Anime I Watched This Fall
My first semester of college is officially over and the December holidays are upon us! I hoped to make one of these posts sooner, but I have been incredibly busy with schoolwork. Now that things have slowed down, letâs take sometime to reflect on things Iâve watched.Â
These anime are listed in chronological order and encompass everything Iâve watched from 9/1/2020 - 12/15/2020
Like always, they will be rated on a 1-10 scale; 1 meaning complete garbage, 10 meaning masterpiece. I will offer my thoughts on what I did/didnât like about each show!
1. The God of High School - 6/10Â
Despite the stellar animation from MAPPA and my high expectations, I was really disappointed by how this series was treated. Most of the storyâs crucial elements were handled poorly. I finished this series feeling more confused about the plot than when I first began. The power system is really cool, but poorly explained. More time should have been spent on exposition and world building for this series, instead the fights were given the most screen time.Â
2.  Doukyuusei - 7/10Â
I really liked the style of Doukyuusei. Granted, this was another movie I chose to watch primarily because of the hype surrounding it. The dynamic between Kusakabe and Sajou is an interesting one, and I also enjoy how the movies different acts were separated by the seasons. However, there's nothing that really sets Doukyuusei apart from other romance movies, its a little generic. Still, I enjoyed it nonetheless.Â
3.  Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season - 8/10Â
My opinions on Re:Zeroâs second season are biased. This was, by far, the sequel I was most hyped for during the summer/fall anime season. I was so happy to see the storyâs continuation and Iâm looking forward to the seasonâs second part coming sometime in January. Re:Zero is one of my all time favorite series because of the way it handles it characters and power dynamics. I also really enjoy the showâs psychological aspects. If you havenât already, give Re:Zero a try!Â
4. SaintâOniisan (Movie + OVA) - 8/10
This was a wonderful comedy. I wasnât sure how the subject of Jesus and Buddha living together would be tackled, but it was handled wonderfully. I was laughing for pretty much the entire movie. I love the art style and little references to both Buddhism and Christianity, plus the incorporation of Japanese culture. Saint Oniisan is a bright comedy, with two eccentric main characters. If you like a show that doesnât take itself too seriously, and need a good laugh, I canât recommend this more.
5. Clannad: After Story - 10/10Â
Never, while watching anime, did I cry as much as I did while watching Clannad: After Story. I didnât realize how much I related to Okazaki until I saw him grow up in After Story. I was left sobbing, especially after episode 18. I still, to this day, cannot listen to the Dango song without tearing up. The original Clannad is nothing special, but the continuation of its story its something heartfelt, emotional, and down-to-earth. I love Kyoto Animation with all my heart, and Clannad made me appreciate everything the studio has done just a little bit more. Thank you Clannad, for reminding me about the kind of person I strive to be.Â
6. Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu - 5.5/10
The art in A Whisker Away was beautiful. The story itself, however, is nothing too enjoyable. I found it difficult to like our protagonist or her love interest. Nothing about this movie is inherently memorable. The emotional climax came far too early which made the second half of the film seem long and drawn out. All in all, the movie has a wonderful concept, I just believe it could have been so much more emotional than it was. When I watch a move, I like to empathize with the characters. Itâs difficult to do when the characters arenât given the proper exposition to be empathized with.Â
7.  Shikioriori - 6/10
This is less of a movie and more of a collection of short stories. Flavors of Youth is something you shouldnât watch on an empty stomach, all of the food looks incredible. The same cannot beside for the rest of this feature. The stories themselves seems heavily clichĂŠd. Much like A Whisker Away, the initial premise is intriguing, but the execution results in something that comes across as trying too hard and carries no emotional weight with the viewer. If you plan on watching, pay more attention to the artwork and animation than the actual plot. You wonât be missing anything.Â
8. Vinland Saga - 7/10
Vinland Saga helped me get out of the rut that Clannad: After Story. Not only does this show have a great story, its action packed with lots of interesting fights. I especially enjoyed all the Nordic history embedded within the show. Its really unlike any of the other historical anime Iâve watched. I will say, itâs gory. But, compared to all the other things I watched this time around, I finished this series the quickest. Its good, its graphic, its fast paced!Â
9.  Mononoke Hime - 7/10
Itâs ironic considering how much anime Iâve watched that I have yet to watch all of the most classic Studio Ghibli films. Princess Mononoke is grittier than most other Ghibli films Iâve seen, but itâs message is positive and its characters are wonderful. I canât really speak ill towards classics like these. I guess maybe my one complaint is that this movie couldâve been a faster pace. Other than that... I really enjoyed everything Princess Mononoke offered! I understand why itâs so popular. Â
10. Howl no Ugoku Shiro - 8.5/10Â
Can you believe it took me this long to finally watch Howlâs Moving Castle? Me neither!! This movie is so endearingly beautiful. I loved every second of it, from the characters to the soundtrack. So many iconic things come from just this one movie. I would like to take this time to thank my best friend for reminding me that Studio Ghibli films are wonderful! Thank you for watching this with me, I loved it! All in all, I regret not watching this sooner!Â
11. Toradora! - 6.5/10Â
Toradora took me a while to finish, just because I lost interest about halfway through. But, I powered through it, and ended up really enjoying the show! Iâm not the biggest fan of the ending, but thatâs just a personal preference. Somehow, this show also made me cry? Iâm not entirely sure why because Toradora! is probably the thing farthest from sad. Apart from the showâs dull slice of life moments, it was super cute! A much needed light-hearted romance.Â
12. New Initial D Movie: Legend 1 - 5/10Â
Full disclosure, this is the only thing related to Initial D that Iâve ever watched. My band and I watched this expecting to hear some of that iconic Initial D music, itself all we got was a mildly confusing story about different types of cars. It was clichĂŠ and frankly a little boring. Although, I am still considering watching the original Initial D just so I can hear the music in the way it was original intended. Iâve got no other opinions on this movie. Itâs best not to watch these movies without the context from the rest of the franchise. Â
13.  Uchuu Patrol Luluco - 7.5/10
I didnât really understand why people enjoy studio Trigger so much until I watched Space Patrol Luluco. I loved all the fun references to other studio Trigger works. I loved the humor, and I loved all the bright colors. The animation was extremely high energy, and the art style fits the showâs premise. Each episode was only 12 minutes long so it was a super quick binge. If youâre looking for something quick, light-hearted and comical, this is the perfect show to watch.
14. Orange - 7/10Â
I owe a big thanks to a tumblr mutual for recommending this show to me! This holds the honor of making me cry by episode 3! I honestly did not expect the subject matter of this show to be as dark as it was. Usually when I see the genre âshoujoâ I do not associate it with a love story like that of Orange. The heavy subject matter made it a little too close to home for me, but I still really enjoyed this series. It reminds me off all the good times I had with my friends in high school, and of all the regrets I carry with myself to this day.Â
15. 3-gatsu no Lion - 7.5/10Â
March Comes in Like a Lion is another show that was a bit of a slow burn for me. Each episode left me feeling emotionally drained, so I had to take a lot of breaks while I was working on watching this series. Shaft, the studio behind this anime, holds a special place in my heart because I loved their work on the Monogatari Series. March Comes in Like a Lion is a little different. Itâs driving force it is characters, and it was cathartic to watch our main character transform through the entire duration of the first season. I know the showâs second season is much better, so Iâll be starting that soon!Â
16. Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei - 8/10Â
I loved how artsy and smart The Tatami Galaxy is, but honestly I couldnât watch too much at once cause it would hurt my head. I also couldnât watch this show while I was tired because the speaking rate is much faster than typical anime. The Tatami Galaxy is so unique for its medium. I loved the different time loops and the crazy animation. The characters were fascinating. The dialogue, although very fast, it also fantastic. Thereâs an element of humor to this unique story telling, and I enjoyed ever minute of it!Â
Currently Watching:
Hunter x Hunter - 6.5/10 (As of Episode 30)
I pride myself in having watched a lot of shounen anime, but I was reluctant to start Hunter x Hunter for years because I thought I would find it boring. I was oh so very wrong. Considering great shows like Naruto and Fairy Tail that fall under the same category, I expected Hunter x Hunter to be subpar in comparison. It gets a low score for two reasons. One, the power system was introduced a little too late and now Iâm wondering if all the fights post episode 30 will involved nen in some way, shape, or form. Two, its still on hiatus.Â
Two Cursed Additions For This List
Please to do not let these be representative of my anime taste.Â
1.  YarichinâB*tch-bu - 4/10
I am a CLOWN for not knowing this was 18+. The only reason I watched this was to see why everyone was talking about the pink-haired boy with the glasses and tongue piecing. I know why now, and I regret it. This was a massive mistake on my part. But hey, at the least the art and ending song kinda slap?Â
2. Euphoria (Dropped After 1 Episode) - 2/10
If you know what Iâm talking about when I say Euphoria, I am so sorry. And no, I am not talking about the HBO series. Seriously, donât google this. Donât watch this. Donât interact with anything related to this. Youâre probably wondering, âThen why did you watch it?â I did not watch this willingly. You see, I have a very bad habit of starting anime and then taking months to finish them. I made an ultimatum with a friend, lost, and then was forced to watch this a punishment. Not a fun experience. Iâm very glad there are no GIFs of this on tumblr...

Parallel World Heroes Throw Down in ISEKAI QUARTET: the Movie PV
A climactic new theatrical trailer has been published for ISEKAI QUARTET the Movie: Another World, an upcoming theatrical anime film that continues the mixed up, mashed up adventures of a boatload of KADOKAWA-published isekai light novel series such as The Rising of the Shield Hero, Overlord, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, and more.
The preview video (below) features the theme song from the film, entitled "Melodic Road Movie", which is performed by Konomi Suzuki featuring Kashitaro Ito.

Crunchyroll currently streams the first two seasons of the ISEKAI QUARTET TV anime, and describes the story of the series as follows:
The button appeared out of nowhere. There werenât any signs NOT to push itâŚso the solution is obvious, right? Is it a trap or the start of something new and exciting? The crews of Re:Zero, Overlord, Konosuba, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil will find out when they go from their world to another and get stuck inâŚclass?! See what adorable chaos theyâll get up to in this collection of shorts!
In ISEKAI QUARTET the Movie: Another World, the homeroom class gets sucked through a wormhole into - you guessed it! - another world where they encounter a desolate environment dominated by a rampaging magical automaton. There they meet a girl-type golem with mannerisms simllar to Megumin, a woman dressed in the same military uniform as Tanya, and a man with a cane who seems to know Subaru, and hijinks ensue.

HBO Max New Releases: January 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Itâs a new year and everyone wants to put the vile cesspool that was 2020 behind them. Thankfully, HBO Max is coming out swinging to make the transition out of the hellyear even easier. HBO Maxâs list of new releases for January 2021 is positively packed with notable film releases and even a fun HBO Max Original or two.
For starters, Search Party season 4 will arrive to HBO Max on Jan. 14. This season of the show with a now-surprising lifespan finds Dory Sief in the thrall of a deranged stalkerâŚright after getting off on murder charges. These Brooklynites lead such fascinating lives! The other major original or note is the HBO documentary Tiger, that premieres on Jan. 10 and will delve into the complicated history of golfing legend Tiger Woods.
The real story this month, however, are the movies. Perhaps emboldened by its success with Wonder Woman 1984, HBO Max is filling up its servers with as many Warner properties that it can find. The Dark Knight trilogy, Blade, Chinatown, The Exorcist, Mad Max: Fury Road, No Country for Old Men, and Pulp Fiction all arrive on Jan. 1. Poltergeist and Stephen Kingâs It (1990) make things spooky on Jan. 15. Then the month closes out with, quite simply, the greatest movie of all time: The Mummy (1999). The downside here is that some of these are limited engagements, with the aforementioned WW1984, Blade, Oceanâs Eleven, and more all leaving at monthâs end.
Still, January 2021 will provide plenty of filmic fun on HBO Max. Here is the full list for your perusal.

January 4th 2019
This is less a diary entry and more of trying to collect my thoughts. So Iâm watching anime again and Iâve been watching this anime called âRe:Zero Starting Life in Another Worldâ or Re:Zero for short. Anyways, this anime is so unique and interesting. The problem is, is it enjoyable to watch. See I have my top 10 animes of all time.Â
1.) Mob Psycho (seasons 1 and 2)
2.) Anohana
3.) One Punch Man (season 1)
4.) Demon Slayer (season 1)
5.) No Game No Life (and the movie)
6.) Shokugeki no soma (season 1 and 2)
7.) Kill a Kill
8.) How not to summon a demon lord (season 1 and 2)
9.) Parasyte
10.) Attack on Titan (season 1 and 2)
I heard Attack on Titan other seasons are really good, but I havenât gotten around to watch them yet. Anyways, I was thinking whether Re:Zero is up there. I already have two isekais (a genre that puts the main protagonist in a different world) in that list. No Game No Life is absolutely enjoyable because of the Sherlock like thinking and plus itâs all a game. How not to summon a demon lord is the other and itâs basically an ecchi (Lotâs of nude/ sexual stuff). Both are really funny and enjoyable. On the flip side, Anohana is probably the saddest, heart warming anime I have the pleasure of watching. The last few episodes ended me with tears. The last episode I was bawling. There is no other anime that will ever come close to that. One Punch Man season 1 was absolutely funny, hysterical, over the top and most of all just so good to watch. Mob Psycho was basically the mixture of both Anohanaâs tear jerking message and One punch manâs clowniness. Re:Zero is Anohana but in isekai form. It is like Pixar in the way that a message is always at the center of the episode. Here is a weak guy who canât do anything against a whole fucking world. ITâs so realistic and jarring (in a good way). Each episode Iâm thinking, âHow is Subaru going to fix thisâ? This is a main protagonist who is scared for his fucking life, who canât fight back, who is a fuck up. Who is trying to do his best knowing that he canât tell his secret or else he dies. The whole premise is so fucked up. The side characters are fucked up to an extent, but you understand why they are that way. Like this is a sad anime isekai, but the pay off when Subaru finds the way is so fucking satisfying. The anime is basically blue balling me (also REM best girl fuck Emilia). I just like man wtf. Is it better than Demon Slayer? Maybe? Is it better than No Game No Life. IDK. Okay I think Iâll put it on 5. Itâs not as good as Demon Slayer because that art design and fights are just so damn good. I think that is why itâs better than Re:Zero. But I think Re:Zero is the best isekai I have watched so far. Just the message and the story is just too good for Isekai sherlock (No Game No Life). Okay that feels so good. So I think I will update my all time favorite anime as:
1.) Mob Psycho
2.) Anohana
3.) One Punch Man
4.) Demon Slayer
5.) Re:Zero
6.) No Game No Life
7.) Attack on Titan
8.) Kill a Kill
9.) How not to summon a demon lord
10.) Parasyte
Iâm satisfied with that I think for now
Good Night, Sweet Dreams. Much Love from Sacramento

Thereâs Different Between Re:Zero Light Novel and Anime Adaptation
Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World, often called Re: Zero, is a TV Anime series that aired over 25 episodes with 2016. It was adapted with a light novel in the same name, which came second inside Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2017 ranking and has now a total move of over 3 thousand thousand copies. Re:Zero became the main light novel together with Anime series that won both Anime and light novel categories in the SUGOI JAPAN Prize 2017. The Anime lives as much the original are its superb top quality impressed even serious Anime fans.
With September 2017, the official internet site announced the production on the new episode like an OVA. Not many details are generally revealed when writing this page but Iâm sure many fans ought to be eagerly awaiting itâs release.
My personal favorite among the list of 25 episodes is usually Episode 7, âNatsuki Subaruâs Restartâ, which is dependent on a part in the second light innovative. While we are waiting around for follow-up news relating to the OVA, Iâm visiting compare the differences relating to the light novel along with the Anime regarding Episode 7.
The 4th Loop
Episode 7 covers in the scene of Subaru increasingly being attacked by Rem with his third loop to your scene of him or her throwing himself off of a cliff.
With waking to their fourth loop, he was with despair over not to be able to talk about that phenomenon of âReturns by Deathâ and having no person to trust. He was at a terrible condition with black communities under his eyes inside Anime, whereas the innovative describes his depressed state of mind in more depth.
Subaru asks Roswaal if he can stay at his mansion for a guest. Subaru then bounds himself to their room alone fearing the feeling of death which often he learned with his previous hook. He was quite possibly doubtful about Emiliaâs kindness. Subsequently, he refuses to sleep as a result of fear of an issue happening in their sleep, and attempts staying awake just by self-harming, even wounding the trunk of his hand together with his quill pen he useful to learn their words. At this issue, the pain was the only real proof of their existence.
His condition was described just by Beatrice: âHow did the user gets into this state in several days. Youâre so gross and then a hopeless pervert with a self-harming common practice. â There is not a depiction of their facial expression, but I imagine it was eventually much worse than it was eventually depicted in that Anime. I was fascinated by his courage to fully stand up again from a really state to save you people he cares about it about.
What He Hoped
Facing the reality that Rem lost her life rather then him, Subaru fled in the mansion and was aimlessly playing around a forest, thinking âI could probably escape this situation just die. â
Death means âto retry ever again in another loopâ with regard to him as he or she is cursed with âReturns by Deathâ. At this aspect, he seemed courageous enough to brew a change in their worst future, even though heâd never sampled it intentionally in advance of. In fact, he had ended up up for intending his third loop so as to collect information.
Nevertheless, the death with his fourth loop was totally different from the previous people. In the innovative, there is an interior monologue at their death, âdo everything else you want. I donât care anymoreâŚâ thatâs omitted in that Anime. The line demonstrates that they was giving himself as much despair. At this aspect, death doesnât necessarily mean his privilege to go back and retry their life again, nevertheless real death, which will free him with his agony with depression.
Subaru couldnât commit suicide only to escape his current situation. People fear death since the device means the terminate of everything, but anyone else donât know what death turns out to be, as it arrives built in only once. Compared, Subaru has skilled death, and so his concern with death is real and for that reason greater, despite the reality that he has a way to return to lifetime again. Every creature is usually destined to embrace worries of death both equally. I believe nobody must choose passing by oneself, nevertheless difficult oneâs condition is.
Anime together with Light Novel
Both novels together with Anime have advantages over the other. Novels are time-consuming together with require reading understanding, but they may well tell rich storylines in accordance with the authorâs precise wishes by describing situations along with the inner states in the characters with key phrases. Anime, on additional hand, can deliver that story within a great amount of time to just about every viewer utilizing cartoon and sound. Nevertheless, it is difficult to describe detailed situations together with mental states in Anime as compared to novels. I suppose this will depend on the person with regard to which they would like.
Take the finalized scene of Episode 7 to give an example, where Subaru advances off a high cliff and loses their life. The novel functions three sentences to explain his death:
âJust when he declared their determination, he crushed in the hard ground work surface headlong. A excessive crashing noise echoed, and he couldnât see anything anymore. The womanâs distressed voice doesnât accomplish. Just the peace and quiet ââ
Readers can see right now his dreadful death as a result of a headlong fit in a rocky stretch crushing just of him inside an unrecognizable condition. âDistressed voiceâ shows that he was worried with Ramâs yell until his previous breath.
In Anime, he falls even though shouting âIâm visiting save you! â along with the screen is blacked out which includes a horrible crashing tone, which tells that audience without words the state of hawaii of his overall body.
In the real life, it takes only one brief second, literally the blink of eye, to drop from somewhere excessive. Anime can show when of his fall in such a short period of time. However, itâs impossible just using a split minute to describe the reality that he fell headlong, and therefore he was serious about Ram until abdominal muscles last second with his life. The final scene of Episode 7 demonstrates that will novels can offer the authorâs purpose more clearly using words.
Light novels are that will provide easy studying; even so, itâs still difficult to learn a full account completely even for any average Japanese people. However, light novels have their own personal appeals that could be comparable to Anime. I might suggest that you see the original novel with Re: Zero so as to enjoy the account thoroughly.
