Not dog related but have you been to Kuopio? My wife and I are planning to move there in a few years and I’m just curious what your thoughts might be as someone who actually lives in Finland. Also do you enjoy a cold dip after sauna or is that not really your thing?
I used to live in Kuopio! Spent my early childhood there. I still visit several times a year, it's one of those home-away-from-home places for me.
I don't enjoy cold, I rarely swim and I barely ever go to sauna (it always makes me feel sort of light-headed), so not my thing really :'> But if you think you might enjoy, like, the temperature shock and the adrenaline rush go for it.

The El Vaghih Mhamed O. Hmah Ellah Library is a small museum and library in the former house of Ehel Yida in the caravan town of Tichit, Mauritania. It's home to ancient artifiacts as well as religious, historical and scientific manuscripts that must be handled carefully.
There are many libraries like this across the country, which are inherited and maintained by the male descendants of the founders. In one of the photos above, a portrait of a former librarian has been placed on top of the sign.

It snowed when I went to Bastogne earlier this year, and then it rained in Passchendaele today. Fingers crossed for my birthday in Dunkirk later this week.

Colegio de San Gregorio in Isabelline Gothic Style
Colegio de San Gregorio was formerly the College of Theology for Dominican Friars built in Isabelline Gothic style in Valladolid, Spain. Isabelline was the iconic architectural style of the Crown of Castile region between the late 15th century and early 16th century. The occupation of the Napoleonic troops in the early 19th century marks the institution’s end. Today the building houses the Museo Nacional de Escultura (National Museum of Sculpture).

was at the temporary exhibit i helped complete some research for and one of the museum staff came over to me and brought me over to two guests, saying they worked with a nearby college and wanted to talk to me.
i introduce myself, talk a little about the exhibit, and ask what i can do for them? one of them is staring holes in my head and finally she asks
"you seem familiar to me, have i see you on campus before?"
i answer
"i'm in [college] library a lot, at least once a week, so probably there?"
"yes that's gotta be it. we heard from [curator] that you helped out with some of the research in the exhibit. we just wanted to ask how you got into the work so we can encourage other students as well"
and like.
I don't actually go to [college]. I'm not a student there. I just use their library, I have a guest library card
i happened to meet the curator in an entirely different library after he went to look at the book i was reading for my own research, and was so shocked that it wasn't on the shelf his initial instinct was that someone had stolen it
so i try to explain
"well, i don't actually go to your school, you just have a great library. but really what it comes down to is... well... going out and talking to people..."
(i know. ew.) and her face like you could see that was not the answer she was hoping for and the curator comes over and starts showing her the parts of the exhibit that included my research and about how we met and i feel so bad for this college lady like she's obviously here to help get students interested in this kind of work but lady i am a hermit that pokes my head out of my lair for like two days a week and its just to do research like i am not the poster child of the anthropology department

Travel and History of New York City USA
New York City, the enormous wild where dreams are made, stands as a striking, generally. Past its rising above tall plans and clamoring streets, the city holds a rich turning of history that has outlined its character and appeal. Striking Landmarks and Tall plans As you take a gander at the Figure of Freedom standing tall in the harbor and the Space State Building entering the skyline, you’re…

Join The Wolf of Baghdad on a journey into Iraqi-Jewish history
Tumblr media
In the 1940’s, a third of Baghdad’s population was Jewish. Within a decade nearly all of Iraq’s 150,000 Jews had fled. The Wolf of Baghdad is a graphic memoir of a lost homeland and a wordless narrative for a home never visited, with its own original soundtrack of Judeo-Arabic and Iraqi music recorded by the ground-breaking band 3yin.
The Wolf of Baghdad is a unique audio-visual journey through a Jewish family’s memories of their lost Iraqi homeland and speaks to audiences about the little-known story of Iraqi Jews and the NAZI inspired pogrom known as The Farhud. This music based and visual narrative is illuminated by the words and portraits of Carol Isaacs own family, whose stories provide a fascinating insight into the experiences of Baghdadi Jews.
Tumblr media
The Wolf of Baghdad film is based on Carol Isaacs book of the same title, which was published by Myriad Editions. The Wolf of Baghdad was included in the Guardian's best graphic novels of 2020. Sandi Toksvig also described it as a book "where you actually fall inside the story. It's wonderful.' Pictured is Carol signing copies at the Manchester Jewish Museum.
The Wolf of Baghdad film had its world premiere in New York in 2020 and it's first screening in Manchester, England, on the 4th Nov 2021. Visitors at the Manchester Jewish Museum were transported from Carol Isaacs current home in London, to her ancestral home in the old Jewish quarter of Baghdad. Audiences encountered ghost-like inhabitants and got to explore Baghdad through their memories.
The Manchester Jewish Museum provided the ideal setting for The Wolf of Baghdad film, especially with the former synagogue having such strong ties with Manchester's Iraqi community. Opening its doors in 1874, as the first Sephardi synagogue in Manchester, Iraqi's who worshipped there included the family of the famous World War One poet Siegfried Sassoon, who came to Britain from Basra in 1858.
The Wolf of Baghdad book and film are available to buy from the Manchester Jewish Museum, 190 Cheetham Hill Rd, Cheetham Hill, Manchester M8 8LW. Both can be purchased online and you can also rent The Wolf of Baghdad film, and have it streamed to your home through Carol Isaacs TSM Cartoons website.
Holocaust Memorial Day takes place on 27th January. You can learn more about the Holocaust at the Auschwitz Museum. You can also develop your understanding of The Farhud at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and learn more about the Jewish experience in North Africa at Yad Vashem.

Oksidasi Bayam Menghasilkan Racun!
