The more I think about it, I can’t see the ‘Sacrifice Chloe’ ending as the happy ending, even ignoring my bias for her character. Yes, if you don’t choose to sacrifice her, many people die, some of which are friends of Max such as Warren, but I’m talking thematically.

The moment William died, Chloe’s life fell apart. Joyce cared more about her own grief and moving away from her husband, she married David, who was abusive towards Chloe. He only cared about making her see ‘his’ side and never empathising with her issues.

While Joyce did love Chloe, she only sees reason if Chloe sees her side of things. She was a traumatised grieving teen who wasn’t allowed to grieve, so she turned to drugs, alcohol, anything to take the pain away and stop her thinking too much about how much she was hurting.

While Max had issues of her own and distanced due to not being able to handle her emotions and fear of abandonment. On Chloe’s side, it felt like her best friend and soulmate left her and found new friends while she was left alone, struggling without anyone.

Rachel quite literally saved Chloe's life. She was her 'angel' and without Rachel's influence, Chloe might've succumbed to her suicidal ideation. Her love for Rachel was genuine and Rachel loved her back. They wanted to escape the town that hurts and traps the both of them.

That was until Rachel’s light and fire were washed out by people such as Frank, and later, Jefferson, only to die in the same town she wanted to leave from. Chloe once again had someone she loved forceably taken from her by the godforsaken town that didn’t allow her to be her. Max coming back to Arcadia Bay figuratively and literally saved her. Max’s love and care for Chloe is genuine, despite their miscommunication and distance over the past 5 years. Max defied destiny to save the girl, who only wanted to be accepted and loved. I just can’t view Max sacrificing Chloe just to prevent the storm as a happy ending. Letting the town wash away is thematically healing for both Chloe, Max, and Rachel, who finally could rest in peace. It’s the closest thing to a happy ending and Chloe can finally be free.

Has anyone made you feel bad for being a huge fan of Rachel? Or have they made you feel guilty for choosing the Sacrifice Chloe ending? For me personally, I get more people looking at me as a bad person for choosing to save the town :/ Your girl is struggling and thinking about leaving the fandom because of these things.

No. Despite all the hate Rachel gets I know that it all stems from a place of misunderstanding/blindness towards who she really is, ignorance of the context of her circumstances and/or just pure biasness against AmberPrice. I'd say that choosing to save a town shows that you're a person with a big heart that cares for a greater number of people, which in a way is doing the right thing morally. It's actually a + point in my eyes. (Lmao I love Chloe but she literally said maybe it's her destiny and wants to save her family too, are they deaf for not hearing that part?? Let her be a hero and do what she wishes to do, is that so wrong? People be like nah imma save her cuz *I* love her and *I* care about her the most. Where's the altruism?) but still, I respect both decisions and choices.

As for those people that guilt-trip you or make you feel bad for liking the sweet girl Rachel and choosing a morally sound ending, best thing to do is to ignore them or stop talking to them specifically. (Blocking helps, too) There's more to the LiS fandom than those people, like I've met people who chose bay and love Rachel as much as I do as well, or good people that respect your choice because they also value you as a person. I'd say stick around with those people and this part of the fandom that you resonate with / don't have to feel bad about, and leave those that makes you feel bad for doing absolutely nothing wrong/liking a well-deserved character for her humanity, behind.

So yeah no one could really change my opinion much 😂 I wouldn't feel bad because I'm liking a lovable character! HAHAHAH idk if it's just cuz I'm stubborn, but finding the right people and those that respect you is also important. To quote a friend, it's 'AmberPrice against the world' really.
