It is genuinely amazing to see an openly sapphic couple in fiction like Rae and Claire.

They have normal paying jobs, they have kids who they have to prepare for school every morning. They have sex on regular basis, but theyre also worried about apearing as "too obsessed with sex", as a by-product of living in a homophobic society.

Theyre often not sure how to handle their children, and they still have to learn from both each other, and other adults, on how to be good parents.

One of their children is especially gifted, while the other one is essentially disabled, while also having enormous talents in areas other then her sister.

Aside from going down as important historical figures, and all having anime powers, theyre just a normal family, that feels like it could actually exist in the real world

Anyway, im very happy that more people are going to experience this amazing story soon

Okay but like... I'm in love with them your honor? Like Rae is an utterly fascinating character to me. At first glance, she seems way too clingy and a masochist who can't leave Claire well enough alone... and then you realize that's entirely the point.

Like growing up in Japan, Rae's expected to act a certain way if she is going to be publically out of the closet. She's expected to act a certain way, she's expected to be grabby, and very public about her affections. She's supposed to be a cliche. Japan's asking her to act this way and it hasn't settled in for Rae that she isn't in Japan. That here, nobody cares how she acts, as long as she's a good person. She's secretly deeply miserable and right now she thinks of Claire as her favorite game character. Not as a real person.

Claire meanwhile... it hasn't just never occurred to her she can be interested in girls. She simply doesn't know you can. Bisexuality, to her, never crossed her mind as nobody's told her it's even a thing. Nobody has ever once told her it's possible to like a girl back, because this being a Victorian society, you're expected to marry a man of equal or higher status.

I seriously love their relationship dynamic starting out, because it's so different and has a lot to say about love both in Japan and in Victorian times.
