Date Night
Yay, another blurb!!! I'm really liking writing again. It's been a long time since I've written with joy and no expectations. Also, Robin finally makes an appearance. Kraft Cheese Singles have existed since the 50s. Let that sink in. Anyway, here's the blurb. Hope you enjoy it!!! -Silas
[Steddie}
Steve Harrington was nervous. For the first time in his life, he was nervous. There wasn’t anything that should be causing this anxiety save for the date that he had tonight. He’s had a million dates before, but this one was different. Eddie was different.
“Robin, what do I do,” Steve asked with panic clear in his wide-eyed expression.
Robin looked at Steve like she had many times before and if she had a whiteboard near her, there would be a tally under ‘You Suck’. She rolled her eyes and fixed Steve with a confused glare.
“Steve, I think you’re forgetting three very important things.’
Robin held up three fingers and began to count down as she continued speaking.
“One, I’m more single than a Kraft Single.”
“Two, I’m a raging lesbian.”
“Three, you’re the one who’s had a very fruitful dating life.”
Steve shook his head. He was distraught at Robin’s very sound reasoning. He knew he was being irrational, but it was Eddie. He didn’t know how to go about wooing Eddie.
“Robin,” he whined hoping to wear her down,” This is different. Eddie’s different. Help me please.”
“I can’t help you with this. You’ve already planned it. What do you want me to tell you?”
Steve wanted her to tell Steve that he was doing things right.
“I’m doing it correctly, right?”
Robin sighed at that and shook her head. She looked up into his face and felt her gaze soften at the sight of her platonic soulmate.
“You’re doing fine, dingus. No need to stress,” she paused and rubbed his shoulder soothingly,” You’re doing great so far. Okay, Steve?”
Steve let out a sigh of relief and smiled at her.
“Okay, yeah. Thanks, Robin.”
“You’re welcome, Steve.”
There was a comfortable pause of silence before Robin broke it with a smirk.
“You owe me lunch on Wednesday,” she said as she packed up to head home.
Steve rolled his eyes with a grin.
“Whatever you say, Rob.”
Steve stood in front of the familiar trailer with roses in his hand. He was stressed and his once perfectly styled locks were now disheveled with the numerous times he had run his hands through it. He chewed his lower lip nervously before running his hand through his hair again. Finally, he bit the bullet and knocked on the door.
Steve listened amused as someone stumbled through the trailer, seeming to trip multiple times and stubbing something as Steve heard a quiet ‘God dammit’ and ‘Son of a bitch’.
The door flew open as Eddie came into Steve’s view. Steve felt his breath leave him as he took in the perfection that was Eddie Munson.
Eddie always looked good, but today he had Steve close to busting. Those dark curls were pulled up into a high ponytail with a few strands falling out around his face. His eyes somehow popped more than usual and his rings were polished to perfection. He had a Dio shirt that had probably seen better days on and a pair of jeans with not a rip in sight. His belt and chains completed the entire thing and made Steve fall for him all over again.
Suddenly, confidence and charm flooded his system.
“Hey gorgeous, ready for our date?”
Eddie grinned and responded in kind.
“I don’t know big boy, am I?”
With no hesitation, Steve handed Eddie the flowers with a wink.
“Not until you put those flowers away, wouldn’t want them withering, left to their own devices.”
Eddie flushed at what Steve was implying. Maybe Eddie had been right to think that he would be with Steve for a lot longer than just a date.
“Hold on,” Eddie said, still bright red in the face.
The flowers were placed in water and left on the kitchen counter with care. Eddie grabbed his jacket, keys, cigs, lighter, and whatever else he thought he needed. He locked the door before following Steve to the car. He watched Steve with a pounding heart and a face blushing even more than before as Steve opened the door for him.
“After you m’lord,” Steve said with a flourishing bow.
“I love it when you start speaking nerdy with me.”
“Good, cause there’s a lot more for later when we’re in a more,” he paused leaning in until his mouth brushed against Eddie’s ear,” private situation.”
Eddie felt a moan bubble up in his throat at the feel of Steve on his ear. He managed to trap it, but God, Steve was driving him up the wall.
They buckled up and Steve turned to Eddie.
“Let’s get going, shall we?”
Eddie nodded, not trusting his words. Steve grinned at that entwining his fingers with Eddie’s before peeling out of the trailer park to their date of the evening.

Another thought: the Old English poem Deor is narrated by a character inserted into the eternal battle of Hjandiningavig, but almost all its allusions are to the Dietrich cycle. From start to end we hear of Wayland chained with snakes (or attacked with snake-like swords), Beadohild pregnant and abandoned, Geat and Maethild robbed of sleep, Dietrich exiled for thirty years with his followers the Maerings, Ermanaric torturing his subjects as they long for their rightful king (Dietrich). Of all these, Geat and Maethild is the only one that can't be placed in context in Scandinavian or continental sources. There's supposedly scholarly consensus that it refers to Harpans Kraft, a Scandinavian ballad which stars lovers called Gauti and Mathilda, where Mathilda is tortured by nightmares before her wedding day, and despite Gauti's attempts to protect her, she is abducted by a merman, but when Gauti plays beautiful music on his harp, the appreciative merman surrenders her back to him. The issue is that I'm not sure how this connects to the rest of the episodes, as they seem to be a chronological list of events in the Dietrich cycle. We know exactly what the troubles are and how they'll pass. Wayland escapes his captivity by flying off, leaving Beadohild pregnant. Her son will be Wudga, who she'll send to reunite with his father, and who will alternate his loyalties between Ermanaric and Dietrich. Dietrich will remain in exile as Ermanaric usurps his rightful throne, but he will return in triumph and kill Ermanaric, which will also relieve the pains of the Gothic nation as a whole. The only part that doesn't link up is Geat and Maethild. As presented in the poem, their story happens between Wayland's escape and Dietrich's exile, but what role they play in Dietrich's story is likely forgotten.
Oh, yeah, you're right -- that is quite an ambiguous passage, and it would make a lot a sense, in terms of fitting in the context of the poem, if it was referring to a lost tradition.
I wish I could offer some additional info about how it's been analyzed, but the only paper coming to mind is this one... which I actually haven't read, despite telling myself "yeah, okay, one day I'll do the "read 100 free articles per month" thing on Jstor for who even knows how long now. XD

{Here they are: some of my other JJBA OCs.}
Tumblr media
{They all live in Canada.}
{To give a breakdown:
First is Minerva Novoselic (any pronouns), generally just known as 'Nirv'. They're fairly close with Payton. He's American, born to Croatian parents, but ran away due to complicated circumstances related to being a Stand User and ended up in Canada somehow. She's apagender and apapronomial, meaning they have no strong feelings about gender or how they are referred to. They would identify their orientation as uranic, denoting attraction to masculinity and androgyny, but not femininity. Their Stand, 「In Utero」, is a heart-shaped biscuit tin that contains... something. The thing is that if Nirv opens it, it simply functions as any other biscuit tin would. It's when someone else opens the tin that things get a little... crazy.
Second is Payton Ramora (any pronouns), a rough street kid who came to mainland America from Puerto Rico with family, and then ended up alone in Canada, living off the streets until meeting Nirv and Loituma. They frequently try to 'rob' people, often in a very flippant manner, and also frequently pickpocket and steal with help from their Stand. They're never seen without a knife in their hand, and despite the fact that their hat is placed precariously and their hair (which is draped around their shoulder and covers most of their face) does not appear to be fastened to anything, neither ever seem to fall out of place. Their Stand is complicit in most of this. Fascinatingly, 「Misery Business」 controls grip strength. It can use this to make things unable to be loosened. Payton’s knife cannot be forcibly removed from their hand because their grip cannot be loosened. Their hair is, most likely, clipped in place in the back with a tiny clip. No matter how shitty the hold/clip, it cannot be loosened any further, meaning their hair will never come undone. Even though the whole hairstyle is not clipped the whole way through, it’s still part of the same clip, so no part will slip out of place much. Not only can it (like 「Kraft Work」, in a way) make a grip unable to loosen, but it can also make a grip unable to hold, making it versatile for use on others. Payton is apapronomial and apagender, like Nirv. Their orientation can be described as triniy, denoting attraction to primarily femininity, androgyny and neutrality, and loss often, masculinity.
Third is Loituma Autere (she/her), a Finnish (by birth) and Canadian (naturalised) dual citizen. She lives in Canada with her aunt, who is fairly influential, and her uncle. She's a girl, presumably cis, and sapphic. Her Stand is 「Dissertation Polkka」, and it's a bit complex to explain. In short, it connects any two open gateways. A gateway is defined as any cleanly defined opening, entryway or frame. This includes doorways, window frames, box openings, fridge doorways and cabinet doorways. Every "frame" is considered a pair of gateways, an "entry" gateway through which you go in, and an "exit" gateway, through which you exit the frame. By connecting separate entry and exit gateways, going through one gateway will result in coming out of the other. This can be used to travel far distances, even across countries, as any open gateway can count.
Fourth is Char Goodman (she/her). She's Canadian-born, half-Cambodian, and is known to be very detached from other people. She's got an odd fascination with death and decay, and in that vein, her Stand, 「Good Charlotte」, controls rot based on movement and proximity, by turning the pages of a book the Stand manifests as. I've described it in the above chart as, essentially, a poor man's 「Green Day」. She is greyaroace (sometimes also called greyrose), denoting that while she feels that aroace describes part of her experience, it does not do so fully, and greygender, denoting a weak attachment to gender in general.
Fifth is Tokyo (she/it), who is... a bit strange. It's not really her fault. She was the sole survivor of some horrific accident and touted as a medical miracle for having survived. And as one may expect, some unprofessional personnel and a medical miracle may lead to a bit of malpractice. So why does she look so fucked up? Because she just escaped the hospital, basically. The accident she survived set her back mentally, so she's a bit fucked up there too. Tokyo is not actually her name, it's just where she's from. She cannot speak English very well but still speaks Japanese just fine. I describe her gender as Vanistic, a gender related to one's whole body or full face being bandaged and what lies beneath those bandages is meant to be kept underneath. To clarify further, the bandages as they are now were not applied by medical staff but applied by her herself after she'd escaped. Her Stand, 「Unravel」, strips away layers of a person's identity to allow Tokyo to learn about them, and unravels the victim's physical form and perception partially in the process.
Sixth is Américo Rechazo (he/him), a Puerto Rican who frankly is not quite sure what he's doing in Canada. Hell, most of his background is shrouded in mystery, even to him, and it might be related to his Stand, 「Dirty Little Secret」, which causes secrets that are subject to broken confidence to be quickly forgotten by everyone - including the person who originally told the secret! He's male, but quoisexual, which perhaps implies that he's also forgotten his own orientation...
Seventh is Lundi Fog (she/xem), possibly of Kenyan and English descent but has never indicated that she's ever lived anywhere but Canada. Xe identifies with gendergoth (a gender best described as "goth") and nightmaregender (a xenogender related to nightmares, bad dreams, illusions, or other 'horrors' that happen in one's sleep), and identifies xyr orientation as xenxic, denoting xenic attraction to women and those who are woman-aligned (XLW). Her Stand, 「Red Tide」, well... I'm not quite sure what it does yet. But my current idea is that it can manifest whatever dream someone's had last, or whatever dream they're currently having, or otherwise manifest objects from whatever dream they've had last. But I'm not sure yet. All I know is it's dream-related. Lundi lives with Xavier.
Eighth up, Xavier (he/him) is a Canadian-born boy with no particular other heritage, being essentially just a nth-generation French Canadian. He's neurodivergent, perhaps autistic, with a particular interest in music. He's Lundi's roommate and works part-time as a DJ. I've described his gender as neurotix-boy, denoting that he has a masculine gender that's in some way influenced by neurodivergence. He's also bisexual. Above, I've described his Stand, 「D.A.N.C.E」 as simply "rhythm mime". To put it into further detail, Xavier can make anything he's miming out can manifest tangibly so long as he's keeping rhythm to something. It's quite useful for him.
Lastly, April Fools (he/they), is an ethnically Russian-Japanese kid, though he's legally Czech. He's demiboy and a gendercollector wrapped under the label of layergender, a gender which is (to nobody's surprise) built in layers, but obviously, I could not fit all of his genders on here. Jestergender. Definitely jestergender. He's also Demi-Bisexual. I've already explained his Stands in another post. }

Nightwing, who just got thrown through the window of a pub and slid gently down the bar:
Gothamite that Does Not Give a Singular Fuck: … Come here often?
Nightwing, in pain but without hesitation: Surprisingly so.
---
Batman after fighting a villain, finding an officer putting a parking ticket on the Batmobile: … Really?
Officer: I don't give a damn if you're saving the city. If you can break parking laws then what's to stop you taking over?
Batman, completely baffled by his logic:
Officer: Gotta enforce the little stuff.
Batman:
Officer: If you don't like it you can challenge it in court.
Red Hood, who just showed up: PLEASE challenge it in court.
---
Gothamite, flirtatiously: So, what's a gal gotta do to get you guys's attention? Dress up in a gaudy outfit and threaten to blow up city hall?
Nightwing: Well yes, but I would strongly not recommend it. Wrong kind of attention.
Red Robin: What you want to do is dress up in a catsuit and rob rich people.
Red Hood: High profile rich people. Might I suggest Bruce Wayne? It's funny how easy it is to steal his crap.
Nightwing and Red Robin now looking directly at Red Hood:
Red Hood: Real funny. So funny. Lazer grids ain't shit if you know how to spot 'em funny.
---
Gothamite being carried to safety by Batman: Sooooo… do the butts match?
---
Gothamite: Isn't it a school night, young man?
Robin(Damian), unintentionally mimicking Batman's cadence: Crime doesn't stop for school nights.
Gothamite, after the boy leaves: … That was way funnier than it should've been.
---
Gothamite 1, watching a fight in the distance: … You ever notice how many flips Nightwing does in comparison to the other bats?
Gothamite 2, watching with them: Yeeeeaaaah… do you think he does parkour?
Gothamite 1: Wh- they all do parkour, Susan.
Gothamite 2: Wait, shit, I meant acrobatics.
Gothamite 1: Yeah. He's doing them right now.
Gothamite 2: You know what I mean!
Gothamite 1: Do I??
---
Gothamite: You remind me of my first dog, Tod.
Red Hood, genuinely confused: … Is that an insult? Are you insulting me?
Gothamite: Mean and scary on the outside and to those he hates, but kind and gentle to those that need it.
Red Hood, trying not to tear up: Oh.
---
Gothamite kid through their open window: Hey! You busy?
Batman, looking up at the kid: ?
Gothamite kid: My parents aren't home 'cus they work a lot, and I don't know how to work the stove and I don't want cereal for dinner again. Can you help me?
Batman: *inhale* …
-abt 10 minutes later-
Batman, stirring the pot of kraft macaroni while reading the box: Next, we're going to want to add in the cheese packet. Can you do that for me?
Gothamite kid, standing on a step stool to reach the pot while excitedly holding the instant cheese package: Yeah!! *awkwardly rips it open and dumps in the contents*
Batman, barely hiding a smile: Hn, stirring with all these ingredients is rather difficult. Do you think you can handle it?
Gothamite kid, giddy: YEAH!!! *grabs the spoon and stars mixing with all the gusto a kid can offer*
Random convo I bet happen between civilians and vigilantes
Civilian: What hair product do you use man?? My man's hair is shiiiiining
Nightwing, chuckling: I just let it dry (lying)
Civilian: Naaaah, man I see you jumping from rooftop to rooftop everyday, tell me your secrets–
---
Gothamite: And who's gonna pay for this scratch on my car?!!!
Robin (Tim), trying damn hard to stay stealth: Don't you have insurance?
Gothamite, don't giving a fuck: No!
Robin: You should have–
Gothamite: You know what? HEY TWO-FACE–
Robin: No, no, no– Hold on–
Gothamite: HE'S RIGHT HE–
---
Gothamite: Okay- Cannabis is very much legal in L.A.
Batman: We're not in L.A.
Gothamite: Yeah that's funny because– *runs*
Batman: *Runs after him.*
---
Gothamite: See I don't hate you
Signal: Always good to hear that–
Gothamite: You doing a pretty good job.
Signal: I–
Gothamite, also a bus driver: But you gotta stop being thrown at my window–
Signal: I don't control where villains throw me.
Gothamite: Yeah bro– But you better start, otherwise there's gonna be one more out there–
---
Gothamite, also a security guard on his phone at 3 am: Yeah, no honey it's literally desert here–
Gothamite: HOLY SHIT
Batman:
Gothamite: Fucking warn a guy, mY GOD–
---
Gothamite: I thought you were taller.
Nightwing: I heard that a lot.
---
Gothamite: How do you see on that thing?
Batgirl (Cassandra):
Batgirl: I don't.
Gothamite, terrified: Oh okay–
---
Batman: Shouldn't you be at home?
Gothamite, who's also a teenager very much snicking out at four am: Shouldn't you mind you business?
Batman:
After being forcefully driven to home on the batmobile
Gothamite That was really unecessary–
---
Gothamite: Are you alone??? Where'd your dad? Where's Batman?
Robin (Tim Drake, early days): Batman's not my dad.
Gothamite:
Gothamite: See now I'm concerned.
Robin: Oh no–
Gothamite: What's is this a internship...? A job...?
Robin: You know what? Yeah, Pretty much.
Gothamite: Really? Oh okay, okay. I'm less concerned– Because–
Robin: Yeah I can see–
Gothamite: Like "is he kidnaping those children"?
Robin, chuckling: No, no–
Gothamite: You get paid?
Robin: Not really.
Gothamite: I'm back at being concerned–
---
Gothamite, from her window: Have you eaten yet?
Robin (Dick): No– (lying)
Gothamite: Oh, the poor child– Oh shame on you
Batman:
Gothamite: The poor kid– You're dragging him alone with you to fight crime on a empty stomach?
Batman:
Batman: I–
Gothamite: Unbelievable. I expected more on you– Hold on sweety I'll see If I have some cookies here to give you.
Dick: :)
---
Robin (Damian): Do I look like a fucking child?
Gothamite: Do you want me to answer that?
---
Old Gothamite being around the city since Batman year 1: You sound different.
Batman (Dick Grayson): No I don't.
Gothamite: Yes you do–
---
Gothamite: She looks different.
Gothamite: Mark is the same girl.
Gothamite: No honey, she looks different, she's was taller
Gothamite: Honey you're being paranoid.
Gothamite: She was a red-head!
Gothamite: Oh, Mark. Now the girl can't even dye her hair? Just because she's a Super-hero? Por girl can't even reinvent herself and people on this city start saying she's a different person?! Let her be! Her life must've be hard enough–
Gothamite: Jennet I swear to God that's not the same girl–
Batgirl (Stephanie), just trying to get some information:
Gothamite: You never notice when I change my hair–

[ad_1] Gronk: Belichick is ‘grandfathered' in, only one way he leaves the Patriots originally appeared on NBC Sports BostonStanding at 2-10, the New England Patriots are off to their worst start in franchise history. Although things continue to get worse, failing to score a touchdown in their last three games, former tight end Rob Gronkowski still can't imagine the Kraft family will fire head coach Bill Belichick. While many already know how impactful Belichick has been for the Patriot organization, creeping up on Don Shula's record of 347 total wins, the past few years have not been kind. Since the departure of Tom Brady, New England have struggled, posting a record of 27-35. Because of their recent failures, Belichick is only three losses away from becoming the coach with the most career losses of all-time with 165.Even with the recent struggles, Gronkowski believes that Belichick's position is his for as long as he wants it to be."The only way I would say he would coach somewhere else is if it's mutually agreed upon between both parties," the four-time Super Bowl champion said on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams. "That's the only way I see that happening."Rumors have started to fly on social media about what the Patriots will look like next season -- from who will be playing quarterback, what receivers New England will add to the roster, and if Belichick will still be on the sidelines. Belichick has historically been a great coach but has struggled to the Patriots rebuild post-Brady.Also playing the role of general manager, Belichick has whiffed on pick after pick in the NFL draft and continuously signs the wrong players. From drafting N'Keal Harry and Tyquan Thornton in the first and second rounds over guys like AJ Brown and George Pickens, respectively, Belichick has failed to show he can build a team effectively through the draft. This past offseason, Belichick also let Jakobi Meyers walk in favor of signing JuJu Smith-Schuster. Through Week 13 -- and on a comparable contract -- Meyers has logged 52 receptions for 591 yards and six touchdowns compared to Smith-Schuster's 25 receptions for 170 yards and one touchdown."I feel like he's grandfather-claused in," Gronkowski added of Belichick's job security. "He's been there for so long, he's done so much great -- six Super Bowl wins. Just taking the team from rock-bottom back in the day, end of the '90's to the early 2000's, to bringing them to the promised land for all of New England. Just give it some time and we'll be seeing what happens from here."While some fans may not agree, Gronkowski's field of thought is that Belichick has done enough for the franchise that he's earned some job safety through the bad years. With only a few days to recover from Sunday's abysmal 6-0 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Patriots will look to bounce back on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Currently projected to draft at the two spot, a loss to the Steelers would increase their chances of landing the coveted number one pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. [ad_2] Source link

KK's Priest veröffentlichen Video zu Sons Of The Sentinel
Tumblr media
K.K. PFAS & Parts Obsolescence: Act Now to Avoid Disruptions
One of the largest manufacturers in the world, 3M, announced in December 2022 that it would no longer produce or use per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Since 3M sells over 60,000 products to industries like automotive, construction, electronics, energy, healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation, the company's decision to stop making and using PFAS has an impact on thousands of businesses all the way down the supply chain to end users who rely on its properties.
In addition to the major manufacturer, other businesses have eliminated PFAS from their supply chains. Numerous factors, including increasing regulations, litigation, investor and customer pressure, and general concern about the effects of PFAS on the environment and health, are prompting others to follow suit. As a result, manufacturers will start to worry a lot about parts going out of style. You will be able to better manage disruptions in your supply chain if you now prepare for this problem by knowing where PFAS might be present in your products and processes.
What is driving suppliers to get rid of PFAS from their supply chains? Because of their strong chemical bonds, PFAS do not degrade over time. Due to their resistance to degradation and the potential for accumulation in the body, they have been dubbed "forever chemicals." The use of PFAS has been shown to have adverse effects on human health and the environment.
Regulators have begun to restrict the use of PFAS and are beginning to take action. Manufacturers can anticipate new regulations from multiple levels of government in 2023. One example is the Maine reporting and restriction law, An Act To Stop Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances Pollution, which took effect on January 1, 2023. This law prohibits the sale of certain products with intentionally added PFAS and requires manufacturers to report those products. Unless the Maine Department of Environmental Protection deems the use of PFAS to be a "currently unavoidable use," the prohibition will eventually apply to all products by 2030. Similar regulations are currently being proposed by a number of additional states.
Additionally, public awareness of PFAS and their harmful effects on human health and the environment is growing. PFAS-related lawsuits against chemical manufacturers and downstream businesses that use the chemicals in their processes or products are becoming more common. Companies that advertise their products as "safe," "healthy," "all-natural," or "sustainable" despite the fact that the products contain PFAS are also the targets of a rapidly expanding trend of class action lawsuits for fraudulent claims.
Famous lawsuits involving PFAS contamination or false advertising claims include the following:
California is a state: Major manufacturers, including 3M and DuPont, were accused by Attorney General Rob Bonta of putting human health in danger and causing irreparable damage to natural resources. 3M: In 2018, the manufacturer settled a lawsuit for $850 million USD for contaminating Minnesota groundwater. Corteva, Chemours, and DuPont: In 2021, the chemical companies settled claims of PFAS contamination for $4 billion USD. 3M Belgium: In order to remove PFAS contamination in Flanders, the manufacturer agreed to pay €571 million to settle a lawsuit in 2022. Thinx: After testing revealed the presence of short-chain PFAS in its products, despite claims that they were safe and sustainable, the company settled for up to $5 million USD. Heinz Kraft: Because its supposedly "all-natural" Capri Sun Strawberry Kiwi juice contains PFAS, it has been sued for deceptive marketing practices. Coca-Cola: suing for claiming that its Simply Tropical fruit juice is natural despite having levels of PFAS hundreds of times higher than the federal advisory limit for drinking water. Additionally, insurance companies have begun to pay attention to PFAS. They don't want to risk having to pay for lawsuits or the costs of cleaning up after decades of contamination. When manufacturers are insured, insurers will impose stricter regulations on PFAS in supply chains, placing an additional burden on these businesses.
In addition, a group of significant investors has urged manufacturers to eliminate PFAS from their supply chains. In November 2022, a gathering of 47 resource directors with $8 trillion USD under administration called upon makers to get rid of PFAS use.
Suppliers like 3M have begun removing PFAS from their supply chains as a result of all of these pressures. Manufacturers are impacted by their decision because they may now face early part obsolescence.
What Does Manufacturer Obsolescence Mean for Parts? Manufacturers will have difficulty locating the components they require to create their products as suppliers eliminate PFAS from their supply chains.
Three outcomes are possible: Manufacturers may be required to redesign their products, compete for parts, or invest in new capital equipment. Because other manufacturers will also need to purchase new PFAS-free parts, they'll have to compete for them. In the beginning, few suppliers will be able to meet the demand for these parts, which will lead to delays and disruptions in the supply chain.
Obsolete parts may also necessitate product redesign. The process of redesigning a product is costly and time-consuming. In order for a product to be permitted by national authorities to be sold in their market after it has been redesigned, it may need to undergo requalification or recertification (which also adds time and costs).
As PFAS are gradually transitioned away from of the production network, makers' activities might be influenced. Equipment maintenance and repair parts with PFAS-embedded gaskets or seals, for example, may become difficult or impossible to obtain, necessitating last-minute purchases and eventually hampering the ability to maintain equipment (and manufacturing lines). In addition, when PFAS chemicals are necessary for a process (such as chrome plating), new chemicals may need to be discovered, which may necessitate modifications to processing equipment. Other operational strategies and activities could be affected by unanticipated increases in capital expenditures for new equipment.
It can be challenging to comprehend the supply chain locations of the thousands of PFAS chemicals that are utilized globally. Compliance with regulations and anticipating other business drivers like early obsolescence risk become extremely difficult as a result.
Manufacturers can more easily identify their risks thanks to Acquis' comprehensive visibility into their supply chain. Protecting your market access, our EU REACH Restrictions solution collects data from supply chains to identify PFAS risks. In addition, manufacturers can demonstrate PFAS due diligence to customers, regulators, investors, and insurers with the assistance of deep supply chain visibility.
