It is hard to believe it had been almost 4 years since my first visit to Bryce Canyon National Park. The red rocks lightly dusted in snow was exactly the shot I was hoping to capture.

A Musing Mondays 🎐
I gonna start doing a Monday post based on what in the past week has amused me or been my muse. Could be a quote, could be a new perspective I gained, could be a neat rock that I found.
I think as creators it can be easy to forget that the things we experience in the now fuel our work too- not just our pasts. If you're feeling uninspired and unmotivated, if your 'muse' seems to have left you, that's when you probably need to step away and live a little.
This weeks a-muse-ment is in the neat rock category for sure 🤘

This weekend I visited Bryce National Park and went on a challenging but very rewarding hike where I took all these photos. It really got me thinking about environments ✨️ The Outlands in my WIP 7 Circles is largely desertscape, but there are soooo many geologic features you can find in a desert. Slot canyons! Hoodoos! Petrified dunes! Carved-in sandstone dwellings! I'm buzzing with thoughts of how to twine these in later in my story. Do any of yall have cool geological features in your stories?

Buck Canyon Overlook, Canyonlands National Park (No. 4)
Canyonlands National Park contains a wide variety of plant life, including 11 cactus species, 20 moss species, liverworts, grasses and wildflowers. Varieties of trees include netleaf hackberry, Russian olive, Utah juniper, pinyon pine, tamarisk and Fremont's cottonwood. Shrubs include Mormon tea, blackbrush, four-wing saltbush and cliffrose.
Cryptobiotic soil is the foundation of life in Canyonlands, providing nitrogen fixation and moisture for plant seeds. One footprint can destroy decades of growth.

Doing a road trip from Vegas to all the Utah national parks and multiple state parks and national monuments next month. Anyone got any tips or any places I should check out? I probably have most of the open spaces saved but lesser known places are good to know and even more so I'll take some food recommendations or just general tips :)
We are renting a jeep so dirt roads are fine ❤️

New Technique?
I doubt I invented this, but I only seem to be the only artist that does this technique. Basically what I do is Watercolor on oil canvas. What I do is marker and ballpoint pen first then I give it a wash with watercolor and wipe it away with wet or dry rags. The sealant I use will make the ball point pen purplish adding another level of contrast.

I will also edit them digitally as well to change colors or give a piece an upgrade.

Photos I took of Arizona last year! I may not live there, but I find deserts beautiful!

The bird in the fifth one is a California condor, there are only two hundred of them in the wild!

bonus Utah as well.
“oh, I live in a desert and-”
“wow that must be so terrible” “deserts are so ugly” “I would never want to live in a wasteland like that” “it’s just empty nothingness”
wishing 10,000 exploding hammers upon you
behold New Mexico
