Cine: Harry + Max (2004)

En apariencia, pareciera que nos encontramos con una película de camaradería fraternal, amable y divertida, pero una niebla de pantanosa oscuridad se cierne sobre los personajes protagonistas. No es para menos, pues el tema central es perturbador y polémico, aún bajo la coraza de un filme ameno.

Harry (Bryce Johnson) y Max (Cole Williams) son hermanos que se llevan casi siete años de distancia etaria (23 y 16 años respectivamente). El mayor ha sido una estrella pop que ha recorrido mucho camino con su banda, siempre bajo la severa mirada de su madre (Michelle Phillips), pero sabe que el ocaso está cada vez más cerca. Su hermano menor, por su parte, es un querubín rubio que, a pesar de que su sueño pasa por el espacio y los cohetes, se ve obligado a perseguir una carrera musical solista.

Ambos tienen una vida romántica complicada con la que intentan lidiar y esclarecer, más allá de la presión materna: Harry mantiene un romance inestable con Nikki (Rain Phoenix, hermana mayor de River y Joaquin) mientras que Max ha tenido una problemática relación con Josiah (Tom Gilroy), un hombre que le dobla en edad. Sin embargo (y aquí viene lo complejo de la historia), una jornada de campamento reaviva lo que comparten, que se asemeja más a una pasión que a un juego inocente.

Christopher Münch se mete en el mundo de los ídolos adolescentes, basándose vagamente en las figuras de Nick y Aaron Carter, según el sitio imdb.com. Las circunstancas de la fama global, los fans, las giras, las revistas teen, la presión de la imagen y el asfixiante accionar de los padres/representantes son algunos de los puntos en cuestión, pero todo palidece frente a tópico más delicado de las relaciones incestuosas entre hermanos.

#standbytheriver Today, 25 years have passed since "Father Nature" disappeared, that is River Phoenix and I want to remember it starting from the fact that he was a wonderful person, an activist and he fought for animal rights (even his sister Rain reminded him this way). Anyway, I have to tell you that a few days ago I saw him in the role of Chris Chambers in Stand By Me, and it seemed to me with a very comfortable and good character. You know, I do not think he wanted to kill himself like this, drugging himself and challenging his life for something so useless and dangerous, because his life was so simple and normal that in all his career he did exceptional roles. I think, why kill yourself this way even if you're an activist and you love animals? Excuse me, but he was building something nice in his figure, because to ruin it in this way with useless discoball killers (I think that damn disco Viper Room at this time should not even exist, and it's sad to say, but I know already the fact that River was drunk since before entering the damn disco!) However, what I recommend is necessarily to STAY AWAY from drugs and what people want to offer you, NEVER trust those people! I recommend, do not make the end of poor River or like so many VIPs who go into total bankruptcy! I love you River and I know that from up there you can help a lot of people and you can save many animals and even our Earth that is now lost like a cat that does not find the way home. This durdeless is dedicated mainly to him, but also to John Lennon, his childhood idol and to Ben E. King the original singer of the unforgettable song main theme of the film of his debut, Stand By Me. “In The Corner Dunce” by Aleka’s Attic

Such an AWESOME song & video! Despite how sad I get when I think about River Phoenix and how I wish he was still with us all today - I find solace in knowing that he is with God in Heaven (which is where all Angels deserve to be). If only he were alive today - I can only speculate & fantasize, but I bet he would have been a really good father & husband to his own family. That man went through a lot (and experienced a lot of severe struggle which caused a great deal of trauma apparently), and he still wanted to put good into the world and heal this place (despite his personal demons). I really wish I could have met him because I admire his work and his efforts a great deal. This song is merely a snapshot of the ripple effect of the pebble he threw in the pond (if that makes sense).

I know his spirit still lives on despite his physical absence. God bless him.

...By the way - It TOTALLY blows my mind that The Phoenix family had lived in FLORIDA (which is totally my stompin’ ground). I’m like DUDE WHERE WAS I?! Oh wait I was overseas living in Okinawa, Japan...of course..other side of the world..why not... Hahaha. Literally The Bottom family changed their name to The Phoenix family while fleeing to Florida. I’m like DUDE! ...They know...They know about the humidity...The sweat..the constant sweat (HaHaaha). Kinda random but not to me so yeah - Good times.

River started a band called aleka's attic in which river played guitar and wrote songs and rain sang, they rehearsed up their parents place, played benefits at events like rock against fur and performed at the hardback cafe ☮️❤️🎸🎤
