I'm pretty sure Baron Alberto was originally planned to be the main villain of the movie. There's a scene in one of the early trailers of the movie with him laughing evilly and saying, "They're mine!". I think he was originally going to be somewhat like Lawrence III from the 2nd movie, wanting to catch Dialga and Palkia for himself.

There's also the scene that did make it into the movie that seems like a leftover of that original storyline, with him standing all ominous in the moonlight.

Which makes it so funny that he was reduced to a comic relief character. Like what a downgrade.

I've been thinking a bit about some of the old pokemon movies I like

To be fair, the Dusknoir from the “Ghoul Daze” anime episode nabbed pieces of the Alamos Darkrai’s score and I don’t see either of them complaining.

Pmd2 remake devs, if you really do exist like the legends say, pls hire me I have so many funny ideas.

Also Marcus and his fucking massive forehead and no eyebrows. They did him a favor hiding it underneath that crown in the finalized movie design.

I headcannon that eteled never paid so little attention to Pokemon while working at Nintendo that he had no idea what was going on in Gen 4, but would still love Rise of Darkrai. A lot.

Besties having them movie nights

Something I figured out a while ago but don't think I've seen anyone mention: Darkrai and Shayman's rivals in Ingo's Path of Solitude.

In the Path of Solitude trials in the post game of Legends Arceus, EVERY Pokémon will have a rival they face, usually something that counters their type. Darkrai's rival is lickilicky and Shayman's is Magnezone.

That's because in their respective movies they both get hunted by trainers that use these two particular pokemon. Deep cut.
