ab kal ke match ka heartfelt ramble ka waqt aaya hai honestly there's sm energy in me and it has to go somewhere, I'm gonna start off with the tournament as a whole, because some teams like Afghanistan and South Africa do deserve their appreciation as well. They both managed to do what their own teams before then failed to- playing a final and semi-final is a feat worth achieving ✨🙌🏻 and they managed to do it. We saw some good old West Indies back and that brought back a sense of childhood who had seen the likes of DJ Bravo and Chris Gayle play. Now as a fellow indian, seeing the Australian being defeated by Afghanistan and then later us 🥳 only to pin down their hope on Bangladesh- IT FELT SO SURREAL, LIKE YES BITCH CUMMINS THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING SO RUDE (and 19 Nov ka badla hum toh Aussies se bohot baar lenge, with dugna lagaan)
Ind vs Eng, was the ultimate banger for me, the whole transition from a 10 wicket loss to 10 wicket haul was just amazing!! And sometimes we Indians forget the essence of our own bowlers in our team, but this wc was all about bowlers (ours and other countries)- after the ipl bashing, this entire month must have felt so hopeful to them. We got so many players like Bumrah, Maharaja, Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq defending low scoring matches- these matches that kept us as audience on edge. What a beautiful time to be a skilled bowler!
Now coming to yesterday, as a person that had nothing against South Africa as such but only had love for India- I deeply feel sorrow for your loss. I guess, we Indians know better than anyone how it feels to win all matches and then lose the final. I believe, your captain Markram is gonna do the magic our Rohit Sharma did last night. You just have to believe in him!
And to my beautiful Men in Blue- kal toh dil jeet liya 🥹🙌🏻 Everyone had been so worked up in the entire tournament. All of 11 players deserved the world cup, especially those that had played the 19 Nov. Last night's match was taking my breath away every over, it was so suspenseful and thriller and in the words of Sidhu "yeh match nazuk dil walo ke liye nahi hai" and it definitely wasn't and Bapu tumne toh humari jaan leli kal with that over (jeet mei sab maaf hai) but thank you Sky for taking the catch which people will talk about 10 years from now and thank you Hardik for not breaking our trust in that last over (Rohit did kiss you on behalf of 1.5 billion people yesterday 😚) but more than thank you to Captain that ended the trophy draught and thank you to the Coaches! ❤️
To Rahul Dravid, who was so intense yesterday- Indiranagar ka gunda jag gaya kal full 🥹😂 but thank you so much for making us what we are!! We are going to miss you so much 🫂🥹 and to Rohit and Kohli, we aren't sure if t20i will ever be same without you.
to the indian cricket team, WE ARE SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU!! 💙🇮🇳

Thoughts on Ishan :
(and ict in general)
1. When he opted out of India's test squad before our series with S. Africa....I knew... I KNEW it will be a long time before we'll get to see him playing for India again.
And then few weeks later Rahul Dravid said in a press conference... He can come back... Just play domestic.... My heart sank.
Here's the thing, I don't blame him at all for taking a break due to mental fatigue.
I fully support his decision as well. He prioritised himself and that's good.
But my dude... If I was your friend, if I was there with you... I wouldn't have let you go.
I would have grabbed his trousers and refused to let go. This is team India. You take one step back and 10 other people are standing right behind you ready to take your place.
Shubhman gill was hyped up so much... Remember his 126 in 63 balls against New Zealand?
But he faltered.
And Today he's in reserve.
Jaiswal is going to be our new opener in all 3 formats very soon. And there's nothing wrong with that. The guy earned it.
Ishan left the South Africa Series and a month later during the india Vs England test Series Jurel was picked and he did an excellent job.
Now imagine... Imagine if Ishan was there instead... If ishan had scored those 90 runs.....he would have made his place permanent.
I'll repeat myself.... I don't blame him for leaving... But he should have thought this through. Especially when a guy like Rahul Dravid is your coach.
(he's the same guy who gave declaration during a test match when Sachin Tendulkar was about to score a century. He's not as innocent as he looks.)
Another thing which really hurts me is how so many people complain about him being benched and then dropped but Yaar....there are tons of players who have gone through this.
Even Ashwin was benched. He said in an interview that when his team would win he wouldn't even feel like going in the ground to congratulate them coz of how hurt he felt.
It happens.
.
.
.
Anyways My overall opinion on this drama is :
1. I support him for leaving.
2. But I hate that he left.
3. A block of ice would be a better coach than Rahul Dravid.
Anyways... Jo hogaya so hogaya.
What I want now is for him to focus on his future.
And He can start by leaving Mumbai Indians.
MI was the team who would pick young players, groom and invest in them and make them capable enough for team India.
The MI we have seen this year is no longer that team. It doesn't matter how many reels their insta page puts out, the atmosphere of that team is tense, awkward and a hot mess.
If Mumbai really cared about a future captain as they claimed.... They should have made Ishan their new captain...like how csk and gt did with ruturaj and gill.
But oh well.
Right now... The best he can do is keep himself fit, play domestic and leave MI at THE EARLIEST.
That team, it's atmosphere, the mismanagement and inner conflicts (believe me, they exist) will not help him at all.
Imo, he doesn't need a team to grow. He has developed a good skill set. What he needs now is a stage.
A team like Kkr, RR or Gt will be great for that because these teams don't drop Their players after 1 or 2 matches... Have good coaches, stable environment and a good atmosphere overall.
Ishan is an excellent wicket keeper + batsman and the type of cricket he plays is best suited for t20 format (one day and test also but especially t20).
Whether we win or lose this t20 world cup... This one is the last one for our senior players.
After that, our youngsters will take charge (at least they should).
Yashasvi and Abhishek should be our openers.
Gill, rutu and Riyan would perfect be for middle order.
Ishan, with his explosive batting style, would be the perfect finisher.
Also... This dumb culture of batters not learning bowling (encouraged by this stupid impact rule) that has developed in the Indian team needs to STOP.
Look at Australia and New Zealand's t20 squad. Look at how many all rounders they have.
Look at ours. We won the 2007 cup because of all rounders as well.
Also... We cage our players. We hold them back. A player like Travis head is playing with such ferocity because his style and mindset is supported by his captain, his team and his media.
Meanwhile... If an Indian player attempts to do the same and doesn't make a big score in 2 -3 matches... He'll be benched instantly.
Another thing... If we look up the stats of our players in this year's t20 wc squad...
Except virat, Bumrah and maybe kuldeep ...everyone else is on ram bharose.
When players like n. reddy, ishan, rutu, gill, Riyan, natrajan... will be groomed and given enough opportunities....their aggressive style will be supported instead of criticized.... that's when we will win trophies.

Ravindra Jadeja is angry at the unfair treatment of Ishan Kishan
With the Board of Control for Cricket in India preparing a contract extension for head coach Rahul Dravid after the ICC World Cup 2023, the chief of the National Cricket Academy and batting icon VVS Laxman coached a second-string Indian side for the entire five-match T20I series against Australia. Under the leadership of new captain Suryakumar Yadav, a second-string India side defeated Australia 4-1 in the bilateral series.
Superstar Shreyas Iyer, who was rested for the first three T20Is, joined the Indian squad as Suryakumar's deputy for the final two encounters against Australia. While Iyer was roped in as the No. 3 batter for the 4th and 5th T20I, India decided to release Ishan Kishan from its playing XI after the third encounter of the five-game series. When Ravindra Jadeja got asked, “Was Kishan really that tired after three matches?’ Jaddu said, “There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home.
Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn't even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing XI for the first few World Cup matches. How many Indian players have scored a double century on a good day? He can change the game on his own. When will he get ready? Will you keep him on trial all the time? In the last two years, how many games has he played? This problem of Indian cricket is not of today; it is very old that we don’t select players but reject them.”

Do you want to hear a funny story of how wild Indian cricket fans are? 🤭😂
Rahul Dravid 's tenure as India's head coach is supposed to end by the 2024 T20 World Cup. BCCI has invited applications from interested parties for his successor. Former cricketers had to submit their applications using Google Forms. Somehow, the link for the Google Forms got leaked, and fans actually submitted applications for Team India's head coach! 🤣🤣🤣
Some of the fake names used by fans include the names of former cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, etc. Even the names of current cricketers like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were used 🤣 The names of Indian politicians like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were also submitted for the position of head coach. People also applied under the names of Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt (all of them are famous bollywood superstars) 😭💀
The BCCI have received over 3000 applications for the role of head coach, and are unable to tell whether applicants going by the names of former cricketers are the actual cricketers themselves or importers 😂😂😂😂😂
oh my god this is hilarious xD

I fail to understand exclusion of Ashwin: Sachin Tendulkar | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Despite the Australian line-up comprising five left-handers batters, premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was not picked in the India XI for the World Test Championship final as coach Rahul Dravid defended the decision saying that overcast conditions forced the team to pick a fourth specialist seamer. Legendary Sachin Tendulkar however found Ashwin’s exclusion baffling, pointing out…

[ad_1] Left: Ricky Ponting looks on from the dugout. Source: BCCI, Right: Gautam Gambhir attended the Press Conference ahead of the 3rd test between India and New Zealand (PC: Subhayan) There was a point in Gautam Gambhir’s press conference where it seemed his composure was slightly off balance. Rather, he was a tad irritated. It was when he was asked about a Ricky Ponting comment on Virat Kohli. Gautam, the feisty character that he is, shot back: “What does Ponting know about Indian cricket”… That’s what brings me to ask why the question was asked in the first place. Why does Ponting saying something about an Indian batter become a national headline in India? Does Sunil Gavaskar saying something or Sachin Tendulkar saying something about an Australian batter become a headline in the media Down Under? The answer is no. Then, why is it that we give so much column-inches to Ponting or anyone else for that matter? If Ponting was speaking on batting in Australian conditions, it is something that has value. After all, he knows it really well and is indeed in a position to comment. But on Virat? Or Rohit? Or Shubman? He might indeed have an opinion but why do we have to highlight his opinion or treat it as gospel? Do the Australian journalists do any such thing with any of our legends? If Rahul Dravid speaks on Steve Smith for example, will it become a headline or a subject of debate in Australia? For More Sports Related Content Click Here Gautam Gambhir at a practice session. Source (GG Insta) That’s where Gautam’s annoyance really stems from. For far too long we have given undue importance to foreigners and treated them with reverence. Take a look at the IPL coaching staff and this point is further made clear. Ponting as IPL coach is a failure. Seven seasons and no title, and nothing much to write home about as head coach of Delhi Capitals. In fact, he was removed after seven seasons. And yet, he is the go-to-man for Punjab Kings. How many Indian coaches have got stints in the BBL or the WBBL? And how many Australians get work in India in the IPL or the WPL? Have we ever asked why? For the record, India are the T20 world champions in the men’s game. This is why you need a Ravi Shastri or a Gautam Gambhir as coach in Australia. Men who can shoot back if needed. Virat did so in 2018. Ajinkya Rahane was able to do so in 2021. When things came to a pass with Siraj, he stood firm and made a point. Remember Ravi Ashwin’s press conference where he spoke extensively about racism? The truth is what Ponting says about Virat is irrelevant. Rather, we are the ones who are to blame for highlighting it and making it a national talking point. After the New Zealand series loss, there are many who have said Rohit and Virat should retire or they should make way. Two questions for each one of them – in 2018, India beat Australia in their lair. What was the Australian bowling attack like? It was Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood. Again, in 2021, a half injured India beat Australia in Australia. Who are the bowlers who bowled for Australia? The very same Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood. How many of these bowlers were dropped? After two consecutive home series losses? And had an Indian great said so, would it even merit a discussion Down Under? So why bother about Ponting and what he says? Rahul Dravid: The Journey of His Coaching
Rahul Dravid. The name evokes memories of a resolute batsman, a wall at the crease, and a leader known for his calm and composed demeanor. But since hanging up his boots, Dravid has embarked on a new chapter, one that has seen him transform into a highly respected coach, shaping the future of Indian cricket. Mohammed Shami's Revelation About Being Dropped Surprises Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid: 'They Never Considered Dropping Me Again'
Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami recently opened up about a crucial moment in his cricketing career that left both captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid taken aback. In a candid confession, Shami recounted an experience where he was temporarily dropped from the national team, a move that left a lasting impact on him and seemingly made the team management reconsider ever making the same decision again.
Shami, known for his lethal pace and ability to swing the ball both ways, has been a consistent performer for India across all formats. However, like many players, he too faced a phase where his form was under scrutiny, leading to his exclusion from the team. Reflecting on this phase, Shami revealed that being dropped was a turning point that fueled his determination to return stronger.
During an interview, Shami shared the emotional and psychological toll that the decision had on him. He admitted that it was a tough pill to swallow but also a necessary wake-up call that pushed him to work harder on his fitness and skills. Shami emphasised that the experience taught him valuable lessons about resilience and the importance of consistently performing at the highest level.
What made Shami’s revelation particularly interesting was his assertion that the impact of his exclusion was so profound that it changed the way the team management, particularly Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, viewed his role in the squad. According to Shami, both the captain and coach were deeply impressed by the way he bounced back, to the extent that they never seriously considered dropping him again.
Shami’s story is a testament to the competitive nature of international cricket, where even established players are not immune to the pressures of performance. His ability to rise from a low point and re-establish himself as a key figure in the Indian bowling attack highlights the mental toughness required to succeed at the highest level.
In the current Indian cricket landscape, Shami’s place in the team seems secure, thanks to his consistent performances and the trust he has built with the leadership. His journey serves as an inspiration not only to aspiring cricketers but also to anyone facing challenges in their professional lives. Shami’s candid confession and the reaction it elicited from the team’s leadership underscore the fine balance between talent, hard work, and the psychological aspects of competitive sports. Rahul Dravid defends US leg of T20 World Cup 2024, says 10.30am starts were fine
Former India head coach Rahul Dravid has defended the heavily-criticised US leg of last month’s T20 World Cup, saying that “playing at odd hours” and coping with “challenging” facilities were necessary “compromises” to take cricket to a larger audience. Given the huge effort involved in conducting the event in the region, Dravid said he was fine with the 10.30am (local time) starts and the…

[ad_1] Gautam Gambhir (PC: X) Atreyo Mukhopadhyay in Mumbai Sitting in the dugout, Gautam Gambhir tried to remain expressionless as India continued losing wickets during their futile chase of 147 in the third Test against New Zealand. The head coach didn’t betray a lot of emotions when the team slipped to defeats in the first two Tests either. His face remained firm and he was never seen barking at his players during those embarrassing moments. Known for his feisty nature during his playing days, Gambhir has to take some tough calls soon enough. Or else, he might just find himself at the other end of some stern decisions. The future looks grim. After suffering a 0-3 clean sweep against New Zealand, India are set for another harsh examination over five Tests in Australia. The Test series after that is next summer in England. Gambhir’s future in this role will depend significantly on what happens in those 10 Tests. To begin with, India under Gambhir have not lived up to the standards the chief coach wants to set. The former opener was clear before the New Zealand series that he prefers a ‘high-risk, high-reward’ philosophy. Risks were taken against New Zealand. Rewards were not forthcoming. The first obvious risk was choosing to bat in overcast conditions in the first Test. Then, it was laying out turning tracks for the second and third games, which backfired spectacularly. It’s difficult to think that captain Rohit Sharma was singularly responsible for all those decisions. He might have had a big say, but the chief coach couldn’t have been a silent spectator. If he was in disagreement, it was his job to make his point. That’s why he is there. He has not been appointed to keep quiet when he notices something is amiss. That never happened. The odd strange decision is understandable. A series of them suggests flaws in the thought process. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Gautam Gambhir with Rohit Sharma (PC: X) The first and foremost shortcoming on Gambhir’s CV is his total lack of experience of coaching in the longer formats. His only credibility — at the time of his appointment — was one season of success for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. His predecessor Rahul Dravid was in charge of the India A and India U-19 programmes for years before being made the chief coach of India. Gambhir’s coaching team is equally inexperienced when it comes to Test cricket. Abhishek Nayar, Rayan ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel have all worked primarily in franchise cricket. The BCCI accepted Gambhir’s wishes by appointing them, even if it meant overlooking coaches groomed through the National Cricket Academy. Gambhir got what he wanted and whom he wanted. That makes him answerable. There are unconfirmed reports the BCCI will have a chat with Gambhir before the Australia series and ask for certain explanations. Even if that doesn’t happen, questions will be asked. He has been given a free hand and even attended the team selection meeting for the Australia tour. There aren’t many precedents of coaches doing that. As far as results go, it’s been a blank so far if one doesn’t read too much into the win against Bangladesh. These are early days still, in Gambhir’s tenure as India coach, but this New Zealand defeat has made things much tougher for him than anybody anticipated. Five Tests in Australia and five more in England are looking ominous at the moment. Given the shape of the team, ageing bodies and the lack of satisfactory returns from some illustrious seniors — no one can say with certainty that India will win in Australia and England. The focus, right now, is on avoiding complete embarrassment. So, it’s needless to say that Gambhir finds himself in an uncomfortable position. This will only get tougher. Each defeat will bring him under the scanner and the situation is such that nobody can say with certainty that this team will start winning immediately. The forecast is more setbacks than anything redeeming. A World Cup winner in two white-ball formats, Gambhir is in for a testing time.
How he motivates the team will hold the key to his future in this enviable job, which is looking unenviable at the moment.
