Howdy folks, the Senate will be considering the first ever resolution blocking arms to Israel. This is huge and historic; it would block government contracting and about $20 billion in arms and support. This is an uphill battle, PLEASE urge your senators to support S.J.Res114-115. This is maybe the most important piece of legislation relating to Palestine that we have ever gotten and we must seize this opportunity.

I think there's something that needs to be said about encouraging readers to leave feedback.

For me it's not about "tell me my writing is amazing and stroke my ego"

It's more about "please engage with me so that I can experience your joy secondhand and foster a connection with you"

I understand that not everyone wants this in their reading experience, some people are shy and a million other reasons why maybe someone wouldn't want to engage and that's perfectly fine!

But what I'm trying to steer away from is being a passive content creator with passive consumers. What I want to steer toward is fostering a community that is essential to fandom. I want to see your reactions because it makes me feel like I'm a part of something.

On encouraging reblogs —

I understand that not everyone is comfortable reblogging, especially explicit content. This is ok!

But just consider that the only reason you were able to enjoy a fic or fanart is because someone else shared it, and by not sharing it yourself you are potentially robbing someone else of the opportunity to enjoy it as much as you did.

As OPs our reach only goes so far and this website relies on reblogs in order for anything to truly get seen by a wider audience.

So that's really it! That's why I encourage these two things at the end of every story I post. Not because I'm trying to be demanding and "make people feel bad" if they don't do it.

I know most other social media sites encourage mindless content consumption and that's just the way of the world nowadays, but I am from a time when community was at the heart of fandom and I just don't want to lose that.

@danashehab has been fundraising since may and is just over €15,000 away from their goal l. as stated in the screenshot people are starting to believe the rafah crossing will open so it’s important to make sure everyone has the funds in case they are allowed to evacuate.

The family has had to raise their goal to cover their extended family’s evacuation fees since they are unable to make a new GFM.

Thanksgiving and Christmas commission slots opening!

There's going to be a week break on thanksgiving for me where I can work on commissions in between working on school assignments, and a two week break after classes ends for me to do whatever the fuck I want later during Christmas time, I might also use the time to do things like make adoptables so look out for that!

You can dm me here to take up a slot and reserve ahead of time, keep in mind that I will not work on your commission until the dates provided, if you take a thanksgiving slot and I do not complete it on time, I will try to do it within the Christmas times allotted (though I will prioritize people who chose to use a Christmas slot), if I do not complete your art work by Christmas you will not need to pay anything. if I complete my thanksgiving queue early, I will work on my Christmas queue early.

If I did partial completion and sent the in progress files to you I will discuss with you for partial compensation.

Q: What is Portal Secret Santa?

A: Portal Secret Santa is a holiday gift-giving event that takes place within the Portal community. You’re randomly assigned to make a gift for someone else who wants to participate, and in return, someone is randomly assigned to make a gift for you. So it’s kinda like a chain of Portal gift-giving. And any Portal fan, regardless of how old or new you are to the fandom, is welcome to participate.

Q: What kinds of gifts does this event require?

A: Anything you can make. It could be a drawing/painting, a fic, a song, a sculpture, a plush, whatever. The only restriction is that it’s gotta be something YOU made, which means no AI generated content or otherwise anything not made directly by you. Knowing that you put your very own time and effort into the gift is part of what makes it special for the recipient.

Q: When will I know who I’m making a present for?

A: It all depends on how fast we can work out pairings. Ideally we should have the prompts out within a few days of the application closing.

Q: When and how do we give our gifts?
