The fanart is done! Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden isn't a perfect game but it has all I need as an character oriented artist: Pretty clothes, amazing people who aren't all conventionally attractive (there are ugly women! Interesting faces! All npcs and MC's have different ear shape!!!) and wonderful story where each investigated haunting isn't as obvious as it might seem. Also it has Antea, easily jumping up there on the top best female characters of all time with Tigress and McGonagall. I love me a hard woman who has has personality elements normally reserved for brooding male characters. Also Red is a green flag man, they're perfect. This fanart was a blast to make, and while I kinda hoped I would conjure an absolute masterpiece, i'm not unhappy with how it turned out. I'm glad I had the patience to add some background and make it fully colored!

I'm obsessed with how the only truly bad ending (imo) is when you fail to keep the promise you made and commit to a chosen path.

Like yes, the suffering you have to inflict on innocent people to bring Antea back is awful, and it's implied that maybe Antea will continue to crave life essence after resurrection, but it's not treated as entirely evil or unforgiveable that Red can't let her go. It's just a very human reaction to an unfair death, tragedy piled atop tragedy. There's a good reason Antea gets angrier the more she learns of Deborah's story and her betrayal. They both suffered in their last moments, except Antea wasn't alone.

Literally this game is like banishers are the children of Orpheus, and you will walk through hell for your love and you can't avoid looking back and maybe you're both doomed but this time you can change how the story ends, you can bring her back. It might cost you your morals and your oath to protect the living from the dead. You will hate yourself if you do. But you can save her.

In fact the only thing that repeats the whole horrific cycle for sure is failing to follow through with what's required to ascend or resurrect Antea, if you can't keep your vow.

You don't have to be selfless or good. You don't have to be better or kinder than the cruel and ignorant settlers who let Deborah die and created the curse that killed Antea. You just have to be brave enough to act and live with the consequences, one way or another.

Anyway I wish this game had more of a fandom because I'm so not normal about them. Time to go play Vampyr.

Banishers was absolutely worth the wait. My playthrough is still ongoing and I enjoy every second of it.
