a love note (and some fics)

Sometimes I wonder if there's really anything bigger out there - the universe, some kind of higher power, fate - and then I think about how extremely lucky I am that I became obsessed with a certain tv show and its characters at just the right time so that I could befriend someone who then introduced me to a particular book at exactly the right time to fall in love with those characters as well. And then, because of my need to have more of those characters, I went looking for more stories about them at exactly the right time to meet a group of people (some of them together, some of them later, but that doesn't matter) who would go on to become my friends.

There must be something, right? To bring together a group of people who live in five to seven different time zones depending on the time of year. To create my safest spaces on the internet. To share not just our love for a book and its characters, but parts of our lives with each other. To have them all wedge themselves into the soft spaces of my heart and never leave.

I've been thinking about this a lot over the last two weeks, because those people conspired and collaborated to gift me a collection of 10 incredible fics for a milestone birthday (tomorrow!) - even though some of them haven't written fic for months and months, or don't write for this fandom at all anymore, or have recently been finding it hard to make words work and finish fics, or are just plain busy with other projects and life. That they took the time to find and make words for me means everything and more 💖💖

I've been absolutely overwhelmed with love these past 10 days (probably to the surprise of no one, I have cried at every single fic drop and I'm crying writing this now). So, I want to share the wonderful fics that they've written for me with you all because it's the least I can do to pay it forward and they're objectively stellar fics. txt: yeonjun! he's the first member to be revealed during their debut days and i was one of the first to watch his announcement vid

enhypen: jake. his pics and vids during i-land days (even tho i don't interact with i-land cause i am SICK of survival shows, fuuuuck them!)

ateez: seonghwa cause of his appearance that i still remember (the platinum blond hair with fake lip ring)

txt: soobin is who i claimed as my first bias (i had to be careful with that cause i had a friend who believes the "bias is mine" mindset and she also picked soobin lol so i claimed that my bias is yeonjun >.<)

enhypen: jungwon! i know surprising, but he is and will be my younger bro, but my bias changes depending on who i vibe with and having a sibling connection with won feels weird because i usually read fics of my biases and it feels awkward for me to read a reader x won fic (esp if it's romantic)

ateez: mingi. i like people with deep voices (cause i also have one for being a contralto) and his voice just caught me off guard. then, i moved to wooyoung because he likes jimin and park jimin was my ult bias for like 4 years (i'm a simple girl. if he biases my bias, he is my bias)

| what makes them your current bias?

visual and voice definitely come to mind. for me, they are so partner-coded with their own pros and cons and i think all of them have a sense of stability within them (soobin with leadership, jake with intelligence, seonghwa with wisdom). while career-wise, they're the underdogs of their groups and i have a thing for underdogs that makes me wanna support them more. they're not flashy enough to be called an ace but also talented enough to be an all-rounder

| who is your bias wrecker?

txt: yeonjun for the longest time. taehyun when i was writing troubled pixies (i even considered biasing yeonbintyun because of it)

enhypen: jay and heeseung! jongseong's been the longest bias wrecker in enha since he almost stole jaeyun's seat numerous times while heeseung is a new one because he's FFFFFFFFAAAAAAWWWKKKing hot and talented (also their music taste combined = my current music taste + they play instruments so that's a plus for me cause i love musicians (most of my real life crush are musicians/can play instruments))

| when did you first discover the group?

txt: have been there since the beginning, baby! pre-debut times where bighit announces that bts is having a little brother group and the rest is history

enhypen: i've known about i-land (that's when i saw jake's announcement pic and he is such AWOOGAH) but i'm pissed off by survival shows that i don't wanna feel traumatized anymore. i've heard of given-taken but i didn't start being a fan until drunk-dazed - fever era cause that ep is so nice and they have a show with txt so... yeah!

ateez: back in 2018, so many random play dance vids had pirate king as one song in their roster and so i started to get interested. i became a fan during the start of the treasure ep 2 promotions (the red bg concept photo with blond seonghwa, yes that's the one that i mentioned before) and i binge their content including kq fellaz, ep 1, and the short version of hala hala at that time and it's still one of my fav songs of theirs

| have you ever been to one of their concerts?

txt: twice! act: lovesick in 2022 and act: sweet mirage in 2023. i stand pretty far from the stage (because i don't wanna get crowd crush and i can dance and enjoy however i want) but i actually went past their van convoy on the highway on my way home lmao (me and my best friend actually didn't actually believe it was them until we saw that kai had done a very brief weverse live on the van around the same time i drove my car past their van. the fact that i'm meters away from them but we're shielded by each of our vehicles sadge)

enhypen: never, cause they don't consider my city/country to have many engenes. i'm willing to pay to go watch them in another city/country but depends on scheduling and setlist (cause i'm here to watch them perform given-taken live and they don't have it in the latest setlist for the fate tour which is such a disappointment on my end)

ateez: yeah? they're part of a line up for spotify on stage back in 2019 alongside (g)i-dle and rich brian. so i consider that i have watched them in a concert~

Ooo, yes!

E discovered their writing talent before their singing talent, so they originally thought ‘okay, I’ll be a songwriter’.

^ All until one day they were at their friend’s birthday party. The live music booked for it got sick and didn’t turn up so E stepped in — and boom, found their singing talent.

They have multiple notebooks full of songs written, they even have the first shitty one they started working in.

E also dates when they start working on songs.

Genre: pop, RnB, a bit of dance. They’re a very emotive artist so they’d love to sing a ballad at some point… their label isn’t keen on that last idea.

Has a bass guitar named Rebel and an acoustic guitar named Rae. Also named their grand piano Forte <- (yes, E is a softie)

They like adding Spanish lyrics to some of their songs.

E realllyyy wants one of their tracks to be on a movie soundtrack.

When they’re on tour, their team: dancers, backing singers, technicians, catering, band etc. always have the best stuff to say about how lovely, caring and inclusive E is… but of course the media love painting them out as a diva.

Anndd of courseee, they want the pinnacle, E wants a Grammy. They’ll take a Brit Award but… y’know, GRAMMY!

Pre-Beyond the Game:

I totally headcanon that E approached Second Coming and thought ‘I like them… I like HER!’ and was like super respectful about the approach, slid in the dms, met face to face a few times, became acquaintances and was completely honest from the beginning about wanting to work with Maxine.

Maxine & E got each other’s numbers, they started texting and whatever and picked a date to go to the studio. Maxine strolls in, freshly dyed red hair and says ‘go on, what are your thoughts? tell me what you want’ *insert innuendo from E here*

E eventually gets serious & says that the media has been on their ass and they’re pretty much sick of it, especially since they’re usually depicted as only a model with no talent.

And I feel like Max loosely relates in a sense where she knows that the media is always going to have an opinion on you, and I think she handles this aspect of fame better than E but y'know... it's gonna sting sometimes.

Thus, the two of them talking about their dislike for certain aspects of their careers and the media — this then caused the creation and birth of Heartless.

I feel like Heartless had a good idea behind, obviously two talented artists ready to work on it, and it ended up taking some long ass months to finish and get perfect.

Month 5: I just imagine the two of them in the studio, a little tired, well past midnight, something isn't quite going right with the song, they've ordered takeout to relax and they're talking about stuff that they wouldn't usually tell anyone... if feelings are getting caught, it's right hereee.

^ Like they're looking at each other with hooded eyes and they just knoww that, not that it's necessarily a bad idea for them to kiss/catch feelings, but they both have 'thoughts' about relationships as a whole, and their partnership was one they walked into without even thinking about anything other than music... definitely leaving whether they kissed/did anything more up to you nikka

Fast-forward: Heartless is out into the world, gets nominated for an award and the single holds such a special place in E's heart. Definitely solidified Max and E's friendship, like E adores her.

I feel like they regularly keep in contact too — calls, texts, FaceTimes, chatting shit about the media as usual. E will always want to know how Second Coming's doing. E definitely invites them to tour with them.

Alsooo, headcanon that E has literally written a song about Max: just how grateful they are for their friendship with her, how you can find a person who is such a diamond in this industry etc... but that song is never seeing daylight asdfghjkl (shy E! for once)

Beyond The Game:

E texts Maxine like 'hey, got hospitality tickets to this football game... wanna come with??'

Hospitality seats at football stadiums are soo nice, like you're inside and you can watch through a window or watch on tv and you have the best food, alcohol, and you're rubbing shoulders with other celebs that are there.

Soo, Max and E would get pictured together and they'd probably laugh about it.

Whilst they're watching the game, Max would probably say 'oh, she's cute/hot' and she's talking about Miko. Miko then scores a goal. Maxine: 'very hot'.

^ This would then get E smiling a little...

Deep Night Ep 5 Thoughts

Oops. Got distracted by Stardew Valley and also the return of my headache. Here’s hoping the meds kick in soon. But also I got the Stray Kids merch I ordered! Now I’m living in my new hoodie. Anyway it’s time for Deep Night 5: Rae Blogs Live. Wait no that one is too easy. Deep Night 5: Jealousy Dive. Yeah that one sounds right:

Who is hiring these unfluencers to talk shit when the police come? That’s a typo but I’m keeping it. Cause there’s no way they’re not in on it

I don’t know what Freya pays Dai but it is not enough. 

I don’t think I talked about the opening vocals when I liveblogged episode 4. So here’s me gushing about how absolutely fucking amazing they are. I do not think this would be an easy song to sing. It sounds easy but that’s because of the sheer talent and skill its being performed with. Like, I’m a passably decent singer. I can carry a tune. I am not the most impressive vocalist in the world but I have had multiple people ask me if I sing professionally or as a hobby somewhere. I would not be able to perform this song without HOURS of practice. Vocals are also an instrument that requires practice and technique and I am just so damn impressed with these vocals. I think the song itself is okay, but the singer does so much. The singer is actively carrying the melody and I cannot. I’ll stop talking about this now but if you want my thoughts on how the opening fits the show, let me know. Cause I do have some thoughts there but I think I should probably actually continue watching now

Freya and unnamed gorgeous woman are so cute. What is her name? I need to know for reasons. 

Unrelated to anything but I am having an excellent hair day and I am annoyed that only I will see it. 

Seiji. You can love both of them. I promise. It’s okay. They’re gonna fall in love with each other too. I don’t know if they actually do in the show but don’t worry about that. Semantics. You’ll all be in love.

Ken can be the one that tucks them both into bed at night. 

I need Khem to apologize to Wela so bad. He very clearly actually feels bad and wants to apologize.

Khem is very good at apologizing. It’s because he thinks about how his words and actions have hurt the people he loves. And he cares more about not hurting them than he does about being right. And I think he will not make the same mistakes twice.

Khem and his mom are so cute. 

I’m sure someone else has talked about Khem giving Wela his watch and how that was so good for both of them. Khem can lay a small inconspicuous claim on Wela and when Wela is working he can use it to show Khem that he’s thinking of him so no need to get jealous. Its beautiful and brilliant. 

My man don’t do drugs in the bathroom. This isn’t the club for that.

Of course the cops showed up. Good for Khem knowing someone hired that man to do drugs. 

Honestly are the cops not bored?

I know what pink milk is. But what is red soda?

Is Ken gonna rat them out? Trying to make Seiji number 1? Got bad news about who Khem is and how his mom already knows. But I still see how that could be an issue. 

I mean, Seiji makes a good point. These issues did start when Khem started. It’s not his fault and it’s obvious who it is but he has no way to know that. 

Ken’s a bitch. I actually don’t like him. There was no reason for him to do that.

MELISSA MY WHOLE LIFE HAS LED UP TO THIS LMAO. i love lifetime movies! i love making fun of them, but they're just a big part of my life, as silly as that sounds, i've been watching them since i was a kid!

the wives he forgot 🔗 - my favorite lifetime movie EVER. PERIOD. it's so dumb it's good. man experiences amnesia, and falls in love with molly ringwald! unfortunately, his secrets come to haunt them...

her perfect spouse - on the lifetime movie club app. this is bad in all the classic lifetime movie ways: acting is mid, plot is thin, the villain is villainous. i quote this movie all the time with my friends lmao. also includes one of THEE lifetime movie actresses from the early-aughts, sophie gendron. tw for pregnancy loss

your boyfriend is mine - just watched this the other day! it's more modern, so it's pretty good by lifetime standards, and also breaks some of the common lifetime tropes (no spoilers!)

Your characters are asked to teach one full semester of a course at a university/college for a substantial amount of money. It can be on any topic of their choosing, but they need to be able to fill the entire semester with material in order to get paid. What topics do they choose? Who has a subject ready to go? Who makes up something on the spot just for the paycheque?

Rae: Since she already teaches languages for the X-Mansion sometimes, she sets up a language course at this university too.

Robin: Vocal performance, history of music, something like that

Madison: Struggles for a while - she never went to college, technically she never even finished high school - but eventually manages to set up a course on identifying the native plants and animals in the area.

Ophelia: Would actually have a lot of fun with it: she'd end up teaching Intro to Engineering to undergrads, and her students would love her for how passionate she is about the craft and how she's willing to take more of a "no-rules" approach to it (y'know she's got the textbook but she also tells stories about how she's built things with techniques that technically shouldn't be done)

Jasper: Honestly... they're swamped. They don't have time to come up with a full lesson plan. They end up digging out one of their old college notebooks from whatever class they least hated, and reverse-engineering that class to teach.

Kestrel: Actually gets really involved in planning this lesson on zoology and wildlife science, it's really their passion... and then gets fired from teaching for bringing in a live owl one day without warning the university about it. (the owl was Kestrel, there was no danger, but obviously they couldn't explain that they're a shapeshifter)

Katherine: Hm... I feel like she'd end up turning it into more of a studio space - just enough of a lesson plan to still qualify as a class, but that in practicality acts more as a space for students to recharge and express a little creativity. She tosses in a few fun stories about her passions, art and ancient history and what have you, but the tests are all super easy and the grades are really just technicalities

Quinn: Turns it into a game - how much total bullshit can she make up on the spot and get away with? She actually spends more effort on her fake lesson plan than most teachers do on her real lesson plan, just to make things completely airtight. She makes it through the semester and even cashes in that nice check before the university is like "wait what the fuck"

Eris: You might guess that they wouldn't even show up - why do they need money? But actually, I think they'd have an absolute ball teaching history from their perspective. The first few classes would be a bit of a drag, but by the end of the semester they're bringing in their old weapons as demonstrations, they're holding reenactments out in the courtyard, they're teaching the students swears in dead languages... they end up being most students' favorite professor, just because they don't give a shit about anything except having fun

(Now I'm imagining Rick popping in some days to bring them coffee or whatever, and Eris is... Eris, y'know, about the most affectionate they'll ever get, and the students end up developing a whole running narrative about who this Rick guy is that's so close to their immortal war-obsessed professor here)

Nikoletta: She's running on a high school education and fifteen years of federal imprisonment, but she really needs that paycheck. She ends up giving a lesson on metahumans, at first sticking to standard lessons about Superman and the Flash and the others everyone knows about, but eventually manages to corral her buddies from the Suicide Squad into giving demonstrations. She even demonstrates her own power (though she's careful to save that for the end of the semester, just so none of her students panic)

I must admit ,anon -I took my time with this, because the scope of that is a little intimidating. Also Eclipse has been busy with work and Baldur's Gate 3, and hasn't had much energy to brainstorm. Thank you for your patience. 

To start with, the gender politics of this world are very different, as a lot of people in important positions have become female.

 Higuchi, is head of the technological development of the Yotsuba group at age 32, in 2004. He's canonically obsessed with gaining social status, power, and wealth, and is implied to not be as competent as his colleague's. If it were just him swapping genders that would carry unfortunate implications, but the rest of the group heads were male,  are also gender swapped, so now she's power climbing ambitious hate-sink, I guess. Just like before. 

Would Demegawa still be a sensationalist media director of a TV station in a gender swap? Maybe not if it was just him being swapped. That story would probably her being a lacky who made it higher (quite possibly to Kira Deaths in the industry) who is running the station in part two, someone who reached too high and fell to Kira like all others. 

The director of the FBI Stev(i)e Mason, is female, and so is most of the American FBI, with Misora standing out. Actually, in this AU would Penber have still told her fiance to stay in the kitchen and quit his job in order to marry her? Is she still reluctant to marry him? If so, that certainly carries implications about gender roles in this world.

But let's say things are different and Penber is less of a sexist jerk, and Misora had to tie up some loose ends on a previous job, before Rae dies. Misora is still one of the bigger threats to Light in series, and had to be taken down quickly for the story to work. It would certainly up the stakes if that coincidence was taken out, but keeping them there and playing multi person chess would be a lot harder.

The SPK of America, and the police of Japan are now full of ladies. It turns Lady Lights' desire from controversial to expected again.

On the flipside, crime is also made up of ladies, such as Mello's Mafia, Misa's stalker, and independents such as Otoharada.

It's starting to feel kind of like Barbieland, as there is a noticeably higher number of named male characters then Female in the universe of Death Note. Like really, off the top of my head I can think of 13 named female characters in death note, and I'm including characters like Misa's friend Yoshi.

In this gender swapped Death Note, by 2009, there is something that hasn't happened in reality in the states. There is a Madame President, and Vice president. Mrs Roger is so done with Watari, she never wanted to spend this much time around children and here she is running an orphanage filled with them. I'm going to assume Linda is still into art.

In a world where Watari was the only one gender swapped,  I would wonder if Watari's past as an inventor was a bit like L being the world famous detective that no one sees. I also wonder about her backstory having her well trained in espionage, and marksmanship. Watari was born in 1933 (anime), which is in the range of world war 2, but would make her a young child when it started and ended. Does this mean that in the Death Note universe World War 2 lasted longer, or did England get up to orphan spy training programs, that later inspired Watari to create orphan detective programs. Wait, is this becoming a kind of crossover with Gallagher girls? After all, just because Watari founded a school in England, didn't mean she was from there. Also transfers were a thing. Or could have been. That's fun. 

I'd say Watari would have to be a lot louder to get such a rep as L's handler. After all, stupid people still exist even when you have a rep. I wonder if she used disguise to help? Of course, thats in a solo, and this is about everyone.

Aiber and Wedy

Wedy is L's profesional cat burglar and survalance expert. In story she mostly looks cool, installs some bugs to evesdrop, and rides a motorcycle. 

Aiber gets more to characterize himself and stand out. Aiber is L's professional con-man, and social infiltrator, said to be able to blend in with varied types of social groups. L has enough evidence to land Aiber in lifetime prison, and has saved Aiber's life a couple of times. Its also said (in how to read) that he is multilingual, often assumes fake identidies, and gets his biggest thrills from swindling and living on the edge. Basically. He sounds a bit like a male Black Widow, with less combat training, and tramatic backstory… presumably. Hmmm, also less brainwashing

L trusts Aiber enough to use one of the other detective names he stole, and play the roll of Eraldo Coil. I can't say if Aiber is playing the roll of L playing Coil, or original coil. He also, has a family, and heavily dislikes guns.

For the most part, they are pretty typecast by their character designs  if it were a story about any of them individually, there's more space for extrapolation, but in large groups it becomes a norm. Female Aiber could be interesting to explore as an individual. Actually, so could male. Same with Watari, or any of them really, by any writer who decides to get really invested in it.

Still, in fanwork, you have to consider the conservation of the ship of Theseus. At what point in replacing the parts do you have a new ship? Is it when the first nail is replaced? The fifth? The planks? The entire boat? Is it still the same boat after all that change? Likewise, you can never be the same person you were at eleven, or even two years ago. You have grown, your body has changed old cells out for new ones, and most importantly you have had experiences that filter your thoughts into directions that filter your perceptions.

At what point in changing a character do they become an OC committing identity fraud? What core traits are important to keeping a character”in character”, even when you change the experiences that filter their perception of the world? What changes with gender, and what stays the same? 

Gender is a big factor in the face we present to the world. It has expectations with it. And the expectations of gender in Japanese culture are different then the ones in the west. Japanese culture is collectivist, and group cohesion is placed higher than the west's individual needs. There is also a shame culture in the east, in contrast to the west's guilt culture. Confucius vs Christian values. There are benefits and pitfalls to both worldviews. 

It's not something anyone would know their first time watching eastern media, but with learning more about these cultural aspects, one can look back to characters they didn't previously understand the motives of in a new light.

Time is also a factor. The culture and expectations adults today grew up with, are different from the ones they would have experienced 20 years ago, for all that there have been things that stayed the same? 

I should also get into Honne and Tatemae. Tatemae is whats expected by society and required according to one's position and circumstances. The Honne is one's true feelings and desires, which may be contrary to society's expectations and is often kept hidden except with one's closest friends. 

It ties in with Japanese Confucianism Beliefs, of human centered virtues for harmonious and peaceful society. Essentially, in Japanese culture Public failure and disapproval of others are seen as a source of shame and reduced social standing, so direct confrontation is something they wish to avoid. The traditional social norm then is to minimize discord, not doing so might be seen as insulting or aggressive.

I feel a good example can be seen in this quote from this article.

“A Belgian friend of mine once kindly told a Japanese librarian that the English travel guides had been misplaced in the “History” section. The woman immediately started apologizing almost hysterically, bowing, hiding her face in her hands and looking so distressed that my Belgium friend started apologizing frantically as well, and left as fast as she could after putting the books back where they belonged. A Japanese student, had he or she noticed the mistake, would probably have took it upon himself or herself to silently put the books back into the right place, and nobody but a foreigner would have casually and publicly proclaimed something was wrong, thus unintentionally shaming the librarian and embarrassing themselves in the process.”

Not to say that we don't have social masks as well in the west. We do. But because its not talked about to keep social cohesion, you often don't realize you have been angering someone to the point hurt and resentment and grudges towards you has built up until things escalate.

Politeness is something that keeps society together. We have scripts for interacting with others to keep things even keel. We have rules that we all follow to more or less get along with other people. This is true of any lasting society. 

We all expect other people to follow the rules, and make exceptions for those we consider close to us.

Perhaps that paints Light's killing of criminals with more context. These people did not follow the rules for harmonious society.  Light told Rem to find someone selfish and cruel enough to be willing to use the Death Note, while being dumb enough to not spread out his corporate killings. She found Higuchi. Nobody likes him. His collages instantly pin him as Kira. He's a victim no one would have any qualms about dying if it were not for the Kira case.

Lights dream for the Millennium Kingdom-I mean- new world, consist of kind hearted people he deems fit to live in it. He claims that once the world as a whole changes people will become kinder as a whole. He starts with criminals, then plans to move to immoral people, and harassers, and has later plans to kill people who refuse to contribute to the good of society, or lazy people as he put them. I have to wonder whether Light living through “The Lost Decade” had any influence on his thoughts here?

He's basing who should live in the world he wishes to build on those who can follow the rules (both said and unsaid) of society he knows. And he is using the rules of Japanese Justice to enforce them.

The Phoenix Wright games are not a bad place to start understanding Japanese Justice. Japan has a 99.8% conviction rate in cases that go to trial. For all we make jokes about the confetti that comes down when Pheonix wins a case, with those numbers, winning a case as a Defense Attorney is rare, and worthy of celebration. 

While no real trial that I am aware of has needed to cross examine a parrot, Japan's “hostage justice” means a long uphill battle for an acquittal. 

On Japanese Justice

Japan also practices Capitol Punishment and the death penalty.

To Light, narcissist, son of a police officer, and good Japanese student, this is probably what everyone is secretly wanting but could never do. But he can. And will do it for them. And if not, well they will come around when they see how much better it is, his way. He just needs time to change the world.

But back to a point, of sorts, Eclipse and I try to keep a balance of sorts between what we know of Japanese culture, and fun headcanons. We certainly go into cracky territory (no regrets about Cat Misa here), but I also don't see a lot of reasons that most of the character traits with the other characters need to change with Gender, when gender is not the only factor that make up their persona. What we see of most of the other characters are what are culturally or socially expected of them. We don't see their Honne, just their Tatemae. 

I'm going to end this with another Lady Virgilia video about Persona 5, this one about Socialcultural context. P5 is very on the nose apt with its gameplay mechanic about removing their mask to send their will of rebellion out to fight.

because personally for me, i was literally born after nsync technically died, i was more used to it just being justin and that nsync was more of a fun fact on his behalf lmao. i only knew bye bye bye, it's gonna be me and merry christmas, happy holidays and probably pop because of jimmy neutron but that was it

it wasn't until the beginning of this year that my sisters and i started watching boyband music videos on youtube because when my one older sister was younger, radio disney i guess played pop and she hated that song when she was younger, so when she saw the music video we watched it,,,and kept on watching it the next couple of weeks and then their other music videos and at first, like i am with a lot of things i realize i might start getting interested in, i was in denial being like "oh i am NOT catching myself getting into some dead 1990s/2000s boyband with fucking justin timberlake in it like nuh uh" but then oh no!!! i realize i started watching their performances by myself and by spring/summer i already am familiar with all their names and searching for "nsync as vines" videos that i know i am already too deep in

and also on the last day of school back in june, to celebrate i guess, my sisters ordered pizza for us since our mom was out of the house and we watched the lou boyband con documentary and soon we want to watch the lance and joey movie together lol

ok sorry for explaining my nsync interest origin story i just felt like it hahah. i just have a lot of thoughts on nsync in general that i can make a whole ass video essay series about them but that's a later idea to execute

personally with me on any fandoms i usually am more shy i guess lol. i am just scared to interact with others in general because i am a socially anxious guy idk dsfjlkdslkf, that's why i follow like 84 blogs dfsljdsfkdsf and from what i seen a lot of the nsync fandom are people in their 30s which is fine! that's cool considering they did grow up in that era to experience the boyband phenomena like glad they are still enjoying something they liked 20+ years ago unlike me who never grew up with that and yeah boybands like one direction and big time rush existed, but a boyband craze like nsync i never was there to experience hahaha

considering the one direction fandom still seems to be going strong in some sense, i am not surprised nsync has been as well (at least on other platforms but i don't fuck with instagram/tiktok fandoms). but anyways personally for me i feel awkward for the most part being in the nsync fandom, the fans i have met are generally very nice (like you!) but i still feel a bit odd for not being a millennial who grew up with them but instead a chronically online gen z teen who found them really because my older sister in the late '00s hated a song of theirs lol

but anyways once again i am saur sorry for that long ass answer i just have a lot of thoughts about this stupid ass band, but once again feel free to stay! you're welcomed here :D thank you so much!

so bradley definitely cooks and she’s gotten way better and is no longer burning risotto anymore (she makes a mean stir fry - bradley did you know corn starch makes the sauce thicker? yeah, sweetheart, i did, sorry - but are way too competitive, so they only play board games if they can be on the same team? (monopoly is banned from the house). instead, they’re really into movies and tv shows (i know in my bones those two are obsessed with hbo 9pm sunday shows and when either one of them is out of town and misses an episode, they both wait till they’re together). she also teases bradley for liking dad movies (biopics, history and war movies, ford vs. ferrari…), but she just loves snuggling up with him on the sofa 🥰 i think she both of them travel a lot, they like to stay in and be with each other when they are home?

and for the reading part….so @howdysebby mentioned this once and i am in love with the idea. since smart aleck’s always going to off-sites and traveling for work, she’s a big reader. and yeah she reads the typical new yorker and new york magazine picks etc - but she also loves those regency romance novels with the gaudy covers that i imagine are in never ending stacks in hudson news stockrooms through the country’s airports. and so tiernan had this idea that smart aleck tries to like occasionally incorporate some of the more cringe dialogue from said books when her and bradley are intimate because she loves nothing more than messing with him? and at first bradley is like what the fuck woman? but he eventually kind of likes it? this only happens when they’ve been together for awhile? like when they’re engaged and on, but i just thought it was hilarious and perfect for them

Basically Addison posted on her Insta story a picture of her eating one of the snacks that JK recommended to ARMY and she said “Jungkook knows best”. I genuinely pray that she’s just talking about the snack. Do you think that JK is gonna have her in the MV?

I don't know enough about Addison Rae's current popularity curve or her music career to tell. It seems BigHit is starting to build a pattern around connecting BTS to POC artists these days.

Wikipedia says she released an EP this August so i guess it would be a great move on her side, but i'm not sure it would benefit BTS. I think she did this story in order to gather interest from ARMYs, but it looks a bit far fetched to be an actual teaser.

I never heard of JK showing musical interest in Addison Rae, so even if she does show up in the mv (which i pray she doesnt bc omg "im obsessed" was horrible) i think it would be tactical move from BigHit and her label rather an artistic choice.
