It all began when the wizards of the White League were under attack by their opponents of the Black League and one of their most powerful members cast a spell to bring forth a mighty wizard to aid their cause. What the spell delivered was master hacker Walter Wiz Zumwalt. The wizard who east the spell was dead and nobody—not the elves, not the dwarves, not even the dragons—could figure out what the shanghaied computer nerd was good for. But spells are a lot like computer programs, and, in spite of the Wiz's unprepossessing appearance, he was going to defeat the all-powerful Black League, win the love of a beautiful red-haired witch, and prove that when it comes to spells and sorcery, nobody but nobody can beat a Silicon Valley computer geek!
At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management).
((Yes there is problematic shot in this summary and forgive me for not remembering how egregiouslyit translates in the longtext, but I read it new in 1997 and a lot haz gone on in my head meat since then))
Consider: A fantasy series where the court wizard is treated and portrayed just like an IT guy. Court Wizard, fixing the Queen’s magic mirror: has’t thee attempted cleansing and reapplying the runes anew?

📽 Classic TobiView 📽 *OVER THE TOP* Kinostart 30.04.1987 Warner Bros. In weiteren Rollen sieht man u. a. ▪️ Fazit: Gut Wertung: 7 ▪️ #TobisFilmwelt | #TobiView | #OvertheTop | #SylvesterStallone | #WarnerBros | #WarnerBrosPictures | #CannonFilms | #MetroGoldwynMeyer | #MGM | #ArmWrestling | #Armdruecken | #Filmstagram | #Filme | #Kino | #News | #NurmeineMeinung | #Movie | #Cinema | #Moviegram | #Filmblog | #Movieblog | #Germanblogger | #Filmblogger https://www.instagram.com/p/CAKg40pntzX/?igshid=1nbbwuiya24cy

Helloooooooooooo Supercult Weeeeeeeest! Welcome to the world championship arm-wrestling debate!
The Topic Tonight: Is the 1987 Sylvester Stallone sports drama Over the Top a heartwarming cult classic or an laughable dumpster fire of a film!
Tumblr media
youtube
In the red corner, representing Supercult South Bad Movie Professor Cameron Coker’s heart (BS in Manahem Golan and a minor in Bald Bad Guys) is yours truly! Heart!
And in the blue corner, representing Supercult South Bad Movie Professor Cameron Coker’s brain (BS in Rocky Remakes and a minor in David Mendenhall, youngest recipient of the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor) is none other than moi, Brains.
Alright people let’s get this show on the roooooad! Opening argument, nerd! GO!
Numbers don’t lie heart, Over the Top holds a 27% on Rotten tomatoes and barely earned back half of its $25 million budget at the box office. It’s actors even earned two wins at the Raspberry Awards with Sylvester Stallone nominated for Worst Actor. Accept it, the movie is objectively crap.
He’s fighting for love? Are we sure this isn’t a romance?
Rick Zumwalt, who played the arm wrestling rival and villain ‘Bull’, was paid $10,000 to shave his head for the film. He liked it so much he never let his hair grow back.
Son, one day you will be a man
One day Michael, you will inherit my truck. Then Mike Hawk will be hauling ass all across America.
Dad! My love for you is based on your performance during grueling, high-stakes sporting events! No pressure!
Starring manly embraces, biceps, and perspiration.
You know Supercult don’t care about budgets and percentiles! Your lame-ass argument can’t hold a candle to the fact that this is top shelf Stallone! He’s young! He’s fresh! He’s made 4 Rocky films and is about to finish Rambo 3! THIS is the hero of 1980s Americaaaa!
Oh please, Stallone was washed up the minute he stepped foot on set! Directed and Produced by the master of schlock Menahem Golan of Cannon Films fame, Over the Top is a Rocky remake about arm wrestling of all things with 25 times the budget, a 15th of the return on investment, and not even one iota of the creativity and soul that made the original Rocky enjoyable. It even weirds the whole formula up by replacing the female love interest with an estranged 10-year old son. It’s a petty cash grab that banks on Stallone’s name whose script would never have been bank-rolled in this day and age!
youtube
youtube
Brainy, my misguided muchacho, you’re missing the point! Just think of the red-blooded American moxie it must’ve taken to convince a room full of studio execs that Sylvester Stallone’s sweaty biceps could make a movie about arm wrestling into the next big Hollywood blockbuster! Even Stallone wasn’t convinced at first! Golan had to keep offering him more and more money before he finally threw up his hands and said, “What the hell – no one will see it!” That’s some classic Supercult hubris right there!
youtube
Exactly my point! Not even the people who worked on the film liked it! David Engelbach, one of the writers was appalled at the idiotic changes made to his script and wept tears of righteous rage when he saw the film in theatres. Stallone later said that he would’ve made it less glossy, more urban, give it an original musical score instead of using a never-ending stream of rock songs, and made the final showdown in Las Vegas more ominous, not a flipping carnival. It’s the boss battle for Nic Cage’s sake, not a state fair!
youtube
youtube
Don’t you dare insult Rock and Roll, brother! Sammy Hagar singing Winner Takes It All is worth the price of admission all on its own! Besides, this film is more than the script and the lighting! It spawned a real-live “Over the Top” Arm wrestling tournament that was co-hosted by Cannon films with an actual finale in Las Vegas! The movie features many of the real-life arm-wrestling competitors and footage from the Vegas finals and the crowd in the background of the finale of the film is the same crowd that was in those same seats the night before at the real tournament finals! This isn’t a film, it’s a phenomenon! A Stallone fueled miracle of nature! CLOSING ARGUMENTS, NOW!
Good lord… Well get a load of this idiocy: as an inside joke the writers named Stallone’s son, David Mendenhall’s character, Michael. Stallone’s character’s name is Lincoln Hawke. So, the son’s full name is Mike Hawk.
THE SON’S NAME IS MIKE HAWK! CASE CLOSED! THIS MOVIE IS A MASTERPIECE!
Be true to your hearts Supercultists!
Supercult West is proud to present, Over the Top!

Biking to Kings Canyon: America's Steepest
Tumblr media
We had quite recently beaten out at the 6800-foot rise and started our long drop into the most profound ravine in North America We realized our bumpy tires would moan down some precarious stretches of black-top Bounce needed to go slowly heading down so he sat up to get the most wind opposition Rick then again went into a declining skiers fold
At first despite the fact that it was steep the street tenderly bended through moving slopes of obscure coniferous backwoods At that point we hit a ridgeline and dropped to one side rising out of the woods and onto open semi-dry territory A mass of shake to the other side and simply the highest points of trees and bushes to the next alluded to the dropoff past the streets shoulder The street steepened and fixed its bends
Bumpy tires were murmuring Hold the brakes hard and lean right Expectation no autos were coming A fast look behind Hold them again and lean left Many curves Our legs werent siphoning yet our adrenaline beyond any doubt was
We started this screamer at the Grant Grove territory of Kings Canyon National Park Forty miles of testing Highway 180 lay in front of us Wed go through Sierra National Forest land reemerging Kings Canyon National Park at Cedar Grove and consummation at the relevantly named Roads End On sort of a songbird we had explored the majority of this street previously It was amid the winter months when the street is shut down to traffic due not to snow however to rockslides Rocks crash down on the roadway from the push of solidifying water This time be that as it may wed vie for space with car beasts
In the wake of exploring and crosscountry skiing for around two decades we (Robert an independent author/picture taker from Sacramento and Richard an educator and essayist from Fresno) needed to fan out in our open air adventuring and incorporate bicycle pressing It happened that we had quite recently come back to Richards homestead Fresno from a fizzled endeavor at crosscountry skiing the Sierra High Route crosswise over Sequoia National Park We were sore and a smidgen rankled so normally for us feeling free to bicycle the most profound ravine in North America flew into our heads We had needed to bicycle Kings Canyon for a considerable length of time for its physical test and since Robert was at that point in Fresno with Rick we took the hours drive to our beginning stage at Grant Grove
In the wake of telling the officers that our vehicle would be there medium-term we began from the Grant Grove guest focus After an enduring 300-foot climb we achieved the most astounding point at Cherry Gap at 6800 rise Soon after beginning downhill from Cherry Gap we saw an extremely stacked biker taking off He hollered at us over the commotion of approaching vehicles I made it!
The majority of the adventure would be outside the National Park in the Sierra National Forest The pieces of Kings Canyon National Park were assembled at various occasions The Grant Grove zone with its transcending Sequoia trees emerges like a sore thumb on the guide from the remainder of the recreation center Which makes the ride from the thumb to the body of the National Park outside the recreation center limits
From Cherry Gap toward the South Fork of the Kings River the expressway drops a lofty 4000 feet with just incidental upslopes to give our brakes a chance to cool Almost the entire way has practically no shoulder so we must be mindful Our first stop was the Junction Viewpoint where we looked at the intersection of the south fork and center fork of the Kings River From the highest point of Spanish Mountain to the bed of the Kings River is the best vertical alleviation in the United States-around 8200 feet
You can likewise look down on the main accessible hotel along the course that is not inside the recreation center Kings Canyon Lodge Its alongside Ten Mile Creek on Barton Flat the main enormous bit of level land to be found on this precarious stretch
From the Junction Viewpoint we rode down more bends including a few clips before intersection Ten Mile Creek and achieving the Kings Canyon Lodge We rested quickly before we saddled up again and paralleled the brook for some time Past the Yucca Point Trailhead we got some distance from the brook and started a stretch with somewhat more ready yet generally down At last we adjusted a wide left bend and entered a restricted V-formed chasm cut by the South Fork of the Kings River
At the absolute bottom of the street Highway 180 crosses this waterway Our trek came after the 1994-1995 stormy season the wettest in over 10 years The Kings River and different streams were beating endlessly with a bizarre fierceness for June Forecasters were foreseeing that the pinnacle spillover would really come later maybe in July This is strange for California yet made for energizing perspectives on the cascades including cascades that presumably dont for the most part exist this late in a commonplace summer
Just before the scaffold over the Kings River is a stopping zone for a secretly worked fascination Boyden Cavern Boyden is one of the greater collapses California Guests need to climb up a precarious switchbacky way to achieve the mouth of the natural hollow
Starting here to Kings Canyon we climbed relentlessly tough for six miles nearby the Kings River A few turnouts along the waterway merited halting for particularly the Grizzly Creek Falls excursion territory The falls were so swollen for the current year that we could feel the fog when we left the stopping zone We wouldve been completely fog doused in the event that we had waited long
When we passed the Kings Canyon National Park limit sign the street leveled off a bit and rectified When we crossed the South Fork Kings River once more we could begin considering where to camp The first of the Cedar Grove zones campground Sheep Creek is simply past the intersection We were pretty burdened after such tough so we were wanting to discover a site immediately Shockingly the principal couple of campgrounds were full so we wound up at the Moraine Campground for the evening
The Cedar Grove region has many incense cedars (consequently its name) pines firs and manzanita shrubs however the goliath Sequoia is missing The Grant Grove zone where our excursion began is the main spot inside Kings Canyon National Park that has natures most excessively measured tree
Following a night tucked among Cedar Groves conifers we woke up prepared to see the sights of the Kings Canyon The trees in Kings Canyon develop thick along the Kings River so we frequently experienced difficulty seeing the water Luckily the street ascends sufficiently high along the south side that we can get a general perspective on the gorge Seeing the sights that the gully brings to the table constantly included getting directly over them before we could see them
Our first stop of the morning was the Roaring River Falls which we couldnt see from the street by any stretch of the imagination We strolled our bicycles along a cleared way out to see the falls Due to the high water this year the falls drenched anyone who drew close Thundering River Falls is encompassed by shake dividers which enhance the sound of its roaring waters Furthermore the stream cuts its way through a little granitic canyon and dives in one stocky incredible fill an easily adjusted stone bowl related article
The other primary element inside the ravine is Zumwalt Meadow which we could see from the street From the stopping territory a nature trail traverses the Kings River and totally circles the glade Blossoms fill the glade right off the bat in the season and deer regularly meander crosswise over it Zumwalt is the greatest glade in the gorge a reality which is significant principally in light of the fact that the ravine has couple of knolls because of its slenderness
Somewhat more remote along the street is truly the stopping point at Roads End The officer station here is the take-off point for the immense backwoods that makes up the greater part of Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks On an earlier visit Bob had climbed the short separation from the stopping zone out to Muir Rock This rock stone around which the Kings River wanders is said to be the place John Muir himself talked He informed early Sierra Club individuals concerning these mountains that he adored to such an extent
Like the roadways number we completed a 180 and took back off In transit we took the engine nature trail for three miles along the north side of the Kings River This trail is really an unpleasant earth street that makes for a mountain bikers solitary opportunity to play in the soil The various trails in the recreation center are shut to bikers Back on asphalt we remained on the north side of the gorge taking back off to Grant Grove
We ceased again at Grizzly Creek Falls at that point drifted along what had been our long tough granulate the day preceding and halted at Boyden Cavern While we were sitting at a park table having a tidbit we watched guests collect for their visits We discovered that temperatures in the cavern drift around 49°F all year
We started what a cavern visit control had educated us was an about 4000-foot crush moving higher over the Kings River canyon to achieve Cherry Gap We finished our outing pounding without end at the mountain one pedal at any given moment in first rigging In the warm air we could smell our perspiration and the smoking brakes of passing autos Previous Article
