incredibly happy for ralf schumacher feeling comfortable enough to come out & obviously incredibly important for the sport but let‘s not forget who was there before him.

mike beuttler, who never felt comfortable enough to come out & lella lombardi, who not only made history by being the only woman to ever get points in f1 but also being openly gay.

regardless of your opinions on Ralf Schumacher, whether you like him or not, him coming out is an extremely brave thing, in such a predominantly heterosexual sport. this is a huge thing and it may help other people in motorsports to accept themselves and to feel like they don't have to hide their true self. please be kind and supportive <3

I was never really a fan of Ralf Schumacher (and some of his takes are quite wild) but I’m so happy for him that he’s in a position where he feels comfortable to come out publicly, and wants to do that.

I wish him and his partner all the best, and I hope that this helps more LGBT+ drivers in the future.

This is such an unprecedented moment for this sport, at such an important time. I can only hope F1 at large lives up to the values it says it champions, and welcomes this news as the step forward it is.

In any case, Ralf opened a door that can't be closed anymore. May there be many people walking through it after him.
