Dark writing prompts
Some dark writing prompts for the cold winter days :) Number five is my favorite. I wrote a short story about it once. Which one is your favorite?
In a world where emotions are harvested as a powerful energy source, a secret society emerges, exploiting the pain and suffering of individuals to fuel their dark ambitions.
A mysterious antique mirror appears in an old, abandoned house. Anyone who gazes into it experiences glimpses of their worst fears coming to life. What happens when the mirror falls into the wrong hands?
In a dystopian future, a government experiment to control crime goes horribly wrong. Citizens start experiencing their darkest impulses as physical manifestations, leading to chaos and destruction.
A cursed town is shrouded in perpetual darkness, and every year, a single resident must willingly sacrifice themselves to lift the curse for a brief moment. This year, the chosen one has a secret that could change everything.
A talented artist discovers that their paintings have the power to alter reality. However, with each stroke of the brush, a piece of their soul is consumed, leaving them on the brink of madness.
A small community is plagued by a series of unexplainable events, each linked to a children's nursery rhyme. As the rhyme predicts the next tragedy, the townsfolk desperately try to break the curse before it claims them all.
A scientist creates a device that allows people to relive their happiest memories. However, as they delve deeper into the technology, they uncover a hidden layer of forgotten, traumatic experiences that could shatter lives.
In a post-apocalyptic world, survivors discover an underground bunker containing a mysterious machine that claims to offer a chance at resurrection. However, the price to bring someone back is the sacrifice of another life.
A cursed book is said to grant its reader unimaginable knowledge, but at the cost of their sanity. As a desperate scholar seeks its pages, they must confront the malevolent entity within that hungers for their mind.
A detective investigates a series of gruesome murders that seem to be connected by a chilling pattern. As they get closer to the truth, they realize the killer might be something otherworldly, feeding on the fear they instill in their victims.

Just some random, stupid idea I had during the middle of the night... so I started scribbling around...
Tumblr media
Oh, dear Rey...
Tumblr media
"Webtoon" format after the page break (I guess). You choose your fav.
(if the quality feels bad, it's because I started drawing this with a height of 1080 pixels in landscape format *cries*)
Tumblr media
I am still debating whether or not to include this in my fanfiction. There are some shots missing, just to illustrate how anxious and hopelessly in love he is. Well, we'll see. I may or may not continue this.
The context? Do you even need it? Spoilers in the hashtags.

Why shipping is so intensely hated in older fandoms?
Tumblr media
Because of my person being entrenched in both the Rings of Power and Star Wars (sequel trilogy and the Acolyte specifically) fandoms and conversations online, I have noticed a curious thing happening. Now of course, I am aware all of it has been taking place for a long time before that, but recently a pattern has been developing.
Notably, the hate “shipping” or “shippers” had been receiving in online spaces.
Using both fandoms I already mentioned as a sort of trial group, let me illustrate what I mean by a “pattern” - but first, let’s try to define the whole shipping thing.
The basic thing to understand about it is that not everyone would explain it the same way. I would assume the most universal understanding of it would mean “shipping” to be simply wishing for two characters to become a couple at one point or another in the story. In that understanding, this might also manifest in some people’s minds as “I want these two to kiss” as well as “I want these two to have sex.” Which is true.
Which is also a very flattening description of the phenomena.
People are shipping characters that canonically hate each other, that don’t know each other, that come from two different media altogether. People are shipping characters that have minimal interactions, but these in themselves have that specific element about them, that little umph that normal people would call “chemistry”, so they want to see more from them. Most of the time, and I do mean most of them, not all, these opinions and jokes on the internet are just that.
There was a post about it, one which I cannot find anywhere but in the recesses of my mind, but it made a point to say shipping wasn’t this overly sexual thing where the fans partook in the practice simply to see their favourite characters engage physically before their eyes, but because there was something about the both of them, some strange, mirroring quality that made their interactions simply irresistible to witness, be them anything. A fight scene, a conversation, a mention.
Ones that come to mind are, more recently, Haladriel, *Rings of Power’*s Galadriel and Halbrand-version-of-Sauron, Oshamir, The Acolyte’s main characters, and Reylo.
Of course, Reylo.
We have noticed this, yes? How, most of the time, people that enjoy dynamics between various characters are called “insane”, “stupid”, “child-like”, and how they are blamed for writers partaking in generally controversial choices because “they are just caving-in” and “pandering to shippers”?
This is a feminism - adjacent piece, and quite a short read actually!

The idea that Star Wars has become shit since Disney bought it makes me laugh.
As a reminder, Lucas made shitty changes to the original trilogy and basically got rid of the original versions so we would never have access to them again and it's disgusting.
The prelogy is far from being a masterpiece. Star Wars 7 and 8 are, sorry, generally better than the entire trilogy and even if Revenge of the Sith is very good, it doesn't make up for the overall catastrophe or the acting of the actors, which is frankly not crazy... Without forgetting the shit writing of some dialogue...
In the extended universe already there are excellent stories as well as bad ones, that doesn't change what the extended universe has already served us, Disney involved or not.
But in cinema and television, sorry, but we had excellent things.
In movies we have Rogue One, Star Wars 7, Star Wars 8. And the Solo movie was far from bad, however, I blame it for its ending with Dark Mole because if you don't know the extended universe, seriously wtf ? And since we only know what happens to Q'ira in the extended universe, I consider the Solo film to be part of the extended universe rather than the main story told in the cinema (which makes sense when you think about it because the film is called in addition to solo, a star wars story).
In terms of shows made under Disney we have Obi Wan Kenobi which is excellent.
The Acolyte which, contrary to what the haters say, is very good and is far from ruining Star Wars, on the contrary, it applies its biggest theme very well !
Ashoka is not bad too, seeing how it develops and the ending it will have especially.
The Mandalorian was very good in its beginnings even if... let's be honest, it's a bit of a failure since they said to themselves that mixing this story with the Book of Boba Fett was a good idea... Clearly the worst show star wars live action under disney in my opinion and or precisely it is the episodes dedicated to the Mandalorian which saves it, but normally, a priori it has nothing to do there! Without forgetting the fact of absolutely having wanted to involve Luc in this independent story in the Star Wars universe ?! Holy shit...
Anyway, saying that Star Wars is ruined right now needs to stop kidding.
Have people forgotten all the stupid things that happened with the Star Wars universe before it was under Disney ?

When Your Character Finds Ways To Show Affection- Romance Prompts
When the character goes on a walk he brings back flowers from roadside trees and gardens because it reminds him of her.
Character A knows about all the allergies of Character B and decides to cook their favourite meal.
Every time the Characters are getting dressed, one of them is always mesmerised by the other and stares at the mirror, frozen. Making the other characters blush and hide their face.
Character A knows his partner is a bookworm, so he gifts his partner autographed books.
Calling them before every meeting just to hear their voice because it calms them down.

Isn’t it crazy how aggressive people get over ships?
Someone today told me that “people like you shouldn’t exist” and then proceeded to throw a massive tantrum over a fictional story.
Tumblr media
They were on a fanfiction site and got mad over reading stuff about ships they supposedly hate, but somehow WE are the problem?? The pretzel logic of these psychopaths is truly something to behold.
I can’t believe it needs to be said, but no matter what you ship, YOU DESERVE TO EXIST. My god.

I wonder if Leslye Headland watched TLJ and asked herself “what would I do if I wrote the Rey/Kylo relationship” and that’s what inspired The Acolyte

Lynchworthy Star Wars take no 2 of the day:
I don’t like the sequel trilogy personally but you know what? Kylo Ren’s storyline in tlj was good actually. Trying to use it to build a redemption arc cheapened both it and the characters involved
Like this guy is trying to be a bad guy right? He’s actively making all the wrong choices and deliberately plummeting down to make it worse for himself. And along comes this person who hates doesn’t like him. And they’re psychically connected by the make up of the universe
And at the start it’s really annoying that she’s connected to him. but then she tries to reach out a hand to him. She tries to help him climb up. And while she’s reaching down to pull him out he’s reaching up to try and pull her down. She’s trying so hard to help him get better and he decides that he wants power over love, greed over compassion.
He, like his grandfather before him, wants to try to have everything. And well that never works out, this is Star Wars. but he’s in the story so he doesn’t know that.
And the thing is this girl thinks it’s working, and like her teacher before her she ignores the advice of her mentor bc she thinks she knows better. And she’s wrong.
She gets there and he kills his master for power and asks her to join him. And she can’t. This isn’t what she wanted, she wanted to help him.
Where his grandfather chose power for love and let it corrupt him beyond recognition bc he wanted to have it all and then turned on his wife when she tried to stop him, Kylo Ren chooses power over love over and over and over again. He gets chance after chance and he always, deliberately, willingly chooses wrong.
And this makes Rey as a character stronger in turn. This teaches her that everyone makes a choice whether for good or for ill and that you cannot save someone who doesn’t want to be saved and wants to bring you down to them instead. but you might still die trying. Kylo Ren isn’t like Finn, he isn’t someone stuck in a bad situation with no choices that wants to do good. He wants power and he’ll do whatever he thinks he has to to get it. And now he wants her to be a part of that too.
And he fails at it. The more power he grabs for the more darkness he grasps, the more things slip through his fingers and leave him trembling in the dust of all that he’s wrought. He’s not sympathetic, he’s greedy and he’s trying to trick Rey into thinking his story is a tragedy of misunderstandings when it’s actually a wilful tragedy of choice. And that makes him a good character. Not a moral one. Not even necessarily a likeable one (ymmv). But an interesting one that has a lot to contribute to the story and the themes within.
Star Wars is about choices. Bad choices are choices too.

PUUUHHHH ok I neeeeed to rant about this cause I am watching the Acolyte as I am writing this down and I am RAGING rn. (take this with humour, pls, it's nothing bad, I promise you, lol)
requested page cut for spoilers:
So, 4 min into Episode 6 and I am wondering, that's totally Ahch-To, right? Like, that's, that's so obvious. At that point I was just waiting for the Porgs to appear (tho, did they exist 1000 or what not years ago? idk) LOL. WDYM "Unknown Planet"?
But let's put that aside.
Then the scene continues, I will not comment on it too much, HOWEVER I totally see why people say it's reylo coded. And the more I watch the more I go like NO, NO, NO plllllsssssssss don't--
THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT I AM PLANNING FOR MY FANFICTION, GUYS YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO ME, DO I NOW HAVE TO WRITE "I HAD THIS IDEA BEFORE THE ACOLYTE CAME OUT" AFTER EVERYTHING I POST OR WHAT? I cry.
No but really, I have proof:
This was not supposed to see the light of day before I would actually get to the point of illustrating the fanfic, but I guess now I gotta put it out there + plus this is the part of the story that I still have soooooo many other scenes to write for to connect and actually get there, hence why it freaking takes so long to work on it with uni and life happening, but--
Tumblr media
*sighs* I mean I guess it's your average day to day trope but I am still- I... *another sigh*
I don't even read fanfiction on a daily basis. It's a wonder if I do it once every 6 months LOL. I don't even know if it is in fact a trope or not.
here, have an even rougher version from literally almost one year ago when I put together a pdf for a friend to give me feedback on in which I added some story beats that I drew around the "am I your prisoner?" scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know what? It's fine. This is fine. Totally fine. It happens. I'll go on and continue watching the Acolyte ep 6 now. I stopped at min 10:50 to write this post. Let's see how much more reylo coded this actually gets. (I have seen a spoiler on Tumblr with (I believe it's) Osha holding the red blade against guy's neck.)
(I don't even know their names lol. That's how invested I am in this show. Not at all, really. But I thought, ok, let's stay up to date with the star wars fandom. I regret that now, ngl XD)
(It's not even the first time this happens to me. Remember the scene from Ahsoka when someone cuts Ezra's hair with the lightsaber? Yeah, I had that planned for a later interaction between Rey and Kylo. Welp. I refuse to post proof for that rn. It would spoil the story.)
This is so surreal and funny to me, I cannot.

BEN SOLO RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!!! And if Disney won't do it, we will! Here comes Episodes 10, 11, and 12 as full featured FAN-CREATED films, with a TV series to cover the space in between! This is an 8-YEAR PLAN! So, come along with us! #FansWillSaveStarWars We thought it was time to put our money where our mouths are and do JUST THAT. Here we have a team of nearly 50 amazing fans of Star Wars fans from all walks of the spectrum of this fandom, coming together to CREATE AMAZING FAN FILM, alongside and inspired by so many of you that already create beautiful art and stories. We have all original artwork, original voices, original sounds, and original music! We decided to put it all together into an ANIMATED FILM and this is our teaser trailer, the first of 4 trailers (full trailers coming soon!). We needed "The Last Skywalker" to be resurrected and reunited with his dyad, because we believe his bloodline is very important to the continuation of the Skywalker Saga. Together, Ben and Rey will rebuild a new Jedi Order, one where attachments can be a strength not a hinderance. And they bring forth a new generation of Jedi, including their own children. We believe it was a far more interesting story to let Ben Solo atone for his sins, rather than copy-paste his grandfather's exact same fate. Redemption is cool and all, but ATONEMENT is far better! And Rey will help him do that. He will have to gain the trust of the Resistance, Rey's found family, to forge a new path for himself. Give the teaser a look, tell us what you think, and btw --- make sure to SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube Channel as there will be much much more to come. https://www.youtube.com/@AfterTheSequels Visit our website for more information or if you'd like to be part of the team and we feel you have a skill we can use, you can contact us there as well. https://afterthesequels.com/

Okay LISTEN. Kylux has such beautiful parallels and opposites in their life stories that it's almost beautiful.
The height of Ben's life was him being young. He was naturally gifted, had a great family, and a promising future. There were problems, but he had friends, and he was thriving. Then he grew up and renounced his identity as Ben and things went downhill.
Hux's childhood on the other hand was his low point. It wasn't until adulthood that he rose up and became stronger.
Kylo killed his father because he loved him. Snoke saw it as a weakness and made him do it. It tore him apart.
Hux killed his father because he hated him. He needed to thrive and that had to happen with Brendol's death.
Hux is reserved and handles his emotions accordingly, rarely ever doing more than raising his voice whenever the occasion permits it.
Kylo can't control his emotions and only acts in anger, unable to ground himself as well as Hux does.
They're opposites but also so much alike. Violent, self serving, desiring full control over the throne.
So alike yet so different. I mourn the loss of the duel of the fates script because in that they actually did come together. Rey refused Kylo's help so Kylo took Hux's hand. Let him lead, obeyed enough to shave his entire head simply because Hux found it too disorderly. Original Hux was fascinated by the force, he wished he had it. While Kylo's life is ruined by it.
Sometimes, I think that Kylo and Hux's relationship was tarnished just to make Rey and Kylo seem more probable. Those two were stronger together, and the writers tore them apart. But they're perfect together, opposite yet one in the same.

“hey, fan.”
“oh...hi!”
“mind if i sit here?”
"oh! um, no, no, of course not...please, go ahead.”
"it's...uh. hot, huh?"
"yes. much hotter than ryloth."
"...i'll miss you when you go back."
"...i'll miss you too."
"listen i'm sorry about...you know, everything..."
"yes...me too. i've been feeling rather overwhelmed. i know i haven't been very kind to you as of late, or as communicative as i ought to be, and i'm sorry. i was thinking...this whole thing must be rather difficult for you. it's all so...new for you, isn't it."
"heh. yeah. well...i could stand to not lose my temper so much. i haven't been great to you, either. which is a shame, since...you'll only be here for another month, and...i don't want us to just be fighting the whole time."
"no...i don't want that, either."
"we're still friends, right?"
"yes. of course."
"we'll always be friends?"
"i hope so."
"do you...still wanna try being something else later? or...do you still think i'm a dumbass?"
"ben.”
"hey, your words, not mine, sister.”
"...well. haha. maybe i do still think that."
"i mean. fair."
"but...maybe later this year, or next year, we could…try being something else."
"good. 'cause over the past couple weeks i've come to the unfortunate conclusion that...well…i do really like you a lot. love you, in fact, which almost physically pains me to admit out loud."
"you...do?"
"yeah. i do. i mean, c’mon, do you have any idea how cool you are? but, i gotta warn you...i'm kind of a huge mess."
"well...so am i, ben. i just hide it better than you do. and...i already know you are."
"mmkay, a little rude, but—also? fair.”
“haha.”
“so, uh...friends for the rest of the summer...and then…maybe something else later?"
"that sounds wonderful to me."
"...there's gonna be a lot to figure out, you know. like, i’m serious, fan. a lot. you…really think it’d be worth it? i mean, we don’t even know if we’d still be together, years from now.”
"ben...believe me when i say this: i love you. i have loved you. i have tried in vain not to love you. for you...i would weather any storm. it would bring a lot of new challenges, but...well...it would be much more challenging for me to try to live the rest of my life without you, i think."
“heh. i feel the same way about you, sis. s'pose that settles it, then.”
