• Jax is Caine's adopted son.

Caine has taken in the little rabbit after he lost his parents at a very young age and will go through many adoptive families; Jax appreciates Caine and adores his new mother, and warned Ragatha not to ruin the wedding.

• Ragatha is Pomni's adopted daughter.

Pomni has stayed with her after her parents left her and never returned; Ragatha has learned to tolerate Pomni and detests Caine for marrying Pomni, and is hostile towards Jax for his attitude.

I see your point (especially in regards to them NOT having a "sugar mommy" way.) Personally, I see Ragatha as being more of a "big-sister" figure than anything romantic or parent-like to Pomni. This may be because I have kind of a similar relationship with my own siblings, and, like Ragatha, can be a bit "parental" with them, even if they are only a few years younger than me.

THE MAIN PROBLEM OF THE AMAIZING DIGITAL CIRCUS.

In this post, I’m going to talk a lot about what I don’t like about The Amazing Digital Circus. And trust me, writing this post was tough. It’s hard to speak badly about something you love. But here are the main reasons I’ve identified.

1. Timing.

Currently, there are 9 episodes planned.

We have 4, and the episode 6 will focus on Jax. That’s all. And, as I assume, the remaining 3 episodes will be about getting out of the circus.. ( ep 7,8,9 ) Excuse me, but how do you plan to fit all of this into 9 episodes:

• The inner conflicts of 5 characters (including important NPCs like Kane, Gummigoo, etc.)

• Their past (life before/after the circus)

• Themes of death ( Kingers ife), psychological disorders, fears, loneliness, etc.

• Explaining the circus system — is it a program? A game? How did the characters end up there in the first place? (Yeah, I know the creator said the focus would be on the characters and their personalities, but still.)

And many other topics, like why the number 57 appears in the show, and other small details.

2. Episode 3 — so confusing.

Let’s be real: what did we learn from this episode?

Kinger’s wife died, and he was a programmer. He didn't like insects, but thanks to my wife he started to love them. Zooble doesn’t like themselves.

Hmm, that’s a lot of information. And this is all while we’re dealing with shotguns, ghosts, souls, hell… and then we have a long conversation about Kinger’s wife. It’s a sweet scene, but we just killed an angel. Isn’t that a little too fast?

Also, I don’t quite get the idea of revealing two characters in one episode. I understand that character interactions help reveal them, but why mix everything into one pot? A few interactions would be enough to start.

3. Lore of characters.

Well, anyone who’s seen my posts or looked at my profile can tell that I absolutely adore Jax. And so does a good chunk of the fandom. If you gave me the chance, I could write an entire book about him, probably longer than War and Peace.

But now tell me—who else in the show can I say that much about?

• Gangle — wanted to be an artist, ended up working in fast food. Wears a mask because it “makes everyone happier.”

• Kinger — was a programmer, his wife died in the circus. Love insects and darkness.

• Pomni — worked in an office, doesn’t want anyone to feel terrible.

• Zooble — doesn’t like theme body. Outwardly angry, but deep inside, kind.

• Ragatha — kind, but possibly hypocritical. Something’s definitely being hidden.

• Jax — I won’t even begin, because I won’t stop. But if I summarize it briefly: he was probably a farmer in his past life, wants closeness but is scared, pushes everyone away, messes with them just to stay afloat. And that’s just the beginning.

Why is it like this? Why can I expand on one character’s backstory, but for the rest, I only get two sentences?

And the fifth episode is already on the way. (Maybe I’m wrong as a fan who leans towards one character—if there are Kinger fans, please let me know if I’m mistaken!! )

4. Suggestion

I don’t like criticizing without offering suggestions, so here’s how I’d see it in the best light

One character = One episode.

A few interactions with others can help, but when two characters share one 20-minute episode, it’s too little. In episode 3, we learned very little about the characters. We didn’t dive deep into their inner world, just got the basics. For example, with Zooble, it was clear she didn’t like their body long before, since why else would she constantly change parts of it and refer to themself with “they/them” pronouns? This hints at self-perception issues, but to truly explore that, more time and character development is needed.

5. Maybe when the entire show is released, I’ll be wrong.

But I’m just judging based on what I have right now. Maybe everything will fall into place, and I’ll be proven wrong.)

Please, don’t throw tomatoes at me.

I know what the writers are counting on. And it shows. I see how much work goes into each episode. I experience their emotions, their pain, their internal breakdowns. But I say what I think: there is little time, and too many ambitions.

Once again, I’ll say it’s really hard to speak negatively about a show I love.

I love this show. I love Gooseworx. I love Glitch. I love The Amazing Digital Circus.

But name me a show that doesn’t have flaws?

Ever since I saw the leaks of a new yttd chapter I really wanted to do something for yttd to get back into it, so I combined my current interest (tadc) with that!!
