hot take i guess but like. i also am against advertisements and changing the UI and locking features behind paywalls etc etc like i do think that stuff sucks. additionally it is obvious that the moderation system as it currently exists is particularly biased against e.g. trans women among others, and it sucks shit and is unacceptable and the fact that so little has been done to address or even sufficiently respond to it is egregious. like. it makes my blood boil fr.

that being said i dont rly relate to the immediate extreme hostility that many users seem to have towards any/all attempts to monetize the site (via advertising, merch, badges/gifts, etc). like, at the end of the day i do want this website to keep existing, and i think there's a misconception that "giving tumblr money" is in excess to a profit they're already making off users. and like, as far as i'm aware, tumblr is not and never has been profitable-- as far as i'm aware, almost no social media site has ever been truly profitable, getting down to the fact that it is massively expensive to operate. every single post, image, video, etc. that exists on tumblr is stored physically in a server somewhere that requires space, power, resources, and upkeep. real human labor goes into maintaining both the physical & digital site. etc etc.

i keep seeing posts going around complaining that tumblr is catering to "new" users who don't actually exist, that the majority of the userbase is people who have been here for years, seemingly unaware that the lack of growth is the exact problem the changes are trying to address. the idea is that they must draw in new users because their numbers are stagnant. and yeah, it's in the hopes of making money!

like, i don't want to sound like i think this stuff is above criticism. it isn't, and as mentioned there are a lot of issues with the site! the new ui changes are frustrating and ugly, not to mention inaccessible; the moderation is transmisogynistic and unfairly biased in general; tumblr live & data collection are can of worms too big to even get into here. all this sucks and vry much should be complained about & like, i also fucking hate that everything has to be driven by profit & growth in the soul-sucking capitalist hellscape etc. i just also like, understand ig that as things are now, if tumblr the website wants to keep existing then it needs to make money, and i want it to keep existing. i've been on this site for over a decade, i'm not too cool to admit how important it's been to me socially. the other sites and forums i once used are now either gone, dead, or unpleasantly transformed, and i would be really genuinely upset if this one went the same way. tbh you will never find me buying tumblr merch or badges or whatever but i'm not gonna think that people who do are traitorous shills. at the end of the day i need to pay rent, and so does every tumblr employee, from the people who maintain the backend to the people who mop the floors. this sucks and i hope it's different one day but rn it's not.

idk tldr i think we should be getting more mad about transmisogyny and accessibility etc than selling optional badges or the dumb one piece ad. like. who cares.

✌️✌️guess who just finished reading thru the alex in wonderland event haha. am insatiable. I did my daily missions and all while going through it so! hey hey hey not bad at all...

I actually liked this event a surprising amount! it’s definitely an event story, so they have to work with a much shorter timeline haha, so like it makes sense that citrons whole thing with monarchy got dropped, but ah... hope to see more of wherever that leads! (honestly, I had always had it in my head that citron was a runaway prince...? but okay) anyways as I’ve mentioned before I’m not masumi’s biggest fan (I don’t rly relate too hard with him and his focus on the director can get a tad annoying lol) but I really liked this event!! like, itaru especially was great. I warmed up to him most during his autumn event interactions with banri, and just in general, seeing itaru post crying scene is a delight. he’s rly funny I liked that he was basically trying to piss off masumi and beat him up through fighting games like... it felt nice. also the “there are many people who pay money for things they cannot see. like in-app purchases” made me laugh lolll. also I liked the song!! it felt a little mellower than the other ones somehow and that vibed well with how I see masumi and itaru, I think

as a side not I think it’s absolutely hilarious that tenma gets almost cut out of frame here like. here r all the central duos of the act 1 plays but u can barely see tenma... very representative of tenma and yuki’s dynamic lmaooo. speaking of yuki i am Begging u a3.... let me pull even just an R card of him..... please......

Yeah the event stories are definitly shorter with the issues dealt in it done in a short time. the first few events are also a little lighter (probably also bc they didn’t expect everyone to be done with the main plot when they were released) and some events tend to be a little more deep in general, but yeah they keep their big punch for the main story. 

There is a lot of build up in the events in general for bigger plots. For Citron for exemple this whole thing about monarchy ends up brought up later, it’s just that Alex wasn’t the moment for that or for him, but it’s a seed that gets used later when the whole Citron deals do come up. tbh i really like this because a lot of the events just seeded things for later so you keep waiting for the payoff and man the payoffs were worth it and made the build up more fascinating even!

dKLDFJD Citron really oozes “His Highness” aura huh, Azuma is right. Hope you’ll like where it leads!

But yeah that too... Not a big Masumi fan either but getting through his stories can be interesting, though it is frustrating his parts are always the first ones everyone has to go through with the stories... I often worry it makes people want to not look deeper in the other storylines aha

ITARU.... i care about Itaru a  n- yeah you know the drill. I really like his development post-crying too, he’s definitly opening up to the troupe and everyone here (a FAR CRY from “I can’t stay here nothing i can’t be as serious as the others” and the person he was to say “maybe now i can afford to trust again”). He’s geuinely trying too and involving himself into acting and, he’s having fun! i’m so happy for him!!

And i do love his dynamic with Masumi because god, Masumi isn’t trying at all in comparaison and Itaru is just. talking to a wall. And eventually Itaru just goes on “okay yknow what. I’ll beat your ass. in a video game. punk.” and i really love that about him, king knows to recognize a lost cause and know how to work around it

and yeah Itaru is so goddamn funny dKFJDLKFJFD 

The song is pretty nice yeah! it really fits the play and i do like how it fits them both in general. god if ever you’d be interested there’s a live concert the seiyuu made all together (well, Azuma’s seiyuu and Guy’s seiyuu are missing), and they do it all in full cosplay for the duet. Watching two grown men dressed in Alice in Wonderland get up dancing with rabbits and doing the teapot on stage was GLORIOUS)

I like this new picture (Tasuku and Tsumu in the back... guys... soft....) but Tenma is so weirdly placed on it DLKJFDLFJDF on mine he looks like he got beheaded, but on yours it looks like he’s sneaking on the screen. What are you DOING Tenma DLKFJDLKFJFD probably you’re right and it’s bc of Yuki, keeping him down the screen like the hack he is *nods*

And omg good luck with getting a Yuki R!!! One day... one day!!! When originally i was pulling to at least get one copy of each of the main cast (to do the Flair missions) Yuki was the LAST ONE i pulled. I kept wanting him to come and he didn’t... you break my heart Yuki. You do.

(oh i should just mention, Alex and Sardine are the only two events that are voiced for now, the rest are muted like the Flair or the backstage.. don’t know how much that’d break the immersion for you DLKFJDF. The events get progressively voiced on the app, though normally on the JPN server it comes with a gacha revival, but as far as i know Alex and Sardine were voiced without us being alerted about it at all.... If The Stranger gets voiced i’ll remplace the videos with them ;O)

i definitely prefer it on PC! controls aside i just like the bigger screen tbh (my laptop is 15″). mostly the differences are the controls/buttons! since you can’t hold down multiple buttons at once on mobile, they’ve got more to cover all the functions (pc doesn’t have an extra dash button, we just right click or press shift; if we’re in the air i think one of the buttons turns into the drop down/plunge, rather than showing like 3 on mobile? i can’t remember precisely but yeahhh; there’s also the joystick on the left side of the screen on mobile that obviously isn’t there on pc bc we have the keyboard. it’s also harder to move the camera around whilst doing things on mobile i feel?) 

and nah i don’t think i’ll make another acc, esp since i’ve gotten so far into game already but i did definitely think about it as a possibility ahahah (bc of my bad luck... i was wondering if i did a reroll (second) acc i might be able to get diluc FJKHSKDFS)
