Fairyary Day 1 🧚

This Fairyary I thought it would be fun to redraw some of the illustrations from the Rainbow Magic fairies in the style of the Return to Rainspell Island anime movie. I was fully obsessed with these books as a kid and to the chagrin of my mother, had a small collection of them 😅💖 I really love the style of the anime movie, so this'll be a fun exercise to try out!

The movie seems to be a sequel to the first set of books The Rainbow Fairies. Fairyland’s future is uncertain after Jack Frost has been released from his snow globe prison and with the help of his goblin henchmen, has created a giant army of snowmen to freeze the world. Without King Oberon or Queen Titania, only 2 human girls Rachel and Kirsty with the power of magic can stop Jack Frost’s terror and save Fairyland. However, he’s not the only thing that stands in their when back at Tippington, Rachel and Kirsty’s friendship and power of believing is put to the test, possibly even at stake.

Yes, this is surely a true statement of many viewers, no disrespect at all to the video's creator, but FULL disrespect to the algorithm for suggesting that I lack knowledge of semi-obscure Rainbow Magic trivia. Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!

Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!

What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. i randomly stumbled upon a 2010 kids movie based on a book series id never heard of called "Rainbow Magic: Return to Rainspell Island"

based solely on the art style looking nice i decided to watch it and ended up on a rainbow magic rabbit hole. The movie is standard kids stuff but i do really like the art style and its even got a bit of magical girl feel to it. the girls have to basically save their gay fairy friends from the Ice King while being bullied irl by other girls for believing in fairies. they stand up to the bullies and save the day. its a cute movie and it looks pretty nice animation wise. i find it really interesting that they had a japanese studio producing it despite being a british series? i kinda wish there was more.

im obsessed why did they do this. why does it sound like hes making it up as he goes. its so bad i kinda love it.

anyways from there i got curious and decided to go "what is rainbow magic" and spent like 30 minutes scrolling through the literally 200+ fairies in the book series. There is a goddamn fairy for everything. Rainbow fairies, music fairies, party fairies, holiday fairies, oddly specific fairies, Royal family fairies (who are class traitors)

my friends further informed me that greta thunberg is a fairy as well

last but not least i came back on here to tumblr to see if there was any fan stuff. blessedly i found some Rainbow Magic memes which is everything i could want. furthermore apparently a lot of the fandom turned out gay and autistic? stellar work, could not be more proud

i discovered this British/Japanese anime movie from 2010 called "Rainbow Magic: Return to Rainspell Island" based on a series of childrens' books.

but it might as well might just be called "babby's first shoujo ai" considering how unintentionally gay they made the main duo.
