@lazywriterkylie and I are taking on a month long writing challenge.
Prompt #1 Write a short story that tackles a conversation between two characters in a hospital waiting room.
I've got major Fruits Basket Brainrot rn so here's an agnsty little scene with 0 context
START
Akane paced the waiting room, glancing at the large double doors, praying for and dreading their opening. Fujioka sat, face in his hands, leg bouncing nervously. He’d given up trying to convince her to sit down.
“Akane?”
“Don’t, bother, she won’t be able to hear anything until they give us an update,” Fujioka mumbled, sitting up. “Never though I’d miss the chatter box,”
“You’ve been here for hours, how is there no update?” Yuki asked. He set his school bag and jacket on the chair beside him.
“No news might be good news, it means he’s still fighting,” Fujioka whispered. He fiddled with the leather cord around his wrist the moon charm bouncing dully against his fingers.
Yuki nodded to himself, taking in the grim scene. He caught Akane’s hands in his own as she passed him on her track. He pulled them apart, “If you keep doing that, you’ll make yourself bleed,”
She blinked at him, “What?”
“Your hands, you’re picking at your cuticles. You’ll hurt yourself if you continue,”
She nodded her head, “R-right,” her gaze wandered to the doors again.
Yuki gently rubbed his thumb over the irritated skin. “Let’s sit down, have you eaten?”
She didn’t respond.
Yuki sighed questions were pointless, she was a thousand miles away and wouldn’t be returning until those doors opened. He guided her to the chairs with the best view of the doors and sat her down.
“Ms. Honda wanted to come too, but she had work. She would have come anyways but we didn’t want to overwhelm you. I brought your bento, you left it on the desk when they came to get you,” he unwrapped the box and opened up the top layer. “It’s cold but your snacks and fruit should be fine,” he tore open the small package of crackers and placed one in her hand. “Here, eat this,”
She lifted it to her lips, her movements were stiff, like a robot with the simplest of programing.
Yuki opened his water bottle, “I think your water bottle is still in your school bag. I sent it home with Kyo, I figured there wasn’t much you’d need in it,” he placed it in her hand and coaxed it to her lips. After she took a few sips he replaced the cap and set it on the ground.
“What if he doesn’t make it?” she whispered.
“He’ll be okay. If there’s one thing that I know about the Tanaka Family it’s that they are a quite resilient family,” Yuki patted her hand.
“Tomorrow is never guaranteed,” she whispered. The ringing of her cellphone made Yuki jump. She pulled it out of her pocket and answered it. “Yes?” Pause. “No.” Pause. “Okay.” Pause. “Bye.” She hung up the phone and set it on her lap.
“Who was that?” Yuki asked.
“Dad, asking for updates,”
“Oh,” It made sense that their parents would have been notified. “Are your parents coming home?”
“Mom’s on a plane,”
Yuki took her phone from her lap; she was in no condition to give directions if her mother called asking for them. Not to mention she’d probably forget the phone was on her lap as soon as those doors opened. It’d end up broken on the floor or at the very least abandoned.
“Yuki?”
The sound of his name took him by surprise, he hadn’t been sure she’d registered that it was him interacting with her. “Yes?”
“I’m… scared,”
He held her hand gently in his own. “I know,”

Toaster bound Hanako-kun
Here you were, being hurriedly carried to school by your “parent” because you slept in late. Again. You can never seem to wake up on time, no matter how loud the alarm is or how many of them you set.
“You’re a robot, a creation of metal, how can you never wake up on time?!” He said to you, already exhausted by his run to your new school. “It’s supposed to be your first day and yet you’re almost late! What am I gonna do with you...”
He walked into the building with you in his arms, chatting idley about how your day will go and lecturing you on what to do and not to do. You would roll your eyes at him if you could, or if you had eyes in the first place, for that matter.
He walked into the classroom and gave a formal apology to the teacher before sitting you down at your desk and wishing you a good day before exiting.
“Well, (y/l/n)-“ the teacher spoke up. “Would you mind introducing yourself for the class? You can stay at your desk”
“Yes!” You said as you tried to sit up taller, even though you were already sitting up as tall as you could, since toasters are not all that tall, as you probably already know.
“My name is (y/l/n) (y/n), I’m (y/a) years old, and as you can see, I’m not exactly human! I hope to be friends with you all!” You smiled, or at least did the toaster equivilant of a smile, at the class in front of you.
Shortly after, people began whispering.
“Is that a toaster?”
“Wait a toaster can be a student??”
“That’s a really cool toaster.”
“Why a toaster? Why not make a robot so they at least look human?”
“How will they even write??”
“Everyone, quiet, class is starting.” The teacher spoke, the entire class shut up almost instantly and so your first day at school started. You would say it was a pretty good day for you.
It had started with a test, which would be distressing, if you weren’t a robot that had access to the internet and all of the answers.
But you’re just a toaster! Some people might be thinking, but toasters are smarter than you might think, or at least can be smart.
You had arms that you could extend out of your body to write or do anything else you needed to do. Who would make a toaster without arms?! That’s ridiculous! Preposterous!
You has flown through any and all questions in your classes without a sweat, much to the amazement (and displease) to some of your fellow classmates.
Once the lunch bell rang, a beautiful girl with purple hair had came up to your desk.
“Hello! You’re the new student, right? If you’d like to, you can come and eat lunch with me and my friend!”
You were ecstatic, a cute girl is asking you to have lunch with her! A new friend! On your first day, too!!
“Of course!! Let me get all my stuff and I’ll be ready!” You told her as you started to organize your things and pack them back into your bag.
After you finished, you extended your legs from your body (of course you had legs, no good inventor makes a robot with an AI have no limbs. Why was your parent carrying you before? Well you’re a bit of a slow walker and if he let you walk then there was a guarantee you were going to be late) and followed the two girls to a large tree outside the school.
“By the way,” The girl with white hair and green tips had started. “How do you eat?”
“Oh, like this!” You opened a panel on your “face” in which you deposited your food. This food would be stored in you until the end of the day where you would empty yourself out. Robots, or toasters specifically, can’t exactly eat food.
You had a pleasent conversation with both the girls, learning that the purple haired girl’s name was Aoi Akane and the white haired girl was Yashiro Nene. As you were all walking back to class, a loud boy with blonde hair ran up to Yashiro and started talking to her. As he was waving his hands around, he glanced at you and froze.
“Is that a toaster...with legs..?” He asked slowly, moving to get a better look at you.
“Hi! My name is-“
“It talks?!?!” He jumped away from you and pulled a strange staff off of his back and pointed it towards you in a threatening manner. “Are you a supernatural?! Why are you hanging out with senpai and her friend?!”
You put your hands up in front of you as you tried to get further from him. “They invited me to eat lunch with them, I’m new here, it’s my first day! And no, I’m not a supernatural, I’m just another student!”
At that sentence, you were given a strange look by all three of them before the blonde boy put his staff away.
“Like I was saying, my name is (y/l/n) (y/n), it’s not so nice to meet you but I hope you’re nicer than this.”
The boy looked down at the floor, seemingly embarrassed by his actions, before speaking up.
“His name is Minamoto Kou, he doesn’t like supernaturals and is brash and loud but he’s a good guy when you get to know him...” Yashiro said, patting him on the back.
Kou said his goodbyes to all of you and you finally arrived back at your classroom, thankfully on time.
The rest of the day passed quickly and smoothly, it was pretty fun for your first class. Of course that wasn’t going to last long, though. The moment you three walked out of the classroom, a voice broke through your conversation.
“Ao-chaaaaaaan!!”
A boy with auburn hair ran up to Aoi and started to talk her ear off.
“Sorry, I have to leave now, see you tomorrow, Yashiro-chan, (y/l/n)-san!” She said as she walked away with the boy following her.
“I have to go too, (y/l/n)-san, see you!” Yashiro said as she started to walk off.
“Wait! Is it fine if I come with you? I don’t need to go home until later and you’re fun to talk to, so if it’s not too much trouble...” You quickly told her before she could leave. She mulled over your words for a moment before nodding.
“You can come with, but you have to promise not to freak out! Okay?”
“Okay!”
You two walked together and talked idely, soon enough you had made your way to the 3rd floor girl’s bathroom.
“Come in here, I’m meeting with some friends.”
You were a bit wary, who meets friends in a girl’s bathroom?
Both of you walked into the bathroom and you saw the blonde boy from before, why was there a boy in here?!, but you ignored it and greeted him instead.
“Oh! It’s you again! (y/l/n)-san, right?”
“Yep yep! I’m glad you remembered!”
“Is that a toaster with limbs?” A new voice asked. You turned around to see who it was, only to see a strange boy floating midair.
What. What. What.
You stood there, staring at him, as you tried to process the situation before you.
“(Y/l/n)-san! This is the friend I always meet with! His name is Hanako-kun!” Yashiro said to you, noticing your obvious confusion.
“He’s...Hanako-san of the toilet, right? Isn’t that legend about a girl usually?”
“You talk? Didn’t think I’d ever see a talking, walking, thinking toaster in my life, and not in death either if I have to be honest.”
“...”
“Yes, I am indeed Hanako-san of the toilet, and no, I will not answer ‘why’ I’m a boy.” He said, exasperated.
“Huh, well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Hanako-kun, my name is (y/l/n) (y/n), today is my first day of school.”
“How are you liking it? Am I the first supernatural you’ve seen so far?” He asked, a smile on his face.
“There’s more?!” You exclaimed, how were you going to handle knowing more of these people...this might not be as fun as you thought it would be.
“I would explain it but...” Yashiro stated. “You should probably be heading home soon, your dad must be getting worried, (y/l/n)-san.”
“Oh no! Thank you for reminding me, I’ll see you all tomorrow! Thank you for today!” You hurriedly said before quickly exiting the bathroom and starting on your way at home.
As you walked into the door to your home, you were quickly swept up into a hug from your parent who swung you a little bit in the hug.
“Hi hun! How was your first day? You acted good, didn’t you? Did you make any new friends?” He asked you, a smile on his face.
“Yeah! It was super fun and a made a few new friends!! Everyone there is really cool and really nice!”
He sat you back down on the floor and you sat at the table as you ate dinner with him before retreating to your room to get ready to sleep for tonight. You went to sleep giddy for the next day at school, thinking of seeing your new friends again.

Could we Dra remnant au origin story please? Thank you!
Yeah, so I hope you’re ready! To be
buckled in, and be taken on a ride!
—————
It all started with Akane and Utsuro.
The two that originally put this plan into motion, turning their ‘friends’ from the hopeful set that they first came in as into mindless killing machines. While it sounds harder than it seems, it was honestly quite simple. Them all being locked together within a school made things much more
easier than Akane could hope for!
Her first plan was to get rid of Kanata, Kakeru, and Kinji it was rather different. Finding ways to get them to submit, but doing a quick skim of their personal profiles was enough for her to come up with different videos. Something simple, but what she assumed would work for the others. Just with different..variations onto it. Simple, and with a few drugs it was easy to put all of them out of it like sleeping children. Including all of the other students. It took some time to isolate them from one another before it was time for the fun to begin.
Starting with Kinji, children point and simply going through various things. That was enough to drive the male to point-blank insanity. And how they suddenly started to turn against one another, a brutal battle to the death. You should have seen him, he was blue as blueberries, but it was worth it. He was committed to her cause. As she ‘reassured, and freed him’. Acting as if she had nothing to with what he just went through.
Kanata was someone that she wasn’t exactly sure on how to inflict despair onto. Until it clicked in her mind put her in a state where no matter how hard she tried she can’t save a patient? Devious, precisely and the greater thing was that it worked and now she was converted.
Kakeru, what a shame it would be if he accidentally caused innocent people to be killed? Well, that’s exactly what he did with no clue of it. Until the lovely maid revealed that fact to him, the lawyer thought he was locking away and killing evil. When in reality it was the opposite, drove him into the lovely despair.
The athletics group, now what could cause them to go into despair, she wondered. No matter, she was able to get the first three she could surely get these as well.
Similar to Mitch, it was easy for Akane to take away Ayame’s athletic abilities. Removing limbs, sewing them back on put so much stress and despair on her. That it was no shocker that she had fallen into despair.
Kizuna was another easy victim, being that she was supposed to be good luck for those teams she cheered for. Well, what happens when it turns into the worse outcome? Death, to be specific. Well, people didn’t take to kindly to that and not even long after, another converted remnant.
Kiyoka having killed innocents, which Akane revealed to her. The blood of ordinary people drove her to despair. The mere fact that she killed innocent people without the knowledge of it broke her.
The most relatively and easiest one of them all was Mitch. Simply removing his leg, promptly ended and also shattering his dream of being a soccer player around the world was enough to turn him into a remnant.
Now, the strong-willed ones, or at least..that’s what they were. Until Akane soon stepped in.
Mikako was relatively simple, putting someone through past trauma was always the funniest for Akane. It was both amusing, yet enjoyable having said that. Dressing up as her ‘lovable ‘ mother Kokoro Mitsume and began to put her through several different experiments.
“ For the sake of human behavior. “
‘ Kokoro ‘ stated. was enough to push the girl off the edge. There goes another~!
Yamato seeing that he couldn’t help his adopted sister, feeling helpless drove him to the breaking point. Her screams were something that echoed in his mind, as she cried out for help, cried out for him, and he wasn’t there to help her. True despair was what he felt.
Well, it wasn’t like this had to do much for Tsurugi. He was already messed up from his father, so similar to Mikako, a lovely dose of trauma. And that does the trick, funny on how much he tried to resist. Saying that he was going to kill her for this, yet he turned into a remnant? True comedy.
Rei was truly a difficult one, but it was hard not to fall into it. When you watch you family start to kill each other because of you. That she was the cause of death to those she was closest to. Very despairing indeed..
sunshine trio. Those being, Teruya, Haruhiko, and Satsuki. With was easier said than done. Those three were certainly stubborn. With Teruya keeping the two going and from losing their wits. He was the glue that kept the both of them together. With honestly made Akane quite annoyed. As much as she wanted to kill the small boy, she couldn’t. They needed all of their classmates ALIVE for this plan to work. Such a shame, in all honesty.
Anyway, Akane first started with Satsuki. Simple enough, she figured dealing with the clown girl. Well, not exactly. She was stubborn as a bag of rocks to not submit so, Akane devised a plan. That plan was to make a video of her family being brutally murder. It sounded difficult, but this was Akane and she had ways of getting what she wanted. The easiest part was getting her into the room and strapping her into the seat. Playing the video, as well including what the others had gone through, was easy to make her a remnant.
Haruhiko was next, losing his arm and having it replaced with a stuffed doll. Was both horrified and exciting for the maid, driving him to despair. Combined with the fact that he couldn’t do anything to save either Satsuki or Teruya..how unfortunate. Later on, she did properly give him a robotic arm. So that he wasn’t useless to their plans.
Teruya, oh Teruya, the glue that was holding everyone together. Now he was alone Akane could effectively get rid of him. Though, she still needed to keep him alive, putting him through the endless cycle of what his fellow classmates are going through. Combined with the fact that he wasn’t able to do anything in the slightest. Really changed him, while also removing one of his eyes just for the sake of it.
And that’s how Akane managed to convert them all, all for the sake of Utsuro.
[Also, I’m sorry I didn’t do good I had no idea where I was going with it,,]

Super Robot Wars: Pacific Rim
A While Ago (over a month ago), I asked people what they thought Pacific Rim would connect to in a Super Robot Wars game. Now, I’m going to share my thoughts based in part on those thoughts, and some of my own after scouring every entry in the whole series.
Which means, this is gonna get weird.
This will go stage by stage, because Pacific Rim, even including Uprising, can only really bring in a few stages.
Stage 1: The Kaiju War
In this prologue stage, we’d have Gypsy Danger battle Knifehead, but with one piece of added help: Getter Robo!
Even then, it goes about as well as you expect. Not only does Raleigh’s brother die, but so does Musashi! Both mecha are taken down in the battle, but not before Knifehead is destroyed.
Stage 2: The Wall
This one occurs in Australia, and has Striker Eureka appear to help against the Kaiju. The Player’s character and current crew/battleship (probably the Nadesico-C) appear to aid against it, or against another foe before the Kaiju/Jaeger show up. Pretty straight forward, but a MYSTERIOUS PERSON is watching and says that they are glad they have allies even after all this time.
Stage 3: The Drift
This is where Raleigh is recruited into the Pan-Pacific Defense Force. Which is currently on its last legs because the World Government's Autonomous Peacekeeping Organization, the A-Laws, funded the wall instead.
So far, Stacer Pentecost has recruited the usual crew from the film (Probably only Eureka and Gypsy are playable), but he has a few more. Getter Robo G (Ryou and Hayato help Raleigh a little emotionally because they are bros and this is OLD SCHOOl Getter), Great Mazinger (from Mazinger Z Infinity), and ...
Kiryu.
Stacker Pentacost also leaves to talk with “The Ambassadors” before letting Mako take over the rest of the tour.
When Mako and Raleigh drift, and the RABBIT occurs, we get a level of Coyote Tango battling Onibaba.
Stage 4: Double Event
Shortly afterward, we have a double event, and this is where things get ABSOLUTELY NUTS.
The event occurs, and by the time the level ‘starts’, all the mechs are injured and Crimson Typhoon/Cherno Alpha are already destroyed.
Battle for a bit, then EMP fries the mechs.
And things get worse. Remember, Kiryu is in play, so it goes nuts -- but not in the way people fear. It still attacks the Kaiju, just not under the player’s control. They have to beat on it a bit to allow Akane to get in the cockpit and ‘talk it down’.
It roars one last time and goes into alignment.
But how can you beat it down? Well, Great Mazinger and Getter Robo G manage to survive the takedown, but because Great is Size M, and G is Size L, and the Kaiju/KIryu are Size LL, this is tough stuff.
Which is where the Ambassadors come in. The Fairies of Infant Island call Mothra (Imago) (Size LL) to aid.
That helps, and when Kiryu regains control, it calls Godzilla himself to aid.
Which is also when Gypsy Danger arrives.
So now the player has Great Mazinger, Getter Robo G, Kiryu, Mothra, and Godzilla to fight 2 Kaiju.
To which the Mysterious Person from before says “No, no, no. That won’t do!”
Suddenly! The city tears itself apart and a strange castle descends from the clouds. From the castle, riding a bicycle through the air comes the witch Bandora.
Yes, we’re going there!
Bandora proclaims that she is glad to see her allies from 65 Million years ago are back. Now they can get back to slaying out all life on earth! And she’s also particularly miffed to see a Dinosaur still around. She summons several Dora Titans (her mook monster), Griffozar, and Dora Minotaur to aid the rift Kaiju.
At which points the player's battleship arrives.
As soon as one of the Kaiju or Dora Minotaur is defeated (Griffozar retreats), the restore to full health with the others. After some doom proclamations, Raleigh and Mako rally with a few others, and we get the last bit of aid.
At which point, the last bit of help for this overly-complex level arrives.
Daizayujin and the Zyurangers.
Heroic speeches and butt-kicking apply aplenty.
When this is done, Bandora retreats, Godzilla slinks off (for now), and things are hashed out.
Remember in Pacific Rim when Newt said that they tried before back with the Dinosaurs? Guess who also has a beef with the Dinosaurs? Getter Robo, yeah, but also Bandora.
Which is why they have a villain team up for the game.
So many of the big Ranger moments (IE: The Green Ranger arc) have Pacific Rim moments scattered throughout.
But after that, the next big level is ...
Stage 5: The Breach
The assault on the breach, Bandora beefs things up, Godzilla helps out once again, and if you do things, Striker Eureka is kept around.
At the close of the level, the player still need a Big Boom to close it. So, it ends up a mix of big attacks (IE: Shine Spark) to seal it for good.
After this is a Time Skip where we set off to fix Pacific Rim: Uprising.
Stage 6: The Rogue Jaeger
This is all about setting up the new recruits, and fending off some other faction that is attacking. Doesn’t matter who, but the rest of it plays out as normal. The A-Laws are gone, but many threats such as Doctor Hell and Bandora are still active.
Stage 7: The Black Jaeger
This is the Obsidian Fury attack on the UN, though obvious Mako doesn’t die. She gets to come back with Raleigh for Gypsy Danger’s return. But she’s still hurt and there’s damage to the UN and all that.
Stage 8: Arctic Battleground
Gypsy Avenger vs Obdidian Fury 1v1 until Bandor gets involved, revealing she now has “Dokita-Clay” to make her monsters even stronger!
This big battle against Dora Frank also sees the appearance of Bandora’s master, Dai-Satan (Yes, really), making this a rough battle.
And it’s all a distraction.
Stage 9: Shatterdome Attacked!
The Mass-Produced Jaegers are revealed to be pawns of the Precursors. Newt was put under a spell by Bandora to corrupt the program from within, and now they and more Super-Monsters are on the attack.
The base is aided by the return of Earth’s Kaiju: Godzilla and Mothra. Godzilla gains his ‘ultimate’ attack in this battle “King of the Monsters” --where he summons all the other earth monsters (Rodan, Anguirus, King Caesar, and Mothra) to beat down on a foe. So the base is saved, especially when your reinforcements arrive, but 3 rift kaiju have been released.
Stage 10: TOKYO S.O.S.
3 Kaiju from the rift. Backed up by Heterodyne, Bandora’s monsters (ALL of them, serving as minions here, probably maybe 3 or 4 from a list of: Dora Minotauros, Dora Sphinx, Dora Raiger, Dora Knight, Dora Tortoise, Dora Frank, Satan Frank, Dora Unicorn), Mass-produced Jaegers, Obsidian Furies (as elite mooks), Griffozar, Dai-Satan, and Dora Talos. When one of the Rift Kaiju is destroyed, the Mega-Kaiju is formed.
And when Dora Talos or Dai Satan is brought to 0, it fully heals and Dora Talos turns into Satan Talos.
But this is the last battle for Pacific Rim and Zyuranger. And as you can see, it’s one hell of a big blow-out.
And it’s still not the final kaiju enemy, that comes from Godzilla’s end, as King Ghidorah. But that’s his own journey.

Trigger warnings for rape and slavery in the Shield Hero commentary.
Double Decker 12
Deana’s actually kinda tsundere…that’s kinda amazing to see, really.
I noticed Doug’s phone says “Dr. Apple”. Haha.
Kirill’s special. But why? You never answered that, people! Update: It’s because his antibodies are an antidote for Anthem.
There appears to be a Shell logo on one wall of Derick’s bar…LOL. Shell exists in real life. Why do we want it in an anime, now…?
I laughed so hard when I saw the landlady with what remained of Seven-O, hahaha.
Travis and Sophie, huh? Is it a ship or a working relationship? Who knows?
Oh! This didn’t make sense until Derick declared the bus was a bar. Rigggggggggght.
Kirill, believe in the Doug that believes in you…or something like that…
Kirill’s holding two guns, so when Cooper says, “Put down the gun,” which one does he mean???
“And Then There Weren’t None!” – Parodying (Agatha) Christie again, I see? (Referring to Hyouka’s Why Didn’t They Ask Evans parody, Why Didn’t She Ask Eba?.)
Golden Kamuy 23
How did “pig food” in a sentence become so terrifying???
Why is Tsurumi’s head leaking???
*Sugimoto bashes the earless twin with his prosthetic foot* - Well, that’s one way to get a leg up on someone…okay, I’ll see myself out.
Merc Storia 11
If Orthos is complaining about rain, why is he a water-element unit in the game???
This show is gorgeous. Not to mention the backgrounds look like they’ve been ripped out of the game…
Aw, Orthos is kinda cute. Kinda tsundere. I wonder if he wanted to hear “happy birthday” from Raviol…?
Every time I watch through the ED, I think Raviol’s going “Geddof me!” to Yuu.
Zombieland Saga 12 (FINAL)
The Yuugiri slap returns!
The 21st of December seems to have been the original airdate of this episode…
Karatsu-jou is Karatsu Castle, quite obviously.
Wait…does this mean Kotaro Tatsumi’s real (last) name is Inui? Or was this a “I changed my name bcause my mother/I (re)married” thing?
There’s an end of episode segment…keep watching.
That was…such a non-ending! This definitely needs a season 2 if it wants to finish its storyline! Plus, Yuugiri, Tatsumi and Tae never got their focus episodes!
Gridman 12 (FINAL)
What the heck was up with that smoke cloud? It looked so real, and yet so out of place!
Ooh, I see Anti now has the ability to transform by himself…although I should’ve figured that out last episode, since I think that happened then as well.
*Anti gets stabbed with Alexis’s sword* - What the hck just happened to my garbage son??? (refer to This Week in Anime for how that nickname came about for Anti)
Eyy. So you’re saying Gridman was a magical girl robot all along? Haha…hahahaha.
So basically, it’s Boueibu LOVE! but with less meta. With lessons of mortality instead of the Kabuki Rule. Akane’s basically female!Kinshiro, right down to the hairdo…
Wow…someone really ran out of budget. It’s literally just a slideshow, but with black and white over it.
Oh, there’s actually a nice piano song in the background. So maybe I was wrong about the budget…? I don’t really want to go and watch the slideshow again, y’know.
There’s a random live-action segment at the end of this show??? Wuh??? What do I need to expect next, a talking meteorite??? (referring to Dimension High School)
Okay, seriously??? What was up with live-action Rikka???? I don’t get it… Update: Okay, so the live-action girl was Akane, not Rikka. That’s why it was so confusing…
Double Decker 13 (FINAL)
I laughed really hard at the explosions. Probably because I Photoshopped someone into a picture of an explosion and the scene with Kirill being shoved forward by an explosion reminded me of it…
I wanted Max to slap Travis, as weird as that might be for a show like this (but not for a show like Zombieland Saga). A punch in the gut’s good too, though.
“To be continued?” – Oh. Ohh. Ooh…Heh. I already knew there were some extra episodes, but at this point, there’s no ruling out a season 2, either…hmmm. I really wouldn’t mind a season 2, y’know.
Golden Kamuy 24 (FINAL)
For some reason, I’ve ben referring to Hijikata as “old fart” for the length of this episode (meaning “not long”). He’s an impressive old fart, to be sure, and he was hella nice-looking in his heyday, but in the age of Golden Kamuy, he’s still an old fart.
I thought “Say hello to my little friend” was from Scarface, not…whatever Tsurumi’s pulling here. (commnt made in jest with straight face)
Seriously, what happened to ruin Nopperabo/Wilk’s face, anyway?
Someone make me a Civil War poster with Golden Kamuy characters, stat!
Wait, so Kiroranke, Asirpa and co. are headed north to meet up with Kiroranke’s allies, which could cause a civil/national war. Hijikata and Blockhead Dick-sensei (forgot his name) are headed south due to the info they got from Inudou’s hut (the chapel). I’m pretty sure that’s what just happened, but…I could have missed a bit and then I’d be wrong.
“Send the beloved child on a journey” is a Japanese saying, by the way. That’s (probably?) what Sugimoto’s referring to when he talks with the boat captain (the elder Koito). Oddly, the elder Koito seems to drop the last O from “-dono”, which seems to be a Satsuma thing…?
Cells at Work Special Ep (Ep 14)
Oh, you can see the effector cell amongst the other T Cells! Hello there!
I remember studying stuff about how a cell divides…man, that was at least 2 years ago! You’re making me feel old…
*Helper T Cell appears* - Gaddangit, Kazuma! (from Noragami)
Merc Storia 12 (FINAL)
There’s just something too awfully cute about a brother leaving the “nest”.
Even birds need to learn to fly. I wonder why Orthos didn’t…?
Ah! It’s one of those low-level hooting monsters! I’ve seen them in the game but I don’t know what they’re called…Update: They’re called Goldories. Spoke too soon…
Well…that’s a bit frustrating. That’s the second non-ending this season…hey! I’ve seen that elephant in the game! Plus that slime! (LOL, I’m so easily distracted…)
Ooh, that non-ending. I’ll give it a piece of its mind by giving it an average rating on my AniList!!! Rah!!! Anyways, see ya later…for 2019 anime.
Shield Hero 1
First anime of 2019 and it’s this one. Hoo boy – I’ve read one chapter of the manga, courtesy of CR. It’s gonna get nasty down in here, judging by the buzz that seems set to replicate Goblin Slayer’s…
Oh…that’s not a very favourable opening, the “It was all a dream” opening. Sure, it was gripping and showd Raphtalia (saw her name in promo material from ANN), but f*** if it weren’t overused at this point in time…
I always thought Shield Hero started out like Fushigi Yuugi…speaking of which, is that no longer on Crunchyroll?
Motoyasu’s got his own spinoff, so I’m hoping I’ll get to know him well over the next 12 weeks or so.
I find it interesting that they put the heroes together to reveal they’re from different versions of Japan so quickly. I’m pretty sure that didn’t happen in the manga.
Honestly, that “NOOOOOOOOOOOo!” could be an awesome reaction GIF. Just sayin’.
Sigh…Myne, Myne, Myne…you and your ways with Naofumi…
(Trigger warning: rape discussion) See? As I said, I knew this was going to happen. The thing is that it played out a lot more clearly in the anime than it did in the manga. As much as I don’t like the trope of “rape as accusation” enough (enough to have never encountered it before), it would be hypocritical of me to say I haven’t used it before – it appears in Half-Paid Heroes. However, one year out from having written it (due to the #MeToo movement), I can only say “rape is so not on”. I do not condone rape, but from a storytelling perspective it’s the perfect trope to make a character look like a monster and it makes a clearly false accusation have more oomph behind it, so…let’s just say Shield Hero’s doing its job here, making me despise Myne and the system in this world. Besides, I only stand on the side that does the better story.
For some reason, Naofumi’s “You can shove it all up your a***!” demand reminds me of when I’m angry and doing unreasonable demands…which means it’s won me over now.
I just realised…there hasn’t been much music until now…
(Trigger warning: slavery discussion) Oof. Now they’ve gotten to a new low of depravity in this show. Naofumi’s probably gonna buy a slave…again, I don’t condone this, but I assume Raphtalia is here.
Yep, even without knowing past ch 1, I was right on the money. That’s Raphtalia!
Poppies, huh? The symbol of bloodshed. What a perfect flower for this show, which demonstrates Naofumi’s blood, sweat and tears…
As much as I don’t condone some of the acts done in this show, I see some huge potential. Even if it’s got controversy flying around it like flies, I’ll stand with it. Are you with me?
Boogiepop 1 – 2
Double length premiere…oof, this’ll be tough on my spare time. Lately, I’ve been told to clean up the house a bunch and doing all manner of other things, so it’s just eating up time on all sides.
OP start is…for some reason, never a good start. For some reason, I just don’t like it. Maybe that might be the fact I was taught to start with a compelling opening scene when I was a fiction writer, though.
The subber got so bored they even subbed the Dengeki Bunko logo in the corner…wow. (sarcastic)
For some reason, the art style reminds me of Banana Fish (or Parasyte). Must be the chara designs.
This seems to be coated in a fine film of 90s edge. Or maybe the early 2000s, because that’s when this really comes from. C’mon, Takeda doesn’t even seem surprised when his mouth hangs open!
Notably, Boogiepop uses boku.
Wait, I don’t get why Boogiepop is called that. They pop the boogie(men)? That right?
I started zoning out and fiddling with my wrist in the middle of this episode. That’s another bad sign…
Wow, that ending’s really minimalist.
Currently, this episode raises more questions than it answers. Its overall impression level is trending slightly towards the negative. There must be a double premiere for a reason, though…let’s move on.
Wait - Kirima Seiichi? Is he Nagi’s father??? How did I not notice that earlier?
That manticore business seems to be correct…according to Wikipedia.
This doesn’t add up. Taniguchi. Kirima. Maybe Taniguchi is the name of the mother/father and Kirima is the name of the other parent? Update: Spoke too soon on this point and a previous one.
Kirima’s OS appears to be Windows 10 with a few adjustments.
Wait, but isn’t Suema meant to be the girl’s surname? Or is it Kinoshita? Update: It’s Suema. Kinoshita is another girl.
This white-haired man is the one from last episode, right? I didn’t really recognise him since there’s always terrible lighting plus he was wearing orange then, but yeah. Can’t believe I didn’t connect the dots there either.
White-haired man seems to be like Anti from Gridman. I presume he’s Echoes…? Update: Yup, Echoes it is.
Egao no Daika 1
This sounds like it’s outside my field of expertise, but I’ve been proven wrong before with Planet With, not to mention Toshiki Masuda is a character called Huey Malthis. It seems to be pretty standard Princess and the Pauper fare though…
There’s just a bunch of tablets with fancy-looking English on them…the heck?
Is it just me, or did the mecha game have the solitaire success sound effect…?
Ooh, I sense animosity regarding Japan’s emperor abdicating within this show (in a metaphorical sense)! I could analyse this show to bits, maybe…
The CGI in this actually ain’t that bad. Then again, we are talking about mechs here…
Oh, end of episode segment. Keep watching…
Well, I noticed the characters go off model if you’re paying attention to something you shouldn’t be, but otherwise, it’s a respectable first episode…respectable, but fairly average.

One Small Flame (Chapter 1)
Chapter 1: Introduction
Summary: Her name is Akane, because since she was born she had eyes laced with fire. And when she turned four, so was her skin. So, of course, the most logical decision after finding out her Quirk made her resistant to fire is for her to apply for UA, the infamous school for pro heroes.
It turns out, entering UA would be the turning point, that one moment that changes her life forever.
Note: It’s that fic Admin T and I were planning! I’m writing this, she promises she’ll write her own some time. You’ll have to suffer through mine for now! Hope you find the Reader!OC interesting!
Admin G
Bakugou Katsuki is a hundred percent certain as he steps through the entrance that he is going to get the top spot in any exam they throw at him so he’s not worried. He’s honestly more worried about the bundle of energy walking a bit behind him.
“Onii-chan, what kind of exams do you think they’re giving this year?” She asked, cheerfully spinning in her black uniform.
Her name is Bakugou Akane, their parents named her Akane because of her red eyes never mind that they were identical to his. Akane is actually Katsuki’s twin but he was delivered first so she still calls him Onii-chan. When she discovered her quirk a little after Bakugou discovered his, she wanted a way to differentiate herself from him just as their quirks differed. It was the first time in her life that she realized she didn’t want to be exactly like her Onii-chan. So, since then, she started dyeing her hair reddish brown as a tribute to the name she was given.
“Whatever it is I’m going to fucking destroy the competition.” Bakugou grinned, flexing his arm so explosions danced across the skin of his forearm.
Akane moved forward, gripping her brother’s arm firmly to pull him to the room where kids who were trying out were to be seated. “We need to hurry up, Onii-chan.”
“You don’t need to tell me that.” He scoffed, shoving other students aside irritably, creating space for her to comfortably follow him in the process.
Akane stared at her brother and giggled. “Wait up, Onii-chan!” she shouted, taking a seat next to him. Bakugou was a grumpy and constantly angry person but most of the time he used those emotions to hide anything softer that he feels. Most of the time, Akane can see through his gruffness and get a glimpse of that kindness he showed towards her. Katsuki is a good older brother and no action of his will ever make her doubt it.
“Ka-chan!” Came the shout of an ordinary looking boy with dark hair sticking up in odd ways. Akane recognized him as the boy who used to follow her brother around. They never did get the chance to meet properly because Akane liked to stay at home and was more introverted like their father. That on top of always going to a different school from Bakugou meant she’d never met Deku Midoriya in person but she heard a lot from her brother about his hero complex.
Bakugou sneered and turned his head away from the boy. “Deku.”
“I’m glad I found you. I thought I would be alone without anyone I know here.” Deku smiled sheepishly, tilting his head to look at Akane. “Is this your friend, Ka-chan?” He asked.
“None of your business, idiot!” Bakugou shouted.
Before Akane could intervene, Present Mic started explaining the mechanics of the practical exam. A point-gathering game. Akane was somewhat relieved. There’s no denying that Bakugou had the advantage, his Quirk was ideal for fights against large robots. But, Akane clenched her fists feeling heat flare up on her fingertips, she had a pretty good shot at this too.
Looking down at her brother’s card, she frowned when he was assigned to Building A but a quick peek at Deku’s – Izuku’s – card raised her spirits again.
It would be interesting to see him in action.
And with that, she got up and looped her arm through Izuku’s grinning. “Midoriya-kun, right? We’re both going to Building A!” She cheers, pulling him with her in the direction of the buses.
“Ah, yeah. But, wait a sec-”
Bakugou squinted, watching his sister walk away arm in arm with Midoriya Izuku of all people. He could feel his blood boiling and let out a few explosions to let off steam. “Akane.” He hissed. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“Akane-san?”
Akane turns to Izuku with a smile. “Akane is my first name, you can call me Akane-chan if you want, Midoriya-kun.” She grins as Izuku starts to stutter. He must not be used to chatting with girls. “But, Midoriya-kun, as soon as those gates open, we’re rivals!” She winked.
“Yeah.” Izuku nodded. “I won’t lose.”
The gates opened and Akane smirked. “See you later, Midoriya-kun!” Akane stretched her arms out and flexed them, explosions traveling across her skin setting her ablaze. Red hot fire danced across her skin without burning her. Her reddish brown hair rose up, framing her glowing red irises.
“That’s- it’s like Ka-chan’s-” Izuku stuttered.
“Oh, didn’t I say?” Akane laughed. “Katsuki is my brother!”
Izuku stared at her as she ran forward, taking down a robot with her explosions. Upon taking a closer look at her quirk, he could see that her explosions were a lot weaker than Bakugou’s. Hers were more of a way to ignite her flames that rose on your skin. In addition to letting out nitroglycerine, your skin seemed to have DNA that allowed her to be flame resistant.
“Amazing.” He shook his head, running forward himself to try and take down some robots of his own. “I can’t let my guard down now that I know.” He took one last glance at her and strengthened his resolve. “Even Ka-chan’s sister… is super amazing.”
When Akane saw that large 0 point robot coming for that girl, she was torn between helping her and running away too. She’d reacted too late, still indecisive as Izuku went on to defeat the robot. At that point, she already had 40 points total. She could have easily passed by her brother’s standards but something felt off. Running around gathering points, she didn’t feel heroic at all.
“Woah.” A girl with ginger hair tied in a side ponytail gaped up at Izuku’s falling form, not noticing the metal debris that was about to hit her.
Akane surged forward without thinking, hands flexing as she took the leap and blasted the metal debris away kicking it with your flaming leg. You landed solidly in front of the ginger haired girl and smiled. “You should pay attention to falling debris, I was worried I wouldn’t make it in time.” She joked, holding her hand out to the girl. “I’m Akane.”
“Kendo.” She said, nodding as she took Akane’s hand. “Thanks for saving me.” She frowned when an intense chill made Akane’s hand shake. “Are you okay?” She asked.
Akane pulled back, opting to walk back to the front gate with her and wrap her arms around herself. “My quirk, I can create explosions that set me on fire and I can withstand a bit of heat.” She explained. “But, if my body gets too hot it assumes I’ve got some kind of fever and tries to compensate by dropping my internal temperature.” She raised a shaky finger. “In other words, I get really cold-”
She stops talking when she feels a warm jacket being wrapped around her. “Thanks...” She sighed in relief and turned to smile at her older brother. “Onii-chan.”
Bakugou scoffed. “You pushed yourself a shit ton out there, huh? You’re fucking freezing.” He grumbles.
“Ignore him.” She says, giving Kendo one last hug. “I’m glad you’re alright. I hope we see each other at UA, Kendo-san!” She bows and walks away side to side with her brother.
“Thanks again, Akane-san!” Kendo’s hand swelled up and she waved.
Akane looks over her shoulder and waves back. “Just Akane!”
“Then, it’s just Kendo, too!”

Psycho-pass Movie Novel Chapter 3 - Part 2/2
The end of chapter 3…things are finally moving and Akane is about to leave for SEAUn. This is a nice second part of the chapter, all centered on the kind Sugou-san: I like him a lot and it’s a pity that this part wasn’t in the movie. He should have had more screen time.
Now, the story…hope you’ll like it.
Note before reading: sentences in italics represent the character’s thoughts.
3
20 hours were left until the departure time of the direct flight headed to SEAUn ---.
In her office at the Criminal Investigation Department, Tsunemori was rearranging the documents containing the necessary data when the enforcer Sugou Teppei addressed her.
“I heard you’ll fly to SEAUn”
Tsunemori nodded slightly.
“Yes”
“Enforcers aren’t allowed to accompany you” Sugou went on.
“Of course”
“And you aren’t going to ask for support from other inspectors”
Tsunemori wasn’t displeased by Sugou’s honest objection.
“That’s because there’s no need”
“What about a bodyguard?”
“We have an agreement that the local military police and its drones will cooperate with me in the investigation”
“You’re really efficient, aren’t you?”
“Yes. This is one of my merits”
At this sentence, Tsunemori gave out with a slightly confident smile.
“I have some knowledge on places overseas”
Something vaguely dark crossed Sugou’s expression while he was saying so.
“…you were formerly occupied in the Navy National Borders Defensive System, weren’t you?”
Sugou had graduated in the field of information Engineering and was a former worker at the Ministry of Defense.
He belonged to the Navy Defensive System for the protection of the national borders. SOMETHING HAPPENED THERE* and he was moved from the Drones Unit to the Research & Development Unit. His hue worsened and he was labeled as latent criminal.
“Bullets fly everywhere. A man’s life has a low value overseas”
Because of Sugou’s threatening way of talking, “Hmm, it’s scary” Tsunemori eluded him slightly.
“What do you think about your own life?
“Eh…?”
Tsunemori was taken aback by Sugou’s simple question.
My own life --- am I prizing it?
When I think about it calmly --- I wonder about that question myself.
It took her some time, but Tsunemori had built a network of informants. It was a primitive HUMINT*. For that purpose, she had been frequently visiting the abandoned blocks too. Sibyl System wouldn’t have probably considered that thing agreeable.
There were many hazards around Tsunemori. For not dragging her friends into them, she was consciously reducing her social life too.
I wonder if recently there have been moments when I could think that something was pleasant from the bottom of my heart.
I wonder if I am alive now---
I wonder if there have been moments when I could feel it for real.
I should acknowledge that.
(I don’t cherish my own life in front of a criminal)
Ginoza, Kunizuka, Sugou and Hinakawa too --- . All the Division 1 enforcers don’t seem to fear death. Yesterday’s fight with the terrorists was like that too and even if they exposed themselves to the gunfire, they were coolheaded. I have the feeling that the one and only clearly afraid of dying was Inspector Shimotsuki…
Which means... such a way of thinking like ‘I don’t cherish my own life’, could it be typical of a latent criminal?
If it is so, why does Tsunemori Akane’s hue never cloud? Why does it remain clear? The conclusion is always the same. I don’t understand Sibyl System’s thought.
“Sugou-san, what would you like to do?”
Tsunemori asked conversely.
“Eh…ah, well”
Sugou was clearly baffled.
“If you ask me what I’d like to do…”
“You don’t want me to go overseas, isn’t it? In short, you don’t you want me to die, isn’t it?”
“…”
“there are still some hours until the flight”
“…yes”
“Why don’t we go to the gym?”
“…yes?”
Tsunemori and Sugou moved to the Public Safety Bureau’s training room and changed into their sportswear respectively in the locker rooms. Now they were facing each other on a large judo mat. As one would expect, Tsunemori’s body was too delicate compared to Sugou’s strong and muscular build.
“There’s quite a difference between our body weights. Usually, I don’t spar this way”
Sugou had a depressed look.
“If I get seriously injured just training here, I won’t neither be able to go to SEAUn”
At Tsunemori’s words, Sugou opened his eyes wide in astonishment.
“What are your intentions?”
“uhm ... my intentions …?”
If there was a need to come this far… neither Akane knew well. It’s just that she felt like doing it, so she did.
“…understood. I won’t use rough moves, but …a headgear…just in case”
“Ok”
Both of them put on open finger gloves.
Akane wore a sports headgear too.
Sugou had only a sports supporter* as a protective equipment.
“Let’s go”
“Yes”
They set the sparring robot in arbiter mode.
Its task was to stop the one of them who would go too far.
Then they started the sparring.
Soon after they started, Sugou grabbed Tsunemori’s arm.
Seizing me this way, does he hope to finish the sparring amicably?
Sugou is strong.
However, he’s not the type who hits a superior all of a sudden with no hesitation.
There was a technique Tsunemori was eager to try for times like this.
“Uh…”
The moment Sugou grabbed her left wrist, Tsunemori stepped suddenly to the right.
By doing so, right after breaking down her opponent’s posture, she answered by grabbing with her right hand the one Sugou had used to grab her. Pulling Sugou’s hand on her shoulder with both hands and making sure to fold his arm, she immobilized him with a double-arm lock. She knocked him down in one breath.
Dang! With a great noise, Sugou’s back hit the mat. Then, looking at Sugou’s helpless face, Tsunemori stopped just before the blow.
It is a fundamental of the self-defense art, but it is hard to use during a fight.
This time, the match had been entirely decided by Sugou’s inattention and tact*.
When Tsunemori removed her hands, Sugou instantly stood up.
“I’m sorry”
“Do we go for the next one?”
Just after the sparring restart, Tsunemori made a sharp slide.
“!”
From her low position, she wrapped Sugou’s leg. A sneak attack to the ankles.
Holding Sugou’s right leg between hers and grabbing his ankle with both hands, she twisted it.
“Uh!”
“To make up for a weight difference, there is nothing but the joint lock*, isn’t it?”
Overturned, Sugou tapped the mat.
Undoing the joint lock, Tsunemori stood up.
“Sugou-san, you are strong. However, you have gone too easy with me. Despite blows seem to be your strong point, you haven’t hit me once”
“You say I’ve gone easy to you, but you surely are strong too, Inspector Tsunemori. I’ve understood that your level is not the same as an inspector’s”
Sugou stood up too.
“Kougami Shinya has changed you”
“…”
Hearing that name, Tsunemori felt like she’d been stabbed in her chest.
“I don’t know the details. However, Kougami-san had such an influence on your life that you can’t go back. Training eagerly in martial arts too, it looks so”
“If I told you I don’t get it … it would be a lie, wouldn’t it?”
--- is life precious?
The matter is not when will we die, it’s how we will die.
(Kougami-san, he would definitely say something like that, I guess)
It’s not only living.
Is there a sense in those deaths?
Kagari Shūsei’s death supports the present Tsunemori Akane.
Masaoka Tomomi’s death supports the present Ginoza Nobuchika.
If she herself died going across the sea, there should be a sense in that.
Turning towards Sugou and holding out her right hand, Tsunemori offered it to him.
“Let’s go”
“Somehow…”
Making up his mind, Sugou responded to her shakehand.
“…it’s like you must meet with Kougami Shinya one more time”
Late at night at the CID office of the Public Safety Bureau---. Maneuvering the keyboard, Tsunemori was arranging the documents that seemed to have some connection to SEAUn. She copied the information obtained with the memory scoop and went on with the arrangement of her investigation abroad. It’s late at night, and possibly there’s no one here --- or so she thought, but Ginoza entered quietly.
“…I asked for the permission to accompany you, but they rejected it”
Tsunemori stopped doing her work.
“I’m not surprised. The dispatch of an inspector abroad is such a singular case. Let alone enforcers”
“Is it Kougami?”
“…” Tsunemori’s expression hardened to Ginoza’s words.
Ginoza sat at his desk, Tsunemori installed the memory scoop on her portable terminal and stood up.
“I have a favor to ask you” Ginoza said.
“Eh?”
“If you manage to meet him again, give him a punch for me”
“I can’t do that”
“What?”
While making a light shadowboxing*, Tsunemori said
“When I find him, I will arrest and bring him back home. I want you to punch him personally, Ginoza-san”
Hearing that, Ginoza smiled wryly.
“I can’t tell if you have changed or you’re still the same…you’re a mystery as always”
4
Carrying a suitcase with her, Tsunemori stopped the car at Yokota Air Base*of the Ministry of Defense. In the unmanned, fully automated Yokota Air Base there were only two people responsible for the air traffic control, drones had replaced the staff for the most part. The ones arranging the plane and the one refueling it were all drones too.
“--- bzz”
A sharp sound breaking the sound speed echoed far up in the sky. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)* belonging to the Air Force System for the defense of the national borders, jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense, had taken off from the airstrip of this airport for the routine patrol.
There were two types of UAV: a large one used for reconnaissance and a small one used for fights.
Even if she was going overseas, Tsunemori was travelling lightly because she had no sightseeing purpose. Her suitcase was a self-moving type with small wheels, a model that came along with Tsunemori freely. Once gone through the necessary formalities at the reception control panel, she followed the holographic visual guide and went to the zone where aircrafts were parked --- the airport apron*.
The transport jet plane, property of the Ministry of Defense, was waiting there ready to leave.
Near the transport plane, a male loadmaster* was receiving a report from a service drone.
The loadmaster noticed Tsunemori immediately.
“Inspector Tsunemori?”
“Yes!” as there was a loud noise on the flying ground, she naturally raised her voice.
“I’m the loadmaster Tanohata of the Ministry of Defense Air Force. I’m pleased to meet you”
“It’s my pleasure”
“Thanks to this guy*, it’ll take us just three hours”
Saying so, Tanohata pointed proudly at the plain.
NOTES TO TRANSLATION:
*SOMETHING HAPPENED THERE: I wrote it in capital letters because in the book this sentence is written with dots above the kanjis to underline it.
*HUMINT: Human intelligence (frequently abbreviated HUMINT) is intelligence gathered by means of interpersonal contact, as opposed to the more technical intelligence gathering disciplines such as signals intelligence (SIGINT), imagery intelligence (IMINT) and measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT).
NATO defines HUMINT as "a category of intelligence derived from information collected and provided by human sources." Typical HUMINT activities consist of interrogations and conversations with persons having access to information.
The manner in which HUMINT operations are conducted is dictated by both official protocol and the nature of the source of the information. Within the context of the U.S. military, most HUMINT activity does not involve clandestine activities. Both counter intelligence and HUMINT do include clandestine HUMINT and clandestine HUMINT operational techniques.
HUMINT can provide several kinds of information. It can provide observations during travel or other events from travelers, refugees, escaped friendly POWs, etc. It can provide data on things about which the subject has specific knowledge, which can be another human subject, or, in the case of defectors and spies, sensitive information to which they had access. Finally, it can provide information on interpersonal relationships and networks of interest.
HUMINT is both a source of positive intelligence, but also of information of strong counterintelligence value. Interviews should balance any known information requirements of both intelligence collection guidance and of counterintelligence requirements. (from Wikipedia)
This word is really interesting, I never heard it before. This translation is such a source of new information for me; I learn something new every time.
*supporter: it is a protective equipment which protects genitals from hits during fight.
*inattention and tact: here the author means that Sugou has too tact to attack her seriously because he fears he can hurt her and he’s also not too careful, so at the end he is easily beaten.
*joint lock: locking technique in judo.
*shadowboxing: Shadowboxing is an exercise used in the training for combat sports, especially, as its name implies, in boxing. It is used mainly to prepare the muscles before the person training engages in stronger physical activity. In shadowboxing, only one person is required to participate; the participant throws punches at no one in particular. (from Wikipedia)
*Yokota Air Base: (横田飛行場, Yokota Hikōjō), is a United States Air Force base in the city of Fussa, one of 26 cities in the Tama Area, or Western Tokyo. (from Wikipedia)
*UAV: Acronym of the English translation for the word 無人航空機(UAV) , composed by 無人 (unmanned) and 航空機 (aerial vehicle).
*airport apron: The airport apron is the area of an airport where aircraft are parked, unloaded or loaded, refueled, or boarded. Although the use of the apron is covered by regulations, such as lighting on vehicles, it is typically more accessible to users than the runway or taxiway. However, the apron is not usually open to the general public and a license may be required to gain access.
The apron is designated by the ICAO as not being part of the maneuvering area. All vehicles, aircraft and people using the apron are referred to as apron traffic. (from Wikipedia)
*loadmaster: A loadmaster is an aircrew member on civilian aircraft or military transport aircraft tasked with the safe loading, transport and unloading of aerial cargoes. Loadmasters serve in the militaries and civilian airlines of many nations. The loadmaster performs the calculations and plans cargo and passenger placement to keep the aircraft within permissible center of gravity limits throughout the flight. Loadmasters ensure cargo is placed on the aircraft in such a way as to prevent overloading sensitive sections of the airframe and cargo floor. Considerations are also given to civilian and military regulations which may prohibit the placement of one type of cargo in proximity to another. Unusual cargo may require special equipment to be loaded safely aboard the aircraft, limiting where the other cargo may feasibly be placed. Tactically, loadmasters may also directly affect combat readiness as they are also responsible for determining the load order of aircraft so that more tactically important material (e.g. ammunition) is off-loaded and therefore ready to deploy faster than other support items; this may be especially germane to forward operating bases.
The loadmaster may physically load the aircraft, but primarily supervises loading crews and procedures. Once positioned aboard the aircraft, the loadmaster ensures that their charge is properly secured, as an unexpected shift of the load can produce serious handling problems for the aircraft. Chains, straps, and integrated cargo locks are among the most common tools used to secure the cargo. Because cargo may shift during abrupt maneuvers, the loadmaster must determine the appropriate type(s), quantity and placement of cargo restraint.
*thanks to this guy: Tanohata is talking about his plane, called affectionately ‘this guy’.
