the fact that roll7 fired every single fucking person who worked on rollerdrome (one of my favorite games of all time) after it won a BAFTA and then delisted it from steam less than 3 years after it released is. well. if that doesn't make you HATE capitalism even more with every single cell in you i don't know what to say. within game development alone, you have corporations acting so callously towards the people who make them money. and it doesn't seem to be based on any logic either - rollerdrome got deleted for being high-quality but not making enough money. makes 'sense', maybe, from the twisted bloodsucking perspective of CEOs. the entire US staff of marvel rivals got fired despite making an obscene amount of money and being a success in every sense of the word. just so they could save a couple of bucks.

Rollerdrome: A Perfect Video Game

My definition of "Perfect video game" means nothing more than "perfect to me, Bread, your friendly never posts anymore guy." but Rollerdrome is a perfect video game. Rollerdrome, a game I can't believe is already over a year old, is a combo extreme sports and third person shooter game. If you've seen the movie "The Running Man", put Arnie on classic style roller skates, and you've got Rollerdrome. What Rollerdrome really has though, that vaults it straight onto my list of perfect games, is a blissful state of pure flow. The controls for Rollerdrome are smooth as butter, and the game makes perfect use of slow motion that empowers you to look incredibly cool in the moment, while leaving you hyper vulnerable after. There's varied enemy types, leaving you to figure out which weapon (everything from Lara Croft style dual pistols, to a whole ass laser gun) to use against which enemy in a demented game of Ro-Sham-Bo. There's even a giant spider mech like in the movie Wild Wild West (It may actually be a scorpion or crab, now that I think about it, pretty cool still though). To say the games motion glides along would be to make a pun about the fact the whole game takes place on Rollerskates, and I can't really think of one of those right now, so you'll really just have to take my word for it. There's a story in here too, but it really doesn't come into play much more than posing the very valid question that maybe roller skate based blood sport isn't the best thing in the world , and I don't mean that to sound dismissive, the story is well presented, it's just not much more complex than that. Nor does it have to be, it fits the tone of the game wonderfully.

I implore anyone who grew up liking Tony Hawk, third person shooters, hell even rhythm games to take a look at Rollerdrome. It's a beautifully simple game, perfect to me, and frankly, just a hell of a lot of fun.

Random Song of the Whenever Time!

Well, I've been meaning to get this out earlier but i just got done dealing with 4 days of back to back severe weather. Anyway here's a soundtrack that's grabbed my attention thanks to a video.

I'm a sucker for old synth stuff and a lot of this soundtrack has that Giorgio Moroder feel to it. Like the game, it sounds like the soundtrack for a late 70's early 80's action movie and I can't get enough. Gotta say some of my favorite tracks have to be Zugspitz Station,

Очередная глава эпопеи падения и воскрешения «Private Division».

За «OlliOlli World» и «Rollerdrome» обидно. Благо их уже пообещали вернуть в продажу, но в итоге они останутся у «2K», то есть тех же «Take-Two». А игры яркие и самобытные.

Учитывая, если остальную «Private Division» действительно купят выходцы из «Annapurna Interactive», то там им было бы лучше.

Level 9, Zugspitze Station, getting close to the end of the game so this is a very challenging level with jumps across gaps and lots of AOE enemies covering potential landing areas.
