all you’ve got to do is pick one activity to do tomorrow. One thing to look forward to. Find a new movie or tv show you want to watch. Check out if there are any local bands playing gigs nearby. Find a random new skill to teach yourself. Do your grocery shopping at a different supermarket. Play stardew valley with someone. Find a new recipe to learn how to cook. See what movies are in cinemas near you. Find a niche museum or community centre in your town. Explore a new park. Go to a thrift store. Go sit in the library for a few hours. Get coffee with a loved one. You can’t leave yet, you’ve got that activity to go do. Keep picking activities. I love you. Stay safe.

How to stop time: kiss.
How to travel in time: read.
How to escape time: music.
How to feel time: write.
How to release time: breathe.

Forcing yourself to see the world through love’s gaze can be healthy. Love is an attitude to life. It can save us.

Wherever you are, at any moment, try and find something beautiful. A face, a line out of a poem, the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a wind farm. Beauty cleans the mind.

reasons to stay alive
growing old is a privilege, not a curse; you will never see the face you’ll grow into with time
you won’t get to know the healed version of yourself
you’ll miss out on seeing yourself change with the seasons
you’ll die without ever having felt your own love
your survival is beautiful, you won’t be there to share your own story
reach out if you’re in pain — you will be grateful for having saved yourself when you’re older 🩶
(if you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number)

Reasons to stay alive: I do not want anyone to see how much trash there is in my apartment after I'm dead, but I'm also too depressed to effectively clean

”It would be easier for other people if I didn’t exist”
Oh, I’m sorry? When did you start existing for the approval of other people? When did you stop being crescent moon palms and iron tongue and soles scuffed on the pavement? When did you stop being grass between your toes and starlight reflected in your eyes and the answering choir of all your cells? When did you lose the pounding, thrumming, singing course of your lub dub heart through your ventricles and veins? Fuck what would be easier for others. You did not come from a burning star to be smothered and convenient.

“Depression is also smaller than you. Always, it is smaller than you, even when it feels vast. It operates within you, you do not operate within it. It may be a dark cloud passing across the sky but - if that is the metaphor - you are the sky. You were there before it. And the cloud can't exist without the sky, but the sky can exist without the cloud.”

If you need motivation to keep going:
Don’t kill yourself. Eventually, you will literally die no matter what. Why do it now when you could just fuck around and see what’s next until nature says it’s your time? Like yeah your situation sucks but like what if it gets better tomorrow? Or what if you die tomorrow via natural causes. Like it’s either gonna get better or you will naturally die and I think waiting for it to get better is a much smarter option bc option two is inevitable. If we were to do a cost/benefit analysis, waiting it out is much more effective usage of your time. You will get to the destination, our time will run out eventually, there is absolutely no rush to get there. I love you and you deserve to live out the rest of your days chasing whatever makes you happy! Is it not incredibly meta to say you didn’t kill yourself because you’re gonna die anyways?? Like hello stay alive and say fuck you to the institution or whatever. Literally be meta for your mental health.
