as though coming from the other side of a vast chasm. Her urgency didn’t seem to reach him - his mind was stuck, trapped in that single, awful memory. His body refusing to respond.
Get a grip, he thought, move, damn it. He had to move. He had to do something.
The hurlock took another step, its massive footfall shaking the ground beneath them. It snarled, its eyes locking on Storm as though it could sense the hesitation in him.
You’re not that weak anymore. You’re a Warden.
The words echoed in his mind, but they felt distant, too abstract. He couldn’t go through it again. Not like that. Not again.
"Storm!" Bethany’s voice was sharper now, and he felt a hand grab his arm, pulling him back.
The world around him was a blur—shouts, clashing steel, the crackling of his own lightning. Everything felt distant, like he was observing from somewhere far away.
The growl of the hurlock faded into the background as his body trembled, his mana nearly drained, his senses overwhelmed. By the time the creature crumpled to the ground, dead at the Wardens’ feet, Storm was shaking uncontrollably, his legs unsteady beneath him.
The journey back to camp was a blur, the landscape slipping past in a haze.
He could hardly recall the path they took, the faces of the Wardens as they passed. But what stayed with him, vivid and real, was Bethany’s hand still firmly gripping his arm, guiding him, offering him something to hold onto as his world spun out of control.

1,2,3,&8 for the Rook ask!
1) What type of plant would Harding gift your Rook? For Lorenze Thorne, she would give her wisteria or lavender. Something purple to match her girlfriend :)
2) Do they like Harding's cooking? She unironically loves the ham and jam slam. Everything else is a bit iffy but Thorne will eat it with a smile regardless bc that's her gf who made it and by the Maker, Lace is still ten times a better cook than she is.
3) What animal/monster would Davrin carve for your Rook? He saw the turtle figure she already had once and without even knowing the full story behind it, carved her another turtle figure. She almost cried and then told him that it was her brother's.
8) Do your Rook and Bellara read serials together? Oh absolutely! They both also collaborate on making fanfiction of their favorite serials

for the rook question thing, 10 and/or 11? <3
Rook calls Lucanis, Luca but Lucanis hates it. Lucanis calls Rook his sun but only sometimes.
It’s mostly just Rook and Lucanis.
They both said I love you at the same time but they realized they were in love way before it and just didn’t say it.
It was also after Tearstone Island when they say it. Almost losing Rook made Lucanis realize that he should’ve told him.

Omniscient and anaphora for literary asks (Disaster Rook)!
Oh, I like these. Tricksy tricksy for my goofy dork of a Rook who, somehow, despite that is very secretive. Thanks so much for the ask from the Literary Device Asks!
Omniscient: Are there any secrets Rook is hiding? From others? From themselves?
He largely doesn’t discuss much of his pre-Shadow Dragon past with anyone. Even Neve takes awhile to learn much about it. And of the others, only Harding knows bits and pieces and she’s not telling. That said, for his observant companions, there are some things that give hints to it: he was clearly trained in fighting, he was taught to mix his own poisons in the Tevinter style, he doesn’t wear short sleeves or roll up his long ones, he has issues with the Antaam as a group, and he is fairly generous with his money (though nowhere near as generous as Lucanis).
There’s not much he knows about himself that he hides from (the below excepted), but other people? Absolutely.
Anaphora: What lie is central to Rook’s worldview? How does this affect them?
That every choice he makes, the consequences fall on him for making them. Regardless of the circumstances or the impact of his taking responsibility on those around him.
That’s not to say, especially post-Regret Prison, that he feels he has to be responsible for other people’s choices, but he is responsible for his. This isn’t, inherently, a lie. Or it wouldn’t be, if he didn’t take it too far.
By way of example: Rook chose to do what he did that got him tossed out of Ventus, so he’s no longer in contact with any of his family and he deserves that. Rook chose to previously [redacted], and he hurt people who likely didn’t deserve it in the course of that profession, and he should be blamed for that. If you ask him.
But of course, he never asked all of his relatives who never heard from him again. And he doesn’t balance the blame for his actions with blame for those that ordered those actions under threat of severe punishment. He has an overdeveloped sense of responsibility that can, at times, be a major sticking point or even lead him to make reckless or dangerous choices that can hurt not only him but others.

Seven Sentence Sunday: Monday Edition
Thanks for the tag: @biowaredisasterbisexual
Rook couldn’t help but smirk to themselves. As a Lord of Fortune, cheating was simply playing the game. It didn’t matter what game it was. Maker, Rook remembers seeing Bharv trying to cheat at rock, paper, scissors and somehow succeeding. Cheating at Wicked Grace was simply paying tribute to the time-honored tradition. They might be terrible at an honest game of it, but cheating was the fun part anyways. Finding new, ridiculous ways to not get caught, playing hands that weren’t even possible and extremely illegal (one time, they had managed to play five of the same card from five separate decks - there were only three decks present that night and Spite nearly launched Lucanis’s body across the table in a fit of rage,) and making their opponents nearly come to blows over the rules was a Lords of Fortune staple. It felt…oddly nice.

Monkshood and/or Mistletoe if you are playing the flowers ask game :)
I am and thank you for asking!! It’s helping me procrastinate doing what I should be doing lol
For anyone interested, the Language of Flowers asks are here 🌸
Answered: Forget-me-nots & Sweet Pea, Monkshood & Mistletoe
Monkshood: Does Rook ever think about their own death?
Yep! Pretty regularly if not terribly often before the events of Veilguard? Before she joined the Crows as a fledgling, she spent several weeks caged with a dead body and then very nearly drowned approximately 2 seconds after getting out of said cage and that kinda thing has a way of fucking you up for! :D life! :D I will say she was much more blasé about her own death before falling in love with Lucanis. She’s a touch more afraid of it now than she used to be, if only for his sake. She doesn’t want to leave him behind or be another name on his list of losses. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night to make Spite swear ridiculous just-in-cases promises they’ll never tell Lucanis about. They’re in cahoots to keep him alive forever. Very normal of her to make deals with someone else’s demon (spirit? something in the middle of those two poles?)
Mistletoe: Describe a kiss that meant a lot to Rook.
One of the first times Selora and Lucanis (literally) slept together in the Lighthouse, it was on that ugly green chaise so they were already kinda squished, there was a cliché move where she rolled over and he pulled her in close and just sorta rested his lips on her forehead???? She doubts it was ever intended as a kiss or even that he was awake enough to do it intentionally but she was utterly ruined by it :’) It was also the first time she remembers thinking that she would kill whatever (or whoever) she needed to keep him safe.

For the Rook asks!! 🌾, 🌱, and 🌹
Charlize Thorne
🌾 If there was a demon trying to trap/take over Rook, what kind would be the most successful? What would break their hold?
...what would be a perversion of Duty? Obstinance? I feel like that or a perversion of Compassion would have the best luck getting in her head and taking control or manipulating her.
🌱 Was Rook involved romantically with anyone before Veilguard? What was their partner like? How did the relationship end?
Yes and no? When she was in her early thirties, she was stationed in a Warden outpost near a small town in the Anderfels. She struck up a friendship with the grocer, Jakob, who supplied most of the food for the outpost. He was a widower, and he and his son would make deliveries every week. Charlize struck up conversation one day while helping him unload, and a friendship grew out of that on subsequent visits. She would occasionally find her way into town, either on patrol, delivering their order for the week, or just "stretching her legs", and talked to him more at his shop. There was, eventually, a definite undercurrent of attraction on both sides, and Mattias(the son) absolutely loved her. Jakob was witty, kind, a good father, honorable and fair, very good guy all around. But even being pretty sure he liked her back(and he did, very much), Charlize was reluctant to say anything bc she's a Grey Warden. Even if she doesn't get reassigned, there's the Calling, if not an even earlier death in battle, and she didn't want to do that to him. Since she never said anything, Jakob never did either, so they wound up doing this incredibly UST-laden dance for a few years.
It ended when a darkspawn force moved through the area; Charlize and a few others broke orders to stay in the fort in case of a fight to get in position to protect the town in case any 'spawn split off from the main horde. Which they did. The attack was repelled successfully, but two of the other Wardens died, Charlize got reassigned to Jader, and Jakob decided it was too dangerous to have a young child in this area, so he moved to Markham. So while there was someone she was romantically interested in, nothing happened.
🌹 What’s the first genuine fight Rook got in with their love interest about? How was it resolved?
Charlize is gonna romance Emmrich(and I might be proud of being on the Emmrich/Warden Rook train before it was a Thing xD). I feel like, from what I've heard about his character and romance, their first big fight--if they have one--will be about her feeling smothered by how much he worries about her//him thinking she's too reckless, bc that's the way she's learned to live as a Warden. You have to blend risk-taking and caution and inevitably every individual Warden has their own balance. She tips more on big-risk, big-reward, prioritizing protection of civilians. It would get resolved by a (maybe slightly heated) conversation about her being used to protecting people like this and it being part of a Warden's life vs Emmrich reminding her she has someone who will miss her if/when she dies, please delay that as long as possible, darling. And coming to some kind of compromise, but she's been a Warden 20+ years, she's not going to change her style overnight.

🪷🌼🌷 for the rook ask! xx
Rook Asks!
🌼 If someone was to ask Spite what Rook smells like, what would he say?
Rosemary, mint, and ozone. Possibly blood/rust depending on the time of day and whether or not she's on a job.
🌷If Rook needed to get away from their responsibilities for a moment, where would they go? Where is their safe space outside the Lighthouse?
If she only needs to get away for the afternoon, there's a cafe in the less fashionable part of Treviso, on the other side of the Drowned District, that's too old and careworn for most Crows or Antaam to bother with. If Arsinoë climbs the trellis, she can let herself in to a little private terrace where jasmine blooms in the summer. There's a tiny statue of Amrita in one of the niches that is only really obvious as such if you already know what you're looking at. The proprietor, the widower of a tradesman who worked for the Crows, will bring her an adequate cup of coffee and some cheap cantucci or mint tea and rosemary focaccia with olive oil to eat in private, so long at Arsinoë never brings violence or her job with her. As far as Treviso, most of her other, more long-term bolt holes have been taken over or destroyed in the time she was away, although she isn't above finding an inconveniently narrow or high ledge in the Drowned District and camping there with wards and a bedroll if need be. But in Salle, she has a particular fondness for a lending library built in the shell of a gutted monastery. The man who runs the library is the younger son of a younger son of a merchant prince who runs the collection of books for his own entertainment and isn't above turning a blind eye to the occasional Crow or Fledgling sheltering in the old cloister, as long as they stay out of the nave where he keeps the books and have the good sense not to get caught or bloody the place, in which case he won't protect them.
🪷 Does your Rook have an irrational phobia? (ie spiders or large man-made objects submerged underwater)
I don't think Arsinoë has any fear that rise to the level of phobia or that are particularly irrational. She does still have a hatred-fear-loathing of Templars, despite the fact that very few of the old Order exist in my world state, and of the Rite of Tranquility, but that's solidly grounded in her life experience as an Apostate mage. She also hates the idea of being (physically) trapped. She'd rather die than go back to the days of being barred away in the Circle or be jailed or under house arrest. Lucanis's situation get a lot of horrified sympathy from her because of it. It's one thing if you have a decent chance of getting out, but at a certain point, it's better to die free than live in captivity.
Thank you for the asks!

For the literary asks!
Anaphora and/or Vignette?
Hello Arrow, thank you for the ask!(:
Literary asks HERE if anyone else is interested! Have already answered Omniscient & Symbolism
Anaphora: What lie is central to Rook’s worldview? How does this affect them?
This is such an interesting one because I think there are several and some of them are kind of conflicting?
I'd say early on she accepted that being an elven woman in Tevinter, she was going to have to work harder than everyone just to succeed. That was the truth, and she was willing to step up to the plate, so to speak.
At a certain point, she realizes nothing will be good enough. Like, she's never going to prove that she's good enough to be there, and even after she proves she's good enough, everyone is still going to be looking for a way to tear her down.
So I think all of these feed into her 'you can't trust anyone, and nothing will ever be good enough' mentality.
But I also think deep down, she still believes that one day, she will have done enough to Deserve It (what is 'it? Unclear. A break, maybe?) So she's just constantly grinding herself into the ground on the belief that one day it'll be good enough.
Vignette: Describe the first time Rook got very injured. What was their reaction?
When she was training at the academy, one of the instructors broke three fingers in her right hand. This was an 'accident' and obviously it a) was painful and b) proof that they were going to try anything to get her to quit. She was pretty livid, I'd say. But because it was an instructor, there was nothing she could really do about it. Just meant she had to train harder with her left hand until her right healed. It's the reason she's so good two-handed(:
