my controversial opinion is that i like that laios is bigger and more muscular than kabru because, as a poc, buff brown guy x scrawny white guy is so popular and tired, i like it whenever there’s a subversion of it from a work that’s well written. of course, not to mention that they have a very fun dynamic and the comic from the new official world guide spelling out for everyone that they do care about each other lol

i like that kabru does look feminine, especially when fandom makes the brown one always the bigger and masculine one in fanon and any instance of their delicate features is erased, even in yuri (looking at gwitch lol)

speaking of, i really like kikimari in that namari is portrayed as very masculine while kiki is feminine and elegant in fanwork

obviously, fandom isn’t activism duh, but i’m merely speaking from experience as someone who dabbles in both eastern and western fan spaces. i’ve seen it happen so many times that it’s become the staple so i love subversion that’s actually good

Randomly remembered Oliver ended up working at a magic/tarot/crystals shop and was beset by ideas. Mostly that it's very funny to me that this guy, infused with the power and presence of DEATH, could just be like Hey bud, would you like to know your future?

honestly i think the real tragedy of Declan, what truly makes him as compelling as he is, is his self awareness. there are plenty of repressed characters around, they're a dime a dozen. but Declan in particular makes me go feral because he is excruciatingly aware of the act. of the part he plays, why he plays it, and why he can't stop. we see him in the process of repressing himself, over and over, choosing to do it again, consciously and deliberately making that sacrifice anew every minute of every day all while knowing what he truly wants and that he's not in a position to be allowed to have it. there's something particularly and painfully poignant about that.

would you guys still love me if i wrote an analysis on how hop becoming sonia's assistant was actually the best possible outcome for him despite everyone insisting that his dreams were destroyed and that he just became a professor because he had nothing else to do and oh so saaaaaaaaad

and like i talk about how hop becoming a professor was foreshadowed from the very beginning. and how despite everyone saying he is like sonia because he lost in the gym challenge and had to settle for becoming a professor instead when on the contrary its actually the opposite. and how people don't realize how hop's "dream" wasn't really his calling but a result of the pressure to become like his brother. how instead of trying to surpass leon or even reach his level he has the chance to make a name for himself in his own field. how for a region like galar so focused on battling as a major sport its very interesting and kind of poetic how the main rival diverges from that and becomes a scientist instead.
