Tech had been observing Hunter all morning. He almost seemed at war with himself- going through the motions as though it were a normal day, but every so often a burst of irritability would break through.
“You have a migraine,” Tech noted when the others had finally cleared out of the galley.
“Oh, do I?” Hunter snarked. “Thanks for letting me know.”
Tech scowled. “You should take something. Perhaps you should lie down as well.”
“It’s not going to work, Tech, you know that.”
“Well, I highly doubt that it would hurt. It may at least help a small amount, which would be better than-”
“I get it, Tech,” Hunter growled.
Tech watched his older brother press the heels of his palms to his eyes, feeling somewhat powerless.
“Perhaps we should check is there is any of the mix Jaine made left-”
“No,” he barked, slamming a hand on the table and instantly wincing at the loud noise. He took a deep, shaky breath. “I’m sorry.”
Tech didn’t reply. Hunter knew his younger brother would forgive this; Tech knew how the migraines affected him.
“How can you just… say her name like that? How can you think of her without any-”
“It’s not without emotion,” Tech corrected. “I feel the… hole left in the fabric of our squad. I have found the adjustment rather difficult. I have noted that I- I miss her, quite… dearly.”
“Tech?”
“She was a member of this squad before she betrayed us. At the end, I found that I was quite angry with myself that I spent so long wishing her out of our lives. Now that she’s gone-”
“She’s not gone,” Echo whispered, having appeared with Crosshair at the doorway. “We’re going to get her back.”
Crosshair scoffed, folding his arms across his chest. “Get her back? Echo, do you have a screw loose? She doesn’t want to come back. What she wants is to see us all dead or imprisoned.”
Tech watched his twin carefully; Crosshair didn’t speak much about Jaine anymore. In fact, to Tech’s recollection, Crosshair had only referenced her once in passing when Omega had asked about some of the left over supplies in the medbay.
“Something isn’t right, I know it,” Echo argued. “She wasn’t acting like herself.”
“Maybe that was the first time she was! Maybe, just maybe she’d been lying to us all from the beginning. She wormed her way into this squad, but she never liked us, never cared for us, never loved-” Crosshair’s voice broke and his gaze dropped to the floor. “We’re better off without her.”
They watched as Crosshair quickly left, his words weighing heavily over them. Echo sighed deeply, turning to leave the ship for a while.
The sunlight warmed his skin as he stopped to take in a deep breath. He’d been debating with himself if he should reach out to Crosshair. He’d lost a loved one once too. It wasn’t the same, and he knew that, but his heart still ached for his brother.
And, if he were being truthful, himself. It hadn’t taken him long to realize the pull Jaine inflicted on him. Her smile, her laugh, her touch; she was magnetic and after all, he was rebuilt with metal.
He knew very well the boundaries: you don’t touch a brother’s cyare, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have eyes. Above all else, she had been kind to him. She remembered him and his twin from years prior, she told him that she’d mourned his loss and then Fives’ as well. She was sympathetic to his story, but she didn’t pity him, she didn’t treat him like he was breakable.
She reminds you of me, a familiar voice always whispered in his head. He tried to shake that voice, but it always came back.
“Echo!” Omega called, just coming into view with Wrecker.
“Hey, kid. What mischief have the two of you gotten into today?” he smirked, willing the memories back into their box.
“Mischief? Us?” Wrecker laughed, earning a suspicious glance from Echo as he knelt to let Omega jump down from his shoulder.
“We just went into the city and there’s a festival tonight,” she grinned.
“Oh, really? What for?”
“I’m not actually sure, but Movri said there’s going to be music and lights and food!”
“Wait, who’s Movri?”
Omega’s eyes went wide for a very brief moment. “Movri is Wrecker’s… friend!”
Echo eyed the large man, who was quickly turning a deep red. “Wrecker’s ‘friend’?”
Wrecker laughed awkwardly, before glancing towards the Marauder. “I think Hunter’s calling me, I better go see what he wants.”
Echo chuckled as he watched Wrecker dart into the ship. “Tell me more about this ‘friend’ then,” he grinned.
Omega smiled, leaning closer and whispering conspiratorially. “He’s so nice! He runs the Sugar Planet stand in the market. He’s really good at making Wrecker laugh and I think Wrecker really, really likes him!”
“Really?” Echo smiled, ideas for reading his brother already starting to flow through his mind.
Omega nodded. “I think he likes him more than a friend.”
The two shared a very serious look before bursting into a fit of giggles.
—
“You’re late,” Cid noted, placing her data pad down on the desk. “Again.”
The hooded person scoffed. “Your intel was incomplete again.”
“Did you get the data or not?”
Irritation roiled off the figure. “Yes,” she said, gruffly. “It’s encrypted.”
“Doesn’t matter, I’ve got a guy for that.”
“And my cut?”
Cid glared up at her. “It’ll have to be split.”
The cloaked figure all but growled.
“Oh, stow it. You know if you can’t finish a job alone you don’t get the full pay.”
Cid leaned forward, picking up a small comm device. “Goggles, get in here.”
Moments later, the door slid open, revealing Tech, still engaged with whatever was on his data pad.
“You commed,” he said, not bothering to look up.
“Blue, this is Goggles. Goggles, Blue.”
Tech finally looked up at the hooded figure, meeting her eyes. Despite the shadow her hood cast and the armored mask that covered the lower half of her face, Tech could make out some details. Dark blue skin - no, it was some kind of paint, and her eyes; one light brown, one cybernetic, both scanning Tech with a scowl.
There was something about the man that struck a part of Raze’s memory. She was sure she didn’t know him, but there was something in the structure of his face and the way he carried himself that was eerily familiar.
“Raze,” she grumbled through the voice modulator in her mask.
“Tech,” he said cordially.
“Goggles will take the data stick and decrypt it. He’ll get half your cut, too.”
Raze’s head snapped towards the trandoshan as if to protest, but Cid interrupted.
“I can make it more,” she sneered.
Tech heard Raze’s jaw click shut.
“That’s what I thought. Now both of you, get out.”
As they left, Raze glanced around the room. More people had arrived, all wearing similar armor to Tech, except for a young girl, who was playing - and winning - a game of dejarek against a large man.
“Is there a problem?” Tech asked, paused a few steps ahead, turned back to face her.
“No,” she answered gruffly.
Tech led them to a booth near the back of the parlor, occupied by another man in armor who bore a striking resemblance to Tech.
“Who’s your new friend?” the other man drawled, toothpick stuck between his lips. He was watching them, his eyes scrutinizing every detail.
“This is Raze,” Tech reported, sliding into the booth. “Another associate of Cid.”
“How nice.”
“This is Crosshair,” Tech informed her.
“Charmed, I’m sure,” Raze answered flatly.
Tech held out a hand. “The data stick.”
Raze reluctantly reached into a pocket on her thigh, pulling the data stick out and placing it in his hand. She crossed her arms over her chest. “How long is this going to take?”
“The encryption is not very heavy, it should only take a few moments,” Tech replied.
Raze heard a bit of a commotion behind her. Turning, she saw that the child had won the match of dejarek, much to the dismay of her large opponent. One of the men watching laughed, the other was watching her curiously. He was paler than the others with small pieces of metal poking out of his head. That odd sense of familiarity struck her again, stronger than it had with Tech.
They locked eyes for a moment, almost daring one another to look away. The stalemate was quickly broken when the girl ran up to him, chattering happily about something she couldn’t hear.
“I have finished decrypting the data,” Tech informed her, holding the data stick out toward her.
“Are you clones?” She asked bluntly before she could think better of it.
“Problem?” Crosshair scowled.
Raze eyed him suspiciously. “Not at the moment.”
“Will you be turning in the data stick or shall I?” Tech cut into their silent glaring.
“I’ve got it,” she huffed, snatching the data stick from him.
She stalked across the room, catching the eyes of the other clones as she did, only losing their attention when the door to Cid’s office closed behind her.
“Clones, Cid?”
“What about ‘em?”
“Didn’t expect you to be working with the Empire.”
Cid scoffed. “They look like they’re with the Empire to you, Blue?”
Raze eyed her, trying to get a better read on their relationship to her. “Can’t be too careful with that kind.”
“Like my safety matters to you,” Cid rolled her eyes. “Did Goggles finish with the data or are you just here to piss me off?”
Raze scowled, passing the data stick to her.
Cid nodded, throwing a few credits towards them on the desk.
“That’s not even a third of what you told me.”
Cid grinned sickeningly sweetly. “Maybe if you were on time and didn’t need help you would’ve gotten the full amount, but the price went down while you fucked around.”
Raze snatched the few credits off the desk, turning to leave, but the door wouldn’t open.
“What do you say?” Cid prompted behind her.
Raze huffed. “Thanks.”
As the door opened, she saw that the girl and the other clones had joined Tech and Crosshair, all squeezing into one booth to talk quietly. The kid saw her first, smiling and giving a little wave, the rest noticing and looking up to watch her.
Raze glared at her, before walking quickly out the door.
At the table, something like recognition thrummed in the back of Echo's brain, calling to him as his brothers talked around him. He pushed it away, a small chill traveling down his back.
“Echo?” Wrecker prodded at his shoulder.
Echo shook his head. “Sorry, what?”
“I just asked if you knew anything about Raze,” Hunter said, watching his brother closely.
“No,” Echo answered, a little too quickly. “I don’t think so.”
Hunter’s eyes narrowed, but he seemed to accept the response. He could feel the others' eyes on him, sure they accompanied variously confused expressions, so he just cleared his throat, looking down at the table.
“As for our next order of business,” Tech interjected. “Omega mentioned that there was a festival this evening.”
Omega perked up. “Yeah, Movri told us all about it!”
“Movri?” Hunter mumbled.
“Wrecker’s friend,” she whispered to him, a wicked grin on her face.
“Yeah, there’s supposed to be lots of lights, and good food,” Wrecker chimed in, his face becoming hotter by the second.
Hunter’s eyes narrowed at his brother, who was painstakingly avoiding his gaze.
“Can we go, Hunter? Please,” Omega pleaded, pulling on his arm just a little.
“Don’t see why not,” he shrugged.
—
“Festival in the city tonight,” Raze’s roommate called as she entered their tiny apartment.
“Heard about that.”
“You wanna go?” he asked, appearing around the corner from the refresher. He had a towel around his waist and he was still damp from a recent shower. “Could be fun.”
“What I want is to get out of this get up,” she groaned, rolling her eyes as she finally removed her hood and mask.
She set the mask down on the tiny kitchen table, depositing her gloves with it.
“I can help with that,” he smirked, sidling up behind her.
She sighed a little as his arms wrapped around her waist, his touch sparking electricity under her skin.
“Stars, you’re needy,” she scoffed.
“You were gone,” he mumbled into her neck.
“It wasn’t that long.”
“Three weeks.”
She rolled her eyes again, pulling away from him. “Yeah, three weeks only using a sonic; I must be disgusting.”
“We can take a shower,” he suggested, grabbing her hips in that way that always made her head spin.
“Didn’t you just have one?”
He shrugged, his signature crooked smirk falling into place. “I could take another.”
He dipped his head down, pressing a soft kiss against her lips.
“Forn,” she whispered as he pulled away, her eyes still closed.
“There’s no one else here, uja, you can use my real name.”
He pressed his lips to the space just below her ear, the one he knew would always drive her crazy. She moaned, her head falling back. “Stars, Fives.”

1 step forward, 2 steps back
synopsis: cypher’s been avoiding you and you girl talk it out with kj and raze
since you join the protocol, you’ve been hanging out with cypher. he was a very helpful and welcoming person to you. it seemed like he liked talking to you a lot since he was very charismatic. though, thats probably just how he is. overtime, you slowly developed a liking for him. cypher always helped you out whenever you needed it, he even went out of his way to do stuff for you. however, it always felt like there was a barrier between you and him. he practically knew everything about you. he is a spy and knows everything about everyone. but, you knew barely anything about him. you knew the things that casual friends would know, and that was about it. you tried to pry and get him to open up, but it felt like everytime you tried, he started to push you away. overtime, the things he used to do for you became rare occurrences.
8:00 am, location: valorant hq
it was early in the morning, barely anyone was awake at this time of day. you found kj, raze, jett, phoenix, and cypher in the kitchen. kj and raze were sitting on the stools at the counter and phoenix and cypher were playing a game of chess together. it appeared that phoenix was losing big time. kj spotted you coming from the hallway.
“morning, didn’t expect you to be up this early!” she laughed. they all wave to you except cypher, he looked away from you. everyone could feel a awkward tension between you two, however no one was brave enough to address the elephant in the room. you didn’t bother to attempt greeting him. “morning” you rubbed your right eye. in the background, cypher had just won another match of chess. phoenix rolled his eyes in annoyance and defeat. cypher was lightly laughing. you glanced at him in the corner of your eye. even though you were upset with him, you can’t help it when you see him happy and laughing. it was bittersweet for you.
“ah, i have to work on my cameras, we can rematch next time phoenix.” he tilted his hat to phoenix. “i’ll beat you next time, just you wait!” he said confidently. he excused himself out and walked to his room. phoenix left the other direction, seemingly confident that he will defeat cypher next time. now that cypher was gone, it felt safe to talk about the elephant in the room.
“hey… are you and cypher doing okay?” kj asked you. you looked up at her and sighed. “honestly, i don’t know.” you say in defeat. you put your elbow on the counter and lean your head against your hand. “did something happen?” raze asked. “well, it’s kind of complicated. he just stopped talking to me overtime. when i tried to go and talk to him one on one, he just excuses himself quickly. i don’t know if i did something wrong to make him hate me.” you tell them. they both look upset for you. they can tell that you are visibly upset by cypher’s avoidance. “i’m sure you didn’t do anything wrong! cypher’s just a very secretive type of guy.” kj reassured. “if anything, i’m sure he’s afraid to let you get closer to him.” kj said. raze nodded in agreement. “yeah, nobody knows anything about that dude. he’s super secretive. but, just because he doesn’t tell you everything, doesn’t mean that he doesnt like you! cyphers just a private kinda guy.” raze adds. “he wouldn’t hate you for no reason, i’m sure of it.” kj said.
after what kj and raze told you, you felt a bit better about the whole thing. you reconsider the reasons why cypher suddenly started to avoid you. however, you were still pretty upset with him for avoiding you. you got up from your seat and fixed yourself. “i’m gonna head back to my room, i’ll see you guys later.” you wave at them goodbye. they wave you goodbye in pity and you walked towards the hall. you made your way back to your room and plopped on your bed. you were in defeat and didn’t want to think about cypher any more. you let yourself fall asleep once more.
sorry for a cliff hanger ill make part 2 soon 😁 (i lied BUT IM WORKING ON IT I PROMISE)

Vaggie, There’s an Exorcist at the Door!
Word Count: 1,820
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Hazbin Hotel (Cartoon)
Rating: Teen and Up Audiences
Archive Warnings: None
Additional Warnings: Canon-Typical Violence, (mentioned), Past Character Death
Series: Part 1 of Raze Hell
Summary:
“I don’t think they’re with Heaven anymore.”
Vaggie’s heart leapt into her throat and stuck there. Another Fallen Exorcist? That couldn’t be right, could it?
“Why do you say that?” Vaggie asked, trying not to sound like her entire world view was being flipped on its head again.
The Exorcists were an indivisible force. They acted as one, obeying Adam’s commands unquestioningly and without hesitation. Vaggie had never seen any of her comrades put so much as a toe out of line. She was the first, the last, the only. The black sheep, the prodigal daughter. And she was punished accordingly.
Angel shrugged. “Vibes, mostly.”
*
Vaggie thought she was the only Fallen Exorcist in existence—until a second one showed up on her doorstep.
Featuring: My edgy Fallen Exorcist OC, Vaggie’s trauma coming back to bite her, Angel Dust being Schrödinger’s Jerk (in which he both is and isn’t an asshole), and Charlie’s mediocre conflict de-escalation skills.
Better on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/61469728
Available to registered users only.
“Vaggie?” Angel Dust popped his head into Vaggie’s—limited—peripheral vision.
“What?”
“There’s an Exorcist at the door.”
Vaggie shot up in her seat, gripping the arm of the couch so hard the fabric tore. “What?”
“An Exorcist. At the door,” he repeated, flatly. “Wings, weapons, the whole shebang.”
“Well, don’t let her in!” How the fuck was Angel being so calm about this?
“Pretty sure they ain’t a ‘her’ anymore.”
“What? All of us were…” Vaggie abandoned that train of thought after realizing how fucking ridiculous it was to focus on the hypothetical gender nonconformity of the Exorcist at their door. “Wait, that’s the detail that caught your attention?”
Angel rolled his eyes. “It’s one Exorcist, toots. I killed dozens of ‘em when Adam attacked the hotel. I’ve got angelic steel bullets, and they brought knives to a gunfight.”
That… was fair. Carmilla had helped the hotel—and friends—restock on bullets and explosives in exchange for a percentage of the weapons left behind by the Exorcists when they made their retreat. And using melee weapons exclusively despite angelic guns and bombs existing was ridiculously common for Exorcists.
Really, it was kind of a miracle that it took so long for the Sinners to realize they could fight back.
“How do you know they’re really alone? It could be a ruse to lower our defenses, sending one soldier to our doorstep while others hide nearby.”
“Could be, but… I don’t think they’re with Heaven anymore.”
Vaggie blinked. She could feel a migraine coming on, pain radiating behind her remaining eye.
“Vibes?” she repeated.
“Yeah. They’re outta uniform. And they look pretty Hellish for an angel. Sharp teeth, black claws, stuff like that.”
Vaggie’s teeth had grown sharper since her Fall, slowly shifting into something more demonic as she spent more time cut off from Heaven and her Grace. Lucifer looked like he’d gotten the same treatment a million times over.
How long had this mysterious Exorcist been living here to have teeth and claws that matched the Hell they’d Fallen to? And how had Vaggie never heard so much as a whisper about them until they showed up on the hotel doorstep?
“I need to see this for myself.”
Sure enough, there was an Exorcist at the door. Their white wings were stained red at the edges—whether by blood or by Hell’s influence, Vaggie didn’t know—and they carried two sheathed daggers on their belt.
They were all sharp angles and scars, with a boxy frame and wiry muscles. Their hair was longer than Adam would’ve allowed, unkempt and hanging past their shoulders, shaved on the right side. They wore a black halterneck top and had a chest flatter than Vaggie’s. They carried themselves like a man—more so than most of the men living in the hotel.
Yeah, Vaggie could see why Angel suspected they might not be a 'her' anymore.
The Exorcist didn’t move to draw their weapons, but Vaggie kept her spear in hand just in case. “State your business.”
“I saw some footage from the latest Extermination and noticed an angel fighting for the other team." Their voice had an almost inhuman quality about it—a rough tenor that called to mind the growling of a dog or the scrape of brick and mortar.
They smiled, and the canine comparison was reinforced by their prominent eye teeth. "Thought I’d stop by and say hello to my sister.”
Vaggie hated it when people called the Exorcists ‘sisters.’ They weren’t. Not by blood or by bond. Sisters in arms, sure, or a sisterhood in the way a college sorority is—complete with all the hazing and the expectation of cult-like loyalty—but those bonds were built on blades and severed by them, too.
And Vaggie wasn’t a part of their sisterhood anymore.
“What’s your name, sister?”
“Don’t call me that,” Vaggie snapped, unable to stop herself.
The Fallen Exorcist hummed unapologetically.
Vaggie swore under her breath. “Vaggie,” she said. “My name is Vaggie.”
“Hello, Vaggie.”
Vaggie liked the Exorcist less and less by the second—and in the minute or so since she’d met them, it was already ticking into the negative numbers.
But having another Fallen angel in Hell was a game changer. She couldn’t just send them away without doing some reconnaissance.
“And what about you?” she asked, trying her damnedest not to sound outright aggressive. “What’s your name?”
The strange Fallen smiled, mouth full of razor sharp teeth. “Raze,” they said.
“Raze,” Vaggie repeated. She paused for a beat. “And Adam named you that?”
Raze laughed, a single, sharp note. “My angelic name died alongside the comrade I killed when I Fell.”
Another dent in Vaggie's perception of the Heaven and Hell, another revelation that sent her reeling. “You Fell because you killed another Exorcist?”
Raze shrugged. “She pissed me off. ‘S more fun down here, anyway. Heaven was…” They popped their neck and rolled their wings and shoulders. “Restricting.”
“Plus, Adam is…” Raze laughed, then gleefully corrected themselves, “Was an asshole.”
Well, Vaggie could agree with that, at least.
Raze tilted their head. “And why did you Fall, Vaggie? I’m a bit out of the loop on angelic gossip.”
Vaggie’s jaw clamped shut. She’d had a bad feeling about Raze from the moment they walked in, and that feeling had only intensified the more she talked to them. She didn’t exactly feel like spilling her guts, here.
Hell and all its denizens would know soon enough, anyway. Charlie had gotten another interview with 666 News, and this time Vaggie would make an appearance. Vaggie had already written up talking points for them both, and was prepared to give a short explanation of her Fall to get ahead of the inevitable shitstorm that would be unleashed once news got out that she was an ex-Exorcist.
“Well?” Raze prompted, dragging Vaggie from her thoughts.
“Mercy,” she gritted out.
Raze threw their head back and laughed. A terrible, uproarious cackle that made Vaggie’s wings twitch in their sheaths and the hair on the back of her neck stand on end.
“Oh that’s fucking hilarious!” All at once, Raze stopped laughing. They went completely, uncannily silent, and looked Vaggie dead in the eye.
“Your crime was mercy, mine was ruthlessness.” Their smile was more of a cruel curl of lips. “And here we are, facing the same punishment.”
Vaggie instinctively reached up to touch the patch over her empty eye socket. The gesture did not go unnoticed by Raze.
“Well, maybe not exactly the same.” Raze winked—that pendejo actually fucking winked!—and sized Vaggie up as she violently seethed. “But we both Fell, we’re both stuck here, and we’re both enjoying Damnation more than the folks Upstairs would like us to.”
Vaggie couldn't take it anymore. “Get the fuck out of my hotel.”
Raze widened their stance and reached for their daggers, hands poised over the hilts without drawing, although their fingers flexed like they were itching for a fight.
“Make me,” they growled.
Vaggie readied her own weapon. Fuck, where was Angel Dust? Raze had an angelic body count; Vaggie could use the backup, but she didn’t dare take her eye off Raze to look for him.
“Heyyy.” Charlie, not Angel Dust. Powerful, but almost definitely unarmed Charlie.
Luckily, something about her presence seemed to disarm Raze, anyway. They didn’t look calm, exactly, or afraid—but they traded their fighting stance for a more relaxed posture.
Charlie put a hand on Vaggie’s shoulder, and Vaggie risked a glance.
“Am I interrupting something?” Charlie asked. Her tone was purposefully non-threatening, but the meaning behind it was clear: I won’t escalate this without your permission; do you need my help?
“No,” Vaggie said, at the same time Raze said, “Yes.”
“But this is more interesting,” Raze added, their gaze raking over Charlie like a predator.
Vaggie tensed up again. “I think you should go now,” she said, voice and spear held steady.
Raze opened their mouth, but Charlie interrupted them. “Well, you heard her! Time to go!”
Raze snarled, lips pulled back to expose their gums. Then their expression went blank. “Fine.”
They waved goodbye and turned on their heel. “See ya ‘round, sister!” they called over their shoulder. Vaggie didn’t rise to the bait.
Charlie slammed the door shut and Vaggie slumped against her, allowing herself to go limp in her girlfriend's arms as she wrapped them around her tightly.
“Shit, shit, shit,” Charlie cursed. “Vaggie, are you ok? Angel said you might need help. Was that an Exorcist? A Fallen Exorcist? Do you know them? What did they want?”
Vaggie kissed her quiet. “I’m ok now,” she answered, “Yes, yes, no, and…” She sighed. “I don’t know. Trouble, probably.”
Charlie pressed her forehead against Vaggie’s. “I won’t let anything happen to you,” she promised. “Won’t let them—or anyone else!—hurt you.”
Vaggie smiled. “Thanks, hon.”
It was nice seeing Charlie’s protective side. Usually, their roles were reversed. Not that either of them really neededprotection most of the time—they could both handle themselves in a fight—but it was nice, all the same.
She felt safe. Loved. Something she’d never felt before meeting Charlie.
“Gay!” Angel heckled. Charlie blushed and Vaggie groaned.
“Don’t you have anything better to do?”
Angel vaulted over the back of the couch and sat in a way that was probably disrespectful to the very concept of couches.
“Nothin’ that wouldn’t break ‘hotel policy,’” he said, sass complete with air quotes and an eye-roll.
Angel shifted in his seat. “But uh,” he said, tone suddenly and surprisingly genuine. “You alright, Vaggie?”
“Yes,” Vaggie said with a nod, then added, “Thanks, Angel.”
“‘Course,” Angel replied, and Vaggie could almost see the moment when he decided to return to being a jackass. “Gotta look out for my favorite taco-twisted bitch.”
Vaggie stomped towards him, swearing in Spanish the whole way, picked up a throw pillow from the couch, and attempted to smother him with it. None of that stopped the fit of giggles Angel had burst into.
Charlie tried to cajole them out of fighting without physically breaking them apart, and secretly, Vaggie appreciated the normalcy of it all.
No more earth-shattering revelations, no more Exorcists at the door. Just another routine day at the Hazbin Hotel. Thank fuck for that.

Hunter’s nerves were on edge before they even got back to the city. He walked slightly behind his family, Omega talking excitedly with Tech and Echo about Wrecker’s “friend”, despite the large man’s protests from under her.
Crosshair walked next to Hunter, mostly quiet, but chuckling every once in a while as Wrecker’s objections got louder and his face got redder.
Hunter couldn’t seem to stop himself from glancing at his youngest brother as they walked.
“What is it?” Crosshair asked after a long few moments.
Hunter startled a little. He should’ve guessed Crosshair would notice his anxiety. “Nothing,” he mumbled.
“Come on,” Crosshair prodded, rolling his eyes. “Out with it.”
Hunter sighed. “How are you… okay?”
“What?”
“You just seem fine, I guess. I mean you were the closest to her before-”
“Have you ever noticed that the others tend to play off your energy?”
Hunter blinked. “What?”
“She pointed it out to me once. They look to you for more than just battle plans. All this time you’ve never noticed? If you’re nervous about a plan, then so are they. You’re confident; they are too.”
Hunter stopped walking. “No, they have their own feelings.”
“Of course they do,” Crosshair continued. “But you’re the leader, they trust you and they take cues from you.”
Hunter shook his head, watching the others as they continued talking and laughing.
Crosshair smiled sadly at his older brother. “I’m not ‘okay’. I’m not ‘fine’. Everything that happened- it’s killing me. I know it’s hurting you, too. But someone has to put on a mask and I don’t mind picking up the slack until you’re back on your game.”
He patted Hunter's shoulder, tilting his head to the side.
“C’mon, Sarge; if we don’t catch up with them Wrecker and Omega will spend all our extra credits on sugary junk.”
—
“Really? You’re putting the paint on?” Fives asked incredulously from the doorway. “It’s a festival, not a job.”
Raze paused her motions to shoot a quick glare at him. “The Empire thinks we’re dead.”
“The Empire isn’t on Ord Mantell yet,” he countered. “Unless you forgot to mention it.”
“They’re not,” she grumbled, continuing to apply the paint.
“But?”
Raze sighed. “But there’s clones here.”
Fives tensed. “What?”
“They were at Cid’s. I don’t think they’re with the Empire. Or at least Cid doesn’t think so.”
“Yeah, ‘cause Cid’s intel is always right,” he scoffed.
“One of them was… kind of familiar.”
Fives’ eyes narrowed at her as he came up behind her, his hands finding their favorite spots on her hips. “Really? Some clones looked familiar? Wonder where you could’ve seen one of them.”
“Oh, fuck off,” she rolled her eyes, gently elbowing his stomach.
“Seriously, uja,” he whispered, pressing his lips to her neck. “What’s bothering you?”
Her eyes fluttered shut. “Other than you, you mean?”
He grinned against her skin.
“I don’t know; there was just something about him that made me- I don’t know.”
Fives sighed, pulling her hips to spin her around. “Maybe he was 501st?”
“Maybe, but he didn’t look much like any clone I’ve seen- none of them did.”
“What, like they changed their hair or - give me the paint; you always miss the side of your nose - do they paint themselves a different color too?” he teased as he spread a thin layer of the covering down the left side of her nose. It was a blind spot that he knew drove her crazy.
“No,” she hummed. “I mean, I only realized they were clones because two of them had the same structure, but the other three were just so different. Two of them were a bit taller, the third was just massive. Had a kid with them, too.”
Fives scoffed. “They had a kid in Cid’s? That’s some good parenting.”
-
“You need to find a way to relax,” Echo muttered, barely audible to anyone but Hunter over the noise of the crowd.
“I know,” he replied.
“Omega’s starting to get worried.”
“I know.”
Echo sighed.
Hunter glanced at him in his periphery. “What?”
“We need to find a way to move on. All of us.”
“What do you propose?”
“New missions. When we were talking to Rex-”
Hunter groaned. “Echo-”
“He said it would be steady. He’s getting a network started. Food, shelter, work.”
“That’s no place for a kid.”
“We’ll keep training her-”
“And raise her like we were? Echo, she deserves a better life than this.”
The men scowled at each other. This was a discussion that had been becoming more frequent since Bracca.
“Guys, look!” Omega beamed, appearing in front of them, a small stuffed porg doll in her outstretched hands. “I won it from the game over there!”
“Yeah?” Hunter grinned at her. “How’d you do that?”
“You just had to throw a ball and knock down some canisters, it was really easy!”
“Great job, ‘Mega,” he said, ruffling her hair.
She smiled even wider, before turning her head, something catching her eye.
“Tech, look! It’s Raze!”
And just like that she had grabbed her brother’s hand, dragging him toward her.
“I don’t think- Omega!” Echo called after her, before realizing it was hopeless. He sighed, his eyebrows scrunching together. “I don’t trust her.”
Crosshair chuckled, taking a seat next to them, more than amused at the sight of the small girl dragging his twin through the crowd. “Raze? That’s fair.”
“The way she was looking at me earlier was… off-putting.”
“Probably knew how grumpy you are just from a glance,” Wrecker laughed, hitting Echo on the shoulder, making him wince.
“I am not ‘grumpy’,” he replied, eyes rolling.
“You’re not exactly a ray of sunshine,” Crosshair teased.
“Oh, now that can’t be true, boys,” Hunter chided, with a smug grin sending Echo’s eyes into another roll.
“Don’t worry, they’re really nice!” they heard Omega call as she led Tech, Raze, and another man back to the group.
“Omega-” Echo started.
“This is Raze and her friend Forn,” she announced, gesturing to her new ‘friends’. “You already met Tech and Crosshair, and then this is Wrecker, Hunter, and Echo!”
Raze and Forn’s heads snapped to look at where Omega was pointing, before cautiously looking at each other.
Echo scowled at the pair, looking between them and Hunter, who had also noticed their odd reaction.
“Excuse us,” Forn grunted through the voice modulator in his full face mask, grabbing Raze by the arm and pulling her away from them.
Once alone in a tiny alley, he rounded on her. “You said they were clones, you didn’t mention that one of them is Echo!”
“I didn’t ask for a role call!” she hissed. “He doesn’t exactly look the same as the last time we saw him, does he?”
Fives paced back and forth.
“He’s alive,” he muttered. “Echo’s alive.”
“It could be a different Echo,” Raze suggested. “There’s millions of clones, right?”
“No, uja,” Fives shook his head. “It’s him. I know it- I can feel it.”
Raze felt her heart beat become rapid, her pulse practically lifting out of her body. “No, no, you said he- you watched him die,” Raze whispered, the mic in her mask barely picking it up as her voice broke.
Fives held her upper arms. “Uja, it’s him,” he repeated. “I don’t know how, but it’s him.”
Raze’s eyes were barely focusing. “You told me he died; Rex told me-”
Hunter stood around the corner from the alley, his mind racing as he listened to their panicking voices.
He shook his head, walking back towards the others.
“Well?” Crosshair prodded.
“Echo,” Hunter said simply, scowling at the ground, hands clenching at his sides.
“What happened?” he asked.
Hunter sighed. “They know you.”
Echo’s brow lifted. “What?”
“They were freaking out. I think- I think Forn is a clone.”
“He did appear to have a similar build to that of a reg,” Tech pointed out.
“I’ve never met them,” Echo insisted.
“I think he knew you before the explosion,” Hunter explained. “She said he saw when you...”
Echo’s heart was pounding as his mind swirled.
“Echo, who was present when the…incident occurred?” Tech inquired.
He let his eyes fall shut as he let the memory slip into his mind. He could hear the blaster fire, the hum of the lightsabers, the explosions. Distantly, he felt Omega’s hand in his and Wrecker’s hand on his shoulder. He took in a shuddering breath. “Generals Skywalker, Kenobi, and Piell, Commander Tano, Tarkin, Rex, Cody, some troopers from the 212th, some of Piell’s men, Fives and me.”
Tech was tapping rapidly at his datapad. “We can eliminate the generals and commander from the potential options, as well as Tarkin, obviously.”
“Rex already knows you’re alive,” Crosshair pointed out.
Wrecker nodded. “Cody would’a just said something.”
“Ah, here it is,” Tech interrupted. “Republic records indicate that Commander Cody, Captain Rex, and ARC Trooper Fives were the only clones to survive the mission.”
“This doesn’t make any sense,” Echo murmured. “Fives died months before you found me.”
“Maybe Fives didn’t die like Rex thought,” Hunter shrugged.
Echo felt the whole planet begin to spin around him. “He isn’t- Rex was there. He said he-”
“Rex, where’s Fives?”
“Easy, Echo, deep breaths.”
“Echo! Look out!”
“Echo, can you hear me?”
“Echo-”
“He is possibly experiencing a panic attack, but it is more likely a flashback.”
“Rex. Where is Fives? Where is my brother?”
“No shit. What can we do?”
“Echo- vod, I’m sorry.”
“We need to get him out of here.”
“Echo!”
-
“Raze, slow down,” Fives called behind her. He could hear him, his normal voice clear without the modulator, but she didn’t listen. She couldn’t slow down, not when her mind was racing like it was. Echo was alive. After all this time, he survived?
“Uja,” Fives hissed, grabbing her arm as the door to their tiny apartment slid closed behind them. “Please, talk to me.”
“It can’t be him,” she mumbled. “It’s not possible.”
“Uja-”
“You saw him die.”
Fives sighed. “I saw the explosion.”
“You told me he died!”
“I thought he did!”
Raze turned to face him. Her eyes were wide and brimming with tears and Fives could see streaks down her cheeks where they’d begun to remove her face paint. He sighed, taking a step towards her, reaching out to pull her mask from her face.
“He’s alive,” she whimpered, mismatched eyes boring into his soul.
He nodded, no longer able to hold back his own tears.
They embraced, clinging to each other desperately for what felt like an eternity.
-
Echo’s head was pounding. The rest of him was on fire, but so, so cold.
“Hey, welcome back,” Wrecker whispered. “Probably want some water, huh?”
Echo blinked at him for a moment, slowly realizing that he was, in fact, conscious and sitting upright.
Wrecker held out the canteen with a gentle smile.
Echo nodded, gratefully accepting the water, sipping from it and trying desperately to ignore the distinct tang of metal in his mouth.
“Gonna get Tech; he’ll want to check you over.”
Echo nodded again. His mind felt cloudy and his body was sore. Everything felt like he was in an odd little bubble.
“You’re awake,” Tech noted. “How are you feeling?”
Echo’s mouth opened as if to speak, but no sound came out.
“It is not uncommon for those who have experienced physiological distress to temporarily lose the ability to speak,” Tech informed him. “I will proceed by asking questions that can be answered with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”
Tech walked him through several questions, Echo nodding or shaking his head when appropriate.
After a while, Omega had poked her head into the bunk area, a worried expression plastered across her face, Lula in hand. Echo smiled at her, patting the bed.
She crawled in, pressing herself into his side.
“S-sorry,” he managed, hand combing through her hair.
“I’m just glad you’re alright,” she answered.

Even if Raze is only a pretty face, I love him and his design!
You said he was chosen by Commander Fox to work with the Jedi Temple Guard - what did that look like? Was there a specific reason he was chosen?
Thanks for sharing your art with all of us 🙏
In the aftermath of Cad Bane’s holocron theft right from under the Jedi’s noses, it became evident the need for heightened security within the Jedi Temple. Recognizing the necessity for an extra layer of protection in areas frequently overlooked by the Jedi, Din Dralig, made a special request that a clone trooper join their ranks.
Raze was among those nominated, demonstrating exceptional skill and unwavering loyalty. ((Plus it didn’t hurt that he played pivotal role in the investigation of Cad Bane and the stolen holocron, where he worked with Dralig personally.)) Dralig took a quick liking to Raze, and combined with his clean record Commander Fox handpicked Raze to join the Temple Guards.
Raze is the perfect example of a trooper, with the exception of being very independent. He is self driven and is especially interested in investigative work, often times solving entire cases alone.
((And aaaaa tym!!!! I’m so incredibly thrilled to hear you like him??!! 🥺🤲💕💕))
