Here's some food for thought.

Most of the characters we see in remarried empress are more than likely slave owners given how slavery is accepted as normal and justified in both the east and the west.

You mean to tell me that Lotteshu is the only slave owner in the slavery adjacent empire? Yeah right.

as someone who loves rashta as a character, i recognize what she’s done and i still like her as a character. as a human? she needs some work, but there’s sympathy for her in that aspect

but i have to say she changed my perception of female characters in literature because i realized that more often than not, when a female character disagrees with the female lead or poses a threat to her in any way, she’s usually brushed off as a dumb obstacle when she could be much more

Idk whether it's intentional or not but artist giving Navier three buns looking like horns while giving her wings looks like a clever choice.

Here superficially she looks like a good hearted saintess saving the poor slave girl. But when you look at her horns/buns it's obvious she's anything but. She's a royal blood, benefitting from the system of abuse and takes pride in it too.

I know the artist has a soft spot for Rashta but she really deserves kudos for portraying this kind of scenarios.

Royals aren't heroes, they're not our saviors as we often seem to think. They're our oppressor no matter the gender.

◈ Of-course Rashta's death affected Sovieshu, considering his daughter was left to him completely who he wasn't sure how to take care of..ad with Rashta's wishes, Sovieshu had to get Ian back from Libetti Rimwell, before leaving them as they want..so two infants to take care of, it wasn't easy...no, on top of that, being an emperor took a toll on Sovieshu.

◈ But surprisingly, he met you at one of Ian's banquet, with the rumor that Ian was hidden due to bad health like Rashta, as he took care of both the children..But of-course as fate would have it, Ian ran and hid in a gorgeous person's arms and from there..Sovieshu got a new spouses, YOU!

◈ Of-course, you'd have to take care of the children a bit, despite them being illegitimate, with a newborn Gloreym and Ian and he felt so much better, Of-course Rashta holds a place in his heart..but You have your own place.

◈ He would compare you at times to Rashta, but reminds himself you both are different people and honestly you're happy to have him heal a bit. Days are often spend with lavish gifts, cuddling with the two babies who coo and babble to you 24/7 and seeing the two bond weirdly close.

◈ God the two have the chubbiest cheeks wit the most contagious laughs, no wonder Rashta was easily loved, you'd realize. As you'd comfort one of the babies in the middle of the night after one of them woke up crying, waking the other too while Sovieshu's comforting the other inside the room.

◈ The kids cling to you, nothing's off limits. Seriously, even as growing up, the two cling to you and you'd try to tell them about Rasta as much as you'd be able to if you were close with her, the public's opinion and stuff. Sovieshu always smiles, seeing you and the two together.

◈ Another thing is, Sovieshu gets a bit petty when he doesn't get enough attention, so aside from children, you have an emperor clinging to you as well, good luck. But all three are cute, so you're lucky.

◈ With a Sovieshu comes great responsibilities and that comes in the form of hyperactive cuties with fluffy silverish-blonde hair and adorable faces who look like angels who have an obsession with shiny things like little crows, as they continue to cling to your dresses and follow you everywhere like little ducklings.

◈ Sovieshu adores children, as it was stated in the novel somewhere, and so I do think that maybe after Ian and Gloreym grow a few years older and become more manageable, he'd like to have more children with you, one that looks like you now! Your hair colour, your smile or even your temper, s the world could see his love even as years passed, like they saw his love for Rashta through Ian and Gloreym.

◈ He showers you with incredible gifts and always makes sure you enjoy yourself aside from caring for his kids, he didn't want you to go through the depressing motions of taking care of children that Rashta suffered briefly after the rumors of Gloreym not being his daughter...and you settle well into your role as an empress if you take up the position.

◈ Overall he's an incredibly person who adores you and keeps you safe in his heart, though Rashta occupies a bit f it, you also share it with her, and you did not mind it as Sovieshu moves on and it sometimes feels like Rashta also moves on with her afterlife of the breeze as if someone is happily running with ribbons in their hair..

I'm noticing that because of Rashta's status as a runaway slave, people misunderstand her as a character despite their well-intentioned analysis.

I'm saying this because I'm seeing people trying to make it out like Rashta is entirely innocent and a lot more caring than she is shown to be canonically.

I still vividly remember Rashta happily thinking about replacing one of her ladies-in-waiting purely so she can improve her own image. And it had everything to do with that woman's status. That didn't happen as a result of Rashta being manipulated into it like her other decisions. Since she ended up in a position of power, she has shown disregard for someone below her because she doesn't benefit her.

Maybe this is because I'm only on chapter 131 as of right now, and I've never read the webnovel, but what has Rashta done to help people like her? And if she has, is it because she genuinely cares or because it benefits her in some way?

This is what makes her great as a character. She reminds us that being a victim doesn't make you a good person, nor should that absolve you of any wrongdoing.

Rashta may be ignorant, but she is not stupid. When she gets opportunities to climb the ladder, she will gladly take it and throw anyone under the bus. She intentionally puts up an image of herself to manipulate people around her.

Idk it's frustrating to see people who call out fans for ignoring obvious flaws and outright terrible behavior from characters like Navier and Heinley but turn a blind eye to stuff Rashta does.

Also, I love how every single post about The Remarried Empress I've made so far focuses on Rashta.

Getting villainized and portrayed as scheming whores by both the narrative and the fandom despite the fact they’re slaves and can’t consent.

Rashta's greed was a result of her being manipulated into thinking that being a mistress will not keep her safe, Duke Ergi mentioned that the former emperor got tired of a mistress fast and chased her out of the palace which planted a seed into Rashta's head that she needs to get a higher position in society if she wants to be safe and secure.

Yes what Duke Ergi said was technically true, Mistresses are easily replaceable but I absolutely love it (I don't) that plenty of the fandom like to pretend Ergi manipulating a uneducated Rashta is some yes king power move.

Rashta is afraid of being a slave again, the trauma the slander the straight up abuse both physically and emotionally she had to deal with by that entire family.

I have not read the novel, nor do I plan to, but I'm going off by what I know from the webtoon and some tik toks.

Sovieshu may have indirectly ruined his life but is that a reason to use Rashta and ruin her life? (Again, I'm going off of what I've read about Ergi's backstory) She was just wanted to be loved and cared for, once it was clear Sovieshu wasn't gonna love her the way she hoped she turned to Ergi who was using her the way everyone else around her already was.

Would it kill the author to make Rashta smart? Or happy? Or have something good happen to her for once?

Remarried empress + The Princess and the Pauper

This movie was my shit back in the day and now I am once again making another AU out of it.

Navier- Anneliese.

I pictured this taking place with a younger Navier (19) Kind of makes sense given how Anneliese is also shown to be very intelligent and resourceful.

Navier was still born the daughter of a Duke but her biological parents passed away when she was still a child, with her childless aunt (The Empress) taking her niece in and making her the next heir to the throne. Unlike the original remarried empress, Navier didn't get engaged to Sovieshu until much recently after a sudden mana shortage. To ensure the large amount of mages aren't left without a job, thus severely damaging the economy, the Empress agrees to marry her niece off to Emperor Sovieshu who would be able to help aide the crisis as his territory is still rich with mana stones. There isn't any worries over heirs if Navier gets married off since the Empress still has plenty of family, (she isn't really concerned about having a direct bloodline)

Rashta- Erika

This one required a few more tweaks of Rashtas character. I know in that in TRE, Rashta was 5-6 years younger than Navier but for the sake of this story, let's just say she's the same age as Navier.

Rashta is still basically a slave but in this version, she is still viewed as a person who can leave the property she lives in to go grocery shopping and what not, she's now an indentured servant to Viscountess Rimwell (Yes I gender bent Lotteshu, it's not the same without a mean ass old lady.) In order to pay off her late father's debt. On top of that, she is a single mother to her son, Ian, fathered by an old fling she had before he left after finding out about the debt she was in (Ian also isn't Alan's in this Au) The only way for Rashta to make any money to keep for herself and her son is to sneak out into town to sing while Ian stays in her arms. This usually works out of sympathy but Madame Rimwell sometimes finds out about what Rashta has been up to and takes whatever spare change she made.

Navier and Rashta have a proper introduction after the former makes a comment on how adorable Ian is and it soon leads to a quick friendship but when the princess mysteriously dissappears, Rashta is entrusted to pretend to be Navier for the meantime while Kaufman gets to the bottom of it. (Her disguise comes with additional golden contact lenses)

When questioned about the baby she brought with her, she claims to have found Ian as an orphan and wishes to keep him in the palace until someone else can adopt him.

Kaufman- Julian

This was really hard because there isnt really anyone who matches Julian in remarried empress except for Baron Lante but he's been described as an older man in the novel. Kaufman was the closest out of all the male leads in Naviers life so I thought "Eh, at least he'll actually be a decent person and not drug anybody in this timeline" I did also decide to remove his mind reading powers and replace them with Julian's ability to easily notice when something is wrong.

Both Kaufman and Navier are in love with eachother but they never actually get in any relationship together until the climax of the story since Navier is willing to prioritize her kingdom over her own happiness.

Kaufman was originally from a long line of Grand Dukes but after his kingdom lost in a war, many of the original nobles of the land were stripped of their titles and exiled, rendering Kaufman to live in poverty for most of his childhood. His known noble history still existed though and it was how he was granted the role of Naviers newest science tutor. (I imagined they met a few years prior when they were both teenagers)

Sovieshu- King Dominic

Yeah this wasn't hard at all, all I had to do was imagine a world where Sovieshu and Rashta were not a toxic couple.

Sovieshu is still an Emperor and while he did want to establish a peaceful alliance, he also didn't know if he could love Navier if he tried his hardest and initially planned on calling off his engagement to her and find another solution to the kingdoms mana crisis.

But of course, what he didn't know was that the real Navier had been kidnapped and in her place, was Rashta. Despite the rushed relationship to prepare for marriage, Sovieshu already felt that he could forge a genuine relationship overtime.

The rest to say about Sovieshu and Rashta is overall the same as Dominic and Erika, with the only key difference being Sovieshu becoming a loving step-dad to Ian. Since he also wasn't already married + actually viewing Rashta as a person, the two are actually a happy couple.

Heinrey- Preminger

This was probably the funnest part of this Au because Heinrey would absolutely rock as Preminger. It's actually makes sense when you realize that Heinrey initially planned on straight up kidnapping Navier if she didn't fall in love with him herself.

Similarly to Kaufman, Heinreys kingdom fell into ruin when he was still a prince after the house of Zemensia seized power and have successfully overthrown Heinreys family. Heinrey managed to escape but he is still resentful of his situation. He managed to work his way up in another kingdom as the Empress's advisor with a plan to enact his revenge: By draining the kingdom of every bit of mana he could find before giving it right back under the guise of a miracle he came across in order to marry Navier, become the next Emperor and go to war with the Zemensias to take back his homeland.

When word goes around that the Empress has already found a wealthy Emperor to marry Navier off too, Heinrey devises a new plan to kidnap Navier, wait for Sovieshu to cancel the engagement, pretend to be the one who rescues her and bring her back home so he can marry her and it all basically falls back to the original script of the princess and the pauper with a few subtle changes.

Fun fact: I imagined Heinrey with his own evil pet bird to mirror Premingers dog, Midas.

Lotteshu- Madame Carp

There isn't any big changes, everythings pretty much more or less the same, only that Lotteshu has been gender bent and is a bitchy old woman now 😂

If this plot is a tad historically inaccurate, I'm sorry, barbie movies aren't really known for everything being 100% realistic so there are more stretches than usual like colored contacts somehow existing in the 1700s.
