Finally got around to finishing this houugh... it was a lot of work but I really like the end result!! Naturally, I'll try my best to list some of the thoughts I have in mind for these guys below. Long post ahead!
These lizards are intended to be ALMOST fully arthropod-like but due to my lack of understanding of bug anatomy and creative liberties, they are in that gray spec bio area so don't take any inconsistencies too seriously (or rather, fuck logic, and accept them how I describe them regardless)
Inspirations: - my lesser detailed lizard design - my friend's slugcats - wasps for the head contours, various insects for the exoskeleton guidelines, caterpillars, various stylistic slugcats across the #rainworld tag - the burning need for something more detailed and cool in my drawing vocabulary
The actual meat of the post; extra facts: - Lizards are related to slugcats (in my au, if you wanna call it that?) or at least the very early version of them. This idea is borrowed from this post and in my au, lizards evolve a similar tail to a slugcat's to aid in propelling themselves through tight spaces, acting as a 5th limb. - Similar to my old vulture post, lizards share a similar lifecycle. The majority of the larval stage is spent underground and in tight spots, far from their main predator. Lizard larva will undergo pupation similar to how beetles do, leaving behind broken cavities in pipes where carnivorous plants favor to take root. Additionally to the vulture's terrible parental drive, they often mistake their own larva for lizard hatchlings. - A lizard's skin is leathery and retains moisture for quite a while. Some lizards have a thicker layered mantle than others, allowing them to take punctures to the abdomen and still recover. - Not pictured, but will be described, are a few outliers to the standard lizard body plan. Caramels have muscular hind legs akin to a grasshopper but this means their legs cannot slot together and thus they have a wider leg splay than other species. Eels and salamanders are not lizards but lizard mimics. Yellow lizards' antennae attach to a hump on the snout rather than the rear of the head as seen here. Cyan lizards' mantles are more square shaped due to their leap drums on either side of their bodies and have a 3rd mantle that runs the length of their tail and caps the tailtip. - Cyan lizard's organs are called leap drums and act similarly to our lungs. They are a ring of muscle which contracts and acts as a spring loaded mechanism to propel the creature via combustion through a mysterious chemical process. Because the color of debris left behind during a leap share the same color as the lizard, perhaps they are discarded scales, formerly in place to protect the cavities housing the explosion. - They have similar organs to vertebrates within their abdomen, probably surrounded by cartilage. (not that important, I haven't thought that much about this) - (More may be added later as I remember)

Pebbles does not think. He just does stuff.

This was supposed to be a flat colored, non-shaded, shit-post that I was planning to post with a bigger piece. Then suddenly my art app was yelling at me about "too many layers". So take this alone since I impulse shaded and rendered it.

so, iterators are kinda 1/2 1/2 metal n flesh right?
What if it slowly got more biological over time? Science progressing n all that.
I think it'd be cool if iterators from different eras looked completely different from each other :3

I made a Moon plush!!
I found the fabric in an op-shop and it immediately reminded me of Moon so I bought it and made her using a free pattern I found. (Linked below). I edited the dress slightly to be longer and to have sleeves as well as making her antenna! This was so much fun to make!! Her fabric is Very Soft and feels really nice!! I was hoping to get a child hood handmade plush kind of feel from it and I think I did it really well!! Five Pebbles will be next :]

Odd RW bug
I’ve been experiencing a peculiar bug with my Rainworld game and I was wondering if anyone else might be experiencing it too. It’s probably better to send out a steam message or something, but this is just a quick post to throw into the void to see if I’m alone in this.
For some reason, whenever I try to throw a spear into a wall, my game freezes, but not quite. The game can still pause, exit, all that, but all creatures and objects freeze and become impossible to interact with. Background animations still occur, the sound effects and music remain, it’s only creatures and objects. Because of this, I’ve had to use the mouse drag mod to get past certain areas of the game in order to not lose my progress from that session. I cannot find a way to fix it, and whenever it occurs I have to restart the cycle and lose karma. In co-op, spears not thrown by myself can embed into walls normally, although this may just be a lucky coincidence. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I have no mods having to do with spears, and the only thing I’ve had to guess could be effecting it is the remix option to retrieve embedded spears. Am I alone in this? Is there a fix?

Biiig image hopefully it like translates well but oughhg vultures,, Info/hcs about them below: (warning- long/wordy post)
General information:
Their entire lifecycle is based off bugs and thus they go through instars or larval stages of growth before they eventually cocoon and pupate and finally emerge as fully fledged adults
Through some strange modifications to their genetic and biological code, the ancients were able to make them grow their own biomechanical components through ingesting inorganic and organic material
Much more detailed under a microscope, their biomechanical structures are layered as if they were 3D printed on, but include interwoven organic components such as nerves and blood vessels
Vultures are opportunistic and will even result to cannibalism
Hatchling / 1st Instar:
multiple hatchlings will hatch all at once in a single clutch and immediately fight each other, eventually killing and consuming the loser, thus resulting in only a few grubs surviving
Nutrients gained from their siblings and material eaten from the environment around them is used to form the headpiece as quickly as possible
the modified head is used as its primary defense in the larval stage, calling adult vultures in hopes that it'll deter it's attacker- though the vultures that do arrive are most likely not the parents and will eat the grub at any given chance
5th Instar:
By now the grub has eaten as much nutrients as it could and will soon undergo pupation
The grub's first four legs have elongated to aid in travel as they will seek refuge in high perches where they will hide away and cocoon
They are swift and hard to spot in this stage because of their grime covered coat
Pupation / Near emergence:
After spinning its cocoon, the silk hardens and thickens into a tough ball
The silk is woven in with specific nutrients that promote plant growth to further hide the cocoon
After an undetermined amount of time, the cocoon gradually expands as the pupa grows into the adult form; the expansion leaves translucent areas where the silk is thin
Adult Vulture:
The engines and mask are a result of a mixture of bone-like material and metal-like material and are very hard to break
They are aware of how strong their own mask is so they stray from fighting each other, only ever attacking another vulture if they've lost their mask; this is an instinctive behavior both driven by their opportunistic nature and seeing a maskless vulture as sick or injured
As with the majority of creatures, the skin of a vulture is smooth and porous, but instead has patches of hair-like protrusions
Through a mysterious process, vultures are able to synthesize various chemicals to aid in flight, namely helium gas, which is pumped into the feathers
This process brings toxic byproducts: chlorine and iodine gas, which is forcefully expelled alongside the helium through the engines and out of the creature
A vulture's engines are raised occasionally to allow more airflow and a faster exchange of gas as standalone they accumulate these chemicals regardless of exertion
The feathers of a vulture are akin to swim bladders and are inflated with helium gas to allow the creature to fly, the feathers retain their flat shape but the skin is expanded and shows the true colors of the wings, when deflated the feathers are black in color
When on the ground, the feathers of a vulture are deflated and much tougher, their wings will curl into "fists" as they walk, occasionally extending their wings to grab ahold of things with their prolegs
Previously as a grub, they had 4 developed legs before they pupate, the mid legs turned into a pair of weak grabbing arms, mainly used to preen the creature
The grub's last pair of legs became fat reserves
The jaws of a vulture are pretty animal-like and only have a top and bottom jaw, they also have pedipalps which are used to preen, grab, and feel things
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
King Vulture:
Unknown as to how they originated, bear slightly different genetic coding compared to normal vultures, namely noticed with the mysterious brand on their masks
the vulture is larger to accommodate a second pair of lungs solely used to power the harpoon mechanism
The harpoon is shot via a swift expulsion of air similar to a sneeze, through the cables that they stiffen and expand, sending the harpoon flying at dangerous speeds
Relaxation of the cables allows them to slowly retract back on their own
