So anyway have y’all ever heard of Razia’s Shadow?

Ranting about character design under the cut

I’m currently working through a character design exercise with this album. Sort of a “if a studio asked me to create characters for an animation to this, what would I come up with?”

Adakias is giving me a little trouble, probably because he was my favorite as a kid and now I have high expectations for myself, but Pallis was piss easy. Thankfully, through designing him, some decisions I was having trouble with on Adakias’ design have been solved (a little bit).

I’ve decided to give the brothers more triangular noses and sorta closed-ish eyes? I used to always design Adakias as a bright-eyed kid, maybe 19 or 20, but now as a twenty-something myself, I could see him with a more tired look. Bros been through a lot, what can I say. Now, I like to imagine him as more of a mid-to-late twenties guy on his last fucking straw finally taking action after years of being told he couldn’t. Though, I was still struggling to not make him this starry eyed kid. Thankfully, his brother helped me make the decisions on his face structure.

Anyway, back to Pallis. I drew a design for him in “The Exit,” with the tied up hair and crown, and “The End and the Beginning” with the loose hair, more greys, slightly tanner skin (he’s been in the dark all his life, it makes sense that a little time in the sun would do quick work) and dark circles around his eyes. Trying to channel that 2008 emo eyeliner into a more modern character design.

The background was inspired by someone I found on Artfight, ~junebug203. They make the coolest collages in their backgrounds, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. Also, it has my middle school Razia’s Shadow fan art hidden in there. Gotta love that kid art.

Anyway, expect more Razia’s Shadow fan art from me, haha.

my nidria design! well,,,, sorta.. i have some bits here i wanna change and workshop on. im not good at complex designs but i want her to be elegant

so trying to find a middle ground there has been a bittttt difficult. also im taking away her ear wings GAH

i've always imagined nidria to be quite tall! i really like the idea that she's *atleast* taller than ahrima, if anything. she's about 5'7 in my version while ahrima is 5'4
