i was trying to find the spot in tcp where this scene goes but got distracted rereading and nearly flooded my bathroom bc Callebero + Malia + Rassler make me ;__________;

Malia let out a quivering breath. “We’re never going to get all these tears out,” she mumbled mournfully. One hand had snaked under Rassler’s grip and plucked at a rather large damp spot spreading across Callebero’s chest from her tears. Her other hand remained fisted at the back of his shoulder. “Good thing water washes out,” Callebero teased, resolutely ignoring the way his voice came out thin. “How can you joke?” Rassler demanded. “You died and were gone from us, how can you—” He broke off, hiding his face back in Callebero’s shoulder, and Callebero carefully unwound his arm from around Malia in order to wrap it over Rassler’s back and hug him close. “I’ve had more time to get used to it, I guess,” he replied before sobering when that only made Rassler cry harder. “It’s alright. I’m alright. I’m here. There’s no need for weeping.” When he’d thought of their arrival, he’d expected anger mostly: being kicked out for posing as the imperator princep without seeing either Malia or Rassler, Malia scolding him for his recklessness. He hadn’t expected the hurt, the grief still so fresh. The past months loomed long in his memory; long enough, surely, for all the tears to have dried. This outpouring knocked him back a step, found too full-voiced a refrain in his own chest. There was too much to do, too many things to discuss, to stand here sobbing over old hurts, and yet, he could not make himself let go.

The party had just finished investigating parts of Miazu, only to find themselves leaving the town to seek out a Yieki by the name of Toraki.  However, upon finding him, the party has found themselves having to decide to either help the acolytes of Rasslerism or the Yieki.  What choice will the party ultimately make?  …

IN THIS RING, I THEE WED

This sign can be seen just down Old Blue Route beyond the Downside section of the village. The land, which they have renamed Highspot, is owned by a reclusive religious sect known as the Good Sammartinoans.   As far as I can tell, this sect only exists in that pocket reality of Canterville.  The patriarch of the Good Sammartinoans, known by the title of Ring General, has on occasion canonized famous wrestlers who have passed on.  Among those who are in their pantheon of saints are King Kong Bundy, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Chyna, George Steele, and Andre the Giant.

Theirs is a Christian faith, expressed through bouts of staged wrestling matches.  And perhaps their most popular of church services are the wedding ceremonies.  Despite being cut off from the outside world there at the Connecticut Notch, the knowledge of this church’s existence has reached beyond their borders, with couples requesting the opportunity to wed in the church’s ring.  Of course, spells are employed at the end of the celebrations, the simplest of lethe spells, so that while the newlyweds and their parties retain their memories of the ceremony, they have no clue as to where it took place.

Even couples from the dimension of the Flatlands have traveled through the vortals for the chance to have their vows solemnized during a wrestling match.  (Recently, one of the Monitaur agents from Pooticuck County married his beloved – and former adversary – there at Highspot.  She was an Amazonian student of the Sgàthach Academy at Dunscuth, and she only agreed to marry him once he bested her two falls out of three.)

For these wedding ceremonies, they were held in an elevated square platform which was padded with foam and covered with canvas.  This setting was surrounded by an amphitheater-styled circle.  The Good Sammartinoans who officiated the ceremonies would be dressed in tuxedoes but with the sleeves ripped off at the shoulders.  It was the couple’s prerogative as to whether their attire reflected the milieu or not, but it was recommended that they spend little on their outfits, considering how they fared during the event.

At the appropriate time in the ritual, the minister would turn in a full circle to address the congregation. “If anyone here knows of any reason why this couple should not be joined together as husband and wife, let them speak now or forever hold their peace!”

At that point, there would be a growl from behind the couple which was echoed by another source on the far side of the ring.. Two wedding guests leapt to their feet and ripped off their tuxes, stripped down to their business suits – wrestling tights.

Grabbing their chairs, the two rasslers would then rush the platform and invade the ceremony on the mat. That’s when they would perform the move from which the retreat got its name – a high spot – in which a highly risky maneuver is undertaken. With a crazed scream of fury, one of those interlopers would slam into the minister’s chest, knocking him over the other rassler who was crouching behind him.

But before they could do any more damage, that’s when the groom would grab one of those chairs and smash it over the back of the first rassler. While that intruder was dazed, the groom would rush him to the ropes and toss him out of the ring. The second rassler’s plan would have been to ambush the groom from behind, but that’s when he would get a tap on the shoulder. Turning around, the bride would slam the other chair full in his face and then shove him flying over the ropes to join his cohort.

O’Bviously, the bride and groom endured plenty of rehearsals to prepare for such a grueling wedding ceremony.

As the cheers from the assembled guests die down, the Good Sammartinoan minister would declare the couple husband and wife, lifting their arms in the air as a sign of victory before he instructed the groom to kiss the bride.
