The first boss and also the first villain we met. He's loved <3

Fun facts about him: He looks like Hooktail from TTYD.  The repeating patterned segments of Fracktail's body, as well as its name are both references to a Fractal , a geometric repetition of a pattern. 

According to Wikipedia a fractal is a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as or snowflakes) in which similar patterns at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation.

When he scanns its database, its eyes turn into the Internet connection symbol for the Wii Shop Channel.                                                                                                                                                                                      

When Dimentio causes it a short-circuit, he riffs on MS-DOS and Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me error messages, makes a reference to the The Legend of Zelda character Error (who stated "I AM ERROR"), and then yells "CTRL ALT DEL" (control, alt, delete).

The trackles are diminutive, robotic beings which are produced by Fracktail. Like him, they were presumably created by the Tribe of Ancients.

In Super Mario Kun (the manga of the game) Fracktail presents itself as a "god" and Mario is initially scared, until it offers him the Pure Heart after it realizes Mario is the hero of the prophecy. Dimentio arrives and glitches Fracktail, causing it to mercilessly attack Mario. Mario tries everything (such as paper-izing himself and praying to it) but nothing works. After Fracktail destroys Peach's photo, Mario's precious possession, he attacks and defeats Fracktail. Dimentio, who was enjoying the battle, disappears, promising to return. Fracktail (who does not explode like in the game) un-glitches and gives the Pure Heart to Mario, unaware of what happened.

Tattle: That's Fracktail, the robotic guardian of the Pure Heart. It's quite enormous... Max HP is ??, Attack is 1. It can fly and swoop down with its big open mouth... But I think the antenna-like horn atop its head is its weak spot... I think you're going to need to use Thoreau to hit it...

His name in Italian is Dracker , a pun on "drago" (dragon) and "hacker". But in German his name is Portmanteau of "lohe" (blaze) and "kost" (food); also a pun on "rohkost" (raw vegetables) or "locust"... Weird.

BIG BLOOPER

Its theme is an arrangement of the underwater music from Super Mario Bros. 3.

Defeating Big Blooper does not earn the player any points, and the giant squid is not killed by the encounter. If the player enters the area where the Blooper's tentacles come out of the floor and ceiling, Big Blooper can be tattled using Tippi or Tiptron.

Fun facts: In Chapter 3, it's the only chapter (besides Castle Bleck) who has a battle in each part. 

In the prelease, It was stipulated that Tippi and the discarded Pixl would fight it, here is a screenshot that confirms it:

Talking about real imbeciles...

Francis is completely invisible when in 2D, but if Mario into 3D, Francis's moving shadow is visible, making it easier to counterattack. Additionally, slamming the ground with will force Francis to appear for a brief moment.

The next time Francis appears is in the Castle Bleck chapter, Castle Bleck Foyer, though as an optional boss. This is the only time he can engage in battle against Luigi and for Tippi to use the Tattle ability on him, since Luigi and Tippi were not available in chapter 3. Partway through the chapter, a disguised Mimi asks the player what they hate most. One of the answers for the final question is "Francis", which will cause Francis to appear in the third room and another battle with him will begin. Francis had apparently been watching one of his favorite television programs before being warped into the castle, and, despite his confusion, he yearned to have Tippi back so much that he talked himself into thinking that his Reclinatron 4500 chair had manipulated his very dreams and warped him to Tippi. After his defeat, Francis runs again, claiming he would simulate the battle on his computer to see what had kept him from winning.

In the manga, when Francis kipnapped Tippi, Mario disguises as Peach, and then Francis kidnapped him. Bowser and his troops have created a little base in Bitlands and see Francis with Princess Peach, causing Bowser to go alone to rescue her. When Mario arrives at Fort Francis, the caged Tippi recognizes him, blowing his cover. Mario snatches her and tries to escape, but Francis starts fighting for his rare butterfly, ending up swallowing Mario. Barry arrives and suggest Tippi to shake the Wii Remote in order to free Mario from Francis' belly, but the two Pixls cannot shake it enough. Right on time, Bowser arrives and, still thinking that Francis swallowed Peach, shakes the Wii Remote so vigorously that he manages to free Mario, even though he gets out from Francis' wrong end. Bowser and Mario start arguing and, when Francis tries to ask what is going on, the two direct their punches against Francis, defeating him and freeing the fourth Pure Heart. Talking about shady things...

In the Japanese version, his like for anime is even more emphasized.

Fun facts: In the Japanese version of the game, Francis yells "Oppose violence!" before he runs away upon defeat.

In Chapter 8, if Tippi is used to inspect the area before the optional battle takes place, Tippi will give the following tattle text: "There's something here... I have a really bad feeling about this..."

In Issue 44 of the Invincible comic series, on page 10, there is a character wearing a T-shirt that references Francis. The shirt features a chameleon in a yellow T-shirt and glasses, sweating, holding a laptop, and saying "HI-TECHNICAAAL."  (A/N): If anyone has a copy of the page, PLEASE SEND IT!!!

It is the Super Paper Mario equivalent of the Magnus von Grapple robot found in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Brobot has the second-largest amount of HP in the game, tied with Dark Muth (only Shadoo has more health, having 400 HP in total), even more than Brobot L-type. However, this is countered by the fact that Squirps' laser rapidly delivers large amounts of damage.

Brobot appears in volume 37 of the Super Mario-Kun, in the Super Paper Mario story arc, where Luigi calls upon it after thinking about negative memories he had with Mario. The Brobot then gets defeated by the Pure Heart and the happy flowers.

In battle, Brobot fires homing missiles and straight shots at the party. The missiles can be destroyed by shooting them. Brobot also fires lasers from its eyes, but they can be dodged by flipping. It can also open its mouth and inhale to try and suck the gang in, then eat them and spit them out, doing major damage in the process.

During the battle, Choco-bars will float by. The player can get them and use them for their advantage. There are five different colors, and each color has a different effect;

Red bars will increase the player's Attack power by 1.

Yellow bars will make the player faster.

Green bars will allow the player to shoot missiles for a short time, which deal regular damage but ignore defense.

Blue bars will create a barrier that will nullify all of Brobot's damage.

Purple bars will have the player shoot two Squirps rays at once.

never used photoshop so im curious to see your opinions about photopea vs photoshop

ok things to be known: 1) adobe can suck my cock and balls theyre evil and i wish that the corporate entity that is adobe would go up in flames, a corporation shoud NOT have that much insight in your privacy, files, sensitive info, etc 2) photopea is great and built off a small dev team as a basically a passion project, which is awesomesauce! i'm not knocking them at all, and i think ppl should support them in anyway they can

i've been a graphic designer and photographer for years now, and in hs i became adobe certified. i literally spent four years of my life learning on an industry standard. it becomes muscle memory after a while. beside that i was a roleplayer so i became VERY familiar with edits and gifs and all that. again everything became muscle memory. adobe suites are the industry standard for a reason, and for GOOD reason. i think they have an amazing interface and work hard to update the experience and make shit easier for artists; like i will give them that even if i sound like a bootlicker. i never paid for it tho lol as a student i got it for free and i would use cracks/torrents.

when i got my new computer it wouldn't let me run bootcamp so i couldn't crack the adobe suites like i used to :/ new mac processors or whatever don't rely on intel anymore, so not intel = no bootcamp. most cracks are pc based so i just couldn't find one that worked for me. apple went ham on protecting IP and combating torrents so it's like impossible to crack without an extensive VPN or else adobe will literally send a cease and desist to your internet provider. its sincerely fucked up.

i switched to photopea bc of this. i really liked it, but im autistic so having to relearn my own workflow that ive had for years made me want to hashtag die. the interface is VERY close to photoshop, so it wasn't hard, but it doesn't have the same capabilities i was used to w ps. i do NOT like edited photos in photopea; i think its way too laggy and glitchy to work with giant raw files, which really sucks!!! for making small edits and doing my graphic design tho??? i do really like it. it doesn't have the same capabilities as ps sure, but once i just fucked with the filter galleries and different plug ins and worked my process around what photopea could accomplish, i was good as gold. i've been producing quality work on commission through photopea. it's a learning curve for sure, especially if you have zero experience with an editing interface like that, but the more i use it the more i learn.

all of that being said, i think photopea is fucking awesome for being completely free and open source. it has its issues —— sometimes its way too glitchy for me and pisses me the fuck off, i have to frequently save my psd files and hope that they don't fuck up, and then reopen so it's less laggy and rinse and repeat bc some of my stuff takes hours lmfao —— but i think its pretty darn close to the photoshop i was using like less than a year ago. its glitchy, its laggy, the ads are annoying and clog up the screen, but i simply cannot complain to much when its a smallish dev team working on a shoestring budget (last time i checked) and for FREE. like its open and usable on any browser and computer and i think thats rad.

if i could go back to ps without giving them money i would in a heartbeat. ps is awesome for the work i do, and i like that there's constant improvements and updates. it just boils down to look, feel, and workflow to me; ps is rarely laggy and glitchy, its meant to handle giant projects, there's so many plug ins you can find online, etc. i just wish it wasn't a subscription based software; honestly if i new adobe was less like the elf on the shelf and i could make a one time purchase, i would. but alas.

anyways i'm pro photopea all the way. idk if any of this was helpful its mostly rambly lmfao. but yeah. i don't do much photography anymore, so i don't have to work around the glitches and lags and all of that with photopea; i focus on graphic design for event fliers and social media content + rp resources. it has room for improvement for sure for sure, but it's lovely and helpful in its own way.

wild fennel fritters with pecorino

INGREDIENTS

6c. wild fennel fronds, picked from stems, boiled, squeeze-dried

1 large red onion, finely diced

2 eggs

3/4c. breadcrumbs

1/2c. grated pecorino cheese

1/4c. small dried raisins or currants

pinch of peperoncino

1T wild fennel seeds

sea salt and black pepper to taste

3c. vegetable oil to deep fry

PROCESS

Prepping the wild fennel is the most time consuming part of this recipe. Pick the soft fronds for the polpette, and discard the thick tough stems. Wash the greens thoroughly in a salad spinner then blanch in boiling salted water for about 15 minutes until softened. Squeeze all of the water from the wild fennel, blot on paper towels, or place it again into the salad spinner to remove as much moisture as possible. In a small food processor or with a chefs knife, chop the fennel greens finely and place in a large mixing bowl. Add the diced red onion, two eggs, parmigiano cheese, raisins and wild fennel seeds. Season with a pinch of peperoncino red chili flakes, sea salt and black pepper. Mix to combine and add the breadcrumbs as needed to hold it all together. You should be able to form small “meatballs” that are not too sticky but will hold their shape. Continue making your polpettine with the remaining mix.

In a wide sauce pan, heat at least 2-inches of vegetable oil over medium heat. There must be enough oil to deep fry. It will actually help keep them from becoming greasy if you use more oil and allow the food to float. When a small test piece sizzles in the oil, we are ready to fry!

Carefully place enough polpettine into the hot oil so they can float around without being too crowded. This recipe will make about 30 small balls and depending on the size of your pan you can probably fry 10 at at time. When they become a darker shade of green and you can tell by touching them with a metal spider tool that there is a crisp shell, they can be removed. Let the oil drain off over the pan before moving them to a paper-lined tray to blot off and absorb the additional oil. Continue with the next batch and let the polpettine cool slightly on the paper.

Notes from the Chef:

Finocchietto selvatico has a particular savory, earthy, anise or licorice-like flavor that screams “Sicily”. It’s found growing along the side of the road all over the Sicilian countryside during winter and springtime. Wild fennel is most commonly used in the “pasta con le sarde” dish with saffron and sardines. Fennel and wild fennel are different plants, although they come from the same family. Fennel is the more common white bulb that is served raw in salads while the wild fennel is a bright green flowering Mediterranean plant with fluffy fronds, similar to the little sprouts you usually see growing out of the top of a fennel bulb.

So, we all know that everyone loves a meatball! Polpette — or small polpettine in this case, are perfect bite-sized snacks to serve when you have friends coming over and need a little something to nosh on. They are always a hit with the kids as well! Try this simple vegetarian recipe for wild fennel meatballs or feel free to substitute any leafy green like Tuscan kale, frozen spinach or chopped swiss chard if wild fennel greens are not available.

Like most meatballs, there needs to be something added to the mix that will help hold them together. We are using breadcrumbs, grated cheese, and egg to bind them. It could even be made gluten-free with rice/cornflour breadcrumbs. Like many traditional Sicilian recipes, we’re playing with sweet and savory flavors here. The addition of the dried raisins helps to balance the savory and salty notes of the fennel and parmigiano. With a little dash of freshly grated pecorino on top, you’ll have that snowy feeling even if the sun is still shining wherever you may be this winter.
