First Appearance: Batman and Robin #5 (December, 2009)
Story: The Mooney crime family would suffer great losses from a hideous turf war with rival gangster Antoine Rotelli, who had received aid from none other than Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, otherwise known the Penguin. Fish would then seek out aid from an crime organizer known only as The Lady, for she had heard tales that she had employed some of the deadliest assassins in the world. One such assassin went by the name of Flamingo. Mooney's goal was simple, first be rid of Rotelli, then exact her revenge on Cobblepot, and the Flamingo, was the perfect man for the job. Though she were successful in exacting vengeance on Rotelli, Fish failed to see that Eduardo had a nature beyond her comprehension. When Mooney set out to inform Eduardo of Cobblepot, a horrid surprise awaited her in the guest room. There Flamingo sat, in a chair, devouring the very face of the slain Rotelli, and on a plate were the remaining muscles that were torn off the body a second time. Horrified, she ordered her men to kill Flamingo, but it only ended with her guards slain, and her taken hostage by the cannibal. Eventually, the mad man was defeated by Batman and Commissioner Gordon, and both he and Mooney were taken into custody.
Bio: Real name: Eduardo Flamingo Occupation: Assassin Base of Operation: Gotham City Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown(normal) Pink(dyed) Height: 6ft Weight:150lbs
Attributes: One of the deadliest assassins in the world. Known as The Eater of Faces for his cannibalistic tendencies towards his victims. Flamingo's behavior and mindset can change rapidly. Torturer. High pain tolerance. Expert hand-to-hand combatant. Expert marksman and firearms.
Dream voice actor: Raúl Castillo
Featured song: Faceless by Red
Notes:
I tried to make my own design for Flamingo, but doing such was more difficult than I expected, so I heavily used Phil-Co's design to create a design that is still in my opinion too close to his.
The face he is holding is no one specific, but it is a reference to Joker from the New 52, when he is holding his old face with a smile on his face.
I was looking to fit in the Gotham design in the drawing as well, but in the end, it didn't translate that well.
His beard and moustache were dyed pink to reference his cameo appearance from Batman: The Brave and the Bold, more particularly, The Knights of Tomorrow episode.

What IS Raúl Esparza? Like, on one hand he can be this totally dangerous-looking, sexy bastard of a trash can a la Nevada Ramirez. But then he's also able to be someone like Alfredo, and you just wanna hold his hand and talk about the meaning of life and what you think love is?!?! ... And then you got Raúl just going, "I'm a penguin! 😃" Seriously, what phenomena of man is he!?!?
What is Raúl Esparza, you ask…well…I will say it in the simplest way I can. Raúl Esparza is a literal gift from God to the world. A rare and priceless gem that we, as a society, have had the privilege to behold and live amongst in our lifetime. I honestly feel as though one hundred years from now, when we’re all gone and drama students are reading about the history of musical theater, one or all of them will feel about Raúl Esparza the way I feel about Elvis Presley today, ‘God, what an amazing talent, and he did so many wonderful things! Man, I wish I had been born when he was around. I would’ve loved to have seen him perform, even just once.”
Performers/people like Raúl Esparza don’t come around very often, and it’s something so simple that we should all appreciate. If you ever get a chance to see this man perform, or meet him or both, do not let it pass you by. Rest assured, he will be one of those performers who will be talked about for generations to come.
Thank you so much for this question!! Also, I have never seen this gif before, anyone know where it’s from? He looks super focused!!

I wasn’t tagged by anyone, technically; though, a few of you did say that I should go ahead and do this anyway!
Rules: Answer these questions, and tag 20(+) amazing followers that you’d like to get to know better.
Name: Sarah
Nicknames: Bee
Zodiac sign: Aquarius, and I am as independent and aloof as an Aquarius can get.
Hogwarts House: *sighs* Honestly, I think I’m just a muggle, you guys.
Height: 5′2″ so super tall.
Orientation: Asexual
Ethnicity: French-Canadian and Italian. Also, I just found out I’m a little bit Irish?!
Favourite Fruit: Blueberries
Favourite Season: Autumn. It’s got the prettiest colors and the least oppressive allergies.
Favourite Book Series: I’m not big on series. Jennifer Weiner writes my favorite brain fluff, though, and her stories sometimes vaguely interweave.
Favorite Fictional Characters: Rafael Barba and Sonny Carisi (SVU), Eli Gold (The Good Wife), Mazikeen (Lucifer), The Fucking Doctor, literally everyone on Brooklyn 99 (even The Viper!)
A Fictional Character I’d like as a sibling: Amy Santiago. I need her Type-A personality to pull my ass together (and I think she could use a buffer from her small army of brothers).
Favorite Flower: Ghost lilies! They’re the prettiest flowers ever, and I grow them in my yard.
Favorite Scent: Right now, I’m super into Prada Candy (yay, affordable rollerball size!), but my ride or die scent - fifteen years running - is GAP Dream!
Also, PETRICHOR. It’s the smell produced by rain. It is instantly calming for me.
Favorite Color: purple and yellow!
Favorite Animal: Domestic: cats. Otherwise: PENGUINS.
Favorite Artist/Band: You’re gonna make me out myself as a country music fan?! ZAC BROWN BAND. This is actually the first summer in five years that I won’t be seeing them live, and it’s killing me a little.
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Cocoa: Coffee for the morning, but tea throughout the rest of the day.
Average Sleep Hours: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Number of Blankets You Sleep With: I keep my room cold, so I’m always buried in my fuzzy throw blanket and comforter.
Dream Trip: A whirlwind tour of every Disney Park. Also, Hawaii. And I really think I’d dig an Alaskan cruise.
Last Thing Googled: A phone number I didn’t recognize.
Blog Created : 2012, and this is the SECOND one.
How many Blogs do I follow: 253. I’m picky.
Number of Followers: 615
What do I usually post about: Raúl...and other stuff, sometimes? There really is no rhyme or reason to this thing.
Do you get asks regularly: Not really.
What’s your aesthetic: Athleisure wear covered in Smartfood cheese dust

The creation story of the atomic bomb told through a powerful and moving picture book
"I had seen some of the interior art and text at that point, and I was intrigued by the way the tone of both Jeanette Winter's illustrations and her son Jonah Winter's text so thoroughly conveyed the almost frenzied, kinetic energy of the inventors and the eerily quiet secrecy of the The Secret Project. After reading the book, I realized that I had greatly underestimated the importance of the telling in its entirety, which is done so masterfully by the Winters."

Kindness is the key as Hampton students celebrate Black History Month
A favorite project of Wyland Elementary third-grade art teacher Kate Powell is the creation of a large fabric and paper quilt inspired by the children's novel "Tar Beach," written by African-American artist Faith Ringgold.
The book centers around a young girl who lives in the city but dreams she can fly and about the places she would go. The character made quilts that demonstrated her dreams for herself and for the world, said Powell.
"I think they really understood the idea each one of us is capable of actions in making it a better world," said Powell.
Koble said her students identified with the book's character who is also 8 years old, like many of them. Koble stresses that she tries to incorporate lessons celebrating differences throughout the year, not just during Black History Month.

NIE Blog Black History Month profile: Lucille Clifton
Spotlight on Lucille Clifton
Lucille Clifton's career as a poet was off to a sensational start. In 1970 she began another career as an author of children's books. Some of the Days of Everett Anderson was the first of a series about a boy growing up in the inner city. Clifton also wrote for children's television. She shared an Emmy award as a co-writer of the TV special Free to Be You and Me in 1974.
Clifton was popular with academic critics as well as young readers. Her poetry was minimalist, featuring short, uncapitalized and unrhymed lines. It was powerful without being ornate, expressing in spare, direct language her life experiences and her imagination of history, mythology and politics.

The Prolific Pen Of Naomi Shihab Nye
It might be a challenging question to ask Naomi Shihab Nye where she's from. Nye is a poet-novelist-essayist, born in St. Louis, but raised in both San Antonio and Jerusalem. Nye is Palestinian-American, and her large body of work reflects the many influences in her life, from West Texas to the Middle East.
She visits Ashland for a speaking engagement tonight (February 13th), and drops by the studio for an advance on the evening. We just try to fit a sampling of her skills and wisdom into a single hour.

These books encourage acceptance of self and others
"The books reviewed today take a look at the idea that we are different from one another, and that there is nothing wrong with that. Instilling this idea in children will help them see others with greater sensitivity and compassion, and I think we can all agree the world needs more of that attitude."
