Fellas, is it just me or was no one normal about Legend of Prince Rama? Like, my mother was obsessed with it and would watch it constantly before she got married, my sister would also constantly watch it and even made a song/rap of Kumbhakarna's name (my father even joked that he would wake up hearing it play and go to sleep hearing it play, I too was obsessed with it, one of my friends was also obsessed with the movie and I wouldn't be surprised if she broke the tape for it. No one around me except for one person liked this movie a normal amount, everyone was just obsessed and watched it constantly. Desis is this true for all of you as well because I swear to Ram Bhagavan himself that so many people I know were like this
@prettykittytanjiro @dawniedrella fellas help-

My thoughts after seeing Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama
Rama and Lakshman are the best brothers ever (also Rama literally killed multiple demons with divine weapons as a teenager and that’s honestly more than I accomplished at 15)
Sita has Disney Princess powers
“I will cleave your filthy brain in two!” is not a line I expected to hear from a PG rated movie
Bharata is underrated
Surpanakha needs therapy (and a nose job)
Why is Maricha kinda- 😏
Ravana seriously needs to keep it in his pants (I was mentally shaking his shoulders and yelling “when will you learn that your actions have consequences!?” at him the entire time)
Rama furiously declaring he’ll hunt Ravana to the ends of the universe and then Lakshman just casually telling him to calm down was way funnier than it had any right to be
RIP Jatayu
The sentient mountain turning out to be a demigod literally felt like an NPC side quest in a fantasy RPG
Hanuman is the GOAT
I love how Jambavan just randomly drops the bombshell on Hanuman that he has divine powers, also his voice is weirdly amusing
Hanuman gets swallowed by a sea serpent, then promptly chops the thing up into sushi
Ravana’s giving off vaguely yandere vibes and I’m all here for it
Hanuman introducing himself to Sita with a beautiful song legit warmed my heart so much, he’s so wholesome
Ravana filing his nails while listening to Hanuman’s speech only to be like “kill him” was darkly hilarious
“alright, but set fire to his tail first, then let him go home” Ravana WTH-
Then Hanuman subsequently commits arson and burns down half the city of Lanka (cue the theme from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia)
I have only known Vibhishana for a minute and a half but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself /j
Bridge building montage woohooo
Why do all the rakshasas sound either animalistic or flamboyant?
Speaking of which, there’s no way Indrajit is straight, no man who wears indigo eyeshadow, a crop top, no trousers and knee high boots isn’t at least a little bit bent
“Oh, what a nuisance! This is bothering me!” Ah yes, just how I’d describe being in the middle of a battle between literal demons and very floofy monkeys
Rama’s speech about respecting life was genuinely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard
Kumbhakarna is the best boi
Kumbhakarna is the best round sleepy boi in the history of everything
His sons were absolute badasses and their deaths made me sad (not at all helped by his heartbroken expression when he found out)
I love how it literally took being waterboarded to wake up this giant
Vibhishana just casually mentioning to Rama that Kumbhakarna would become immortal after sleeping for SIX WHOLE MONTHS
Literally everything about Kumbhakarna is immensely endearing to me in a way I cannot explain, I just wanna smoosh his cheeks and feed him strawberry mochi, also he so ROUND
Kumbhakarna, don’t eat the Vanaras ffs
Kumbhakarna getting increasingly frustrated by the flying demons buzzing around him like mosquitoes should become a meme/reaction gif, purely because of how he yells “yOu ArE aNnOyInG mE!” at them
*two strikes of a divine sword later* NUUUUU MY BABYYYYY 😭
“I wish I’d known him as a friend, Vibhishana” that’s it, happy AU where everybody lives and they’re all besties let’s gooooo *crying inside*
The way Ravana’s voice quakes when he hears he’s now sans a brother 🥺
Indrajit is horrible but I love him
HANUMAN JUST AIRLIFTED A FUCKING MOUNTAIN HOLY SMOKES-
Omgggg an aerial battle this is so cool- INDRAJIT NOOOOO
RAVANA WHERE DID YOU GET AN AEROPLANE???
Yikes, Ravana, you’re really laying on the body horror here 😳
Awww Rama and Sita are together again yayyyy
Yasssss happy ending we love to see it!
Why are they flying to the moon in a glittering gold helicopter???
Basically, I love this movie and everything about it, especially Kumbhakarna 💞
(Also for the record I mean absolutely no disrespect by any of this)

So, apparently Princess Iron Fan achieved a human form? Was there any information on what her demon form looked like?
It’s hard to say… For many of the female demons they are described as more human as the illusion they put on is to look more beautiful. In most cases, this is to lure men in and they can eat them better. However in the case of Princess Iron Fan, because she is already so close to human already (suggesting her human form isn't an illusion) we never get to see what she was like as a Rakshasa.
You would see that it is common for female demons to put more effort into appearing human-like due to their nature of tricking their prey into a false sense of security. Not all female demons so this but this is a common tactic. While they do appear more human-like this doesn't mean that they are 'human' however.
I talked about this before but demon forms are still just an illusion from years of cultivating, they choose how the world sees them. And oftentimes they are more skilled/cultivated they are the most human they can appear. A lot of demons can appear human through transformation but they still have their 'real' form that is more of their humanoid demon form.
This is saying that Princess Iron Fan is different as she is NOT making her body LOOK more human. Her naturally cultivated body is at near human as she could be. Because now her actually cultivated body is NEAR human she doesn't have to use transformations like other lesser demons do (like for example Yellow Robe Demon or Lion Lynx Demon).
Personally, when I think of Rakshasa I think of Shurpanakha from the epic Ramayana. Specfically from the Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama (1993) movie cause that was my first time watching anything Hanuman related.
This is clearly a more kid-friendly form but I wouldn't suggest looking up different Rakshasa form in Hindu mythos if you are really curious! That might help you get more insight on what she could have looked like before she started to become near-human/achieved human form.

Kumbhakarna: *sleeping like a log, snoring raucously*
Me: awwww look at the sleepy baby
Kumbhakarna: *stomping onto the battlefield and sending the vanaras fleeing in abject terror*
Me: awwww here comes the boy he so cute
Kumbhakarna: *literally trying to devour a handful of soldiers*
Me: awwww baby go nom nom
Kumbhakarna: *throws some of his fellow rakshasas into a mob of vanaras and then laughs when they subsequently get beaten to a pulp*
Me: awwww who’s the best boy? Who’s the sweetest boy with the most smooshable cheeks? Is it you? Yes it is *smooshes his cheeks while making sickeningly cute baby talk noises*

Is wukong’s relationship with tripitaka similar to hanuman and rama (but down to earth of course)
I really can’t say for certain myself as I haven’t read the Ramayana and the only real Hanuman media I've seen is the 1993 Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama.
youtube
It was a really great watch!
From what I can tell Hanuman was a pillar of loyalty and trust when it comes to Rama, he never gives up on him and goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to helping his endeavors to save his wife. That can be reflected in how Wukong is loyal to Sanzang in that regard as well. Wukong goes all over the world, heaven, hell, wherever when it comes to finding something or someone that can save Sanzang from whatever demon they are facing at the time.
The biggest difference though is that Hanuman never had to really go through a whole character arc (at least not that I saw, might have been cute from the movie), rather he follows Rama because of the honor and respect he has for while the other while Wukong was on the start of his own journey to better himself on his parole. Wukong is still unruly by the start of the journey and also almost kills Sanzang on sight, not to mention the trust they built took years to get to the level of what I think Hanuman and Rama had.
I hope that I can get the time to read the Ramayana soon! I've been hearing nothing but good things! But until then I hope to find more great media about the character.
