Unveiling the Secret to Pristine Kitchens: The Importance of Restaurant Hood Cleaning
Tumblr media
Welcome to the heart of the culinary world, where the magic happens behind the scenes – the kitchen. Amidst the sizzle of pans and the aroma of spices, there's a silent hero safeguarding the sanctity of this bustling space: restaurant hood cleaning . Let's dive into the depths of this essential service and uncover why it's the cornerstone of a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen.
The Crucial Role of Restaurant Hood Cleaning
1. A Shield Against Fire Hazards
Ever wondered why kitchens are equipped with hood systems towering over the stoves? These hoods act as a first line of defense against grease buildup, which can ignite and escalate into a devastating fire.
Restaurant hood cleaning removes grease and flammable residues from the hood, ducts, and exhaust fans, reducing the risk of fire and ensuring a safe working environment for kitchen staff.
2. Maintaining Air Quality
Ever stepped into a kitchen and felt a heavy, greasy atmosphere hanging in the air? Without regular cleaning, grease and smoke particles accumulate in the hood system, contaminating the air and posing health risks to employees.
Hood cleaning services eliminate grease buildup, improving air quality and creating a healthier environment for both kitchen staff and diners.
3. Compliance with Regulations
Ever faced the wrath of health inspectors due to grease buildup in your kitchen? Neglecting restaurant hood cleaning not only jeopardizes safety but also puts your establishment at risk of fines and penalties for non-compliance with health and safety regulations.
Professional hood cleaning ensures that your kitchen meets regulatory standards, providing peace of mind and safeguarding your reputation as a responsible business owner.
Unveiling the Process: What Does Restaurant Hood Cleaning Entail?
1. Thorough Inspection
Before diving into the cleaning process, experienced technicians conduct a comprehensive inspection of the hood system to assess the level of buildup and identify any potential issues.
Inspections serve as a roadmap, guiding technicians through the cleaning process and ensuring no grease or residue is left behind.
2. Degreasing and Scrubbing
Armed with specialized degreasers and tools, technicians get down to the nitty-gritty, scrubbing away layers of grease and grime from every nook and cranny of the hood, ducts, and exhaust fans.
Through meticulous scrubbing, technicians restore the hood system to its pristine condition, leaving no grease buildup unchecked.
3. Rinsing and Drying
Once the grease is vanquished, it's time to rinse away any remaining residue and ensure a squeaky-clean finish.
Thorough rinsing and drying prevent moisture buildup, reducing the risk of mold and mildew growth in the hood system.
4. Final Inspection
Before wrapping up, technicians conduct a final inspection to ensure that every inch of the hood system meets their rigorous standards.
Final inspections guarantee that your kitchen is not just clean, but sparkling like a culinary gem ready to dazzle diners.
Choosing the Right Partner: What to Look for in a Restaurant Hood Cleaning Service
1. Experience and Expertise
When entrusting your kitchen to a cleaning service, experience matters. Look for companies with a proven track record of excellence and a team of skilled technicians who understand the intricacies of hood cleaning.
2. Certifications and Compliance
Ensure that the cleaning service holds certifications and adheres to industry standards and regulations. Compliance with regulations demonstrates a commitment to safety and professionalism.
3. Customized Solutions
Every kitchen is unique, with its own set of challenges and requirements. Choose a cleaning service that offers customized solutions tailored to the specific needs of your establishment.
4. Reliability and Reputation
Reputation speaks volumes in the world of restaurant hood cleaning. Read reviews and seek recommendations from fellow restaurant owners to ensure you're partnering with a reliable and reputable service provider.
youtube
Conclusion: Elevating Your Kitchen to New Heights Restaurant hood cleaning may operate behind the scenes, but its impact on the safety, cleanliness, and compliance of your kitchen is undeniable. By investing in professional hood cleaning services, you're not just safeguarding your establishment against fire hazards and health risks – you're setting the stage for culinary excellence. So, the next time you step into your kitchen, take a moment to appreciate the silent hero standing tall above the stove, ensuring that every dish is prepared in a safe and sanitary environment.

your toxic könig is so perfect and the more recent posts made me think about a similar kind of au but with gromsko. like god i need this man to """force""" me into being his perfect little wife i swear.
AND IM SO SORRY but being slavic also makes this even more feral for me because i imagine the second his gf shows a bit too much independence/DARES to talk over him (yeah it's an achievement to be able to talk over him, the mf is LOUD)/etc he just. goes feral like he sees it as a challenge and he needs to show her what a slavic woman is actually supposed to be like.
but slavic or not he'll keep holding the fact that he "tamed" you over your head even when he's fucking you. talks about how this is your place, this is where you belong and how he's going to make sure you remember by breeding you full.
Omg Gromsko OMG
I'm so normal about him yes yes it's just your ask that made me this way ^^ I'm blaming you my dear anon 💕
CW: Protective & possessive behavior, implied sexism
So, Gromsko. Your car broke down in the middle of the road and this absolute bear of a Pole pulls over to help you. He has a charming smile, sure, but he's also obnoxiously bold. That casual masculine bravado makes you feel weaker than it should; there's this aura of shameless pride about him, and you can't quite decide if it's annoying or sexy.
You try to tell him you can handle it, that the repair guy is already on his way. But Gromsko? Hah. He just bypasses that shit. Pops up the hood and gets to work. The car is fixed in no time, and the next thing you know is that you just said yes when "Sobieslaw Kościuszko, pleasure to meet you, miss," asked if he could take you out to dinner this evening.
And it's true that he's loud. Like, why does he have to talk by half shouting...? (Probably because he has to make it known that he's the strongest, most virile male in the area.)
Sobieslaw always sits with a wide spread, with a broad, tall chest, with a confidence that seems to come naturally to him. He never tries to make himself smaller, no matter how crammed a space is. Everyone except the elderly has to move aside when he walks because he's not going to dodge or sidestep. You're not the only one who fears he will eventually break one of those dainty little chairs in the fine dining place he brought you to; the waiter side eyes this man like he's some beast that somehow got in and should be caged, not fed.
Despite all that brass, Gromsko is a proper gentleman. Always opens the doors for you, always pays at a restaurant. And always grabs your waist and draws you closer if there are other men around. Guy looks like he's ready to get into a fist fight for you if it comes to that.
It's kind of hair-raising how he laughs at the very concept of independent woman. His woman should never have to be "independent." It would be an insult to him as a man if his wife had to go to work.
He tells you how beautiful you are with intensity and passion that seems to come from another age. That boundless adoration makes you feel drunk, and Gromsko doesn't seem to notice anyone else but you – it's like all other women have disappeared from this planet.
He lays siege to you like crusaders of old laid siege to a city. You never have to fear whether you're coming off as too interested or eager or that you'll "scare" him away: this man is always more interested and eager than you. Still, you fear that everything will come to an end once you give this man what he wants – namely, sex.
You couldn't be more wrong! He's not fucking around, and he's not dating for the sake of getting laid. He's looking for a wife and a mother for his kids.
An infuriatingly sexy, uneven smile spreads across his face everytime you meet. He's checking you out, and he's utterly shameless about it. You're being rated like cattle, and it should not send butterflies to your stomach when you notice he seems to more than just approve of your hips and breasts. Little do you know Sobieslaw Kościuszko has already decided you're to be his wife.
When you finally spread your legs for this man, you expect him to fuck you with the urgency and attentiveness of a 20-year old hockey player. But Gromsko is actually a skilled lover! You don't know why and you don't know how, but he seems to decode you and all your weaknesses in record time. Hot kisses and intense love making are his bravura. Gromsko is so attuned to you and your pussy that it should be illegal.
It's like the gods made this man to breed women and spread his seed because he has the biggest balls you've ever seen. He doesn't grow all too soft after climaxing, and continues to fuck you even after you both just came. With sloppy patience, sure, because you're practically begging for mercy under him… but the point is that he just won't stop. He continues to pump you with strong hips and infinite stamina, and groans how perfect you are as you approach your second orgasm.
He places so much trust on his cock that, perhaps surprisingly, you're the first woman he has ever put his mouth on. It's the only thing that makes that eternal shield of pride tilt aside a bit, because he hates it when he doesn't know what he's doing… but neither is he a man who backs down when faced with a challenge!
He doesn't know what he's doing, which means he takes a mental note of every single thing that makes you shiver and sigh. This Polish bear learns to please you and just you, examines how you respond to slow licks and fast laps, sucks on your nub until you cry, and when he sees how much you enjoy his treatment, this man goes crazy.
"You like that, kochanie?" He pants between your legs, drunk on your pussy, swearing in Polish and giving lewd comments about how wet you are. He only ups the pace with his tongue when you cum. You're an overstimulated mess, but he's not done. He crawls on top of you and gets down to business with his thick cock, those heavy balls start to slap against your soaked flesh until you feel like you have no brains left.
"It's easier to just stop fighting, kotku," he seems to approve of your wet, moaning state more than anything. But it's the wickedly pleased gruff of "Let's get married, Słoneczko," that sends you spiraling into another overstimulated, glorious orgasm.
You don't even know that he's already told his whole family about you. You don't yet know that his grandmother already loves you. But it starts to dawn on you that you got more than you bargained for when Gromsko informs you that he'll take you to Poland but only as his wife.
Perhaps that's where this man's charm lies! Gromsko simply knows what he wants: a good loyal wife and a nice, large family. If you can give them to him, he's not wasting any time getting you pregnant. You're knocked up before you even know it, there's a ring on your finger before you get to say Na Zdrowie. You're his little wife now, and there's nothing you can do about it ❤️

modern!billy with a farmers daughter!reader but not in the cute silly way?
Tumblr media
youve grown up on a farm, ik billy is western but im actually thinking something more midwest; iowa/missouri/kansas
for the express purpose of the vibes of a once-great steel or railroad town, now resigned to notice by road trippers and academics researching the fall of industrial america
with this you've been kind of isolated; you had friends in high school but they've all either run as far as they could from their childhoods after graduation or languished in the remorse of not being able to escape
you. you didn't really want to escape; you're happy with your quiet ghostly life of taking care of your animals and avoiding talking politics with your parents
you grew up religious in a way that taught a god who was fear, you have made peace with a god who is your friend. knelt by your bed he has heard your deepest secrets told as girlish, gossipy whispers; your most outlandish, complicated questions asked like you are up too late at a sleepover
you are quiet for the most part, happy to twist your thoughts around into your head until they either make a pretty shape or break in two, and when you're not working the farm, you're wandering aimlessly through creeks and cemeteries and abandoned buildings
billy is, like everyone not born in a place like this, just stopping through - you meet him through your wanderlust, traipsing down a dead and dying main street as he pulls his equally moribund truck up to the curb, asking you for directions to the nearest mechanic
mechanic is the only one for miles and thus extortionate, but your father is handy and ready to help a stranger, so you tell billy that if his truck can make it a few miles up the road, he'll have a fixed engine for a reasonable price
he, of course, accepts and leans over to push open the door to give you a ride. you get to talking, learn that he was born in new york and has been living in new mexico, he's just travelling for a new job atm. he learns that you have lived here your whole life and have no real desire to move, have never had a reason to have that desire, and he smiles and tells you that he respects comfort in consistency, that he wishes he had a place he felt that settled
when you get back to your house your father helps billy fix his truck and your mother has you take iced tea out to the men, which you also drink a glass of while sitting on the cluttered porch and watching billy bent over the open hood
he's pretty, sure, but you cannot decide whether he is worth loving. if he is as transient as everything else that blows through this town like tumbleweeds, if - and a big if - you fell in love, would it flit away just as quickly as businesses seem to be closing down?
you pray those questions that night, as cricket song and sticky, heavy heat presses through your open window and gets circulated by a white box fan that stays on more for the comforting noise than any kind of cooling
god doesn't respond in words, because that's not how god works, but the next morning when you're in the grocery store squeezing plums to find one that is a little bit further from overripe than the others, billy finds you and tells you that he'll be staying in the motel in town for a few weeks (you make a face, he laughs) because his job has been delayed and maybe if you'd like to go out with him sometime, you could go to the one nice chain restaurant in town and if you decide you trust him (and his truck, which is still...questionably functional, even after repairs) enough, maybe you could drive out a little ways, just towards some of the corn fields? he would show you the stars?
and oh, you realize, this is god's answer and love and guiding hand. maybe it is time to move on.

Named Businesses/Brands in the Sing Franchise: Sing 1
In a recent rewatch of the movies, I tried to find all the named businesses and brands that are in the movies for world building sake (minus bands and entertainment acts cause thats a different list). So here is, in semi chronological order, all the ones that appear in the first movie!
-------
The Moon Theatre - The primary location of the first movie and starting location of the second.
State of Calatonia Theatre School - An institute of higher education that appeared on a certificate on Buster's office wall.
State of Calatonia University - An institute of higher education that appeared on a diploma on Buster's office wall.
The Modern Drama Institute - An institute of higher education that appeared on a diploma on Buster's office wall.
Bacapti Transport - A store we see Buster bike past.
Grand Store - A store we see Buster bike past, as well as the gang drive past in the city.
Harry's Bar - Harry's restaurant where Ash and Lance performed.
Franklin School of Music - An institute of higher education that Mike claims to have previously studied at.
Les Calmars - A very formal restaurant that we see numerous times through out the first movie, supposedly French cuisine by Buster speaking French to a waiter as well as the name of the restaurant being in French.
SN Eyewear - A brand advertising on the metro line station Ash and Lance were at.
Repair Services Garage/Garage - It is not clear whether or not the garage run by Johnny's family even uses either name, however, that is the wording printed on the building were a name would be.
Gas Station - It is not clear whether or not the gas station has a different name, however, there isn't one on the building's sign so I'm running with this.
Big Kitchen - The brand name of the stove hood in Meena's kitchen.
Rumble Bag - The brand name on the speed bag we see both Marcus and Johnny using in the first movie.
Laundromat - A business to the left of Ash's first apartment, appears to only use the first floor.
Paradise Hotel - A business to the right of Ash's first apartment.
Moon Car Wash - The car wash that Buster's father owned.
Gummlies - A 24 hour store that Ash's first apartment is over. This name does not match the name on the store's shade covering but the first word of that is illegible, and only "Grocery Store" can be read.
Pop Soda - The brand of soda we see in Ash's first apartment, in the flavour orange. We also see it in the pool house in the same flavour.
SCRUN-EEZ - The type of cereal we see Rosita's kids eating and again at the store.
City Store - The store to the left of Moon Theatre. It appears to sell jewelry.
Wholesale Supply - One of the neighboring warehouses to the garage. There is another one on a different street as well as well as where the gang got arrested.
Linais & Badoil - The brand of piano that Johnny and Mrs. Crawly play in the Moon Theatre.
Dodgson - The brand of speakers in Ash's first apartment.
Roc's - The grocery store that Rosita went to during the movie.
Sliced Potatoes - A brand of chips seen in the grocery store that appears to have around six flavours.
Fruity Light - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Flaky Wheat - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Bran Cereals - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Muesli - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Colorful Crisp! - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Corn Flakes - A cereal we see at the grocery store with a fox mascot.
Choco Chuncs - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Honey Sirop - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Mixed Cereals - A cereal we see at the grocery store.
Fiber Breakfast - A cereal we see at the grocery store in Rosita's cart.
Cookies Mint - A type of a brand of cookies we see at the grocery store.
Cookies Choco - A type of a brand of cookies we see at the grocery store.
Cookies Strawberry - A type of a brand of cookies we see in Rosita's cart.
Spring Water Sourceful - A brand of spring water at the grocery store in Rosita's cart.
Animal Gazette - The newspaper we see Johnny reading.
Dusty's - An establishment across from the Moon Theatre.
SFJ Bank - The bank Judith works for and owned the theatre for awhile.
Eyewitness News - A news channel we see in both movies.
Calatonia University - An institute of higher education that appeared on the shirt of Eddie's that Buster wears in the pool house.
Parrot Herald - A news paper Buster reads in the pool house and is likely affiliated with the other news channel in the movie due to their paper being used in the ending broadcast.
Blip's Bowling Lounge and Bar - An establishment we see behind the new Moon Car Wash.
The Diga Doo - A restaurant we see behind the new Moon Car Wash.
Tabatha's Market - A market we see behind the new Moon Car Wash that advertises fresh foods.

Curtis was head-deep in a repair whistling quietly to himself as he worked when you came crashing into the garage.
“Curtis! Curtis! Curtis!” You yelled jumping over tools and wires as you made your way over to his.
Curtis jumps in surprise whacking his head on the hood of the car, cursing slightly lightly as he rubbed his head and stood up. No matter how much pain he was his concern for you won out.
“What’s wrong? What is it?” Curtis says moving to meet you, his hands grabbing your arms, eyes scanning over you to check for anything obviously wrong.
“I did it, I did it Curtis I did it” you breathed out.
“Did what? Sweetheart what happened” Curtis questions cupping your cheek.
“I told Mr Tanner to fuck off” you beamed.
“What?” Curtis stuttered in surprise, shocked at what he just heard.
“Well not in those exact words but he was being an ass again and wouldn’t let me administer his meds so I laid it out straight, used a bunch of medical bullshit and maybe over-exaggerated a couple of things but by the end he was quaking in his boots demanding his meds be administered immediately and he didn’t care by who” you smile proudly.
Curtis lets out a huff of a laugh smiling down at you “I’m so proud of you sweetie pie” wrapping his arms around you tightly, kissing the top of your head.
“And my boss even gave me a high five when they heard about it, so I’m completely in the clear” you beam.
“Fuck I wish I’d seen his face” Curtis chuckled shaking his head.
“It was gold, should have taken a photo,” you say shrugging your shoulders with a small smirk.
“Well your account is good enough, and I think we should go out to celebrate” Curtis smiles.
Your face screws up slightly “it's not really celebration-worthy is it?” You say.
“Of course it is, but if it makes you feel better we secured a big account today so we can celebrate that too” Curtis offers with a small shrug of his shoulders.
“You got the Lenkins account?!” You exclaim looking up at him with admiration “why didn’t you tell me?” You demand hitting his chest gently.
“Well, you were too busy scaring the shit out of me, running in here screaming my name” Curtis chuckles.
You roll your eyes at him “I wouldn’t call it screaming” you say.
Curtis smirks leaning down to whisper in your ear “You’re right, we both know exactly what it sounds like when you scream my name” he smirks taking pleasure in the small gasp you let out and the flustered look on his face.
“Now I’ll quickly finish getting this sorted,” Curtis says nodding down to the car “while you go book us a table at whatever restaurant you want, no matter the cost and then we can get out of here”
A wide smile grows on your face “god you’re amazing” you grin pressing a quick kiss on his cheek before running off towards the office.
Curtis chuckles smiling to himself as you went. As he turned back towards the car he was working on, catching Tanya and Edgar smirking at him.
“What?” He huffed frowning over at them.
“Nothing,” Tanya says failing to hold back her smirk.
“Yeah, ignore us,” Edgar says waving his hand dismissively “get back to work so you can get to your sweetie pie sooner”
Curtis grunts flipping the both of them off as he turned back to the car he was working on. More determined than ever to get it fixed, not only so he could get back to you, but to get away from the teasings from his friends.
Tumblr media
You had picked well, not only the restaurant but your outfit. Curtis was having a hard time keeping his hands off of you, his mouth going dry and his trousers growing tight when he saw you step out of your apartment.
“I’ve wanted to eat here for years” you explain an excited tone to your voice as you clung to his arm.
Curtis smiles down at you before looking up at the Italian restaurant you were walking towards “I’ve heard lots of great things about it” he admits.
“Wait you’ve never been here either?” You gasp in surprise stopping in your tracks to face him.
“No, never had the reason to, at least not until now” his smiles leaning down to peck your lips.
You grin up at him tucking yourself further into his side as you stepped inside the restaurant.
“Table for two under Everett,” you say to the Maître d', Curtis’ lips tugging upwards at you using his name for the reservation.
“Of course, there’s a small delay on your table but please take a seat at the bar and we’ll grab you once you're ready,”  the man said gesturing towards the bar.
“Thank you” Curtis nods before guiding you towards the bar.
You were walking past a few tables when you felt Curtis’ step falter, his arm tensing in under your hand. You look up at him to see his face as hard as stone, you were about to question it but an old male voice beat you to it.
“Curtis… long time no see old friend” an old man sat a short distance away and smiled over at the pair of you.
“Gilliam” Curtis grounded out.
You swallowed nervously glancing between Curtis and Gilliam. Curtis hadn’t told you anything other than what he’d said on your first date, but you were able to read between the lines to know there was a lot of bad blood.
“Let me introduce you to my newest apprentice, Grey” Gilliam says patting the young man next to him shoulder.
Grey nodded towards the both of you in greeting “he’s mute, but he’s good at his job… loyal” Gilliam continues, a pointed look sent Curtis’ way.
You could feel Curtis bristling beside you “I’m surprised you know the meaning of the word” Curtis bit out before taking a deep breath and looking back down at you “let's go get a drink” he said, his tone much softer.
You nodded quickly, glancing back at Gilliam and Grey “it was nice meeting you” you mutter.
Curtis could tell you were growing increasingly uncomfortable but before he got a chance you quickly performed a couple of gestures that Curtis didn’t recognise towards Grey. Curtis frowned in confusion, glancing over at Grey to see his eyes light up before glancing over at Gilliam and subtly nodding back to you.
“C’mon sweetheart” Curtis muttered in your ear before carefully guiding you away and towards the bar.
As soon as you were sat down Curtis went to question what those gestures you did were but he didn’t get the chance. You put your hand on his a worried look on your face.
“Are you okay?” You ask him, concern clear on your face.
Curtis blinked a couple of times before nodding “yeah… yeah sorry” he muttered shaking his head.
“I know you haven’t told me much about what happened… but if you do want to… you know you can right?” you tell him squeezing his hand.
A small smile pulls at Curtis’ lips “thank you sweetheart” he whispered lifting your hand to his lips and pressing a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
He takes a deep breath glancing over his shoulder to where Gilliam and Grey sat “when Gilliam first took me under his wing, there were only two garages, his and one owned by Wilford, they were bitter rivals, Gilliam tried to get me to poach clients from Wilford” Curtis starts with a sigh, his thumb running over your knuckles as he spoke “when I told Gilliam that I wanted to set up my own garage he helped me, seemed eager to help but not even a few months into opening my garage my clients were being poached by Wilford” Curtis jaw clenched in frustration as he recalled the memory “I nearly lost everything, nearly went crawling back to Gilliam, that was until I discovered that Gilliam and Wilford had been working together for years, co-owned both garages, using their rivalry to get clients, I exposed them which caused them to lose almost all their clients, guess people didn’t like being lied too and taken advantage of” he says spitting the last part in disgust.
“Oh, Curtis I’m so sorry you had to go through all that” you mutter squeezing his hand.
“It alright” Curtis sighed shaking his head “it’s just- that bullshit about loyalty when he was the one who took me in after everything only to fuck me over”
“You did the right thing though, exposing him, trying to make things better, he’s just bitter that he lost the best mechanic in the state,” you tell him with a reassuring smirk.
Curtis couldn’t help but let out a small snort of laughter, shaking his head gently as he smiles back at you “thank you, sweetheart”
Curtis then waved down the bartender, quickly ordering a drink for you and him.
“To standing up to assholes,” Curtis says holding up his drink for a toast.
“To standing up to assholes” you chuckle tapping your glass against his.
Tumblr media
The rest of the meal went perfectly, with you around there was nothing that could bring Curtis down for long, especially not Curtis.
It had been a week since the run-in with Gilliam, you had the day off but despite Curtis telling you to stay home and relax you still ended up visiting him at the garage. A box of cookies in hand which were quickly taken off your hands by Edgar.
“I might have to cut you off soon, you won’t keep that slim figure otherwise” you chuckle.
Edgar just winks “I don’t mind, there’ll just be more of me to love”
You laugh nodding your head in agreement as you walk over to Curtis who was leaning against the hood of a truck, rag in hand as he cleaned his fingers.
“I thought I told you to stay home and relax,” he says as you approach.
“I did relax,” you say shrugging your shoulders as you rest your hands on the lapels of his overalls “I made the cookies and decided you guys would probably appreciate them so here I am”  you tug at his lapels pulling his lips down to yours.
Curtis smiled into the kiss, his hands gripping your hips and tugging you closer. A hum of contentment escaped your lips.
“Don’t make me throw a bucket of cold water over you too” Tanya warned making the two of you break away from each other.
“Aren’t you the person who told me to grow a pair and ask her out?” Curtis huffs arching a brow in her direction.
“I am, but I’m also a person who doesn’t want to see you two getting it on in the middle of the garage” Tanya retorts.
“We weren’t going-“ Curtis grunts, frustration clear in his voice.
“Curtis,” you say gently, cupping his cheek “she’s just teasing”
Curtis instantly relaxed at your touch, instinctively leaning into your touch. A warm smile tugged at his lips as he looked down at you. He leaned down his nose brushing gently against yours before capturing your lips.
This time you were interrupted by the sound of someone knocking on the garage door.
Curtis let out an annoyed groan as he pulled away “come on in” he called out.
You turned in his arm to see Grey stepping inside the garage with a nervous look on his face. Curtis instantly straightened, on guard for whatever reason Grey was here for.
“Grey, did Gilliam send you,” Curtis asks a cold look on his face, Tanya and Edgar exchange a glance before looking back at Curtis.
Grey shook his head before looking over at you, a look of desperation on his face as he quickly gestured with his hands.
“Gilliam doesn’t know he’s here,” you say your eyes not leaving Grey for a second.
Curtis frowns in confusion looking down as you as you gesture with your hands back to Grey. It took Curtis a moment before he suddenly realised you were using sign language.
“He’s here for help, he wants to get away from Gilliam” you explain glancing up at Curtis quickly, a worried look in your eyes.
“Why?” Curtis asks frowning over at Grey.
Grey’s eyes dart to Curtis before looking back at you and quickly signing something.
“Is there somewhere private we can talk about it?” You translate, glancing over at Tanya and Edgar.
Curtis clears his throat, studying Grey for a moment trying to decide whether to trust Grey or not. Wondering whether this was all a game being played by Gilliam. He knew he needed to hear Grey out though, if there was a chance he needed help then Curtis couldn’t say no.
“We can talk in my office,” Curtis says nodding in the direction of his office, he glances at Edgar and Tanya “you two back to work”
Edgar and Tanya instantly turn away and go back to the work they were doing. Curtis took your hand in his before walking towards his office, gesturing for Grey to follow.
Once inside his office, Curtis shuts the door and draws the blinds so there was no potential for prying eyes. He moved to sit down in his chair, gesturing for Grey to sit in the one on the other side of the desk. You remained standing, one hand resting on Curtis’ shoulder, thumb rubbing circles to calm him.
“So… why are you here? Why do you want to leave Gilliam’s garage?” Curtis asks leaning back in his chair, getting straight down to business.
Grey swallows nervously as he glances at you before beginning to sign.
Once he was done you let out a shaky breath, shaking your head “he says Gilliam’s been taking advantage of him, using him as a lackey, underpaying him because he can’t speak out against him”
Curtis frowns “why didn’t you leave before? Why now?” Curtis questions.
Grey begins to sign again “because Gilliam threatened him, said he’d never work in any other garage, and nowhere else would hire someone like him” you translate before your breath caught as Grey signed something else “and because I could finally give him a voice”
Curtis lets out a long sigh rubbing his beard in thought. What Grey said sounded exactly like what Gilliam would do, Gilliam had made similar threats when Curtis confronted him. Telling him no one would hire a screw-up like him, that he was better off staying and working for Gilliam. Looking at Grey there was nothing to suggest that he was lying either.
“Gilliam doesn’t have the power he says he has, and you always have a voice Grey, you can work here with me, and you’ll be paid accordingly,” Curtis tells him, his hand dropping from his beard.
Grey’s eyes widen in surprise, quickly sighing something “but what about Gilliam” you say.
“He can complain, but he knows from experience going against me if a losing battle, you’ll be safe from him here” Curtis explains.
Grey looks back at him with a grateful look on his face as he nods, quickly signing what Curtis assumed was a thank you.
“It’s nothing, you can get straight to work if you want, there’s a camero out there that needs its radiator fixed,” Curtis says nodding to the door.
A smile forms on Grey’s face, standing up with Curtis. Curtis opens up the office door for him, patting him on the shoulder as he walked out. Tanya and Edgar send him a questioning glance as they watched Grey walk over to the camero Curtis has been working on. Curtis gave them a reassuring nod, telling them all was okay and to trust Grey.
He then stepped back inside the office shutting the door behind him and turning to face you “I didn’t know you knew sign language” he comments.
You shrug your shoulders “never came up in conversation” you say as he walks over to you “when I was training, I worked in the Paediatrics ward and there was this girl who was there a lot and she was deaf, it was quite isolating for her especially when it was outside of visiting hours, so I learnt ASL so she wasn’t so lonely” you explain.
A proud smile forms on Curtis’ lips as he wraps his arms around you “you are amazing you know that right?” He says.
You scoff lightly shaking your head in disagreement but Curtis cups your cheek and gets you to look at him “you are amazing” he states leaving no room to argue.
A bashful smile tugs at your lips “it’s nothing really” you whisper.
“You gave both that little girl and Grey a voice when they needed it the most, that is not nothing,” Curtis says “and I’m so lucky to have someone like you”
Your smile widens as reach up to brush your lips against his “I’m lucky to have you too Curtis”

Mechanic AU. Please?
This one's for you and @dirtyrobber70 who also requested the mechanic AU. I will say 1) I know fuck all about cars 😂 and 2) there are no real working class areas in the north end. Not anymore.
There are so many points to suspend your disbelief in this one it's ridiculous. But we're here to have fun, right?
“No… no no no no no,” Maura Isles, neurosurgeon coming off the tail end of one of the worst twenty-four shifts of her entire life, pounds on the steering wheel of her Mercedes C300 as she eases it to the side of the road about ten blocks from her home. It’s smoking under the hood, and she can feel how hot it’s getting. From the inside. “This cannot be happening.”
It is indeed happening, right at 6:45 PM when the end of her shitty day is in sight. The end drifts much farther away, and she wants to cry when she slaps her hazards on and calls AAA for a tow.
She waits for nearly an hour, when a tall, handsome Italian with wavy brown hair hops out of the truck and nods at her. She thinks her evening is turning around when she ogles him, maybe just a bit, but then, the Italian speaks.
“Oh wow. I hope you don’t mind me sayin’ this, but you’re so hot,” he tells her, running a hand through his hair, dragging his gaze up and down her body. “I uh, I usually don’t get customers that look like you.”
Maura rolls her eyes. She is often kind, even to men like this. Men who probably paid someone to take his SATs. She also often doesn’t make assumptions, but she’s exhausted and he has been unbelievably rude. “What do you mean? We’re in Beacon Hill. There’s someone like me on every block.”
“Oh no, sweetheart, not like you,” he reiterates with another leer. But then, he holds out his hand for her to shake, standing a respectable distance away. “Giovanni Gilberti, of Gilberti and Sons towin’,” he tells her.
She takes his hand and his grip is firm despite how limp hers is. “Well, Mister Gilberti, I would truly appreciate it if you help me get to a mechanic.” Cars whiz by them, and their conversation is had to the soundtrack of busy Boston in the background.
“Well,” Giovanni rubs the back of his neck and checks his watch, “there’s really only one place open right now, and they’re in the North End. And they’re kinda pricey. But they do work on Benzes.”
“I’ll pay whatever,” says Maura with a frustrated sigh, a guttural puff of air that complements the gritty asphalt smell. “Just take me there.”
“Alright then,” Giovanni agrees. “Hop in the cab and I’ll hook this baby up. Whew - that’s not lookin’ good. A few more feet and you mighta caught fire,” he whistles when he sees the smoke still billowing from under the white hood.
Maura’s teeth set again. “I’ll be in the truck,” she grumbles.
___
She’s greeted by another Italian business when they finally arrive at Rizzoli Motors, a quaint looking shop nestled deeply within the North End, beyond all the fancy restaurants and historical landmarks. In fact, it’s in the quieter, more working-class part of the neighborhood, and Maura is filled with doubt. Doubt, mingled with her exhaustion, creates snippiness. She holds her purse close to her body when Giovanni takes her into the shop between two cars already in for repairs. “Owner’s office is back here,” he says, leading her toward a small cube of a room in the corner of the shop with the door propped open. “Hey Rizzolis!”
Maura expects more knuckleheads like him to emerge, and she hopes, for their sakes, that they are just as attractive, because he’s already been hard to stomach.
She does not expect a woman’s voice to answer. “Jesus, G, you scared the shit outta me. What’s the - oh. Hello,” it says. It comes out of the woman wiping some kind of sandwich dressing from the corner of her mouth, putting her washed, but still oil-tinged thumb in it and sucking.
“This here is uh,” Giovanni stops, and he’s realized he never got Maura’s name.
“Doctor Maura Isles,” Maura emphasizes the doctor just because all her frustration needs to go somewhere, and this woman, in navy coveralls and her hair pulled back from the smudges on her face, is the first person she sees.
“What can I do for you, Doctor?” Jane gives it right back. Then, her dark, lively, cutting eyes spot the Mercedes on the truck out back. “Yeesh. Nevermind, I see it.”
“This is Jane Rizzoli,” Giovanni cuts in, stands between them before either of the two can strangle the other. “She owns the place.”
Maura chews on the inside of her cheek until it hurts because Jane looks at neither of them now. She gazes only at the car, and starts a slow walk towards it. Maura feels ignored. “Can you help me?”
“Yeah. G? Get it into bay three,” Jane answers. Maura feels a flutter in her belly like she does anytime she watches someone work. Someone in their element.
“You got it, Janie,” Giovanni heads back out.
“And G?”
“Yeah, kid.”
“Get the hell outta here when you’re done,” Jane barks. Giovanni laughs even though Maura doesn’t think it’s a joke.
___
“Usually customers wait in the office,” Jane grumbles from under the propped up hood of Maura’s car. She’s got eye protection on now, and gloves.
Maura is inches away, peering into the guts. “It’s empty. You and I are the only ones here.”
“And outta the two of us, I’m the only mechanic,” Jane counters.
“That doesn’t mean I don’t know how to spot a job well done,” Maura replies. “Or one not so well done.”
Jane stands up straight. She’s Maura’s foil in most every way, covered in grime and workwear while Maura wears a sleeveless white dress with a navy blazer over it, the whole ensemble costing well over five thousand dollars not including the shoes. Jane’s hair is wild and dark despite being tied behind her head, while Maura’s falls in wheat-colored waves about her shoulders and back. “What’re you tryin’ to say here? I don’t do good work? You don’t know me.”
Maura steps back, pretending to survey her surroundings. She even pokes her head out to look at the buildings near theirs. “Your shop isn’t exactly in the most affluent part of town. And you’re open very late. You must be desperate to drum up business. Maybe because there are other, better places in town?”
“This is my home,” Jane says. “I like to give back to the people that raised me. And you know what? Yeah, it’s not exactly Back Bay out here. But that doesn’t stop me from doin’ pretty well for myself.”
“I-”
“And you know why I do well for myself?” Jane presses on, derails Maura’s next utterance. “Because I’m open late - and I’m open late because uppity, rich doctors like you, they drive fancy cars like this and work crazy hours. So when they get off work, guess where they come?”
“To you,” Maura plays along, because she has to admit, she’s been schooled.
Jane gets close to her now, just to prove her point and to show off her anger. Maura smells oil and something slightly fruity, maybe coolant. “To me. Your radiator’s leakin’. See this plastic part here?”
Maura peers in, and Jane doesn’t exactly move very far to accommodate. They’re side by side, almost touching, as they study it. “This one?” Maura points to confirm.
“Yeah that one. It’s cracked and brittle. From deposits. That causes a leak, which gets you… whoosh,” Jane explains, and then imitates a rush of fire. “It’s gotta be replaced. You’re looking at like 1700 bucks.”
Maura fights a smile. Neurosurgeon or not, she needs a simple explanation and Jane gives it to her. She knows nothing about cars. And suddenly, she realizes how lucky she is to be standing next to Jane, and not in a fiery wreck over by Storrow. “I… I’m sorry. That wasn’t about you.”
“Usually isn’t,” Jane says.
“I just… I’ve had the worst day at work and now this. I behaved rudely. There’s no excuse,” Maura sighs and closes her eyes hoping to banish the headache barreling toward her.
“There isn’t,” Jane stands up straight again, and this time her gaze is understanding, and not combative. “But it happens to the best of us.” Then, Jane looks around the empty garage, and snaps her fingers. “Tell you what. Why don’t I pull out a chair from the office, and you can at least relax while you supervise me.”
“Jane, I-”
“No, no, come on. I’ve got some beers in the fridge, too,” Jane insists.
“You drink while you work?” Maura asks, skepticism rising again.
“I’ll have soda water, sheesh,” Jane says, but she winks when she does. “We’ll get some music goin’ and you can listen to me talk while I wheel under the body there and drain the radiator. Or, you can tell me all about your crappy day. Deal?”
Maura contemplates for a moment, then she shakes her head, putting her hand to it. What the hell. “Sure, sure. Why not.”
“Good, good,” says Jane. And she disappears for just a moment to retrieve that chair and those beers.
The end of Maura’s shitty day is finally, yet again, in sight.
