I love your Fiyero design so much I’m chewing on him he’s so pretty <3
Tumblr media
YEAH THE BOYO 🔥🔥🔥 He’s a squeaky toy to be chewed on and he totally enjoys annoying Glinda by also wearing a tiny ponytail ✨
I have such a love hate relationship with him and I’m trying to lean more towards love. Cause he’s just a guy™️ and if you can like. Work out things post act 2, his potential shines a lot more than being just contained within it. For ME at least.
I’m currently trying to get his design more finalized. I do plan to give him his diamond markings and I wanna showcase how he looks in various stages of the story (shiz > emerald city > scarecrow etc) and even in my au’s since he features there too.
Thank you for stopping by! What an honor :D

"Neil could NEVER be queer." is such a stupid argument, not just because everyone can look at a piece of media and make their own assumptions and the relationship between Neil and Todd that can easily be argued as gay but the fundamental of having A Midsummer Nights Dream as the play he performs is already in defiance of that statement.
You have the obvious fact about Neil playing Puck that is a fairy which is a way gay men have been referred to but it lies so much deeper than that. Neil tells his father and friends that he got the main part, Puck. This again isn't exactly true. It's easily arguable that Lysander and Demetrius are more main characters than Puck. If the movie wanted to squash the idea of Neil being queer, why didn't they choose any of those parts for him? They are very heterosexual roles. Their whole plot/arc is this big romance misunderstanding that Puck causes. If the movie didn't even want to entertain the thought about Neil being queer than they could have definitely choose for those roles.
Yeah, you could argue back that Puck was chosen as his role to parallel Puck and Oberon's relationship to Neil and his father and while this is partly true, it still doesn't fully hold up. The only way this is ever referenced in the movie is in the "Oh, room, fairy, here comes Oberon!" scene where Neil's father tells him to quit the play. (I already explored this in this post). That is the only way we are ever eluded to this being a parallel. In the short shots, we get of Neil performing the play, we don't get any scenes of Puck and Oberon together. We strictly get Puck being a fairy. The fairy part is essential here in addition to the relationship Puck and Oberon have. Again if they didn't want to idea of Neil being queer then they could've easily chosen for a different play. There are a lot more plays that were written before the 1950s that included a relationship that could parallel Neil and his father's relationship without there being anything that could insinuate a queer reading. Neil being Puck was deliberately chosen.

also side ramble time, it has already been established that misogyny has seeped through the other gangs' treatment of the warriors (I.e. "late night cosmetology class", repeated use of "girls" rather than calling them women, etc.). with that in mind, I find it very interesting and rather culturally relevant of the writers to have the hurricanes, the one and only gang that lets the warriors off the hook, to be a VOGUE-themed gang that explicitly features black queer individuals! It speaks volumes that amidst the animosity of most of the new york gangs, it was a gang with explicit african-american and latino queer culture through the ballroom scene-themes at the forefront that encourages the main diversion of the warriors (2024) from its predecessors: the recontextualization of the warriors fighting back ESPECIALLY NOW THAT THEY ARE WOMEN and that same changed thread leading to changed motivations and actions from ajax, fox, and hell even mercy as they go through the show.
like, it's a very very fucking nice thing to have the cultures and histories of resistance from the POC queer communities of NYC become the fuel for immense character (and thematic) growth in our version of warriors. Truly a song of resilience and solidarity amongst marginalized sectors

we can all agree that faces like matt damon's were invented in 1922 at the earliest so my question is are there any film actors who do or did have the ancient and/or timeless juice to play the man of many turnings? you have to buy that he is smarter and more cynical than anyone around him but also that he can pull off "jolly backwater lord/everyone's buddy" when necessary. may be (should be?) ugly, MUST have aura. god's favorite. feels weird if he's not short. like, i kind of think odysseus is a bad role for movie actors. their job is to etch a compelling fixed image for endless replay and my man is not a creature of fixed image. his world is not photographable. if you must bring him into this age he should be impossibly charismatic in person but weird-looking and different in every photo. his mouth should always be yapping or his eyes should be closed. if you saw him in the newspaper you shouldn't recognize him in person

When in Rome
Tumblr media
Right, so I write for Mothership RPG, yeah?
It was basically a professional obligation for me to go see Alien: Romulus on its opening weekend.
Tumblr media
Short review: Cool. Though I wish directors would make a new alien horror movie instead of new Alien movies.
Lemme tell ya, I might have designer brain disease, but this movie really is a series of problems for a sci-fi adventure, haha. My favorite thing about this movie was the smart, player-skill level problem solving the characters came up with. I was actually impressed. The film made me want to put my friends through the same ringer, and write up a similar scenario.
So I did.
Tumblr media
When in Rome is a 20pg Mothership RPG adventure module with two player handouts, obviously heavily inspired by Alien: Romulus. I started last weekend, and released it yesterday. (What’s wrong with me, right?). That is: writing, playtesting, Mothership 3pp approval, peer review (thanks Josh Domanski, Christian Sorrell, Iko and Allen Hall!), hiring Brandon Yu “Chaoclypse” for the sick art, revising and putting into layout.
So yeah, this module is basically an adaptation of the film, but it does have some very notable (read: legally distinct) differences.
It's free for the next five hours, and I would love to hear what you think, and how your PCs fare on Caesar/Augustus.
Tumblr media
Click here to download the module on itch.io. Note that I’m still working on the plaintext file and VTT asset updates. I would love to hear what you think, and how your players’ crews fare on Caesar/Augustus.
Good luck.

you are umasou
#I watched it today it was so good#im not big on dinosaur stuff but i like how it was used to approach the predator/prey conversation especially when both sides are sentient#instead of just defaulting to well since predators are meat eaters their actions are automatically immoral so their role in the story#has to match. and then when your characters /are/ meat eaters you just step around that whole topic#heart knows he has to kill and eat so there’s no avoiding it but even he knows he has agency over that#hell he even decided to hunt by himself so umasou doesn’t have to see him kill and eat another dinosaur a day after meeting him#and maybe its because it’s a kids movie but it also doesn’t make a big show over the act of hunting and eating. it doesn’t dwell on it#like yes you can clearly see them ripping into guts minus the graphic details but it doesnt go out of its way to censor it either#its played straight just like hearts mom having more kids like nobody asks who the father is or when that happened cuz it doesn’t matter#what matters is she still loves heart and encourages her kids to greet their big brother and they do!!! it’s sweet#Beckon was also an interesting touch bc they make it clear the only reason he doesnt eat umasou is bc he cant and not that he wouldn’t#but he’s still a funny and interesting character and that doesn’t get in the way of how we see him too much#same for baku he was pretty polite with heart esp from the start when he asks him if hes abandoned implying he would be prepared to#look out for him from the start. and at the end when he decides to spare him. I dont hate him at all hes just intimidating#you are umasou#doodles#I wanted to draw smth more detailed but I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go with the cartoony art style#or smth closer to realistic?? so this is like. some sort of compromise I guess

everyone i see saying "omg oliver really said eat the rich!!!1!111!!!!" are COMPLETELY missing the point of that movie. it was not an "eat the rich movie", it wasn't about class in that sense AT ALL. it was very much about desire and obsession and consumption. not class!!

having Chuuya and Lippman thoughts
Lippman suddenly and dramatically putting on an act as if he's on stage rehearsing lines, and Chuuya used to strangely look at him and pretend like he either didn't see anything or roll his eyes and tell Lippman to save it for the big screen, he doesn't care. but now, Lippman knowing Chuuya has so much potential for acting not just in a movie but for undercover purposes too, with a little persuasion he pulls Chuuya into eventually joining in and it becomes an inside thing between them.
Lippman just starts greeting Chuuya from then on as whatever he feels like acting. one day it's as a socialite, the next it's a detective, and once he approached Chuuya as a car salesman. he's testing to see if Chuuya will go along with it and if Chuuya's capable without breaking character
one day the two are acting out a stand-off with their guns pointed at one another, and all Piano Man can think is, 'here we go again', while Albatross is excitedly watching on the sidelines tempted to join in himself and make it a three-way fight (as himself)
