Christmas countdown day 11 — Go Christmas Carolling

He was already in the process of opening the door when she knocked, her eager and wide eyes trained on him and then Alpine as she lazily stretched on the couch. Becca had bounced on her heels, opening and closing her mouth twice before she called out for you down the hall.

“Ma! Your promised!” Becca whined, momentarily departing from Bucky’s door to find you again. “Bucky! Mama and I are gonna go Christmas carolling with some of the other families, do you want to come?”

“She made me dress up as an reindeer-elf.” You stepped into his view, the sight of the antlers and elf-ear headband stirring an natural and charming laugh.

“You’re the cutest reindeer-elf I’ve ever seen.” Bucky assn unapologetic as he complimented you, already reaching for his coat.

“Aww thanks, Pyro.” You beamed, smiling at him as you reached for Becca’s shoulder. “You really don’t have to-“

“I haven’t been carolling since I dragged Steve out in 1939, and he almost got pneumonia.” Bucky slipped his coat on and glanced back at Alpine lounging on the couch. “I’d love to come with you.”

“Yes!” Becca cheered, her excitement unbound. “We’re gonna go down the street to the townhouses and then across-“

“Becca,” Bucky had stopped her, reaching into his pocket for a small wrapped gift and then he set it in her hands, “merry early Christmas.”

She didn’t wait, didn’t hesitate for a moment to rip the paper off, handing it off to you. As she opened the gift, she looked down at the brass pin that was resting inside. It was an engraved pin with the Howling Commandoes monicker on the front, and Bucky’s specific number on the bottom.

“Becca, what do we-“ she launched herself toward him, hugging him as tightly as she possibly could, the pin nearly falling from her grip.

“Thank you, Bucky!” Her voice hitched up, her excitement and pride over her new pin was unwavering. “This is amazing!”

“You’re welcome,” Bucky hugged her back, looking up at you with a smile on his face, “think we can sing better than your ma?”

“Of course.” Becca pulled away and handed her pin off to you like she had the wrapping paper. “Mama sounds-“

“Amazing, Rebbeca Anne.” Your eyes narrowed, your lips pursed. “I sound amazing.”

Bucky hummed under his breath as he tucked Becca in, wistfully watching her as closely as he could and with the gaze of a father figure rather than a neighbour. He had recently had a shift in thought patterns, an increasing desire and want to have a place in your family unit.

“SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN!” His favourite night of his life so far, was singing with her along a crowd of other parents, with her sitting on his shoulders.

“YOU BETTER NOT CRY, YOU BETTER NOT POUT-“ after nearly an hour and a half of carolling with you two, and an hour of playing with Alpine, Bucky had carried her to bed in his spare room after she fell asleep on him.

“I had fun tonight,” he heard your voice from the kitchen, your hands splashing in the dishwater despite him telling you to leave them, “thank you for coming with us.”

“Thanks for letting me tag along.” Bucky had stopped at the edge of the kitchen, listening to you humming and mumbling another Christmas tune, one that he knew well.

“I ought to say, "No, no, no sir" Bucky drew himself closer as you sing, adding the male’s line with a soft croon.

“Mind if I move in closer?” He was struck in place when you looked over your shoulder, his heart pounding with every passing moment of connectivity.

“At least I'm gonna say that I tried…” you withdrew your hands from the sink and dried them on the towel before you turned your back to the cupboard.

“What's the sense in hurting my pride?” He was a foot away now, his eyes dropping from yours to your lips and then back again.

“I really can't stay.” You whispered as his hands had rest against your hips, yours resting upon his shoulders.

“Baby, don't hold out.” Bucky lifted his right hand to your cheek, brushing his thumb back and forth against your warm flesh, his eyes searching yours.

“Baby, it's cold outside.” You leaned toward, not kissing him but resting against him seeking comfort and warmth.

Bucky had snaked his arms around you, he had held you pressed against him as some incomprehensible song filled his head. He began moving to the faux beat, his eyes closing as he breathed you in.

The two of you danced in the middle of his kitchen, the soft hum from him replacing the beat in his head, and you had joined him. There was no urgency, there was no rush time leave and depart from one another. Bucky was just as content for you to stay here as you were.

“She loves you, Bucky.” You muttered against his neck, your voice delivering immense hope and promise. “She wants you in her life, we both do.”

“I’m not going anywhere,” Bucky brushed his hand down your hair, finally feeling like he found home.

I thought I was alone with this thought. Neither Ruth nor Tessa are passing. Halsey & Logic pass, for example. I’m surprised they didn’t flag Rashida Jones for this type of role, as she has a relationship with Netflix, but I think she’s leaning more into her Black side these days (for obvious reasons). Ironically Rebecca Hall’s mother is more racial ambiguous as she’s gotten older than when she was younger.

Ps: Netflix can apparently only find racially ambiguous black biracial women when the character is coded as a mono-racial (usually dark skinned) woman

Adapted from the celebrated 1929 novel of the same name by Nella Larsen, PASSING tells the story of two Black women, Irene Redfield (Tessa Thompson) and Clare Kendry (Academy Award nominee Ruth Negga), who can “pass” as white but choose to live on opposite sides of the color line during the height of the Harlem Renaissance in late 1920s New York. After a chance encounter reunites the former childhood friends one summer afternoon, Irene reluctantly allows Clare into her home, where she ingratiates herself to Irene’s husband (André Holland) and family, and soon her larger social circle as well. 

As their lives become more deeply intertwined, Irene finds her once-steady existence upended by Clare, and PASSING becomes a riveting examination of obsession, repression and the lies people tell themselves and others to protect their carefully constructed realities.

finally watched the night house and a couple things 1. totally agree with the praise rebecca hall’s performance received she is phenomenal in this 2. the first hour and 15 minutes of this movie are really good 3. the last 20 minutes are stupid and awful and made me hate the movie overall 4. this shot

is one of the best in any movie I’ve ever seen I had to rewatch it immediately like 20 times in a row and it’s the only time that this kind of visual works in the movie the rest of them were like i already said stupid but yeah that shot and rebbeca hall’s performance are the only things worth anything in this movie imo

Si hablamos de elegancia, delicadeza, sensibilidad y buen gusto, “Claroscuro” es, sin lugar a dudas, su película. Basándose en la novela del mismo nombre que la escritora de color estadounidense Nella Larsen escribió a finales de la década de los veinte del pasado siglo, Rebbeca Hall, una joven y atractiva actriz londinense, escribe el guión y debuta como directora para realizar esta pequeña maravilla con sorprendente sencillez, hondura y sutileza.

Con la muy probable finalidad de otorgar mayor credibilidad al relato, Hall filma su obra en un nostálgico y evocador blanco y negro para situar la acción en la ciudad de Nueva York a finales de 1929.

Saturada de elocuentes primeros planos en los que la expresión de la mirada sustituye a la palabra y en los que el gesto revela los insondables secretos de la mente, “Claroscuro” nos trasmite la frustación, resentimiento, impotencia y emoción contenida de dos mujeres negras cultas e inteligentes de clase acomodada, pero igualmente sometidas a los prejuicios raciales que históricamente, y hasta el día de hoy, seguimos padeciendo.

Ambas, la actriz Ruth Negga como Clare y Tessa Thompson en el papel de Irene, convertidas aquí en el eje sobre el que pivota el argumento, sostienen un duelo interpretativo en el que la intensidad y autenticidad que imprimen a sus personajes se desbordan de tal manera que nos obligan a permanecer hipnóticamente hechizados durante los cien minutos de metraje.

Mientras Clare, orgullosa de su condición étnica, vive razonablemente satisfecha, ama a su marido y a sus dos hijos, disfruta de su entorno familiar y se mantiene supuestamente indiferente a la presión racista, Irene, casada con un acaudalado hombre blanco y furibundo supremacista, se avergüenza de su origen mulato al extremo de hacerse pasar por blanca incluso ante su propio marido.

Un doloroso drama se irá cocinando lentamente mientras se conocen, pues su influencia mutua va minando sus respectivas convicciones, que acaban tambaleándose peligrosamente.

Y si realmente les gusta el buen cine, el cine de cinco estrellas, aquel que, como todo lo excepcional, se da con usurera salvedad, no se pierdan esta extraordinaria película que Netflix acaba de estrenar recientemente.

The next days went pretty normal going through the days until she was walking down the hall seeing three abnormals waiting against her locker she recognized one of them as terry she crossed her arms as her tail whipped back and forth she seemed angry next to her was a bunny abnormal she had white bunny ears a piercing blue eyes and what seemed like a carrot lit like a cigarette in her mouth she had a black hoodie with a white bunny on it she also had gray pants and some white slippers with bows a a small bunny tail and brown short hair she seemed the kind of girl you didn't want to mess with rebecca has heard rumors that she was once in the war and she called people “soldier” which was proof she seemed to in the middle of terry who was on the right side and a bear abnormal on her left side the bear animal was a bit paller and had marks on his face [something that footballers put on there face } and two earis on his bear ears he had a black jacket with spikes on the shoulder and his shirt was brown showing the bow and arrow symbol meaning he was not only a bully and a rebel but he was a jock as well which meant he was also part of the football team he also had a small brown tail and black greyish pants and shoes he also had brown hazelish eyes with his brown short hair and bear like nose and mouth he could hear them talking about something she hid close by and peeked out

Terry "I still can't believe she had the nerve to talk to me like that after stealing my man she's lucky I only punched her in the face. Who does she think she is that brat?!” terry angrily huffed and scuffed her boats a bit her tail whippeing down and forth the bunny abnormal spoke in a calm yet almost mother fashion after taking out her carrot a blew out the fire and ate her carrot before pulling out a second one ”I understand terry but you gotta understand that you caint keep punching people in the face trust me as much as I would love to punch people in the face I dont you goota learn to control your anger solider “she said gently terry huffed “I know harlen but its not easy when half of this school are either stupid or “poupler “ makes me sick “harlen nodded “i compltely agree hun “the bear abnormal grumbeld a huff and said in a low gruffy voice as thugh he dident talk much “hey not all of us are bad i’m one of those “poupler kids “haren patted teddy on the shoulder “ dont worry teddy we know that you not just another popler guy just because your a quarterback on the football team we dont think any less of you “teddy [who rebbeca asuumbed wasent his real name } huffed abit and just agreed suddenly rebbeca hear a voice behind her “ whatcha doing freak show ?spying on the rebels ?” to her surprise there was a human in front of her he had black hair and had a black shirt with and black pants and had bags under his eyes she stuttered hoping to find someway out of the situation”I-I was just “the human gripped her strongly and plopped her in front of terry ,harlen and teddy “ I found this weirdo spying on you “terry nodded gruffly “thanks austin you may go”austin left snickering abit and terry looked down at rebeca with harlen and teddy standing besides her and rebecca knew she was in trouble.Terry picked up rebbeca by the hoodie “ what do you think you were doing freak spying on us you got a death wish or something ?!” rebbeca frantically shook her head “n-no terry I’m sorry I-it's just that you were standing in front of my locker I-I’m sorry p-please “terry growled and dropped rebecca “your lucky I’m working on controlling my anger don't let it happen again freak “rebecca nodded and hugged herself finally she got her stuff took a deep breath and went on with her day.

Rebbeca ran through the halls, not noticing the gem in front of her until she rammed into him. "Ah! I-I'm so sorry, here, let me help you up!" The 15 year old girl grabbed his arm, pulling him up onto his feet. (batchofdefects)

"Watch where youre going next ti-" Tiger started, then noticed the strange appearance of the girl who helped him up. Then he asked curiously "You don't look like any gem I've seen... what are you?"

Banquet

Location: La Roche Jagu, France Exhibited: 11th May - 6th October Year: 2019

This installation makes reference to medieval banquets and the physical sensation of participating in a feast. Playing with the fantasy of the banquet through flowers, the artwork looks at the extreme sensual experience of sitting in a banqueting hall consumed by nature. Rebecca has been inspired by the original architecture and intention for the space designed by Catherine de Troguindy in the 15th century. The feminine touches to this Chateau combined with its beautiful gardens has inspired an artwork that will take the viewer back to the past whilst projecting them into a contemporary, fantastical and sensational space. Using a collection of flora, home grown on french soil in Normandy, Rebecca collected materials as close to the medieval flora as possible. This installation holds over 15,000 flora combined with copper wire.
