Lore Note: Mukondi had a friend of friend who knew someone get in touch with some underground information brokers to help her locate facilities and corporations who had acquired her tech and were either intending or already using it for nefarious purposes. Somewhere down the line Sombra was the one holding said information and the pair were digitally acquainted.

76) What are your character’s hobbies?

Mukondi has picked up and dropped a lot of hobbies in her life, outside of her special interest in magnets and her love of science she’s tried all sorts of things to occupy her spare time. These days she mostly alternates between playing video games, studying computer science (the latest in a long, long line of “trying something other than magnets just in case”) and tinkering with her magnetic tech.

Neutral Good Orc Wizard who hunts for magical artefacts.

79) If they could go back in time and change one thing what would it be?

She would go back and destroy her technology before the government ever got hold of it.

83) Do they have any pets or companions?

Yes! She has a mechanical bipedal raptor-like pet called Byter which was gift from one of her friends at Oxford. It was a prototype model based on the Slicers used by Null Sector during the King’s Row uprising, but designed to be a pet-like companion. The project got rejected so Byter was the only finished, functional prototype and was actually meant to be permanently deactivated, but Mukondi liked it so much her friend snuck it out of the lab and gave it to her. Now Byter primarily lives in Nairobi, but it joins Mukondi on some of her missions.

84) What’s their favourite music genre?

Her time at Oxford gave her a taste for British Punk-rock/punk-pop (Her campus roommate never stopped playing it, so it was get used to it or go insane), but she loves listening to K-Pop while she works. For a while she tried learning Korean so she could sing along better, but she got bored and gave up halfway through. So now she’s real good at ordering Bibimbap at the local Korean restaurant and owns a bunch of books for learning Korean, but she’s not that much better at singing along to the songs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He earned his title “Lancealot” when he started bringing vigilante justice to villains who would prey on the innocent, doing so by way of a custom order rocket-lance, and more than a few other pieces of experimental tech from all over the place (Paid for in earnest by Lance, but not, not stolen by the mysterious woman who sold it to him (It was Sombra)). He’s quite proud of the name he’s made for himself, proud of the noble deeds he performed to earn it.

17) Do they have any scars? How did they get these?

Yes quite a few, most noticeably on his face but also his arms and chest. Training to fight villains, armed or otherwise, is bound to bare a few scrapes and bruises in the early days, and the same goes for fighting villains, armed and otherwise. several of his facial scars are from explosions, some aimed at him, some not, some from his lance, in the early days. Many of his other scars are from bullets, knives, other explosions, his own lance again, once, and one on his left hand is from a cat none to happy about being “rescued” from a tree.

Reaper: “Great, another wannabe dragon fighter...”

Lancealot: “Like the edgy ghost thing’s so much more in fashion...”

Lore Note... I think?: I don’t know if Lance would actually be this bitchy, but the opportunity presented itself and I just had to do it to Gabe. Also I guess my headcannon is that Hot Topic went under around the start of the Omnic Crisis and never recovered? IDK man it’s more lore than Michael Chu will give you.

Lancealot: “Reinhardt! Er, I mean, Mr. Wilhelm, I mean... Lieutenant? I’m sorry it’s just good to see you again sir!”

Reinhardt: “Bwahaha! Calm yourself my exuberant friend! Reinhardt is fine!”

He, like many people, was wary and distrustful of omnics after the Crisis, but he was never a hateful man. A couple years after he took up the mantle of knighthood he was confronted with the scene of some hateful humans harassing a pair of omnics, threatening violence, and knew in that moment which side he stood on. After he’d scared off the omnic-haters, he escorted the pair of omnics to their home where they invited him to stay for tea. Since then he has stood staunchly in defence of omnics and their rights.

74) Does your character have any enemies? What is their relationship like?

Lancealot actually has quite a following of enemies, a large portion of the criminal underbelly of his home country of The Netherlands making up not a small amount of them. A few larger crime bosses he has rather personally thwarted more than once, and privately thinks of himself like a comic superhero, and them his nemesis’. 

76) What are your characters hobbies?

Lance is a bit of a Gym Bunny, taking his spare moments between sleep and crime fighting to hit the weights, run on the treadmill and do pushups with his elderly neighbour Mrs. Pedersen perched on his back with her weeks shopping and a good book. (Mrs. Pedersen likes the company, and, in her own words, “Having a big strong man lift me up again”. Lance originally just wanted to help her with her bags...)

84) What’s their favourite music genre?

At the gym? Inspirational pop songs all the way. Hosting guests? Classical for neighbours, pop-punk for friends and family. Alone? Hard rock.

67) How did the Omnic Crisis affect your character?

Jinan young enough to have grown up during the Crisis, but to not have really “lived” through it. The child of well off scientists they were kept well away from the true dangers and horrors of the crisis while still being quite aware of it. They’ve never feared omnics the way a lot of people their age have and still do, and they never lost friends or family to the war.

71) Does your character have any relationship with canon characters? What are they like?

Jinan is personally familiar with Moira, having lived in Oasis since it’s inception and being personally acquainted with all the ministers through their parents. The pair... do not see eye to eye on quite a few matters, but Jinan does not share the animosity that say mercy and winston hold for her.

76) What are your character’s hobbies?

They garden religiously, the child of botanists raised surrounded by plants, living in a city with famously beautiful gardens maintained by said botanist parents? It’s only natural they would love plants to such an extent as to be called “Flower Child”. Besides gardening they like to swim, read and cook; though they are not good at the last thing, SB being a far better chef.

77) If they played d&d what class and race would they pick?

A wood elf Arcane Archer, chaotic good, barely kept in check by SB’s paladin.

Compassion, a good heart, someone willing to learn and grow, big strong arms, someone willing to binge watch so-bad-they’re-good TV shows into the early hours of the morning.

SB want’s to make the world a better place. She wants a world where people don’t have to suffer, and she can sleep at night without feeling like she’s failing the world through inaction.

20) What element best represents them?

Metal LMAO. But seriously I think SB is aligned with earth. She steadfast and hardy, not just physically but mentally, she’s been through a lot, a lot of pain and suffering, she’s lost years of her life to stasis, she lost friends to a war and experiments she can’t even remember except in bloody PTSD flashbacks, and despite it all she carries on, she chooses to continue fighting because she knows it’s right, and she finds the strength to still love, and be kind, despite it all. And that makes me think of the earth elemental.

Lore Note: While SB was recovering in Oasis after she was originally brought there, she was treated by several ministers, including Moira, though she has little memory of that time. Just what Moira did to SB is unclear, but it did stop the severe rejection of her cybernetics that she was experiencing and objectively saved her life.

75) Is your character emotional or logical?

Emotional. Most of my OW OC’s are, many of them are driven by a desire to right a world gone wrong, to fight injustice and protect the downtrodden, and that all has a root in emotional decision making. SB is constantly at war with herself, full of fear, and love, and resolve. She does what she does because if she didn’t she couldn’t live with herself.

76) What are your character’s hobbies?

SB loves to garden, obviously introduced to it by her partner Jinan, she finds it therapeutic, using her sharp mechanical limbs designed to destroy, to plant and nurture make her feel better, especially doing it in the company of her beloved. She also loves to read, or more specifically be read to; audio books, being read to by Jinan, attending lectures at the Oasis university, etc.

77) If they played d&d what class and race would they pick?

Her and Jinan rolled a pair of wood elves together. SB’s is a Lawful Good paladin.

84) What’s their favourite music genre?

Metal, LMAO. But seriously, she has a taste for classical music, especially Vivaldi. She’s also partial to 80′s ballads, and likes to yell Bonnie Tyler lyrics as she sweeps Jinan off their feet and twirls them around their home.

85) What do they smell like?

Meta- you get the joke. But seriously, probably metal, I mean she’s legit like 80% cybernetics? She smells like metal, anti-rust polish and a hint of WD-40, idk what to tell you.

86) Are they good with children?

Yes and no. SB love kids, but she doesn’t trust herself around them. She’s quite literally a war machine covered in spikes who suffers with severe PTSD. While not on the battlefield she changes what limbs and plating she can to reduce her spiky-ness and she doesn’t tend to have violent outbursts when flashbacks hit, but that doesn’t change how she feels, and so doesn’t risk it.

Okay so these have been rotting in my inbox for like 7~8 months but since I finally got around to redesigning Kefilwe, and want to get the get up and go to do a proper drawing of her, I figure, heck, let’s finally answer this.31) Give us an in-game interaction between your character and McCree.

Kefilwe: What on earth are you wearing?

McCree: My nicest shirt, thank you very much.

Pharah: Kefilwe Naidoo? I heard about what you did during the Crisis, fighting on the front lines when you were barely older than I was. You were very brave.

Kefilwe: I was very scared. Not as scared as my brother perhaps, but certainly not as brave as my sister...

Lore Note: Kefilwe had an older sister called Cebisa who died in the Crisis. Her younger brother is called Themba.

Sombra: So, ‘Firestarter’, how’s you research going? I’ve been hearing very interesting things about it lately...

Kefilwe: There’s nothing you’ll hear from me you won’t already know, ‘Sombra’.

Lore Note: Oh yea, they’re flirting here. Big time. But on a serious note, Kefilwe plans on joining Recalled Overwatch, but first she’s doing some digging on her own, looking into the second Omnic Crisis, which is leading her down some of the same avenues as Sombra, re: Talon, Vishkar, Volskya, talking to a few Ex-Overwatch agents etc. In canon, they’ve met more than once face to face, and both are interested in, but are not particularly threatened by, the other.

But in case you wanted to know, Kefilwe ‘convincing’ Sym to set up that interview was her getting very close to Sym, slowly brushing a single stray hair from her fringe to behind her ear and saying “Hey”, and then she did the Sym equivalent to melting like butter. Lore Note: Visor is literally the only character who doesn’t know that Reaper is Gabriel Reyes or that Soldier:76 is Jack Morrison. He’s the only one. The day they were both declared dead to the world he cried himself to sleep. He still gets teary when he looks at the poster of them he has over his bed. No one has the heart to tell him they’re both alive but one’s a literal demon and the other became a grouch, so they all just pretend. That scene in frozen where kristof says “I’m gonna tell him” and anna says “No you are not” is Sombra and Tracer every time he talks about them.

Nope, i can’t do it. the canon is that, even non-canonically Visor and Roadie do NOT interact. Not verbally. Visor waves, Roadhog gives a long, silent, mask-covered stare, and then Visor sweats profusely while looking terrified and leaves. There’s your interaction.

Visor: Woah, international superstar DJ Lúcio Correia dos Santos is here!?

Lucio: Keep it down man, I’m tryn’a keep a low profile!

Lore Note: I know, I know, the game isn’t canon, Lucio isn’t actually joining a bunch of vigilantes, mercenaries and his personal arch nemesis to shoot his and their clones in random yet critical locations around the globe. BUT, I still find it hilarious to completely ignore that and pretend that Frog-DJ Beyonce-with-a-gun is actually Doing That.

Bonus) Do they have a Canon OW character crush?

I’ve got a post floating around here somewhere, where in the tags I make mention of Visor having an aforementioned poster of young Jack and Gabe, and also the naughty dreams it has sparked therein, and for my boy’s dignity I shall not get into it. But first of all, Jack and Gabe, specifically as, Jack and Gabe.

Further, McCree and Lucio, in very different ways; he finds them both attractive in very different ways, but also like, he crushes on Lucio the same way one crushes on a Hemsworth, he’s pretty and famous, but that’s all there is too it. With McCree, he loves listening to him talk about his Blackwatch days, and when he found out he’s Trans too they really bonded over that, in a “wow one of my heroes is just like me” kinda way, so that’s more of a like, friend-crush, or mentor-crush even. it’s like crushing on your pretty teacher. In both cases he doesn’t think of them in “I want a relationship” terms or even “I’d tap that” terms, it’s all just infrequent daydreams and aesthetic appreciation.

Genji’s a snac and we all know it. Bisexual disaster Young Genji would have hit on Visor and he would have been putty in his hands we all know it. First time Genji took his mask o Visor got palpitations AND WE ALL KNOW IT.Now as for platonic girl-crushes, he’s a Sym boy, all the way. Queen stepped out of a teleporter one day and he was like “!? Damn now I KNOW I’m gay, and also that God is clearly real” He cried when he first saw her, and was compelled to give her all of the money in his wallet. She once stepped on his toes and he said he was sorry. One time he saved Sombra’s life and to repay the debt she set up a shopping trip where they could all hang out, and he and Sym are besties now. They have inside jokes and quote each other. Sombra hates it.

Bi, though when he’ in between relationships and looking for some one night action, he leans way more towards guys.

6) What is their alignment?

I’d say Neutral Good, He’s not really chaotic at all, but he joined a bunch of Vigilantes way too quickly to be lawful, and he has a well defined moral compass and believes in bettering the world, so Neutral good is a solid fit.

7) What is your character’s goal(s)?

For a long time he wanted to be a vet, after he gave up on that he’d hoped for nurse, then vet again once he quit the military… but after a taste of being a vet he found that loving animals and wanting to spend the rest of your life covered in cat sick were… not mutually exclusive? Now he’s doing this vigilante thing, but honestly he doesn’t know, he’s just going with whatever feels right at this point. I think his goal is to find a goal.

Zenyatta: “Are the breathing exercises we discussed helping at all?”

Carlito: “Oh yes, they work wonders, I even slept last night!”

(I headcanon Zen as an all purpose guru; spiritual advice, breathing exercises and even some Yoga classes all rolled into one. Also Carlito has some PTS from his military time mostly manifesting as anxiety leading up to missions, robot mode during mission, and if a shoot out happened, trouble sleeping/even trouble breathing the following night)

76) What are your character’s hobbies?

Carlito fancies himself to be pretty sporty, but truth be told he hasn’t done anything more than jogging in months, so his hobbies are mostly jogging, watching football/talking about it like he still plays regularly, saying “I’d love to go swimming again soon” and swearing he’ll hit the gym more but then getting busy with Desperate Housewives reruns. Also buying more dog toys than Diego will EVER use, anyone whose ever met him would list that as a hobby… or obsession.

His first session he’d be deeply confused, and roll a Human Paladin which he would play very rigidly, then Visor would talk to him about it and an all nighter of the two talking DnD stuff later He’d rock up to session two with a new character sheet to be a custom-race Werewolf Rogue with one level multiclassed into sorcerer. Between Diego and his own love of animals, Dog-Lover is a hard minimum, if you don’t like dogs, Carlito don’t like you (As a partner). Otherwise? He prefers people on his level, intellectually and class wise, he could never date someone super wealthy or way-way smarter than him.  (In regards to that last one though, the persons type of smarts has a big effect on how much smarter they can be than him before it’s a problem. Relationship/opinion of Talon?

Hala hates injustice, corruption, and the power of the wealthy over the disenfranchised. While none of these are specifically Talon’s goals, in order to achieve what they want they cause chaos, and corruption, and injustice, and many of it’s members are the same wealthy elites that she so despises. So Hala would gladly see Talon burn, and be the one to strike the match.

As for a relationship with Talon, she has none, no real interaction with it’s members or connections to speak of.

Yes! Hala loves both dogs and cats, as well as birds and lizards, and she takes care of several stray dogs, a pair of stray cats, and hopes to have a pet lizard of her own some day.

She doesn’t do what she does because it is logically what she should do, she does it because she knows in her heart it’s what she must do.

She hates them. she thinks they’re elitist bullies who use money and influence to get what they want, and she doesn’t trust the whole corporation as far as she could throw it. If they ever tried to set up shop in Beirut, she would “hinder” construction. With explosives.

Funnily enough if Hala and Visor were to meet they would have a lot to say about one another’s actions despite being the same alignment and having very similar core ideals. Hala would call Bayani lawful to neutral good at best, saying he tries to hard to follow arbitrary rules to ever achieve real good, while Bayani would say Hala is chaotic neutral, if not some kind of neutral evil for her over-willingness to kill and destroy for her goals, no matter how well-meaning her goals are. Both are right, to a degree.

Oh yeah, Izzati has hella scars on her arms from her swordplay training. Most are actually quite shallow, though there is the odd one or two, a confident block gone wrong, a jab she failed to predict. Such things don’t happen now though, so her newest scars are 5 years old or more.

She also has a small scar on her knee from tripping over while chasing her twin brother when they were very young, and while not having a scar from it, she also broke a rib falling down a big ol’ flight of palace stairs a couple years later. Thankfully she was a very resilient child.

A caracal. I knew she’d either be a bird of prey or some kind of feline, and a little research quickly confined feline, it’s Caracal’s that best represent her. Heck it’s canon now that she has one.

A mild distaste that used to be blind hatred that occasionally blurs into a professional annoyance. When he lost his fiance to and Omnic uprising close to overwatch’s fall (Not The Uprising, just the same time frame), he in part blamed the organisation for failing to prevent the event, and later that feeling faded into just not really liking them. Now with his being in Talon and them regrouping specifically to get in his way (In a round about sense) his distaste is a little stronger.

He still has a deep loathing for omnics, considering them all on some level his personal enemies. The relationship is ah, somewhat tense?

He thinks about this a lot, like constantly. Once tried to steal Tracer’s chronal accelerator to attempt some form of time travel before he found out that’s not how it works.

If he could go back in time, he’s decided over a good few years of mulling it over, he wouldn’t go back and stop the omnic crisis, or even gun down the omnics of his home city before they could rise up, but instead he would refuse to return to service for his last tour, he would desert, grab Reily and run, and they’d get married, maybe not at home or with their friends or parents there but they’d do it, they’d run and live and be happy.

These days he doesn’t really look for anything close to either, though he enjoys a good flirt (So long as it stays unreciprocated). what he looks for in someone to flirt with is, unsurprisingly, many fo the traits he remembers about Reily, like how he was skinny and fast, on the short side, brave, quick to call out injustice... he likes them twinkish and fiery, is the gist. so as well as flirting with Genji, he’s made his share of passes at lucio, not much of a twink but he’s hit on McCree too, to his own immediate distaste he once winked at Junkrat, and he loves teasing Visor whenever their paths cross (He has the build, the fire, the passionate hatred of injustice, the stupid bravery... and he hates “villains” so much that he would never flirt back, which suits Cole just fine).

Kefilwe is an aggressively sapiosexual Bi woman, with an eye for style. First you’ve got to look sharp as hell or she won’t give you a second glance, then you have to beat her at chess, maybe keep up with her in a conversation about complex polymers and altering the states of sub-atomic particles or two. Then maybe- just maybe, you’ll get a second date.

Other than the bastion units as a whole being a big part of her backstory, and her having a great respect for many of the brilliant scientists of Overwatch (Mei, Mercy, even Moira to an extent), she has had sparing interactions with Doomfist (Before he was doomfist but whilst a member of Talon he approached her about joining them, having heard about what her tech did to save Pretoria during the Crisis), so the two know eachother on an acquaintance level.

During the slice of her life between fighting the Omnics during the Crisis and her taking up action again in the era of overwatch’s recall, she liked to paint, took up sewing briefly, tried her hand at wedding planning for her brother’s wedding (and while she was terrifyingly good at it she hated it and swore never again) and had picked up a dozen hobbies here and there, though she’s never found anything she enjoys more than studying the sciences, namely chemistry.

Despite no longer habouring ill will to any omnics, she witness a lot of death and destruction during the crisis, lost family and friends, her childhood and innocence. Given the chance she knows she would do anything to stop it, even if it meant destroying every omnic before the crisis could begin. It’s not a question she likes, and she’s not proud of her answer.

Besides her callsign, “The Artificer”, she also goes by “эмээ”, or “Grams” as the eldest of her darling grandchildren likes to call her. she likes to pull a sour face at being called Grams but doesn’t really mind it.

Yes she does! Many initiates into the Ironclad Guild get it’s insignia as a tattoo, and Ariuna is no different, having got it on her upper back. She also has a band tattoo on her upper left arm that features her own gear insignia.

Ariyuna was shaken by the events of the Swiss headquarters explosion; after the Venice Incident and the eventual shut down of overwatch, Reinhardt’s retirement, the supposed death of Captain Amari, the assassination of Gérard, to lose both the commanders whom she had called friends and compatriots in a single blow was devastating. And she knew where the seeds of all that destruction had been sown. Back in it’s day she held no strong feels for blackwatch one way or the other, but the longer she has had to ruminate on the events of the recent past, the more bitter she has felt about the shadow organisation that brought it all crumbling down.

Ariyuna was an early member of overwatch during the Crisis, she was friends with many of the original overwatch members, and as a member of the Ironclad Guild before even the crisis, she goes a ways back with Torbjorn; her children, Sarnai, Ganzorig and Sarangerel used to play with Brigitte and her siblings when they were all young.

79) If they could go back in time and change one thing what would it be?

She is conflicted on this point. She deeply regrets the direct role she played in the creation of the Omniums, the Bastion units and the Titans, and still struggles with the guilt of the death and suffering she caused. And yet, if she could go back and do it differently, she cannot say she would. She was not alone in her actions, if she went back and didn’t join the Ironclad Guild, or didn’t design the things she designed, would it make a difference in the grand scheme? and if it did, what then? she would not be herself. Without the Guild and the Crisis, she would not have joined overwatch, she would not have met her wife or adopted her children, she would live her life free of guilt, yet would have nothing to live it for. Perhaps such a viewpoint is selfish, perhaps she should be able to say with ease and certainty that stopping the suffering of the Crisis is more important than her life as she knows it. But she can’t.

Bonus story: During Kalani’s first couple weeks at Watchpoint Gibraltar they were feeling home sick and Tracer and Winston (With a recipe from Athena) tried their hands (all 6 of them) at making it for them. what they made was not Súp măng cua, but it did make Kalani feel a lot better.

If Kalani weren’t so poisonous they would have hugged them.

PRACTICALITY. If they weren’t wearing their suit and especially their filtering mask everyone in a 5 mile radius would start losing their hair, and teeth... and blood... through their pores.

I’m not saying they’re directly responsible for Kalani being a human glowstick who radiates poison, or for destroying their old life forever, or that they literally kept them prisoner and experimented on them for an unknown amount of time but... wait no, that’s exactly what I’m saying.

The relationship is... love hate, Kalani hates them, and they would love to have Kalani back to experiment on.

Kalani has lost touch with all their old friends for... obvious reasons... but they’re now good friends with all the agents of Recall, including but not limited to: Tracer, Winston, Genji, Zenyatta, Emma and Bayani.

The crisis ended before Kalani was born, so the main effect it had on them was the environment they were raised in. Because of having seen omnics existing peacefully for much of their life due to this, they are astutely on the side of the omnics with regards to fighting for omnic rights, and before the Chem-Lab Incident they were the human co-president of their colleges human-omnic alliance.

That work just happens to be acting as a bounty hunter/hitman- He doesn’t do assassinations though, finds he prefers to stay out of politics.

Almost giddy. He did many exciting jobs for their Blackwatch division back in their day, so he may well get hired for such things again, or, failing that, several ex-overwatch agents have marks on their heads he’d be glad to collect. All in all, an auspicious event.

A wonderful group, if a little too politically inclined for his liking, always toppling governments or taking out important figures- not to Nikolai’s tastes at all. But every so often they’ll get in touch with something really fun, “Go here and kill as many as you can” “why?” “For the chaos of it all”. ever since that Doomfist took back control though he’s been getting far less fun jobs, so he’s less eager for the call.

Murder. Though he’s also partial to some light mountain climbing.

The news of the Venice Incident hit Emma hard, seeing Overwatch’s name dragged through the mud like that and the start of their decline. She’s resented blackwatch since then as the cause of overwatch’s fall.

Emma and Tracer are friends and go shopping together, sometimes Emily joins them and Tracer sets Emma up with a friend and they go on double dates.
