I often think about the roadtrip au when I'm sad, because it's supposed to be an uplifting story in my head, but I never post anything about it… here's a little fake screenshot exercise for y'all!(Tails's hair is a mess to figure out, as always :p)

This dress is… well. But in the au Tails rarely wears subdued colors, they moreso more often look as if a rainbow or a pack of crayons threw up on them, so let's just say they weren't prepared with a better outfit, haha ^^"

☆Tales from the cafe☆

Infinite and Amy are two college students working at Vanilla's Delight. The AU follows both young adults and their day to day life.

☆Hunter's Possession☆

Infinite, an ex-mercenary turned monster hunter, sets out to hunt Shadow, a dangerous vampire who lives in the middle of the woods. Little did he know that on his journey, he would be stuck with a poltergeist. [Mephinite, Sonadow]

☆Band AU☆

Piko Piko Shoot formed by best friends Amy, Gadget and Barry, tries their best to get their little garage band popular and follow the steps of their idols: Phantom Ruby and Chaos Blast [Infidget, Sonadow]

☆Organic Metal Sonic☆

Metal, now known as Merlin, tried to adapt to a life as an organic hedgehog. [Metamy]

☆Roadtrip AU☆

Sensing that Mephiles and Mimic needed a break from their daily lives, Infinite steals a van and drags them into a roadtrip. Oh, and Metal's there too. [Mephinite]

Self explanatory, there's plot but it's kinda incoherent.

Yoooo!! Another fellow underground AU maker!!! I am loving your idea of a roadtrip to go see Aleena and especially like how Tails is in the know about the siblings while Sonic is uncharacteristically sweating bullets about having a bio family. I love shenanigans. Do Manic and Sonic compare notes about living by themselves on the streets/in the wilds for fun? I think that would be fun. Also Manic being the one to scam Sonia is HILARIOUS.

I think it's less that he's sweating bullets about it and moreso that, like... Sonic has gotten by and is loving the life that he has, he's never needed a biological family, he doesn't need or want those kinds of roots, y'know? But then the fact that his bio family is out there is presented to him and suddenly it's like 'Well you're gonna go and find them aren't you? You're gonna go and find out where you came from, who you are?' But obviously that basically fundamentally goes against who Sonic IS like as a person, character, whatever. He's all about forging your own path and moving forward, who you Have Been is less important than who you Can Be Right Now. and going out of his way to uncover a past that doesn't really Matter in the current moment would probably just feel weird. In my notes about the letter Sonic receives Tails asks him if he's gonna go and find Aleena, Sonic is like, nah. The letter says I don't have to. This was closure for her I'm sure, but I don't need a mom, never have, smiles and shrugs and Tails is like :/ Okay... Because, Tails on the other hand I think would be endlessly curious about it, actually finding out where Sonic comes from and what his family is like would Really intrigue him dsfhjdf

Yes!! I do feel like Sonic growing up and getting by on his own would likely instantly put Manic more at ease around him, like it would be easier for them to empathise with each other given their situations than it would be for Sonia since they would both get the 'You gotta do what you gotta do' mindset, where because of how she was raised and how sheltered she would have been Sonia just sees Manic as a thief and, well, stealing is bad it's a crime lol

Obviously overtime as they have to get to know each other she learns from them about how the world actually is lol and gains sympathy, but not before she goes off at Manic for taking advantage of a poor young woman who was all alone like that and possibly stranding her >:( and Manic is like I saw a rich lady who wouldn't miss a couple bucks, can't blame a dude for taking what he can get lol she's like COUPLE BUCKS?? YOU TOOK MY ENTIRE TRAVEL BUDGET. and Manic steps behind Sonic GJHFGH

My favorite season is 02, and the amount of SKA in the original dub compilation of the first movies has imprinted itself in my brain forever and the way they played the music with the action sequences was SO GOOD Alterlife - Rina Sawayama - Every single Rina song SLAPS without questions. This is no different Deadlock - Go! Child - One of those songs that feels so easy to sing in the best way. Lovely little earworm One Way Dream - Nathan Sharp (Sonic Frontiers) - Okay, Here's the Sonic song. The amount of songs they fit into Frontiers was Incredible and I love every single one of them Rainbow - Noel Shiri - If you haven't listened to Noel Shiri's album Dirty Calender, y'all need to do it Right Now A Girl Named Tex - Trocadero - Buddy got me into RvB a few months ago, and now dozens of those songs are in my big honking playlist, this one included. Oh Tex, one of my absolute faves... Bet - Rio Romeo - Ohhhhh this song is now solidly hand in hand with a relationship in the Roadtrip AU and it makes me emotional whenever it starts playing Love Like You - Rebecca Sugar - Steven Universe songs my BELOVED. I love how this one got revealed overtime and how it ties in with Rose's story Eye Know - De La Soul (Mutant Mayhem) - Who else downloaded the entirety of the MM soundtrack upon exiting theatre raise your hand

a little bit of insider information … i took some more heavy inspiration from lego monkie kid—specifically w/ the samadhi fire, but i didn’t want the samadhi fire. you know. so i figured, “what better roadtrip adventure with multiple pieces and can validly have a piece locked inside of a person on their crew?” and i thought chaos emeralds. so sonic’s successor and maz’s best friend (to shadows distaste), aster, has the seventh chaos emerald locked inside of him. not sure how it would work but it’s cool in concept

Currently Watching: The Ahsoka show, with extreme trepidation and lingering disappointment, rewatching Star Wars Rebels, which is not helping the Ahsoka bitterness, just finished all 5 seasons of Cobra Kai yesterday and already writing a ridiculous long fic that I’ll never publish for it, and trying to make my way through Leverage Season 2. Busy summer for someone who doesn’t watch TV a lot

Next on my Watchlist: Don’t have anything, so it’ll probably end up being another X2/X-men the Last Stand rewatch (yes I like X3, I know, I feel like it’s kind of impossible to disagree with Magneto in it. Also Allerdrake) because I am in a Mood and the ‘What’s your real name?’ scene means so so much to me as a trans guy

Current Obsession: Cobra Kai, baby. Haven’t binged a show this fast since I was an isolated, traumatized 12-year old clinging to Rebels for dear life, which says some things about me, I think. But the gay karate show (which is trying very hard not to be gay and isn’t very accurate with the karate) is holding me down by the throat like the s4 haircut scene and I am in deep. The fanfic is great, the fandom is kind of dormant, so there’s no drama, and I actually know shit about karate! Restraining myself from creating a Cobra Kai Star Wars au or a Star Wars Cobra Kai au

AU & fic ideas masterpost

I just thought I'd put it down for myself, but if any of those interests you, feel free to ask me questions about them! (Most of them are Tails-centric because of course they are)

General ideas & aus building off the mainline setting

I probably wouldn't actually write fics about those but but some of them hardly qualify as "aus" to me. Also most of those don't have actual names

Sunflower au – this is just my general Tails-centric au where I dump all of my worldbuilding headcanons. I base some of the other aus off it.

Roadtrip au – this one is about Tails and Sage as adults going on another soul-searching roadtrip.

The one with Tails's parents – ok I firmly believe that Tails doesn't need parents in canon and I'm glad that it's left up to interpretation, but I was like "what if he has a human name because one of his parents was a human?" And then it kinda happened.

Parents au – similar name to the other one but this one is actually about Knuckles, Amy and Sonic coparenting Tails together. Everyone is older in this au, except for Tails.

Tailswap – this one is just Tails getting bodyswapped with a version of himself from another universe where he only has one tail. They try to swap back (It's not compatible with some of the other aus because alternative universe Miles has different parents)

Bodyswap au - another bodyswap idea, but this time it's the core four getting swapped around. It's just shenanigans all the way through.

Storybook au - this one is just the classic "characters get trapped in a book and have to finish the fairytales to get out", this already kinda happened to Sonic, but this time it's with 6 more people. (Each for a chaos emerald). Each of them is the main character of their own fairytale and they only recover their memories when they get to the end of their story and get the chaos emerald (this part is inspired by the iseakai stories Sonic Channel is doing rn)

Sickfic idea - Tails gets sick for the first time after meeting Sonic. This one I kinda do want to make into a fic.

Memory loss idea - basically Sonic gets a... very specific fantasy version of memory loss (accident in Tails's lab). It's meant to explore how unconventional Sonic and Tails's sibling dynamic is to an outsider, except the "outsider" here is Sonic himself.

Hanahaki idea - I honestly don't have anything specific for it, but maybe I'll come up with something.

Anti au - basically Sonic & his closest friends (at least Tails and Amy, I'm not sure what I want to do with Knuckles here) are... well not evil necessarily, but they cause destruction with no regard for others, they just want to have fun mostly and don't care who gets in the way. Eggman is still not a good person, but he's not as open about his villainy and tries to present a good image to the public. I need a better name for this.

Alvin and the Chipmunks crossover - I just feel that the aatc cast would fit so perfectly into the world of Sonic. I don't know.

Aus that are more explicitly alternative universes

Superhero au - this also doubles as a high school au. It's the classic teenage superhero thing, but it's probably my favourite au and I have a lot of stuff for it.

Magical girl au - magical girls! and boys. Chaos emeralds help the characters transform so it's only 7 people getting the power. Each of them gets a unique power that they can use even without the transformation (for example for Sonic it would be his speed, etc.)

Tangled - au based specifically on Tangled the Series. It's mostly me putting the Sonic characters into scenes from the show and amusing myself with it.

Wizard of Oz - not actually based on the Wizard of Oz, mostly its vibe. Cream and Shadow are the main characters there.

Actual Wizard of Oz au - au where the characters take on the roles of the Oz characters from the first book. It's kind of supposed to be a comedy, all the characters know they're doing a parody.

Aus that are based on specific adaptations

Ever After High au - that's what it is. I'm having a bit of a trouble assigning the characters fairytales, especially Knuckles (he's a very important character there)

Magic School au - eah au is too complicated with assigning the characters and all, so I've decided to also make a regular magic school au

Aosth au with Amy and Metal Sonic - exactly what it says it is. Except Amy has a plot with Scratch and Grounder, while Sonic and Tails try to fight Metal Sonic. It's mostly about Scratch and Grounder leaving Robotnik and Amy becoming a freedom fighter in her own right.

Au based on the Martin Adams novels (with Amy and Metal Sonic) – Metal Sonic here is actually the character that already exists in the novels, I'm just making them into this universe's version of Metal Sonic. But this au is actually mostly about Sonic & Tails's relationship. Sonic has a quarter life crisis.

Boom au where Tails does become Eggman's lab assistant - ok so you know how in like episode 3 Tails offers to become Eggman's lab assistant for the return of his robot, but then the team gets him out before he signs the contract? But what if they were too late? This au is mostly Tails and Eggman being insufferable to each other, also it could be an interesting challenge to rewrite s1 episodes to be without Tails.

Au where Aosth Tails ends up in the Boom universe - exactly what it says it is. It's mostly shenanigans.
