Title: The Sweetest Surprise
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Caroline Ducharme x Reader
Fandom: UConn Women’s Basketball
Summary: everyone knew but you
🏷️: @yailtsv
My sweet, sweet Carol. The strong beauty you are welcome back to the court baby🏀💙
Tumblr media
February 22, 2025
Hinkle Fieldhouse – Indianapolis, Indiana
[Group Chat: Ducharme’s #1 Fanclub: no y/n allowed]
Sister #1: You think she’s gonna cry?
Sister #2: Oh, 100%.
Sister #3: We’re taking bets? I got her tearing up the second she sees Caroline at the scorer’s table.
Sister #1: I got full waterworks once the final buzzer sounds.
Sister #2: We’re evil for this, but I love it.
I frowned at my phone, as I texted Carol before the game started; side-eyeing my sisters as they tried—and failed—to look innocent. They had been acting weird all day, whispering to each other and exchanging looks like they were in on some inside joke I wasn’t a part of. It was annoying, but I chalked it up to them just messing with me.
After all, I had a lot of emotions running through me already.
Caroline had been out for over a year. I had been at that game against Minnesota on November 19, 2023, when she went down. I had been there for the rehab, the surgeries, the nights when she didn’t think she’d ever step on the court again. Every conversation, every setback, every time she tried to put on a brave face even when she was hurting—I had been there.
And as much as I wanted to see her play again, I knew better than to get my hopes up.
“She’s getting close,” was all she told me this morning when I asked how she was feeling. I thought that meant she was aiming for a return sometime in the next couple of weeks.
So here I was, sitting in the stands, watching UConn vs. Butler with my sisters, just happy to support my girl from the sidelines like I had for the past year.
4th Quarter – 2:21 Remaining
UConn was up by 37 points, coasting to an easy win. The game was all but over. I was half-watching at this point, clapping whenever something good happened, but mostly talking with my sisters.
Then the crowd started buzzing.
It was subtle at first, like a ripple in the water before a wave. I noticed the UConn bench suddenly get louder. Players were grinning, slapping each other’s arms, eyes locked on the scorer’s table.
And that’s when I saw her.
Caroline.
Standing at the table.
Checking in.
I froze. My brain short-circuited. My heart stopped.
“No,” I whispered.
My sisters burst into laughter.
“YES,” one of them cackled, shaking my arm. “It’s happening!”
I couldn’t process anything. The roar of the UConn fans grew as the announcer called her name.
“Checking in for UConn… number 33, CAROLINE DUCHARME!”
Tears burned in my eyes before I could even think about stopping them. My hands flew to my mouth as my head shook in disbelief.
I turned to my sisters, betrayed. “Y’all knew?!”
“Of course we knew!”
“And you didn’t tell me?!”
They only laughed harder.
On the court, Caroline adjusted her jersey, pulled at her shorts, and stepped onto the floor for the first time in over a year.
I stood up, clapping furiously, still crying. “That’s my girl! LET’S GO, CAROLINE!”
She glanced toward the stands—toward me.
And she smirked.
Oh, she was so lucky I loved her.
4th Quarter – 13.1 seconds Remaining
It was surreal seeing her out there again. She moved cautiously, but her form was still so familiar. The way she ran, the way she positioned herself—it was Caroline.
She wasn’t forcing anything. Just getting into the rhythm, moving through plays. Butler wasn’t pressing, so she didn’t have to do much defensively.
And then—
A shot went up. The ball bounced off the rim.
Caroline rebounded it.
It wasn’t much—a simple defensive board—but the entire UConn bench exploded.
The fans cheered like she just hit a game-winner.
Even the Butler players smiled a little, recognizing the moment.
And me?
I was sobbing.
Not even a little bit. Full-on ugly crying in the stands.
The final buzzer sounded. UConn won, but that wasn’t the story of the night.
Caroline was.
My legs could not move fast enough. I shoved past my sisters, ignoring their giggles, and sprinted toward the court. The team was still celebrating, but I didn’t care.
She saw me coming.
And she grinned.
“DUCHARME!” I screamed, launching myself at her.
She barely had time to brace before I crashed into her arms.
Her laugh rumbled through her chest as she caught me. “Hi, baby.”
I pulled back just enough to grab her face, my fingers tangling in the edges of her sweaty hair. “You—” My voice cracked. I was still crying. “You didn’t tell me.”
She smirked, tucking a piece of my hair behind my ear. “I wanted it to be a surprise.”
I swatted at her arm. “That was evil.”
“You love me.”
I glared at her. “I do. Unfortunately.”
She chuckled, kissing my forehead. “Worth it.”
I sniffled, shaking my head. “I’m so proud of you.”
Her eyes softened. “Thank you.”
My hands slid down to her waist, squeezing gently. “How do you feel?”
She exhaled. “Tired. Overwhelmed. But… happy.”
I kissed her—soft, lingering, full of every emotion I had been carrying for over a year.
She smiled against my lips.
“I got a rebound,” she whispered.
I laughed. “Yeah, you did.”
And in that moment, nothing else mattered.

No but for real, AZA accredited zoos/aquariums the are works of beauty and passion. It's solely about conservation and making animals incredibly happy. The sheer number of non captive born species is insanely low and the rest of the percentage is made up by unrealeasable rehabbed animals that adjusted to their new environs. I can't say this enough. We obviously fucked up in the past but every accredited zoo/aquarium is 100% about species and environmental preservation, and the staff from top to bottom works so hard to make sure every animal is as happy and healthy as they can be.
If you doubt me, go check it out! Volunteer at your local AZA accredited spot. The passion is insane. No one makes any money. It's half run by volunteers of all ages. Seriously. Do it.
There should be a zoo for people who are against zoos that are just human actors dressed up in enclosures mimicking animal behaviors

As he sets out on the latest tour by his Led Zeppelin Evening, Jason Bonham is "a little sad" – but not angry – about losing his spot in Sammy Hagar's band.
Answering a fan's social media question a few days ago, Bonham revealed that his 10-year tenure with The Circle and last year's Best of All Worlds tour band had come to an end. "Sammy has decided to carry on with Kenny," Bonham wrote, referring to Kenny Aronoff, who filled in during the four Best of All Worlds shows in August when Bonham rushed to England to help care for his mother, who'd suffered a stroke.
The move reunited the last Chickenfoot touring lineup of Hagar, Aronoff, guitarist Joe Satriani and bassist Michael Anthony (along with keyboardist-guitarist Rai Thistlethwayte). The group, with Aronoff, has been pictured working on new material in the studio, and Bonham says Hagar let him know he'd been replaced not long after the tour's end.
"I was trying to answer fans, really, because they were asking me, 'Why aren't you involved with the new thing they're recording?' and saying, 'Aren't you gonna do it again?' 'I was let go, so, no,'" Bonham, who recorded three albums with Hagar (2015's At Your Service, 2019's Space Between and 2022's Crazy Times), tells UCR. "Sammy rang me awhile ago. He was asking about my mom, but then he said, 'Y'know, I’m not gonna do much next year,' blah, blah blah, 'and I'm gonna go with Kenny.' I was a little shocked, I must say. I'd be lying to you if I wasn't a little sad, because we were on fire at the end of the tour. And I got a little upset. That was strange, after 10 years of being with him."
Nevertheless, Bonham has nothing but good to say about Hagar. "Listen, I love the guy to bits. I don't wish him any ill. I still speak to him. Honestly, the guy has taught me so much – about business, being positive. I'm an English guy; I can be really negative half the time. Even if the sun is shining, 'but it could rain.' He really helped me in that aspect big-time, and business sense and never taking no for an answer, always believing in yourself."
"So, yeah, I had a great 10 years. He allowed me to always do what I wanted to do. When my thing would get busy he always gave me the space. I couldn't ask for more."
Bonham is pleased to report, however, that his mother is well on the mend. "Mom is absolutely doing amazing, which is more than I could ever possibly imagine – from literally being told 'Say goodbye now' to now," he says. "She is a stubborn, hard-ass woman that suddenly went, 'I'm OK. I'm gonna be good.' It's still gonna take a lot of rehab and a lot of time to get back to what she was, but the real painful part – she beat that. So she's fighting on. She's almost back to normal, almost back to not talking to me. So she must be getting better! [Laughs.] She's gonna be around for a lot longer."
Amid all this, Bonham has just hit the road again with LZE, kicking off Tuesday night, Nov. 19, in Indianapolis, with 18 more U.S. dates through Dec. 16. "It blows my mind that something I started 14 years ago, only wanting to do it once, has just naturally become a part of my life that I've enjoyed doing on a yearly basis," the son of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham says. "I never intended to do so many shows each year – but we've got about 20 in the beginning of the year and 20 at the end of the year, a winter run, and then bands started to ask me to go open for them on summer tours."
Bonham has kept his LZE set lists evolving as well; during its most recent rehearsals it's "been pulling out some songs that have never been done," or rarely performed, including "Friends," "Achilles' Last Stand," "In the Evening" and the extended "Dazed and Confused" from The Song Remains the Same.
Bonham says he's also "working to do" a full-album presentation of Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti for its 50th anniversary next year. "This is purely done as love, as a passion project," Bonham says. "I still get very kind of in awe or overwhelmed with the response we get. Every night I say to the audience, 'I will do it until I can't play any longer. If I can't play to the ability that the songs need, or the day I don't enjoy doing it, I will call it a day."
Bonham, who's also part of the all-star Black Country Communion, has some other points of pride for the year. He remains active with his son Jagr Henry, who had a rock radio hit with "Breed" this year.
"I'm so proud of him and the music he's making. Some of the music is a little heavy for some people’s tastes, but to me – I'm a drummer. I love riff-based music. We've got a really good start with it, and he's gonna come out and join [LZE] for a few shows and scare some of my fans a little because he's, like, 6-foot-4, he's ripped, completely tattooed, but the his band is great. I am just so pleased he's at this point, and it's just gonna get better."
HOW JASON BONHAM HELPED FOREIGNER GET BACK TOGETHER
And even though he was not an inducted member, Bonham was pleased to see Foreigner – which he played in from 2004-08 – get its due last month from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"Back in 2004, I did a charity event in Santa Barbra with [Foreigner founder] Mick Jones and got [current bassist] Jeff Pilson involved and we had one of the original keyboard players and I brought an old singer I'd worked with before. ... After it was over I said, 'Come on, Mick. let's get the band back together!' That was the start of it, and they're still touring 20 years later. My time there was short, but I'm really pleased I had something to do with bringing the band back together, 'cause the music of Foreigner is timeless."
He added with a laugh: "It was always weird ... 'cause my wedding song was 'Waiting For a Girl Like You.' That's when I danced with my wife. To play that on a nightly basis always felt a little weird."

Part II - Addiction
So my first time going in to rehab was Aug 2022 right after breaking up with a 6-month-relationship and having a strong fentanyl and heroin addiction. They sent me to Community Hospital in Indianapolis IN to detox and detox I did to the point where my stools were gummy and I passed out from low blood pressure. 8 days later it was out of my system and I was sent off to Praxis Recovery in Carmel which non-surprisingly is now shut down due to extensive 911 calls, overdoses, staff/client relationships etc. It was a party-house for the most part and an “addict meet&greet”! It worked for me for about 60days and I relapsed and got kicked out of a rehab in Anderson , IN called F.R.O.G. Recovery for having THC in my system which I got from a stupid vape pen. I was working at the time and had to get a hotel. I later on regretted getting that room because someone attacked me and I defended myself , and got charged with cross-domestic. They were going to throw the case out but in Jan I was outside and cold and needed shelter. I went to Wheeler Mission-women’s shelter and some lady grabbed my hat and threw it and someone made a report saying I disgustingly spit on the woman and that I was denied access to the shelter . Then later on I could regain access to the shelter so the case is being pro-longed on to Nov of this year. I’m so nervous and stressed out about these cases. They’re both false charges and should have been dropped upon receiving it.
And to add to the stress I’m homeless and staying at an African male’s house with a Mexican woman until I can get a job, find reliable transportation, and get back and forth to work. This seems easy but I had a few relapses and scared that once I work and see $, I might go buy drugs again. I’m going to the methadone clinic daily and it is requiring my brain not to crave the drugs anymore but at the same time I don’t want to be addicted to the methadone either because I was on it for 8 months once upon a time and went cold turkey for 3 days trying to get off of it. I had the shakes and sweats. It sucked tremendously. I told myself “not ever again” but here we are trying to avoid inpatient rehab and trying to get my life back together alone.
I picked up a side hustle as a phone sex operator and it doesn’t pay very well. Then again, I only put in 20-22 hours a week starting because that’s all the energy I really have for a job at the moment with focusing on getting a staying sober. It truly is one of the toughest things I have to do in my life! And I am going to do it for God, Jesus, my family , myself and people who believe in me or that have lost their loved ones due to addiction. I tried to stop a while ago and began to “glitch” like someone was running their socks on carpet and then “zapping” me in my brain and soul. I got super scared and ended up relapsing that same day. Once I have 14 days consecutive sober , I plan to blog and write about how my brain and body feels because it isn’t easy.
Kindest Regards,
J a s m i n e🐼

In the gritty realm of Detroit Lions' saga, head honcho Dan Campbell laid bare his uncertainties, admitting on a dreary Tuesday his optimism regarding the fate of quarterback Hendon Hooker as the gridiron chronicles of 2024 unfold.
Amidst the shadows of his tenure, Hooker, a raw talent plucked in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, languished in the depths of recovery, grappling with the aftermath of a savage ACL tear endured in his final act at Tennessee's gridiron amphitheater. It wasn't until the waning days of November that he graced the practice fields anew, donning the mantle of the team's forsaken third quarterback in the twilight of the regular season and the playoff crusade.
"I would say it’s hard because he was coming off the injury," muttered Campbell amidst the clamor of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis via Pro Football Talk his words echoing through the corridors of uncertainty. “He didn’t get to play, but he got a ton of — by the end of the year call it — probably three months of practice time and did a lot of scout time. He learned from Teddy Bridgewater, Jared Goff — seven-and-seven, a few team reps, good-on-good. The best I can tell you is there was growth. We saw growth, and that’s encouraging. That’s all we can ask at this point. I don’t think we entirely know what he is yet. There’s not enough evidence, but I know this: We saw progress, and that’s what we’re looking for.”
As the ravenous whispers of uncertainty swirled, Hendon Hooker, the transfer from Virginia Tech, emerged as a beacon of promise amidst the Lions' bright horizon. In the annals of Knoxville, he etched his name with bold strokes of brilliance, wielding his arm like a master swordsman in 24 glorious battles. 6,080 yards, 58 touchdowns, a mere whisper of five interceptions, all woven into the tapestry of his 68.9% passing prowess. His dreams of Heisman glory in 2022, dashed by the cruel hands of fate, relegated him to the shadows of fifth place in the pantheon of gridiron deities.
As of today Goff is entering the season in his final year under contract, leaving the future up for grabs. Detroit beckoned Hooker to its hallowed grounds, a harbinger of the quarterbacking renaissance envisioned by the Lions faithful. Bridgewater's parting left a void, a vacuum waiting to be filled by the burgeoning talent of Hooker. As the curtain rises on this season's saga, the stage is set for Hooker to seize the mantle of Goff's understudy, a role that beckons with both promise and peril.
“I’ve grown a lot, grown an awful lot,” Hooker said, via the team’s official website. “Just from coming in not knowing what to expect, especially with my knee and rehabbing that and not knowing when I would be 100 percent. To actually being 100 percent and continuing to learn the playbook while not taking physical reps, which is a little awkward. But being able to be with Teddy and Jared and ask them questions they never hesitated to help me.”

Taylor is my hero
Help me get this to Taylor please!!
Hello! My name is Christa raiter. I'm hoping this can get forwarded to Taylor Swift or if you can forward this to her. I just wanted to say I absolutely love you Taylor and I am your biggest fan. I'm trying to get tickets to come see your eras tour in November in Indianapolis, but I've been waitlisted. I hope I can get tickets. It's also funny because my favorite football team is the Chiefs and has been for 5 years now. I started watching football in rehab and my roommate was a chiefs fan so we watched every Sunday. Now I watch every single game. I'm also trying to get tickets to a game because I've heard the atmosphere at arrowhead is extraordinary, maybe I'll see you there one day. You're truly an inspiration and I'm so proud of how far you've come. I know every single one of your songs and I just see how you're an amazing role model and honestly my hero. Keep being awesome. I was wondering if there was any chance you could send an autograph, I'd love to hang it up in my room with my favorite artists. You've honestly helped me grow as a person this year. In my past I've suffered through heartbreak, depression, anxiety, addiction, and all of your songs have helped me through that. If you can, I can send you my address! Thanks so much ahead of time! Sorry to be taking up some of your free time! Love you and love how happy you are❤️Travis seems like a wonderful guy. He and Mahomes are my favorite chiefs players ❤️💛🤍❤️ I can't wait for Rep TV to come out, that is my favorite album!🖤🖤 I seriously could not even imagine meeting you one day, honestly it's on my list of things to make my life complete, even though I don't think it will happen haha.

Pittsburgh Pirates-Minnesota Twins Series Preview
8.18.23-Andre Jackson RHP (0-0) 5.47 ERA Vs. Pablo Lopez RHP (8-6) 3.66 ERA
8.19.23-Mitch Keller RHP (9-8) 4.27 ERA Vs. Sonny Gray RHP (6-5) 3.04 ERA
8.20.23-Osvaldo Bido RHP (2-3) 5.05 ERA Vs. Dallas Keuchel LHP (0-1) 9.45 ERA
The Pirates At A Glance- The Pirates started off hot with a (20-9) mark in April and things have came crashing down since. Pittsburgh is (34-58) since April and sit in last place with the Cardinals at (54-67). The Pirates just lost two out of three games to the Mets before finishing their road trip in Minnesota this weekend. The Pirates traded away Rich Hill, Ji-Man Choi, Austin Hedges, and Carlos Santana at the trade deadline. Oneil Cruz is slowly working his way back from a broken ankle injury that he suffered earlier in the year. Ji-Hwan Bae is on a rehab assignment with Indianapolis, who just happen to be playing the Saints this week. He looks like he could be activated soon. Dauri Moreta is out with a sore back. Bryan Reynolds has been the team's most consistent hitter with a .266 average, eighteen home runs, and fifty-nine RBI. Jack Suwinski leads the team with twenty-one homers. The Pirates starting rotation has an ERA of 4.92, which is 26th in MLB. The bullpen is a little better and owns a 4.19 ERA. David Bednar is one of the better closers in baseball. He has twenty-five saves and a 1.99 ERA. He has sixty strikeouts over 49 2/3 innings of work.
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins had a disappointing series finale loss against the Tigers on Wednesday. They had a 4-3 lead and Griffin Jax blew it. The offense tried to comeback with a couple homers in the ninth, but the struggles against the Tigers continued. The team gets another day off before playing the Pirates this weekend. Nick Gordon will begin a running program this week. Chris Paddack is facing live hitters in Fort Myers as he tries to return from Tommy John surgery. Jose Miranda is hitting off a tee and has began throwing. Alex Kirilloff has been swinging a bat and could begin a rehab assignment with the Saints soon. Royce Lewis has returned in a big way. He is hitting 4-for-7 with two RBI in his first two games back off the injured list. Donovan Solano is hitting .400 for the month of August. Max Kepler has five homers this month. Matt Wallner and Ryan Jeffers have four homers in August. Pablo Lopez has been great in August with one run allowed over nineteen innings of work. Caleb Thielbar and Emilio Pagan have given up a run over 6 1/3 innings in August.
What To Watch For- The Twins are (26-20) all-time against the Pirates. Pittsburgh took two of three games in April of 2021 at Target Field. The Twins took three of four from the Pirates in 2020. Andre Jackson, Mitch Keller, and Osvaldo Bido have never faced the Twins. Pablo Lopez is (1-0) with a 3.00 ERA over twelve innings against the Pirates. Sonny Gray is (4-3) with a 4.20 ERA in nine games against the Bucs. Bryan Reynolds has two career homers off Gray. Dallas Keuchel is (2-2) with a 4.38 ERA in four starts versus Pittsburgh. Andrew McCutchen is 1-for-10 off Keuchel in his career. This should be a winnable series for the Twins. The schedule gets a little tougher after this weekend with the Brewers, Rangers, and Indians coming up.
