REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 14/10/2023 (Drake's 'For All the Dogs', Nines' 'Crop Circle 3', Lovejoy)
Content warning: mentions of sex, violence, anxiety and SO. MUCH. DRAKE.
Kenya Grace’s first chart hit is also her first chart-topper as “Strangers” hits #1! It’s a pretty big week, with or without Drake, and this is REVIEWING THE CHARTS!
Rundown
As always, we start the episode off with our notable dropouts, which as I always explain are always the songs exiting the UK Top 75 - which is always what I cover - after spending five weeks in the region or peaking in the top 40. “Always” by Bon Jovi is not included, but we do see the loss of some 2023 hits like “TRIPLE THREAT” by Headie One, K-Trap and Clavish, “Slime You Out” by Drake featuring SZA (thanks to the three-song rule - though it’s a toss-up whether this one will actually come back), “Tension” by Kylie Minogue, “Feel It” by Jazzy, “TELEKINESIS” by Travis Scott featuring SZA and Future, “Speed Drive” by Charli XCX and “Little Things” by Jorja Smith, as well as some old songs that won’t go away temporarily going away, those being “Dog Days are Over” by Florence + the Machine and “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi.
What’s always infinitely more interesting are the gains, of which there aren’t all too many this week. We do see the biweekly return of a Fleetwood Mac song with “Dreams” at #73, and then for our notable gains, we see boosts for “Escapism.” by RAYE featuring 070 Shake getting what must be a third or fourth wind at #54, “Back on 74” by Jungle at #30, “I Remember Everything” by Zach Bryan featuring Kacey Musgraves at #29, “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan at #28 and “ecstacy” by SUICIDAL-IDOL at #26. I’m not really complaining either, most of these are great songs. Finally, in the top 10, Sonny Fodera and Clementine Douglas grab their first ever top 10 hit with “Asking” at #10, also granting MK’s his second as a credited artist - it did surprise me how he’d only grabbed one before.
This week’s top five on the UK Singles Chart consists of two Drake songs at the tail: “IDGAF” featuring Yeat at #5 - yes, seriously, Yeat is in the top five - and “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole at #4. Otherwise, we have “greedy” by Tate McRae at #3, “Prada” by casso, RAYE and D-Block Europe at #2 and of course, “Strangers” at #1. Now to run through the new songs, of course finishing with Drake but starting far from it.
NEW ARRIVALS
#75 - “Lil Boo Thang” - Paul Russell
Produced by Sean Cook
I am getting older. Not too quickly, and I’m still young but I am aging gradually like everyone does. I also feel like I’m getting a tad more sociable, a bit more willing to put myself out there. This song samples “Best of My Love” by the Emotions, a classic disco track that is used extensively and liberally in this new song. It peaked at #4 in 1977, and I’m not THAT old, not that being old enough to remember the hits of 1977 would make my criticism less valid or anything. Hell, this song does have some new things about it - it’s not two minutes thanks to TikTok attention spans, and he makes references to the NBA 2K games - though even those are 24 years old now. Yet despite that… I think I want to hug this guy at a wedding we’re mutual invitees of, ask him about how his life has been since I last saw him a couple years ago, and make 15-year-old in-jokes we’ve had since we went to school. Everyone has an inner middle-aged person in them, I think this song takes it out of me. It’s been bubbling up for a while and it is pure joy. The guy can barely sing but it doesn’t matter because of the fast, rap-like melodies and the delightful jazzy soundbed, as well as that undeniable groove that may be very plastic, but still gets me excited. If I heard this at an outdoor party full of those 35 and over (and sadly, their kids), I’d have to go to the back and to the front. The bridge with him interpolating the Emotions sample and the computer-esque vocoder just to tick of all the boxes is adorable too. This song is cute, it’s a jam, you young whipper-snappers just wouldn’t get it.
#60 - “TLC” - Digga D
Produced by P YouGotThat
Now we have a streak of four songs somewhere in the middle of the chart which I honestly don’t think I’ll have a lot to say about, not because they’re bad but because these are chart regular appearances just doing business as usual, and isn’t the album entries from Nines and Drake we have coming up, or a newcomer like Paul Russell, or a general oddity like a heavy rock song charting, which we will see later. It’s just business as usual, and this is especially true for Digga D. He is still on his whole late 90s-early 2000s US rap throwback style, this time directly sampling Bumpy’s Lament” by Soul Mann & the Brothers, probably better known as the loop Dr. Dre used in “Xplosive” featuring Hittman, Six-Two, Nate Dogg and Kurupt, which appears on the iconic 2002. Whilst never released as a single, it’s a pretty iconic beat, and is still certified silver in the UK. Is it a good song? Well, not really in my opinion, at least outside of Nate Dogg, who improves every track he’s on tenfold, so maybe Digga D’s more subtle use of the sample under extra layers of horns and a particularly gross-sounding drill beat can do something more interesting with it? Yeah, not really, the hi-hats sound like fruits sticking to each other in the fridge, and Digga D is usually at least a bit more energetic than this. God, he’s actually one of the more lively UK drillers, but he says in the chorus how tired he is of fame, and it shows. This is a pretty depressing song if you consider that… well, it would be if he did anything interesting outside of that chorus which adds less potency to his flexing, sex bars and mockery of dead teenagers than I think he wants it to. This is just sad in a pathetic kind of way. At least the sample’s cool.
#59 - “Hey DJ” - Joel Corry
Produced by Joel Corry, Neave Applebaum and Punctual
Hey, Joel, I think you missed a feature credit somewhere. You may have dropped it on your way to Spotify, I believe you mean to credit Roc Star on the vocals? No? Okay, well, she’s about as faceless as she is nameless in her performance anyway, in a pretty typical Euro-trance throwback that at least has the cheesy synth builds and a pulsing Cascada-esque feel to it all, even if the washes of white noise and ambiance get a bit much since they’re not very aptly blended into the song, it just feels like the synth pads are full of flat air. In fact, flat would be a pretty apt way of describing this entire song. It’s a shame because I have a fondness for this kind of sound, yet this feels a bit too tight to work in that context, and way too unabashedly cheesy to work in any other.
#41 - “Me & U” - Tems
Produced by Guilty Beatz
Those of you who read my 2006 episode will know I am a big fan of the Cassie song of the same name, which of course isn’t sampled here, it’s just a coincidence. This is a much more chill Afrobeats single from Tems, and one thing that stands out to me at first is the opening line to the first verse: “For me to come out, it must mean I am at the door”. The continued sense of agency surrounding her relationship in the first verse and intro seems to erode in the second verse, as she makes herself a blank canvas for her lover. The sliding guitars and fluttering percussion, feeling almost manic in rhythm, really accentuates that something is deteriorating… but not necessarily in a bad way. Tems’ agency and self-consciousness dissolves not as a result of manipulation but simple comfort over hours and hours of being together with them, inferred by the constant chanting backing vocals intertwined into the beat and the really perhaps-too-repetitious lyrics. He still needs to prove himself though - she needs faith and he needs to show her some substance before she can fully be part of his “matter”. It’s a hypnotisingly cute mutual love song and of course, whilst I’d prefer a more climactic bridge or a chorus that consists of more than four words repeated ad nauseam, I completely get why the song is that way, and it kind of works for me. Not fully, but it’s close - this is good.
#39 - “You & Me” - JENNIE
Produced by Teddy Park
Oh, how I wish these two songs weren’t separated by “Calm Down” on the chart. Regardless, JENNIE may not seem like a chart regular but she is from the group BLACKPINK, of which we’ve heard solo efforts from before, with LISA, ROSÉ and JISOO all charting solo songs, and I actually liked all of them, some more than others, so I was excited to hear JENNIE’s addition to the BLACKPINK solo canon. Well, again, it’s not close to another song of this title I much prefer - this time by Disclosure - but it’s still okay. Perhaps stuck in 2019 given the vocaloid sample that provides much of the backing melody alongside the charmingly dated synths, snap percussion and JENNIE doing a bit of a Selena Gomez impression, but that’s not my least favourite era of pop, and the shimmering slide into the pre-chorus is a smooth, inspired transition that… oh, my God, they did it again. This is just like when I heard ROSÉ’s “On the Ground” - it starts off as an above-serviceable pop song before dropping into chaotic, almost industrial synths that have no reason to be there but elevate the song to really interesting territory, especially given the screech of those synths, factorial percussion and glass smashing that transforms this chorus from sounding completely sincere to either being a falsehood - kind of implied by the lyrics about not wanting to fall in love - or just grimy and sexy, and given the rap bridge about not blocking his “shots” and promising that she’ll be his last love that just looks better on her, yeah, I’m guessing it’s the second, and the bass-heavy devolution into a swinging screech not dissimilar to a bad squeak really sells it. This is a pretty damn great song, definitely not what I was expecting and whilst it won’t last, I think at least I’ll keep listening to this one.
#37 - “Toxic” - Nines featuring Bad Boy Chiller Crew
Produced by ProdByDizzy, I Don’t Rap I Dress and Babycashy1
Those have got to be some of the worst producer names I’ve seen in recent times. Anyway, UK rapper Nines released his second album of the year with Crop Circle 3 - it reached #2 on the albums chart and we have two consecutive songs from it year. This one… well, it has the Bad Boy Chiller Crew on it for some reason. This does mean that they bring their style of blissful bassline production, with that wispy pitch-shifted vocal and twinkling keys shifting over the 2-step production. It’s a jumpy, bouncing beat with some cute sound effects and popping intricacies I can appreciate. The BBCC guys are just as they always are, but they fit the beat and ride it well, with their typical laddish delivery. Nines, however, still has a single flow and takes himself too seriously, so he is completely out of place despite carrying the hook! Every time the song gains momentum leading into the chorus, you get this sloppy rendition from Nines instead of any of the BBCC fun translating from the verses. That’s not to mention his droning, off-beat verse either. “I went jail and got bigger, like when Mario jumps on the flower”. Really? You make words sound good for a living, how is that what you come up with?
#35 - “I Do” - Nines featuring Tunde and Mugzz
Produced by Show N Prove, Jacob Manson and RJ Cherry
The amount of features on this album should be telling of what purpose Nines serves in UK rap. This is also much more typical Nines fare, with the whispery ad-libs, quick trap skitter, bad vocal mixing and dull deliveries from everyone involved, especially Mugzz who has nowhere near enough character to handle a basic chorus like that. To be fair to the producers, the wiry G-funk synths are pretty unique, and to be fair to Tunde, his flow is a bit better and more energetic than the others, but I’m picking at straws. There are no surprises to be heard here.
#27 - “Normal People Things” - Lovejoy
Produced by Psylla
Indie rock band Lovejoy are back with their newest single, and it’s probably their most concise, heavy claustrophobic jam yet. The song starts with the words “panic attack” and continues to sound just like you’d expect a British panic attack to sound like, with that tedious riff rinsing its anticipation over frustrated drumming, as Mr. Wilbur Soot delivers one of his least kept-together performances so far, with anxious lyrics, odd sampling and a lower-register moan that digs him well below the ground. The chorus propells the song further into anxiety, as despite the initially cathartic riff, Soot ends up gravelly whining the “hold your breath” mantra before a rapid screeching acceleration that brings us to the… kind of cringeworthy bridge. There’s one thing I don’t like about this song and it is the distracting nature of the lyrics, which is to be expected with Lovejoy but still doesn’t work nearly as well as it did in their EP from earlier this year, not because of a lack of subtlety but because there’s less to the song’s progression here. It’s difficult to swallow when it’s further contained in a two-minute single, but it’s still not far enough to make this song not click. It’s still good, still give it a chance, but I feel they have better stuff coming soon.
#6 - “Virginia Beach” - Drake
Produced by 40 and Harley Arsenault
Drake’s latest #1 album For All the Dogs is a bloated feature chock full of corny, misogynistic lyrics, depressively murky production and song ideas so frail they have to be confined to obsessive beat switches. It’s also my favourite Drake album. Outside of being comically pathetic and largely an embrace of that gross side of Drake he’s always at least tried to put up a guise for in the past, it’s also a damn good pop-rap album with unexpected turns, infectious hooks, smooth feature performances and hard beats as well as some genuinely touching lyrical moments, at least when he wants to bring them in. I won’t talk about the album at length here because this isn’t an album review show and we don’t know what else may be coming to chart in the coming weeks from it. So I’ll keep it pretty brief for these tracks, especially since they’re all good but not particular favourites off of the record. This is the opening track, generating much of its buzz from the fizzy Frank Ocean sample off of the filtered guitars and strings that coalesce into one melodious murk quickly snapped into place by a weirdly-mixed trap skitter and Drake’s loose, desperate complaining about this girl probably half his age who he, for whatever reason, is not with anymore. He’s off the lean and refusing to treat her better, despite the fact that she already has a boyfriend at the point she’s seeing Drake. He’s a complete douchebag in full nasal whining mode until the second verse which actually does a pretty cool switch-up by filtering the Frank sample further and introducing a looming synth as Drake continues to rap some of his corniest relationship bars yet. It’s “on sight like WWW, on site like dot com”? Sure, Aubrey.
#5 - “IDGAF” - Drake featuring Yeat
Produced by BNYX and Sebastian Shah
This is barely a Drake song. Most accurately, this is a Yeat song with a lengthy intro using warping progressive electronics wired behind a sample of trinkling pianos, beautiful sax and mystifying vocals provided by jazz band Azimuth, that has little purpose other than to be subverted as soon as Yeat comes in talking about having sex over a completely alien rage beat. Yeat’s vocals are modified beyond coherency at some points, he’s showered in ad-libs, and most importantly, he’s not Drake, who delivers a completely serviceable, one-take verse that quickly gets overshadowed by Yeat… kind of going off, in a uniquely Young Thug way, where you’re not impressed by any lyrics or flows but you are impressed by just the continued violent refusal to stop rapping. Nothing is said of any interest - of course not - but it goes hard enough, it has that extraterrestrial tone to it, and the completely incoherency of Yeat is actually quite a fascinating refresher from the track that precedes it, that being…
#4 - “First Person Shooter” - Drake featuring J. Cole
Produced by Coleman, Vinylz, Tay Keith, Boi-1da, FNZ and OZ
The two heavy-weights team up for the first time in over 10 years and of course, Cole runs away with the fantastic feature verse you always expect, rarely actually get but is never a surprise to hear. I’m far from a J. Cole fan but the man can rap, and rap he will, especially when he has something to prove, rapping about how he, Drake and Kendrick are the undisputed GOATs of their respective generation. Cole doesn’t even wait for the beat to come in, delivering some deadpan wordplay over the soul sample from Joe Washington as soon as the song starts. Drake then gives a respectful warm-up, essentially acting as Cole’s hypeman, though with an odd focus on child-related wordplay, and then over the explosive trap beat, Cole just chugs on in what feels both endless and effortless, making good use of silent moments to switch between flows, delivering punchlines honestly not that far away from Drake’s and with the increased energy the beat deserves. Of course, we then got what is now a typical Drake beat switch into an even harder Memphis rattle, as if Drake knew he got bodied and added an extra verse from himself so he’s not completely embarrassed. He holds his own pretty well though, with one of his more technically proficient and aggressive verses on the whole album, as well as stepping up his punchlines and flexes a bit thanks to Cole’s presence. It’s a rapid fire rappity-rap track so I have no expectations of it actually staying, but it is still a killer track.
Conclusion
With all that said, JENNIE gets Best of the Week for “You & Me”. Yeah, it’s not what I expected but it’s a fantastic track that really digs at what I like about K-pop whilst also just being a brilliantly constructed love song. And despite me loving that Drake album, not even “First Person Shooter” can get the Honourable Mention. Nope, that’s going to Paul Russell for “Lil Boo Thang”. Seriously. As for the worst, I mean this was a pretty good week - not even the Nines songs were that bad - so Digga D gets it handedly for “TLC” but Joel Corry grabs the Dishonourable Mention for “Hey DJ” mostly on just being lazy. Next time, we’ll see if any of this actually sticks the landing for a second. I have doubts about nearly all of it doing so but for now, thank you for reading, rest in peace to Rudolph Isley, and I’ll see you next week!

5 of the Best Alternative UK Rap Albums of 2019 by Dwayne Wilks
With us all home-bound for the foreseeable future, there’s no better time than now to catch up on the music, film and television that might have passed us by in recent times. When it comes to rap in all its forms, the UK took it to new levels in 2019. Dave delivered a seminal album early in the year. Headie One might have established himself as the star of the drill scene with Music x Road. Through Kano and Wretch we saw the scene’s OGs continue to push themselves and cover unchartered territory (can we also acknowledge the crazy feature run Ghetts has been on). Amidst all the heat and the D-Block Europe clones that 2019 has provided us with though, a lot of sick projects from established artists didn’t get the shine they deserved. Here are 5 of the best that fall within that category:
Blood, Swvgg, Tears/Youngs Teflon
For the past 10 years Youngs has consistenly delivered quality UK rap. Now a veteran, Blood, Swvgg, and Tears sees Tef’ continue with gritty tales of the trap and the South London streets, while sounding hungrier than a lot of the scene’s newcomers. The sample driven Aaliyah and the conceptual Broken Safety exhibit Young’s vintage storytelling abilty, the latter inspired by his favourite rapper, Nas’ classic track I Gave You Power. Being a decade deep in the game, Teflon, (aka ‘Jimmy’) has sharpened his pen to the point that almost every bar comes packaged with a punchline and those punchlines don’t (often) miss. Couple his wordplay with the overall sonics of the project; hard-hitting drilly beats that align the album with the current sound of the scene, and Blood, Swvgg and Tears establishes Jimmy as a stalwart of UK hiphop. That’s if he wasn’t one already. The best thing is, it looks like he’s still getting better.
(Best Tracks: 3AM In Brixton, Clout, Rehab, Survivor Stories Pt.2)
Kojey Radical/Cashmere Tears
Cashmere Tears gifts us with Kojey’s usual intricate and poetic flows, introspective content and performative delivery. As he has been for some years now, he gives us finely crafted bars about steeped in introspection, but this time they are delivered over warm sultry basslines and endorphin-inducing horns. On Can’t Go Back, producer Swindle’s joy-filled funk is married with Kojey’s lyrics celebrating his re-emergence from a dark mental space. This is the formula that carries much of the project; candid, vulnerable bars atop infectious instrumentation. When it comes to levels of funk, the album resides high up in the stratosphere. I’m not sure there’s a rapper in the UK that’s as comfortable up at those dizzying heights. Don’t believe me? Do yourself a favour and listen to Kojey glide over the album’s title track Cashmere Tears.
The warm basslines and brass sections are repurposed later in the album, matching the more sombre topics Kojey tackles. Case in point being the track Eleven which sees Kojey grieve the death of his close friend. The vulnerability showed on songs like this and the choir assisted closer Last Night has an endearing effect on you as you listen; you can’t help but appreciate the raw honesty in the act of exposing your lowest moments. Cashmere Tears is an example of how music can offer a view into an artist’s conscience and psyche. When it comes to pushing the boundaries of the UK music scene Kojey Radical is at the forefront, his workload far outweighing his acclaim.
(Best Tracks: Cashmere Tears, Eleven, Feel About It)
Money Over Everyone/P Money
P Money has never made the most humble music. Moretime he’s spitting bars soaked in arrogance over grime instrumentals, and it’s this arrogance that makes Money Over Everyone 3 so hard. P Money revels in his longstanding refusal to comprimise from the grime genre, taking every opportunity to tell everyone that doubted his and grime’s staying power, “hate to tell you ‘I told you so’… but I told you so”. Countless times on M.O.E.3 P Money shamelessly champions his own integrity, like his boasts about touring Australia for the fourth time on Shh Hut Yuh Mout which has JME repeat one of his classic refrains all over the hook. There is a deliberate attempt to align himself with JME who is featured and name dropped at several points on the album and P is fully deserving of the type of recognition that the BBK legend recieves, especially after an album like this. Amidst all the boasy talk, M.O.E.3 does have its more reflective moments; Live This Twice has P show that he doesn’t at all take his success for granted and on That’s Air Manga St Hilare assists in explaining the mindset of the kids on road that have nothing to lose and move accordingly.
(Standout Tracks: Where & When, About Grinding, Live This Twice)
Little Simz has recieved a lot of praise this year, mainly for starring in the latest season of Top Boy on Netflix. While she’s fully deserving of the acclaim for her acting, her muscial endeavours might have gone slightly under the radar. Grey Area is Simz’s best work yet; at times vulnerable and at times aggressive, at times sombre but always honest. The raw drum break and distorted bassline underpins Simbi’s boasy, hostile tone in the opener Offence. Within no time it’s clear: Little Simz can rap. So as impressive as these aggresive moments are, it’s elsewhere on the project that Simz really shines.
There’s a dope moment of nostalgia on the song 101FM; nostalgia both in the sonics and sentiment of the track. From this, the mid-way point of the album, Simz gets into her personal bag. On Therapy she opens up about attending therapy sessions to cope with the burdens of fame and relationships, but unexpectedly declares the practice of therapy ineffective and unhelpful. Unexpected because the next track, Sherbet Sunset, is a rambling confession of the pain of a broken heart. Lines like “ Still it hurts tremendously, can’t bear the intensity”, “ Lost part of myself, and I can’t get her back”, “ Who am I? I’m a mess, more sinning, more spending” paint a picture of someone in dire need of therapy. It seems though that Little Simz’ prefers to heal through her music, putting her pain in her lyrics provides all the catharsis she needs. And long as it works for, I’m here for it. The blessings and burdens of fame, the contrast of her introversion and her intensity, it all makes for Little Simz’ Grey Area.
(Standout Tracks: Selfish, 101 FM, Pressure)
Not Waving But Drowning/Loyle Carner
Not Waving But Drowning feels longer than its 45 minute run time. The record’s generally slow-tempo and Carner’s easy flow don’t make for the most thrilling of listens. Carner’s effortless delivery might even be enough to send the more passive listener to sleep. Animated and energetic it is not, but Carner’s magic is found in his deeply personal lyrics, full of feeling. In his patented fluid rhyme style, he tells of a train journey that spurs thoughts of a future family in Ottolenghi, the track made all the more touching by tenderness of Jordan Rakei’s singing on the hook. There are a host of touching moments on the album like the song Desoleil (Brilliant Corners) which features elusive UK singer Sampha and is a perfect fit for the vocalist, with its ballad-like pace and fleeting drums that hide in the back of the track, allowing the piano riff to lead.
The personal, touching moments continue with songs like Loose Ends (for which Jorja Smith lends her vocals) and Krispy, an attempt to amend a failed friendship. Maybe the most intimate moment is Looking Back where Carner explains his feelings of being lost because of being mixed race. This song isn’t the contrived and corny stuff we hear from some (*looks in the direction of Logic*), but is as earnest as it is honest, exemplified by the hard-hiting line “I’m thinking that my great grandfather could’ve owned my other one/ And yo, that shit is weird”. Despite the reminiscing on times less certain and existential struggles of Not Waving But Drowning, the album doesn’t feel negative or depressive. Even though much of the instrumentation is melancholy in feel, much is also pretty feel-good. There is a lot of optimism about the future and there is a lot of talk of love, whether it’s directed towards his friends, family or partner. Loyle Carner probes around in his own feelings in this project and invites us to join the search.
(Standout Tracks: Ice Water, Ottolenghi, Desoleil (Brilliant Corners), Looking Back)

Time For My Death Sentence
I always wanted to share my thoughts on old shit. And since severals years have passed, I'm sure I (a ghost) can freely give unpopular opinions on things without getting noticed (I know I'm pressing my luck). Maybe not a minority reception, but small nonetheless. Alright, here goes the list:
1. I hate pineapple pizza. (Easy enough)
2. I can't stand SJWs. They make me think liberals are plain stupid and delusional (and I lean a bit more to the left). I can go on a long rant about them but I won't do it here. And plenty have already beaten me to it.
3. Fandoms are horrible (yeah yeah I know I shouldn't generalize but truly, the most vocal ones just ruin it for me)
4. Supernatural was good for the first 6 seasons. Afterwards it gotten repetitive, inconclusive, and irritating.
5. Big Bang Theory too, for 4 seasons. I hate when it turned into a Rom-Com like it's FRIENDS. I'm glad it's coming to an end (hopefully)
6. I love the high school musical trilogy, I don't care if it's corny or dumb.
7. Twilight doesn't deserve all the hate it got. It wasn't even that bad (except for Breaking Dawn, I can understand that)
8. I still very much enjoyed the second half of Death Note even after L's Death. I love Near and Mello (And Matt!).
9. Ah, My Goddess! is the best and only Rom Anime I ever enjoyed. Keichi and Belldandy are a wholesome couple.
10. I hate the Germany = HRE conspiracy in Hetalia. There, I said it! I always saw them as 2 different people. I'm also not a GerIta shipper. Oopsie.
11. Naruto Ending sucks ass, I'm sorry. It ended with shitty couples and cheap power-ups and Bigger Baddies (A Goddess WTF) and unresolved themes/problems and the LAST movie and emptiness and many more questions. All just for the spin-off Boruto.
12. Fire Emblem needs to get rid of avatars and waifus. It's getting ridiculous.
13. I like Young Justice (not a super fan), but I hate the time skips and overload of new characters. I love Wally(RIP?), but could care less about Spitfire, they're like my least favorite couple.
14. I hate the New 52 DCAU art style. Just, no.
15. With the exception of volumes 1-3, RWBY is utter trash.
16. Legend Of Korra was decent. Tho my only favs were Bolin, Varrick, and Tenzin.
17. I love Gotham, but I hated the mismatched rom drama and resurrecting dead people schtick.
18. I Despise Disney Remakes. They are all TERRIBLE.
19. Speaking of Disney, I MISS 2-d animation. Those were beautiful times.
20. Lyrical Rap Music with meaning is 10x better than that mumble shit.
21. I wasn't at all affected by Hughes' Death in FMA (I'm wading dangerous waters). I mean yeah, it was tragic, but I didn't cry or lost sleep over it.
22. I'm too late in the game to like or enjoy KPOP. BTS is alright tho.
23. Polar Express is the BEST Christmas film. I dgaf what anyone says.
24. I like Jason Todd's white tuff, regardless if it only lasted for about 2 issues. Keep doing your thing, Fanart.
25. If you look past the flaws, FF13 isn't that bad. I enjoyed it. Lightning was a good MC.
26. What's a girl gotta do to get some manly ukes/bottoms around here?! It's all just submissive, girly pretty boy content! (Sorry, inner Yaoi Gal talking)
27. Feminism is stupid. Just wanna put that out there.
28. Y'all need to stop making Bruce the bad guy/father in Batfam Fanfics.
29. Alice & Zouroku, After The Rain, Gakuen Babysitters, and Monster are such underrated animes. Different genres, but all so AMAZING.
30. Amber is my least favorite character from Darker Than Black. Change my mind!
31. Jason Griffith was the ideal voice of Sonic The Hedgehog for me. Nothing can prove me otherwise.
32. Katniss didn't deserve Peeta. He's too much of a sweetheart to have kids with that Skank.
33. Percy Jackson needs a TV series. The movies didn't do my treasure justice!
34. Since we're on Percy Jackson, wasn't much of a fan of Percebeth. I love them as separate characters. Together? Meh.
35. I prefer the original, female, flat-chested, in-depth, badass, beautiful Saber in the Fate Series. The other versions can't even compare.
36. Alice from Detroit: Become Human should've been a human girl instead of an android. The weight and beauty of Kara's story is lost, and via replays Alice just becomes a nuisance.
37. Rise Of The Guardians NEED a sequel.
38. Marvel is good at movies. DC is good at animation. That's my gospel truth and I'm sticking with it. Ultimate Spiderman and the Dark Knight Trilogy are the exceptions.
39. I never seen Steven Universe or BHA. Too overrated.
40. Pokemon: I Choose You was the worst Pokemon Movie I've seen. From the lack of Brock & Misty (And Team Rocket. Honestly, where did the original backstory went?) to Pikachu fuckin speaking for the first time.
41. Just because America is indeed not the best country in the world, doesn't mean all other countries are automatically better.
...I know there's more, but this is what I got from the top of my head. Respond however you like. I litted the fire, after all. Heh, it's probably a good conversation starter.

November 2018 -*PlayLi$t of the Month*
The underground sound ain’t playin’ around in 2018.
Over the last few weeks, The Alchemist has received even heavier play than usual through these headphones of mine (I just got the wireless buds from my in-laws, I think I dig them!). That’s thanks in no small part to his fantastic recent contributions to Westside Gunn, Schoolboy Q, Curren$y and Freddie Gibbs. October closed with a powerful flurry of new rap releases, both of the underground and mainstream variety, so I am here to share my favorites on this especially stuffed edition of my PlayLi$t of the Month...
1. “Echo” - Swizz Beatz feat. Nas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMINMawUzow
(Let’s get the obvious out of the way first: this song is *vastly* superior to anything on that ill fated Nasir album with Kanye West. Whatever Swizz whispered to Nas to get him to snap back into Nasty mode, it should stand as further proof that the Ruff Ryder maestro’s status as a cultivator of hits is hall of fame worthy. Hearing the Queensbridge legend spit bars about old New York City life, watching karate films at dirty Time Square movie theaters, watching flashy cars drive up and down Steinway Street in Queens - there’s just no one better than Nasty Nas when he’s off to the races on a wave of nostalgia, thanks to his high attention to detail. DJ Scratch deserves just as much recognition for this sweet soulful back-drop, one of two strong Scratch showings in heavy rotation this month. “Echo” might be one of my favorite rap songs of the year, this is classic Nas.)
2. “'The Blow” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA4dPwtthZU
(Yeah we gotta talk about this FETTI project. The chemistry between Spitta, Gibbs and The Alchemist is off the charts, and that much has been clear since Covert Coup’s “Scottie Pippen” first rattled through speakers back in 2011. So needless to say, this FETTI album bangs top to bottom. My favorite cut off the album might not even be my favorite cut by this time next week, because the whole tape is staying in rotation for the foreseeable future.)
3. “Fork In The Pot” - The Alchemist feat. Conway, Westside Gunn & Schoolboy Q
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPMgi0bSB0Q
(More Uncle Al, you say? What the hell, why not!? Before FETTI dropped on Halloween, this was the stand-out Alchemist leak for the month. The eagerly awaited B-Side to last month’s “94 Ghost Sh*t” A-Side that was teased on IG some time ago, “Fork In The Pot” is another incredible contribution to the growing ALC & Griselda canon, helped by a dope verse by Schoolboy Q that is sure to build hype for his upcoming album. Will it drop in 2018? All speculation at this point, but I say YES.)
4. “Saturday Night Special” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9sv1psKaIgU
(More than any other track on FETTI, this one feels like classic Alchemist. A smokey loop like this one does indeed paint the perfect image of slowly cruising through the neighborhood on a late Saturday night, perhaps with a Saturday night special somewhere in the vehicle...or so I imagine - I myself have never lived that life, but the music is vivid, and the mood set by The Alchemist is palpable. What a great example of how the best producers don’t just make beats, they paint audio portraits. And like the lyrics themselves, the instrumental is, well, instrumental in telling the story.)
5. “N***as In Puerto Rico” - Westside Gunn feat. Lord Flee & Benny
https://soundcloud.com/westsidegunn/niggas-in-puerto-rico-feat-lord-flee-benny?in=westsidegunn/sets/hitler-wears-hermes-6
(Folks, I really didn’t plan this, Alchemist is just that damn good! My favorite song off of Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 6 - wow, I can’t believe he’s up to 6 now - shows exactly what happens when these lyrical barbarians from Buffalo lock themselves down with The Alchemist in Puerto Rico for a while. Look out for the beat switch-up, as both instrumentals suit this gathering of MCs particularly well, making me that much more excited about what Al may have cooked up for Benny’s upcoming Tana Talk 3 album.)
6. “Something Dirty/Pic Got Us” - Swizz Beatz feat. Jadakiss, Styles P. & Kendrick Lamar
https://pitchfork.com/levels/swizz-beatz-something-dirty-pic-got-us-new-song-listen/
(While it might not pack the level of punch that fans hoped it would when Swizz first teased it live on stage a few months back - or even have an actual verse from Kendrick - Jadakiss & Styles P’s appearance on Mr. Beatz’ new Poison compilation remains one of the tape’s finer moments. Hearing Jada & SP pass the mic back and forth never seems to get old, plus this AraabMUZIK beat is still absolutely bonkers.)
7. “Willie Lloyd” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-7h0Dkz6b0
(It has felt like too long since I have shouted out an Alchemist joint, am I right? "Willie Lloyd’s” ominous instrumental makes for the ideal palette to have Gangsta Gibbs flex over, and flex he does, making it one of many stand-out verses on FETTI.)
8. “John Bena” - Westside Gunn feat. Lil Eto
https://soundcloud.com/westsidegunn/john-bena-feat-lil-eto?in=westsidegunn/sets/hitler-wears-hermes-6
(Yikes, this beat is pure menace music! And who produced it? None other than The Alchemist’s mentor, DJ Muggs, who has had quite an impressive year in his own right. Let the record show that both Westside Gunn and Eto do their thing on “John Bena”, which is no easy feat considering how overwhelming this instrumental could potentially be to weaker MCs. Furthermore, I feel like it needs to be said at this point that Westside Gunn is a VERY dope MC with his own style, traits that are not easy to come by in today’s biz. He raps his ass off on HWH6, so don’t think for a minute that WSG is carried by beats, he is not a replaceable presence on any track. So go cop that HWH6.)
9. “Location Remote” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUAawyYs0uk
(A tape like FETTI warrants a cool, but eerie, intro track...and this fits the bill perfectly. I love the whole project, but I love this specific song more and more whenever I hear it. “Call the chiropractor” indeed, Mr. Gibbs - this joint is heavy.)
10. “Flipmode Squad Meets The Conglomerate” - Busta Rhymes feat. The Flipmode Squad & The Conglomerate
https://www.vibe.com/2018/10/busta-rhymes-flipmode-conglomerate-reunion-single/
(Remember when I mentioned DJ Scratch earlier? Well this massive posse cut is part of this month’s 1-2 punch of Scratch production, lucky us! Here he channels classic Busta vibes for not just one, but two of Busta’s rhyme crews to slap around for a bit. What I really like about this song is that they all sound like they’re having fun here, which is not as common as I would like it to be in today’s posse cut starved rap market. Hopefully this means DJ Scratch will make his presence felt on that upcoming Busta album!)
*Bonus - Honorable Mention [extended edition]*
“Niagara Cafe” - Westside Gunn
https://soundcloud.com/westsidegunn/niagara-cafe?in=westsidegunn/sets/hitler-wears-hermes-6
“Tapatio” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJHxFVZfAC0
“Grim Seasons - Homeboy Sandman & Edan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umff7Hael9k
“Skeleton Piñata” - HAZE & SPNDA feat. Puffy
https://dutchmastered.bandcamp.com/track/skeleton-pi-ata-feat-puffy
“Militant Exercise” - Knowledge The Pirate feat. Roc Marciano
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIlyUJ7Oyb8
“REDBLUE” - Rapsody feat. J.I.D
https://www.hotnewhiphop.com/jid-and-rapsody-face-the-conundrum-of-choosing-up-on-redblue-new-song.1981003.html
“Hooters” - Tee Grizzley
https://soundcloud.com/tee-grizzley/hooters
“Money” - Cardi B
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj2cK8wymIA
“Man Law” - Masta Ace feat. Styles P

Jets football is back! That's right NFL kicked off last Thursday to boos
Not that kind of booze
The kind of boos you hear when conservatives see men Unite
For the Jets it's never too early for boos especially after Sunday's performance against the Bills
Just when I was feeling good about life here come the New York Football Jets to ruin me
New York Jets GM Joe Douglas says the team is angered by low expectations
You've been with the team 2 years and you're already complaining? Try being a fan 40 years
The only thing lower than my expectations are Le'Veon Bell's yards per carry
Luckily for him tho, his rap album did numbers
Here's something Joe Douglas should be angered by, Jets have more Quarterbacks on the roster than healthy WRs
Hopefully one of those Quarterbacks can play Wide Receiver
Cause Pretty soon Sam Darnold is just gonna be throwing to himself
With all the Quarterbacks on the roster, It appears Adam Gase is designing a new offensive set called the What would Peyton Manning do
Fans are hoping all 5 Quarterbacks can Just End The Season
The Jets started the season with just a handful of healthy wide receivers and three tight ends
And throughout Jets history there's no end tighter than Brandon Moore's
The Jets have so many injuries at Wide Receiver that Braxton Berrios skipped practice because he was afraid to get hurt
The injury list at Wide Receiver is so long, it reads like a list of things you can buy with a PPP Loan…
Speaking of which Former Jets WR Josh Bellamy was released right into the hands of the feds who charged him in a $24 million coronavirus loan scheme
Bellamy allegedly received more than $1.2 million dollars in loans for his company Drip Entertainment LLC which was spent mostly on DRIP from Gucci and Dior
Hopefully some of that money drips into his commissary
The thing I love most about this is that he's not selfish. He genuinely tried to put his family on.
That's like a classy hood sou sou
How you proposition your friends and family for something like that?
Son, remember the insurance scams from back in the day? We about to 10X that shit
Fortunately, none of that money was used to purchase the drip for Mekhi Becton's Big Ticket medallion The chain cost 175 thousand, it has a kilo of gold and 120 carats of flawless white diamonds
The chain is good for one admission to the pawn shop when that Rookie Contract is up
175 thousand is a lot of money. You know what I could do with 175 thousand? I can pay people to watch this channel
A few weeks ago, clueless New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, who also serves as President Donald Trump's ambassador to the United Kingdom, was investigated by the State Department for allegedly making racist and sexist comments
I say allegedly, but you know when Kamala Harris was chosen as Biden's VP Woody Johnson was like, ‘When I go to the White house, there's gonna be a bunch of black bitches there?’
That story just disappeared faster than an Adam Gase offense
The State Department called him a "valued member of the team" and added: "We stand by Ambassador Johnson and look forward to him continuing to ensure our special relationship with the UK.
This is sounds just like the vote of confidence his brother Christopher Johnson has given to his head coach
Granted, Gase has never publicly said anything racist or sexist but his play calling is offensive
Mike Greenberg, dressed like Morris Day going to an Apollonia 6 concert tore into Christopher Johnson on Get Up after Johnson made some whack ass statement about Adam Gase having a brilliant offensive mind
Has Christopher Johnson not watched ANY of the games? I know it’s hard to watch games with all that baby oil money stacked in front of the TV But what is he watching?
It literally looks like Adam Gase is calling plays designed by Ted Lasso's waterboy… and that’s disrespectful to the waterboy because at least they scored
I’m against people losing their job but, people lose their job every day B, he be aight

Lai Guanlin - School-AU!
First proper Scenario, here we go!
Word Count: 984
It was the beginning of the new school year, and seeing as though it was the final year of high school, it was strange to have a new guy starting.
He introduced himself as Guanlin, a student from Taipei needing experience in overseas school life
He’s one of his school’s best English speakers and was studying international culture
He sat on the desk a few away from you and you couldn’t help but see how tall and kind of intimidating he was
me: a smol
Your teacher needed someone to give him a tour around the grounds
You put yourself forward to do so and grabbed your bag ready to leave
Guanlin’s height seems intimidating at first, but when he gives you a shy gummy smile as you walk around, that flies out the window
As you show him round the various departments, he tells you about himself
He likes to rap, he knows 3 languages fluently, wants to cook but honestly can’t and likes all sports pretty much
You: a dance and music student, love his interests too and hit it off pretty much instantly
when you finish looking around, its time for the first period of the day
both of you have biology so head there together
He’s sat next to you on the edge of the bench since you’re the only person he knows at this point
He becomes your best friend really quickly
He’s insanely popular with everyone but he doesn’t ever leave you alone
In the good way
He’s somehow in the football, rugby and basketball teams in school, all while managing to keep up with all his language, music and other work
It’s been months since he started your school and his english has improved massively, not that it needed to
Exam season was coming up, but you two weren’t too bothered since your grades are okay too
study dates
cafe sessions
being cute supportive
helping each other with everything
generally being good students that want to do well in life
You had no idea what you wanted to do in life, just something performing
whereas Guanlin was set on becoming a multi-national show host in China, Korea and UK/USA
He wasn’t sure whether to continue studying overseas or go back to Taipei for college
Since it was the final year: Prom was coming up
your other friends knew that you and Guanlin had been dancing around each other for many months now, cute looks when the other wasn’t watching, constantly checking up on each other, never being separated when out of lesson
You were on the prom committee and the group had decided on the theme as “masquerade”
All the girls were excited to get dates and get their makeup done professionally
The boys just thought it was a good night to impress the girls in a new suit
You didn’t exactly have plans for prom, you just thought you’d tag along with friends and have a good time in your group
but quite a few of them already had dates they were planning on spending the night with
2 weeks before prom:
Now Guanlin... he didn’t have plans either, not yet at least
He was working up the courage to ask a girl there by putting a letter on her desk asking her to meet him when you came into class
“Oooh Guanlin why are you sneaking around?”
“Ah-Uh I was just gonna give a girl this letter i guess”
“Is it a confession letter?”
“Something like that”
Your face fell for a second but you didn’t want him to know that you were upset in any way
“Good luck Guanlin”
It was 5 days to prom and he still hadn’t asked anyone about accompanying him
You two were casually hanging out at your house playing video games when he asked
“Hey uh, y/n are you taking anyone to prom?”
“No i haven’t been asked by anyone”
“Well then, will you go with me? As my date?”
After a 10 second brain shut-down you looked up at him
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, well we can just go as friends if you want to, i don’t mind that as well but i’ve kindaalwayslikedyouandreallywannagowithy-”
You stopped him mid-ramble with a kiss on his lips
“Of course I’ll go with you, dummy”
You turned away from him and back to the game so that he wouldn’t see the blush creeping up your cheeks
Not that it mattered, he was just as red
When prom came you had matching colours
You had a deep red dress and matching lace mask, he had a deep red tie and red silk plain mask
You two, your friends and their dates all sat at the table for the meal, giving you guys smug looks
The night goes incredibly well and the final slow dance had all the couples on the floor
You and Guanlin were pretty much in the centre of the dance floor
“You realise how much i practiced to try and impress you tonight?”
“Guanlin there’s no point in doing that, I know how dumb you can be”
The song finished and everyone started to leave
There was an after party at one of the guys houses but neither of you wanted to go
You headed back to your house and just collapsed onto the bed after getting changed
After wearing high heels for a solid 5 hours, your feet were officially dead
The two of you fell asleep like that, just sprawled out on the bed
When you woke up you’d both made your way under the covers
your face was buried in Guanlin’s shoulder and made it hard to wake up
But him moving around brought you back to your senses
“Hey, y/n”
Sleepy voiced Guanlin... damn
“Hmm”
“Will you be my girlfriend”
“Of course dummy”
Lets just say your mum was overly ecstatic for the two of you

Dish for Effectiveness: Could Duets Be Gaining Elements for Brandy and also Bryson Tiller at 2020 Grammys? - Rated R&B
At the 62nd Annual Grammy Honors this Sunday, H.E.R. as well as Daniel Caesar are actually completing for their 2nd gain in the most effective R&B Efficiency group.
The 2 R&B stars succeeded in 2014 for their double-platinum duet "Highlight," which showed up on Caesar's Grammy-nominated debut album and also on H.E.R.'s Grammy-winning self-titled compilation. However, this year, H.E.R.
as well as Caesar will definitely go head-to-head in the Best R&B Efficiency nationality for their very own corresponding partnerships. Caesar's salute is for "Affection Again,"a well-layered duet including the powerful vocalist Brandy. In the meantime, H.E.R. is actually hoping to court interest for her sensation single"Could possess Been" including Bryson Tiller. While taking residence the greatest R&B Functionality respect for either H.E.R. or Caesar would certainly better confirm they are at the best of their game, it can potentially shift the future focus of the Audio Academy and also other industry insiders on their duet companions. The Audio Institute possesses possessed its portion of disputable snubs along with Grammy nominations. It was absolutely no various when the 2017 nods were actually introduced. Tiller, who to begin with observed excellence in 2015 for his smash hit "Don't,"made his very first nomination for his consequence solitary"Exchange."Seeming on his 2015 T R A P S O U L debut, the Mekanics-produced keep track of was up for Finest R&B Tune at the 59th Yearly Grammy Honors; nevertheless, the track dropped against"
Pond Due To The Ocean" through Maxwell. , Tiller didn't have any various other opportunity to gain a Grammy that evening, as he was actually just chosen for one award. As one of the brightest celebrities of 2016, it was unbelievably baffling to find that he had not been looked at a Greatest Brand new Performer challenger. Many unexpected was the glaring omission of his T R A P S O U L cd in the most ideal Urban Contemporary Cd operating, despite its own launch within the eligibility time period and its fast-track to platinum eagle condition before the
2017 ceremony. Besides a hit RIAA qualification, the album welcomed however an additional sub-genre of R&B that remains to be embraced through newcomers and also created musicians. A year later on, however, it seemed that a Grammy remained in Tiller's clutch with
the outstanding summertime struck" Wild Thoughts."The dance-flavored collabo, which includes Rihanna as well as DJ Khaled, proved a hit, earning positionings on numerous around the world charts, including topping the UK Songs Graph and also the variety 2 place on the Advertising board Hot one hundred. The worldwide sensation and its own very hot popular music video recording obtained crazy elections and wins at different honor shows, such as the MTV Online Video Music Honors and also the iHeartRadio Songs Awards. Still, along with all its mainstream focus,"Wild Feelings"really did not leave behind a score on Audio Academy recommending participants that left behind the keep track of out
of all expected Grammy categories, a lot of significantly Song of the Year as well as Greatest Rap/Sung Performance. Brushed off again at winning his initial Grammy, Tiller as well as his co-stars applied enjoyable faces as well as shook the crowd along with an impressive functionality of the horrendous file at the 60th Yearly Grammy Honors. After a few years of experiencing the cool shoulder by the Audio Academy, Tiller can be a shoo-in for his 1st prize in the greatest R&B Efficiency classification. Featured on H.E.R.'s first EP installation in August 2018,"Could possibly've Been actually"instantly came to be a fan-favorite. The thumping slow bind discovers the two vocalists meshing their distinct voice methods to coo regarding
the opportunities of a missed out on romance. Taking over the on the metropolitan adult contemporary airwaves and also the Signboard Adult R&B Tracks graph, specifically, the D'Mile-produced track soon shot to on both graphes in front of the summer season. The standard R&B chart victories were actually firsts for Tiller, who discovered much of his well-deserving success on the metropolitan airplay face. Past the compelling graph splendor," Can've Been "came to be for each H.E.R. and Tiller.
Once he is actually recommended once more, alongside a brand-new Grammy favorite, factors are actually looking up for the snare soul hitmaker. And also while Tiller as well as H.E.R.'s duet could possibly take the very best R&B Functionality trophy, Brandy and also Caesar are actually conveniently an unbeatable pair, very. The Singing Bible, who prepares her highly-anticipated 7th album, is inching closer to her best possibility in 15 years at gaining
her 2nd Grammy, along with assistance coming from the group's previous champion Caesar. The Audio Academy has rejected a number of music's finest artists, like Brandy, for time and opportunity once more, leaving behind numerous supposing what the requirements to win the gold is. Throughout her 25-year occupation, the vocal acrobat has actually been actually a total amount of 12 times. At the 41st Yearly Grammy Honors, she scored four elections-- the absolute most of
her career in one night-- for her sophomore cd Never ever Point out Certainly never. She left the 1999 service with her only profession Grammy for her duet"The Child is actually Mine" with Monica. Her 2002 cd Complete Moon and also the 2004
consequence Afrodisiac each slashed nods Best Contemporary R&B Cd, an honor that signed up with the R&B range in 2003. Even between 2005 and also 2014, Brandy hasn't arrested one nomination for her
last final pair ofCds Human, Two Pair Of ). Having actually not found a salute in 15 years is actually pretty complicated to a B-Rocka follower. In 2012, she discharged, a showpiece that was entitled to a Finest Urban Contemporary Cd nomination for her innovative vocal methods as well as the audios notable production as well as impressive songwriting at the 56th Yearly Grammy Awards in 2014
. Adding healthy and balanced competition to the most effective Stand out Solo Functionality group for "Without You "and also responds for Best R&B Functionality and Ideal R&B Tune for her Chris Brown-assisted&chart-topper"Put It Down"wouldn't have been poor either. Labels should be periodically advised to adequately provide its performers 'job to respectivegroups,
while the Audio Institute's voting participants possess to in fact choose champions based upon genuine ability and also not name recognition. Thinking about Brandy's 2019 Absolute best R&B Performance nod, it seems that both the label-- Golden Kid Recordings and also Label Nu, Inc/Entertainment One-- and also the Audio Academy reside in deal on musicianship this go-round.
"A considerable amount of the time when I went through not being actually able to receive my songs to the masses, it is actually because I was actually vocalizing the wrong&tracks,"."Yeah, I can easily make a tune sound great. But if I don't strongly believe in the track, then it's certainly not visiting go anywhere." Her belief in the"Love Again"
duet along with Caesar went somewhere. Discharged first as a track on Caesar's second effort, their wonderful relationship was likewise functioned as the top solitary off Brandy's upcoming album. A month after its own landing, the awesome tune regarding sophisticated relationships on the Advertising board Adult R&B Tracks graph. It became her highest graphing solitary on the respective chart in twenty years, as "Almost Doesn't Count"topped at No. 2 in 1999. A week just before the 2020 Grammy nominations were revealed,"Passion Again "rose to the first location on the Adult R&B Tracks graph
, leading in her very first chart-topper on the chart. Brandy has been possessing a job resurgence such as awards. She was actually bestowed the in 2016. She got the at the 2018 Urban Honors. In 2013, she took
house the. Picking up her second Grammy isn't difficult this year. Furthermore, if Brandy carries out succeed, it can likely place her and her upcoming album to acquire much Grammy love at the 2021 event-- if her brand new job is launched during the course of the qualification duration.
Depending on to her upgraded Twitter bio, a February album release is actually right now the hearsay . That pointed out, Brandy could possibly even possess some of the greatest nights in music like her fellow '90s sisters Mariah Carey(2006)and Mary J. Blige( 2007). While citizens might seemingly lag either"Could possibly've Been"or
" Affection Again, "the Finest R&B Functionality ethnicity is actually still a difficult type. Other candidates consist of, who is the very most nominated performer this year. The breakout celebrity of 2019 is actually up for"Precisely Exactly How I Experience"
with Gucci Locks. The unfazed track seems on her extremely lauded album. R&B newbie remains in the competing"Roll Some Mo,"an additional D'Mile-produced cut. The keep track of is actually included on Daye's debut, which is actually additionally up for Ideal R&B Album. Additionally aspect of the competition is actually, that gained his initial
trophy last year in a rap area. The periodic rapper/singer is actually recommended for "Come Residence" with. Co-produced by Jairus"J.Mo" Mozee, the pleading partnership shows up on.Paak's R&B-hefty album. To find who the Best R&B Show Grammy mosts likely towhen the pouch levels, check out the 62nd Annual Grammy Honors live on Sunday, January 26 at 8 p.m. SHOCK THERAPY/ 5 p.m. PST. DJ Jazzy Jeff
Jeffrey Allen Townes (born January 22, 1965), also known as DJ Jazzy Jeff or simply Jazz, is an American hip hop and R&B disc jockey, record producer, turntablist and actor who is best known for his early career with Will Smith as DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince.
Biography
Early life and career beginnings
Jeffrey Allen Townes was born on January 22, 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Early on, he developed a reputation and a following as a school and block party DJ. He took the stage name DJ Jazzy Jeff and was one half of the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince along with Will Smith. The group received the first Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in 1989 for "Parents Just Don't Understand", though their most successful single was "Summertime" which earned the group their second Grammy and peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Acting
When Smith branched out into television with the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Jazzy Jeff played a recurring character named Jazz, Smith's best friend on the show. In the early seasons, the two characters always greeted each other with their signature handshake (swinging mid-five, point-back, snap with both characters saying "Pssh!"). A recurring joke throughout the show's run involved the character being physically ejected from the house by Uncle Phil (James Avery), using the same footage for comedic effect.
Music
One of the first records Jazzy Jeff ever appeared on was with The Korner Boyz (Street Artz Records) "Bust The Move and The Soga of Roxanne", which featured legendary Philadelphia rapper, MC Parry P and Grand Tone. The Instrumental was called "Jazzy Jeff Scratch" (1985). DJ Jazzy Jeff along with DJ Cash Money is credited with making the transformer scratch famous.
As a duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince had several gold and platinum-selling albums and singles in the late 1980s and early 1990s, earning them the first rap Grammy Award ever presented in 1989 for "Parents Just Don't Understand." They also won a second Grammy for "Summertime".
After DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince broke up, Townes went on to become a prominent R&B, soul, and neo soul record producer, establishing the A Touch of Jazz production company in his native Philadelphia. Among the artists that Jazzy Jeff has helped develop are Eric Roberson, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Eminem, The Roots, Jewel, Darius Rucker, Talib Kweli, Floetry, Rhymefest, and many more. Even though he separated from Will Smith as a music partner, they are still friends, and occasionally work together.
Some songs by Smith were produced by Townes (including “Here He Comes"), and he has performed on some songs by Smith such as "So Fresh" and "Potnas." In addition, he appeared in several of Smith's music videos such as "Will2K" and "Freakin' It". On some occasions, he made appearances with Smith at live concerts, producing DJ scratches. On July 2, 2005, DJ Jazzy Jeff performed with Smith at the Live 8 concert in Philadelphia. Moreover, Smith acknowledges him in his music such as "Comin' To The Stage" from the album Lost and Found and "Potnas" from his album Willennium.
His 2007 release The Return of the Magnificent featured numerous collaborations with old school and new school artists including CL Smooth, Big Daddy Kane, Pos from De La Soul, Method Man, Peedi Peedi (a remake of Brand New Funk), Rhymefest, and Raheem DeVaughn. In 2007, he appeared with Rhymefest in a video directed by Konee Rok, in which he makes music in his home recording studio with Rhymefest.
In 2008, Townes performed with Smith at the premiere of the latter's 2008 film Hancock.
In 2009, he made a mixtape titled He's the King...I'm the DJ in honor of the late entertainer Michael Jackson. Townes was featured in the video game DJ Hero as a playable character. He also has some original mixes in the game.
In 2010, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Mick (formerly known as Mick Boogie) teamed up to release the Summertime mix-tape series. The mixes are released every summer.
In 2013, DJ Jazzy Jeff performed with Will Smith on the Graham Norton Show. Also that same year, DJ Jazzy Jeff released Vinyl Destination, a web series documenting his hundred plus DJ shows from all around the world.
In 2015, he performed the scratch overdubs for the film Straight Outta Compton.

New on Netflix: September 2020 Releases
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
September marks the start of the traditional TV season. For many networks and cable channels, however, this will be an usual season with the coronavirus pandemic halting production leaving behind paltry fall lineups. Over on Netflix, however, things continue to operate at high capacity.
Netflix is rolling out quite a few original series and movies for its new releases in September 2020. The Hillary Swank-starring space drama Away premieres on September 4. That is followed by a whole host of intriguing concepts including Julie and the Phantoms (Sept. 10), Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Sept. 18), and even the Nurse Ratched origin story series called Ratched (Sept. 18).
The film side of things is just as packed. Romantic comedy Love, Guaranteed premieres on Sept. 3, Charlie Kaufman’s latest effort I’m Thinking of Ending Things arrives on Sept. 4, and the Tom Holland-starring thriller The Devil All the Time bows on Sept. 16. That’s not even to mention Enola Holmes on Sept. 23.
As the number of Netflix originals swell, the library offerings dry up a bit. Of note this month is pretty much just the Back to the Future franchise on Sept. 1 and The Good Place season 4 on Sept. 26. Still, there are more hours of content this month than anyone will know what to do with.
Here are the rest of Netflix’s new releases for September 2020.
