Timeline of Surge’s Life 

(Contains sensitive subject matter, drugs, abuse, death, starvation, none of this is being romanticized, I am a person with my own traumas writing a complex character, please be respectful, do not read if you are not comfortable with listed subject matter.)

Surge is forged in the well of allsparks, an Iaconian mafia group provides an under-the-table payment to the overseeing security to sneak out a couple of newbuilds for their own use, to have workers without an understanding of the world; Surge is among those. He is undocumented, unknown, and learns most of what he knows from an older femme who had been stuck working for Fiasco for many years, Jubilee.

If not for this occurring, Surge would have been taken into the youth academy in Vos, and raised as a mid-caste citizen, with rights to education, free choice of function, and a surrounding culture of seekers to influence him.

Jubilee was a waitress and dancer “employed” at Fiasco’s bar and club (realistically, she had no choice to leave because of what information she knew). This establishment was a front for the local mob to sell substances. Surge was trained into this position as well, entertaining patrons, both knowing and unknowing ones. Jubilee was the only warmth in his life.

Surge begins to take notice of the Decepticon movement. He sneaks out of the building at an increasing frequency, just to listen to Megatron’s speeches. He is moved, he is shaken. He knows that even if he did escape the grip of the Iaconian mob, being an unclassified, undocumented Cybertronian, he would default to the lowest caste, and suffer all the same. He finally gathers the strength and the courage to enlist in the Decepticon party, and requests to be immediately recruited into the forces, under the false name “Neon.”

Surge is immediately enrolled in higher education, in the beginning the Decepticon party was good about providing for their ranks, and Surge had been seen as a promising asset. 

Upon graduation with a doctorate in the field of organic science, Surge is employed in a Decepticon laboratory where he analyzes and documents dangerous organic life forms and pathogens. He is fully unaware that his work is being used even higher up in the chain of command- Shockwave is compiling Surge’s work to create the ultimate cyberforming virus, a pathogen that can wipe out all organic life on a planet so that it can be adequately used.

Much later, upon finding out that his work is being abused, he undergoes a one-mech stealth operation to retrieve the supervirus sample and all connected files, and get rid of them. Fulfilling this mission by the skin of his teeth, he ejects the file drive and vial of the virus sample through the space bridge, to a random quadrant of empty space.

Despite not being directly caught in the act, his higher ups suspect him of being the guilty party, and send him out on a field mission to the stormy wasteland planet of Xenon, where he was to act as the field guide for a platoon of Decepticon troops who were there to challenge the localized Autobot forces. This was a suicide mission.

Surge’s troop is pushed back into the inhospitable caverns locally referred to as “The Gulch” by the Autobot assailants, where they stand at vigil, gradually running their tanks dry. Eventually, the remaining survivors resort to energon siphoning of their fallen comrades as the Decepticon fleet refuses to send aid.

Ultra Magnus (before he is appointed as commander over the Wreckers) is the leader of this autobot operation on Xenon, and upon fully cornering the remaining Decepticons, he has a moment of mercy. These mechs were unarmed, starved, and clearly abandoned. He offers them an ultimatum- come with him as prisoners, or abandon the Decepticon cause and join him. Surge chooses the Autobots, knowing full well that their ideals have deviated too far for him to follow.

Ultra Magnus listens to Surge’s story, quietly nodding and accepting what the seeker tells him, and agrees to lock down all of Surge’s previous documentation as a Decepticon. He saw Surge as a good mech with good intentions, which was something he seldom saw in people. 

Surge was re-enlisted as an experienced organic biologist and field guide under the command of Captain Hailstorm

Through his time with Captain Hailstorm, Surge gradually noticed the similarities between himself and his Captain, until one day the truth came out between them during a moment of vulnerability, and they found out that they were both former Decepticons.

Surge and Hailstorm worked together for millenia, scouting new lands for autobot reconnaissance and protecting local wildlife from Decepticon onslaughts, but eventually their luck ran out. Hailstorm was scouting with Surge, attempting to put together an itinerary for the next day’s travel, only to return to the remains of their small team. A Decepticon night raid had taken place, and most of their resources had been lost, with the exception of Hailstorm’s personal ship, which only responded to his own biometrics.

While they are fleeing, Hailstorm suggests an impulsive idea- to flee from the war altogether, after all, at this point in time, the autobots had a clear advantage, surely the war was nearly over. Surge conceded, though he wasn’t entirely on board with the idea of abandoning their post, he cared deeply for Hailstorm and feared that this was his breaking point, believing that it would be a death sentence to force him to return to post.

The two made their way for Earth, a planet far removed from the conflict that served as a secret energon reserve - however, Hailstorm’s ship had not been sufficiently fueled for the trip, and as they entered the solar system, they found themselves being pulled in my the intense gravitational pull of the local gas giant, Jupiter.

Thankfully Jupiter’s moon, Europa, was caught between the trajectory of the ship and the great planet, and they crash landed on the moon’s icy surface instead. The two seemed to have survived the crash safely enough, though Surge was unaware that Hailstorm had sustained a head injury in the crash.

With no ship, no fuel, and no other options, Hailstorm decided that he would continue to Earth in his altmode (being that he was a flyer, and Surge was ground-based), and return with energon and means to repair the ship.

The two said their goodbyes, and Surge waited. Hailstorm never returned, as the turbulence from flying aggravated his head injury, thwarting his return. It is unknown whether he survived, or ever actually arrived on earth.

Millenia pass by as Surge slips in and out of cold-stasis. He is completely unaware of the passage of time, and every time he awakens, he sends out a desperate distress signal, though no one ever responds.

Eventually he wakes up one last time. Certain that he would not have enough energon to wake from stasis again, he forces himself to stay awake and sends out one last plea for aid, though he sincerely believes that these will be his last hours alive, and tries to make peace with his life.

During this time, Wheeljack happens to be exiting Earth, being that he had not wanted to stay put with Team Prime just yet. He had been hoping to pick up on any distress signals from fellow Wreckers, and when he received the broadcast coming from Jupiter’s moon, he raced to the scene with dedication. Although he knew the signal was not from someone he knew, he had a sense of duty to rescue them no less.

As Surge finds himself once again losing consciousness, which he knows will be the last time, Wheeljack’s ship, the Jackhammer, descends. The wrecker managed to get to Surge just in time, using what meager supplies he had, and what field medicine he knew to revive the fallen autobot.

The two didn’t know it at the time, but this chance encounter would forge a lifelong bond of friendship, love, and healing.

Deliveries of the Su-57 to the Russian Air Force with second-stage engine "will occur in the near future"

Russia's Rostec State Corporation is prepared to deliver Sukhoi Su-57 combat aircraft with the advanced Izdeliye-30 (Product 30) or second stage engine.

According to a Rostec statement of May 12, the Su-57 is currently in testing with the second-stage engine, with plans to deliver aircraft equipped with these new engines in the near future.

“The Su-57 is being tested with a second-stage engine. Deliveries of aircraft with new engines are planned for the near future,” the company said.

Although not confirmed, it is expected that all future Su-57 will be equipped with the Izdeliye-30 (AL-51F-1) engine, marking a crucial step to the full realization of the Stealth capabilities of the Su-57 in series production.

Since the end of 2022, the Russian Aerospace Forces have received several batches of Su-57 aircraft, some with the new engine, promising greater thrust and supercruise capabilities.

The Izdeliye-30 engine has a post-combustion thrust of 18,000 kgf and a maximum thrust of 11,000 kgf, resulting in a 1.2-fold increase in the thrust-to-weight ratio. This increases the ascent rates to 330-350 m/s and agility during maneuvers. It also raises the service ceiling and supersonic cruising speed to 2,150-2,200 km/h, with a maximum speed of 2,600-2,700 km/h.

The introduction of the Izdeliye-30 engine is expected to improve game thrust, fuel efficiency and reduce weight and maintenance requirements.

A striking feature of the Izdeliye-30 engine is its exhaust nozzle that increases thrust efficiency, stability, maneuverability and reduces engine noise. The addition of chevron-shaped exhaust nozzles significantly reduces the aircraft's infrared (IR) and radar signatures, improving its stealth characteristics.

The AL-51F-1 (Izdeliye 30) is an advanced turbofan engine with two-axis, low bypass post-combustion design. Notable improvements over its predecessor, the AL-41F1, include fiberglass plastic IGVs and convergent-divergent nozzles with serrated flaps to minimize radar visibility. The AL-51F-1 engine also shows a 19% increase in the thrust/weight ratio, a 6.4% increase in specific thrust and a 9% reduction in specific fuel consumption.

Having 205/40 R17 tires on its wheels and a firmer suspension setup to ensure the Fiesta ST stays stable on suitable road conditions, I did notice it felt unstable on imperfect pavement. The Ford Puma ST can be equipped with either a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder petrol engine generating 197bhp, or a 168bhp 1.0-liter Powershift version with mild-hybrid technology. The 1.5-liter engine has strong power at low rpm and increases power in a consistently linear manner. With an endorsed 0-62mph time of 6.7 seconds, there are faster sports SUVs available, but the performance is sufficient for it to be an enjoyable driving experience. The Powershift variant takes 0.7 seconds more to reach 0-62mph, making it seem somewhat ordinary compared to other models in its class. Although it remains fairly lively and adaptable for regular driving, there's a slight sense of disappointment when comparing it. Another important distinction between the two engines is that the 1.5-liter option is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, whereas the Powershift model features a seven-speed automatic transmission. The manual transmission has quick gear changes and optimal gear ratios, allowing you to fully utilize the distinctive engine. The automated transmission smoothly and rapidly changes gears, but manual gear changes can be made using the paddles on the steering wheel if preferred. No matter which engine you choose, the standout feature of the Puma ST is its handling. If you ease off the gas pedal while turning, the car will gradually rotate on its front wheels, helping you steer it accurately out of the corner. (Cheung, 2024)

The selection of Crewmembers started on the very same day that the SR 71 was announced. President Johnson did not reverse the letters. RS when he announces the SR-71!

For years I had heard that President Johnson became dyslexic when he announced for the first time that the United States had developed a Mach 3 reconnaissance aircraft, the SR-71. The story was that President Johnson was supposed to name the Blackbird the “RS-71” and that he confused the letters, reversed them, and said “SR-71.” I always thought what a waste of time and money they have to change the lettering to protect the mistake of a President. It was SR-71 pilot Rich Graham that investigated and got the true story.

The very same day, July 24, 1964, when President Johnson announced that there was an SR-71, the interviews started. They were not wasting any time.

Doug Nelson went to Carswell Air Force Base in Texas; this is where half of the B 58’s were stationed. B- 58’s had many similarities to the SR-71, it was fast capable of going Mach 2, and use the stars as navigation .The first men selected for the interview, a computer actually selects them! Colonel Nelson later told my Dad that he was so relieved when he said yes. The first crew’s ( pilot and navigator) for this spectacular new airplane were picked to go to Brooks for the Astronaut physical. They had to pass the physical. They also ran a risk; If they found anything wrong with the candidate, they might be grounded. My Dad, Butch Sheffield, wrote in his unpublish Book that my parents had talked over and decided to leave the B-58 program for this new airplane if the opportunity came. Dad told my mom (Rosie)that this new plane would be safer than B-58:approximately 1/4 of all the B 58’s crashed!

During the 1964 presidential campaign, Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater repeatedly criticized President Lyndon B. Johnson and his administration for falling behind the Soviet Union in developing new weapons.

The media transcript given to the press at the time still had the earlier RS-71 designation in place, creating the story that the President had misread the aircraft's designation. Not true. It was Curtis LeMay who wanted a different name. Strategic Reconnaissance is what the SR stood for.

Originally designated RS-71, the Skunk Works was forced to change about 29,000 blueprints to SR-71 when Lyndon Johnson turned the letters around during his 1964 announcement acknowledging the existence of the airplane.

But the official transcript shows it wasn't a flub by President Johnson. Supposedly Air Force Chief of Staff General Curtis LeMay preferred the SR (Strategic Reconnaissance) designation and wanted the RS-71 to be named SR-71. Before the July speech, LeMay lobbied to modify Johnson's speech to read SR-71 instead of RS-71.

No matter the reason, in July 1964, President Johnson announced the existence of the SR-71 Strategic Reconnaissance airplane. Selection started with my father, Richard “Butch” Sheffield on that very same day.

Also chosen from the B 58 program, Robert “Gray” Sowers, Hal Confer, Al Hichew, John Storrie, Dale Shelton, and Earle Boone were selected to be Pilots. The RSO’s’s that were chosen beside my father, Coz Mollozzi, Tom Schmittou, Larry Boggess, and Dewain Vick. They all were the finest man that I was privileged to know.
