"A study released by researchers for Rebuild by Design and Ramboll, an architectural engineering firm, suggests that every dollar invested in green infrastructure ultimately yields $2 in “avoided losses” (office closures, waterlogged inventories, flooded basements) and other benefits (improved home values and public health) [...] Just days before the September storm, New York’s mayor, Eric Adams, slashed $75 million that had been slated for the city’s Parks Department to deal with a budget crunch. Disinvestment in parks is going to cost the city in the long run because parks are a first line of defense against climate change."

Harry claims he hit his head on duty (he did not). In other words he constantly finds reasons to go to the hospital just to see Dr. Malfoy only to ask him out

i also realise there's people who are gonna be like "you expect me to believe that tony tinystepsforward is 29, disabled, a sex worker of nearly a decade, worked at automattic for six years, and someone who does as much organising with local trans and prison abolitionist and sex worker spaces as they seem to imply" and frankly you can believe i'm lying if you want, that's your right, just block me or w/e you don't have to be here. but yes i do in fact both work to eat and work for a better world. i just happen to be the kind of person who really struggles with inertia and is always doing a million things. kiasu, as my singaporean friends still call me, though i don't think i fit the classic archetype there at all — it's not a fomo thing as much as a having poor judgement about the feasibility of the ways i want to be generous with my time and energy and skills. i'm working on it. i would like to learn how to rest.

Putting wips of your characters from different campaigns on the same page is a mistake I was just trying to compare them for height reference and I accidentally created a fairy gf/goth gf dynamic! Now I’m SAD and MAD because these two are my own characters and the only way I’ll ever get to see them together is if I go off the rails and actually draw AU content for them!
…which I might. I have no idea what I’d draw but literally them just standing on the same page is cute and I want to see what my 5’5 space paladin and my 6’3 pf magus would do if they ever existed in the same room

I just have to say like. Astarion is some of the best trauma survivor representation I have ever seen, especially in a video game. Larian handled it with so much care, I'm really blown away by it.

I do think the general rule of you can never add too much garlic is a good one, and important training wheels for normie midwesterners, brits, etc (sry 4 the cheap shot lol)…however I just spent literally over 30 minutes slowly browning onions and cumin perfectly for my mujadara and mixed it all up with the lentils and rice. And then I fucked it up supremely by adding garlic powder. Just stomped all over my painstakingly cultivated browned onion flavor :-( :-( :-( :-( what I have now is horrible quotidian lentil rice. My beautiful fleeting mujadara…she is gone…dead with all the things that made her special……….learn from my mistakes. Ouuuuuughhhhh :-(

Building a Business That Stands the Test of Time
Anik Singal’s conversation with Ryan Alford on Right About Now offers a rare glimpse into the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. This isn’t just a story of making millions—it's about building a business that endures, even after facing life’s toughest challenges.
The Long Game in Business
Anik reflects on the importance of playing the long game. He learned that building a brand takes time, but it’s the only way to create something lasting. 🎯 His software company, which took years to develop, stands as a testament to this philosophy.
“That which you build fast will crumble even faster. But what you build slowly will last a lifetime.”
Embracing Hardships as Opportunities
Instead of burying his past mistakes, Anik uses them as fuel to inspire others. Whether through podcasts or his academy, he’s teaching entrepreneurs how to turn their worst experiences into their greatest victories.
“What’s that little demon you’ve hidden away? How could it serve you rather than hurt you?”
Final Thoughts
Anik’s story is proof that success isn’t about avoiding failure but learning how to rise after every fall. 🏆 As Ryan wraps up the episode, he leaves us with a powerful reminder—success isn’t built overnight, and those who play the long game will always come out on top.
