PM Modi on Thursday accused Congress government in Rajasthan of being “sympathetic to terrorists”, and said that the appeasing nature of the ruling party can prove lethal to the state. He also said that the frequently occurring terror incidents, including the murder of Kanhaiya Lal last year, are incidents that could harm the heritage of the state.

During an election rally in Udaipur, while addressing the crowd, PM Modi said, “The terror act in which Kanhaiya Lal was killed in Udaipur is a blot on the Congress government. This heinous crime took place because a party that sympathizes with terrorists is in power.”

The number of such shameful acts in the recent time in Rajasthan has been high, he added.

On June 28, 2022, the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal made national news headlines. It was a revenge crime where two assassins murdered the tailor for showing support to BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who had made contentious remarks earlier.

PM Modi also addressed the state government's decision to impose a ban on the Ram Navami procession and Kanwar Yatra while allowing the Popular Front of India (PFI) to hold rallies. “Who would have thought that such a situation would arise here… The Congress government has committed this sin,” he said.

Mr. Modi also addressed the issue of migration wherein it has been noticed that several people from the poor areas of the state are moving to other states. The PM said that if Congress remained in power, more people would migrate, vacating Rajasthan.

Finally, counting Congress’s list of failures, Modi said, “In the fight for the chair, Congress lost sight of public issues”. “The sole agenda of the Congress is to loot the State and fill its coffers. The party could not survive without corruption,” he added.

Indian government criticizes the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for its ‘Ram Navami’ remark

India has criticized the recent comment made by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation or OIC about the incident on Ram Navami and said that it is "one more example of their communal mindset and anti-India agenda".

The foreign ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi condemned the statement and alleged that the Muslim community targeted several Indian states during the festivities of Ram Navami. "OIC only does its reputation damage by being consistently manipulated by anti-India forces," he said.

Earlier, the general secretariat of the OIC gave a statement wherein he expressed his concerns at "acts of violence and vandalism targeting (the) Muslim community in several states in India during the Ram Navami processions".

The statement highlighted a few incidents including one of the torching of a madrasa by a mob in Bihar Sharif on March 31. The statement alleged that India is promoting "Islamophobia".

On Ram Navami last week, several states in India witnessed violence states including Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The government has also criticized OIC's "unwarranted references" to Jammu and Kashmir.

Seema Pujani, the First Secretary of India's Permanent Mission in Geneva at the Human Rights Council on March 31 said, OIC has "let Pakistan hijack and misuse its platform for carrying out its nefarious agenda of engaging in malicious propaganda against India," 

"The fact is that the entire territories of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been, are, and shall always be part of India. Pakistan is in illegal occupation of Indian territory," she added.

The foreign ministry spokesperson further added that the OIC has lost its credibility by giving such statements and promoting partisan and factually incorrect approaches to national issues.
