Hard Core Logo on the Big Screen
Tumblr media
The Due South/c6d hive mind convinced me to go see Hard Core Logo at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver this week.
After the movie they screened the rare and hilarious "making of" documentary. The theatre had to write to the director to get a VHS copy, which they digitized.
It was a rocking good time. The hometown crowd loved to see Vancouver play itself (and every other major city in Western Canada). HCL fans, newbies (like me) and even a few of the original crew showed up. One fan travelled from Seattle.
Cinematographer Danny Novak did a Q&A after the show. Alas, none of the actors made it, although Novak tried to call Hugh Dillon from the stage. The call went to voicemail.
Novak and the theatre dropped a few tidbits in the Q&A, including:
Novak has been lobbying Criterion Collection to add Hard Core Logo. He thinks, if they did, that they should include the documentary - as well as the acid trip scene outtakes he has on film rolls in his basement.
The Rio Theatre plans to screen the movie for the 30th anniversary in 2026. Dates TBD. So plan your trip to Vancouver, Hard Core Logo fans. Can you be more intense than the Swifties who will invade the city next week?

The whole truth is, I'm in love with him still" monologue?

I made the mistake of reading @cassiebones fic “Behind the curtain” even tho I knew my musical theater ass would get hyper fixated on it and it would take over my life, welp I caved and read all 6 chapters in like an hour and that was on the 18th and now I’m hyperfixated on it so bad I literally can only think about it and the only thing that makes it slightly better is just listening to wicked on loop 😭
STOP DOING THIS TO ME CASSIE DONT THINK IVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT SUBURBAN MAGIC EOTHER UR LITERALLY TAKING OVER MY LIFE STOP I DONT HAVE SELF CONTROL MAN
I also saw ur update schedule on that fic YOU TOOK 7 DAYS TO UPDATE THAT FIC AT ONE POINT I dont think I can take that dude.
Please don’t do that to me 😁
Sincerely,
A hyperfixated musical theater kid only hanging on by a thread rn (while also being in a musical and senior year of high school)

Sometimes I just go back to the conversation I had with my male gay friend
Me: I want to watch Agatha all along because it has milfs, queer evil witches and apparently it is much darker than other things from MCU... but at first I just wanted to watch it because of Aubrey Plaza
Him: I just needed Patti Lupone to be persuaded
Him after a second: we really are gay and it's showing

Book reviewe
| If We Were Villains ▪︎
| M. L. Rio ▪︎
| 10/10 ▪︎
The review may contain slight spoilers (almost none at all)
Tumblr media
"If we were villains" by M.L. Rio is a book that may evoke a lot of extreme emotions, but that's what good literature is all about - They don't have to be just subjectively perfect. I must admit that at the very beginning the book did not captivate me. I read it with some reluctance, even though its concept itself seemed extremely interesting to me. The number of characters seemed burdensome at first, but over time you get used to it. The inserts from Shakespeare's works may be just a headache for some, but I was absolutely charmed by them, and without them the composition seems soullessly empty.
Intrigue, beautiful surroundings and stage drama. The author introduces the reader to the world of actors whose roles on stage are reflected in reality in which art intertwines with brutal truth. The whole action is narrated by Oliver as a memory from the old days, he is a character you can simply like. The text, which is divided into acts, only adds a mood that perfectly complements the story about the tragedy that took place among acting students. Someone dies, someone is guilty. Can you guess who the murderer is? You can, but it's not obvious at all. The plot twist that appears at the end is breathtaking, regardless of the reader's suspicions. Dear people who have read this book, I hope you know which line in the final act tore my heart to shreds. The feelings that the characters have for each other are so incredibly vivid and true - Full of drama and suffering and many unspoken words.
Many people consider this work to be superior in its inspiration to Donna Tartt's "The Secret History". Well, I personally don't think so. However, this book is absolutely not bad. After getting through the arduous first few chapters, I was left in tears at the very end and with a storm of emotions in my head. I recommend reading it, it's a really great text. Initial reluctance turned into my tears at the end, and books that evoke emotions are the most beautiful.

Propaganda Under Cut:
Donna Sheridan (Mother of Sophie): Raises her daughter on her own whilst running a struggling bussiness. Wants the world for her daughter and tries to advise her daughter.
Rio Morales (Mother of Miles): Always acted as a mediator between her son and husband who bickered. Is understanding of her son's failing grades even if she does try to be a bit more strict.
