Paimon: why are you three here?
Lynette: Father asked us to stalk Miss Furina--
Lyney: *covers Lynette's mouth* --ehm, she means to say that Father asked us to go on vacation! haha;;
Paimon: stalking Fur-- Paimon thought that would be over after everything that happened!
Freminet: well, not exactly stalking...she asked us to make sure Miss Furina didn't get hurt...
Lyney: Exactly, thank you Freminet. that's a much nicer way of putting it.
Lynette: we were also supposed to make sure she didn't know we were following her.
Lyney: ahem, anyway, we're on vacation now since Clorinde and Navia ended up taking over that task...
Paimon: uh, are they in on it too...?
Freminet: no, when he says "taking over," he moreso means they decided to protect her on their own, so there was no longer any need for us to follow...
Lyney: Right, well--
Lynette: also Clorinde would've caught us for sure if we kept stalking her--
Lyney: Guarding. let's call it guarding
Lynette: usually people know if they have a guard. or three.
Lyney: covert guarding.
#oh oops I dropped my Arlefuri agenda again--#LISTEN the timing is too convenient#you came here for Lantern Rite but didn't appear during the Lantern Rite event?#but appeared AFTER Furina was safely back in Fontaine? escorted by friends??#suspicious#(don't mind me I just think about Arlecchino recruiting her kids to keep tabs on her wife all the time)#(constantly)#Lyney#Lynette#Freminet#Paimon#Arlecchino#Furina#Genshin Impact //#Arlefuri#Focacchino

Catch! (βΓΦ)
Have you ever taken a moment to consider how fraternities are still alive these days? We have seen them featured in movies, television, and more recently across social media, but what do they even stand for? Originally, they were built around the concept of brotherhood among younger men entering adulthood, inspiring “fraternal” bonds that could remain strong throughout their lifetimes. Now however, they seem to be constantly embroiled in controversy. Whether it pertains issues of hazing, rapid partying, or the classic sexual harassment, fraternities should be on their way out.
But somehow, they are still sticking around. And worse yet, they appear to be stronger than ever. Young men from around the country are flocking to these institutions–and with no common reason either. Everyone wants to find parties, but you can do that anywhere on a college campus. Everyone wants to make new adult friends, so why not join an extracurricular? Or hit up a peer in your class? There seems to be no valid excuse for all these students to be flocking towards an organized brotherhood. So that raises the question again, how are fraternities still around?
One may guess it is in the marketing. The rampant partying, the buff shirtless men, the fraternal bonds; all of these are enticing to the viewer. And to be granted all three in a package together is even more appealing. But it is much simpler than that. Thanks to modern technology–and fraternities' centuries-old bank accounts–brothers are able to recruit faster and easier than ever. Even if the public is hankering down on initiation rites, fraternities have grown past the point of lengthy periods. Their new members can join in under a minute.
Let us draw out an example. A few of fraternities sponsor a trip out to a private beach. They provide drinks, snacks, and entertainment. It is a common event, showcasing to new students some of the best aspects of being a brother. One of the fraternal brothers, Clay, is holding a football and searching for his next recipient.
A member of Beta Gamma Phi (βΓΦ), Clay is tall, buff, and hairy, a perfect image of masculinity. From his chiseled jaw and strong stance, one can tell he has it all (like every fraternal brother does). Eventually, he spots his target: a junior specializing in mathematics.
“Catch!”
It is a simple command, and quickly the football is flying through the air. The pigskin itself appears rather ordinary, but as was mentioned before, technological and hefty financial advancements have made it anything but. Once activated by a brother’s touch, the leather absorbs the genetic print, the internal system downloading an almost identical copy. Of course, that copy cannot be completely accurate, otherwise fraternities would be running around with a bunch of clones (although some argue they already do). The imprint is just a base code, enough to replace the recipient’s genetic mainframe. The fine details are then adjusted accordingly by utilizing and recycling the remaining DNA.
Anyway, returning back to the scene, the enhanced initiation object flies toward the lonely junior. Christopher had only come here because his friend had begged him too, stating there was no reason not to partake in the festivities. A smaller-than-average lad lacking a strong will, he could often be a pushover, both in physical and social regards. So when he heard the strapping brother’s command, he did not think twice about turning around. And to his own shock, Christopher was able to catch the football, surprising himself as the leather made contact with his skin.
Once the contact is made, the fate is sealed: Beta Gamma Phi has secured its next brother. Clay’s genetic code is then rapidly installed into Christopher’s mainframe, his biological firewalls useless against the technology. Over the span of seconds, Clay is able to watch as his program is rescripted for Christopher’s body. The junior’s height soars up, easily passing the pseudo-mandatory "six feet and over" rule that all brothers silently abide by. Once that is secure, the muscles begin to inflate.
Firm pectorals, sculpted abdominals, arms that appeared engraved into stone. Christopher’s hands bloat around the football as his bare feet bloat out into the sand. Thick calves, beefy thighs, a plumper pouch and plumper rear. As Clay gets closer, he can visibly examine the flurries of hair that arise across Christopher’s previously-naked skin. Wider neck to support a deeper register, wider jaw to support a more masculine facial structure. Even Christopher’s hair, although a blonder brown compared to Clay’s almost-black, gels up into Clay’s signature hairstyle (although it was often hidden beneath a backwards baseball cap, as it was currently).
By the time Clay approaches βΓΦ’s newest brother, his genetic print had successfully completed installation. Christopher, or Chris as he would now insist to go by, held a near-identical copy of Clay’s mainframe. He displayed Clay’s musculature and masculinity, just in his own genetic font. And his mindset, values, and goals now mimicked the fraternal brother’s too. Chris would find his new purpose relishing in sports, sex, bonding with his brothers, and continuing this pattern through a career in exercise sciences.
With a broad, pearly white smile and the football still in his right hand, Chris would then accept Clay’s invitation to join Beta Gamma Phi. Thanks to the technology, Chris would never know that he had had not once dreamed of becoming a fraternal brother, that his whole life had not been dedicated to upholding traditional masculinity. And eventually, it would be Chris and his fellow brothers’ turn to keep the fraternities alive by financing any options that would help them gain new members.

Instead of Shepard dragging Garrus around everywhere in ME1 because she wants to take him under her wing and teach him, I think it'd be a lot funnier if she drags him around everywhere because he comes pre-trained.
I mean, think about it. By the end of the first visit to the Citadel, besides Ashley and Kaidan (who are full members of the Alliance military), she has/is heading to recruit the following:
Wrex, a krogan mercenary who definitely doesn't have a file and who later admits mainly works alone and/or in very small groups, and has definitely not been part of any formal military structure or anything even remotely similar
Tali, who is a very wonderful person and very knowledgeable about the geth, but is only ~22 (her birth year is 2161 apparently), is on her people's rite of passage, and has never been formally attached to any kind of command nor has had any formal training as far as we know
Matriarch Benezia's daughter, Liara, who they know very little about at the moment other than she's an archaeologist who specializes in the Protheans and has never had any commando training, nor do they know if she even knows anything about her mother's actions
I love them, but they're not exactly on the level someone that's been part of a military for years would be.
By contrast, you have:
Garrus, who's not that much younger than Shepard herself, was part of the turian military for a few years (and had at least one ship posting from what we know from 2), and has also been part of C-Sec for awhile given he's a full fledged detective, so he's used to working in teams and being under someone's command
I feel like Shepard would have taken a look at his file and breathed a sigh of relief because there's at least one person that she won't have to worry will accidentally undermine her authority. He even comes with amazing sniping skills and tech expertise! Of course she's going to drag him around everywhere!
#i had the sudden realization and wanted to share#seriously garrus is not some kind of rookie like some people seem to imply#and i think shep would notice that#and if she doesn't... well. that says more about her than him tbh#slightly related but i imagine that shep brings more than two squadmates with her for at least big missions#the only bringing two along thing is really arbitrary and obviously only there for gameplay reasons#mass effect#garrus vakarian

I really appreciate Gulool Ja Ja as a ruler, a father, and a hero in his own right. There were concerns about why the Scions, as outsiders, would be participating in a contest of succession, and everything we learn about Gulool Ja Ja's younger years, and his reasons for the Rite of Succession, neatly addresses that.
As a much younger man, Dad^2 traveled the lands of Tural with his own diverse group of comrades, from all races and walks of life. From Kettenramm as the foreigner, to Cahciua the long-lived Shetona wilderness expert, to Pelupelu and Yok Huy, to Hanu and Xbraal; especially given the animosity between some of those clans at that time.
And along the way, Gulool Ja Ja learned how much stronger they were together. Alone he is a formidable champion, but even Blessed Siblings can't do it all. He also learned about the diverse peoples and cultures of his homeland. It's not so far off from the Warrior of Light's journey; traveling with competent heroic companions as we adventured through the 3 Continents and lands beyond them for so long, loving people and places we found along the way.
But Gulool Ja Ja also became Dawnservant, and now as his years catch up to him, a new ruler must be found. And it's in the conversation after dueling the WoL that he bluntly states his reasoning, speaking to them as a peer:
Even this early in the contest, you must have realized…As potential rulers, all four claimants are lacking. This is why I elected to hold the rite of succession─not to choose a fitting candidate, but to cultivate one. And if no one has impressed me by the end of it, then to no one will I yield my throne. As a parent, I pray that my children rise to the occasion…With outsiders dragged into my game, I am also hopeful that the different perspectives you and your companions have to offer will inspire them to grow. I imagine you in particular have traveled many lands. Known many peoples and cultures─loved them and been loved in turn. Guide Lamaty'i as you think best. Walk at her side and, when needed, push her to walk ahead. Watch over her, champion. Koana's recruits are no less sharp─as one might expect of Galuf's countrymen. They saw the flaws in our claimants from the outset. The other two, though… They dismiss comrades willing to point out their shortcomings, and no good can come of it…
Emphasis mine.
We see this too, in the interludes to Team Second Promise, as Thancred and Urianger turn on their own Dad Skills and gently guide Koana toward his own realization: that innovation is all well and good, but so is taking into account the traditions and needs of his people. As he watches his sister's growth, and how the people love and trust her to respect their ways of life, to help them because it's the right thing to do.
And Wuk Lamat learns and grows, gaining confidence, learning when to rely on her comrades, how and when to face a challenge on her own. The Wuk Lamat after level 96 is a different woman than the girl we met in Sharlayan. She's not done growing and learning, not in so short a time, but the cultivation Gulool Ja Ja put in place succeeds in her and Koana--because they are willing to learn, and listen, and love.
The other two claimants, as Dad^2 noted, don't understand the reasons for the Rite, for the methods the electors choose, or what the Dawnservant is looking for. And they refuse to entertain perspectives that would attempt to point that out, surrounded by sycophants and cronies.
Bakool Ja Ja doesn't learn the same lessons, though he comes around; he was never shown kindness and understanding, never asked what HE wanted, until Wuk Lamat demands he say it out loud. His growth is a surprising one, and along a trajectory he could never have imagined.
And Zarool Ja...his arc is a negative one, and a tragedy of his own making. He works as an antagonist because his fall is entirely avoidable, but utterly inevitable. It didn't have to be this way, yet there's no other way it could go. He internalized all the pressure and potential, all the comparisons, until it ate him alive.
This is a story about the complicated politics and demands of leading countries, of there being no easy answer to peace even when you wish there was. But it's more a story about family, and legacy, and honoring the past while striving to build a better future.
The Warrior of Light sees their own story reflected in Gulool Ja Ja's history, and in the shaping of Wuk Lamat. To fulfill their love of adventure and exploration, but from a new perspective. And taking all that experience and skill and applying it in a slightly different way, though perhaps not so different from some previous side and job quests where we help others and introduce them to friends so they can continue to grow and help themselves after WoL's moved on.
Hydaelyn's brave little spark has long been a beacon of hope for others to follow. As inheritor to the Shepherd of the Stars, the WoL takes steps toward shaping their legacy, still an active participant, but also seeing how those other stars might shine, and like Gulool Ja Ja, finding that some of those stars need a nudge to find their own glowing potential.

The fact that there is literally a recording of Dave saying the "in my name" line makes me wish so bad we could have had Origin Halsin. It wouldn't even have been that hard to change his plot around.
Just like how, if you do an Origin run, you can just ignore the normal recruitment spot, you'd have a different motivation for entering the goblin pens when playing. Instead of "Halsin and Aradin went off, he got captured by gobbos, please find him" you get "you were captured by goblins and, on orders of Ketheric Thorm, brought to Moonrise where you were tadpoled and then sent away on a Nautiloid that later crashed. You must now return to the goblin camp to stop them from attacking your Grove."
As for why Ketheric would have had Halsin tadpoled, that too would have been simple: he sent the Shadow Druids to target the Emerald Grove precisely because he remembered, 100 years ago, what a formidable fighting force the Druids were. It would not be a stretch to imagine that instead of sending them (or along with sending them), he decided to have their leader tadpoled and turned into a mouthpiece for his cause. Those who would blindly follow Halsin would follow, while those who would have resisted would have stayed under Kagha's leadership and performed the Rite of Thorns. But then the Nautiloid crashed and Halsin retained his free will thanks to the artifact.
Like c'mon, it would require next to NOTHING changing story-wise. You could even use the same "the tadpole did it" excuse Gale and Wyll have to explain why an Archdruid is now level 1. The literal only thing that would have to change is the portal, but even that could be tweaked so that you fight a similar hoard of enemies while you go looking for Thaniel.
(Also, on a shallow note, it would mean I'd get to enjoy seeing Halsin get pegged by Karlach if I chose.)
Maybe in 10-15 years we'll get a remaster/anniversary edition which will have Origin Halsin? *Wistful sigh* I mean, if Square Enix can make an entire trilogy of just remakes of Final Fantasy 7...

thinking about the struggle between grey wardens and the orlesian chantry and who supersedes who. the chantry feeling undermined when the grey wardens recruit mages out of their circles, giving mages unprecedented levels of freedom and a life outside of the circle. resentment building because of this. the grey wardens leaning a little too hard into their rite of conscription that can be used vindictively and spitefully because wardens are still human and fallible. its so juicy. i miss it so much. anders' recruitment in awakening was such an interesting microcosm of this tension i wish we saw more if it
#i love politicssssss i love tension between factions !! ughhhh the Potential... and yet.#the position of the fereldan wardens post fifth blight will always fascinate me theres so much going on there

Roisia Lydgate: Character Overview
This is really more of a background introduction to her character, but I'm trying to put as much information in one place for future reference or for anyone who wants to get a better idea of her character. Details underneath the cut!
Meta-Knowledge
Roisia is my Source Hunter from Divinity: Original Sin, but I recreated her in Baldur’s Gate 3 as a way to continue her story albeit in a completely different universe. The story and events of DOS have since become part of her backstory, and tweaked to fit the world of Faerûn.
Name Pronunciation
I’m honestly none too fussed about pronunciation. Her name is an 11th century mediaeval name that would later become “Rose” in Middle English. Roisia is probably meant to be pronounced something like /ɹɔɪːsiːɑ/ (Roy-see-ah) based on other name variants found around the same time. Her nicknames, as given to her by her parents, include: Rose, Rosie, petal, pet, rosebud, bud, so on and so forth.
Personality
Roisia is charming, adventurous, with a voracious curiosity, and a deeply analytical mind. She believes that taking care of the dead and providing a voice for the dead is her life’s calling. She was formerly raised to be a Cleric of Kelemvor, but believes that her god has disowned her since she reanimated her father. She now believes herself to be deemed among the Faithless. She’s compassionate to those in need and is willing to break rules (and the law) to help others. While she is generally a law-abiding citizen, she is dogged in pursuing the whims of her curiosity and will likewise do whatever it takes to solve a puzzle, a mystery, or a murder… or simply answer a question that has occurred to her. She is sociable, prefers when everyone gets along, and will try to talk her way into and out of most situations. This includes charming, reasoning, intimidating, and/or deceiving others to get her desired outcome. Ultimately, she finds solace and comfort in the company of animals, the dead, and books. Her favourite animal is the noble spider, and she breeds and raises some species in her spare time.
Spells and Such
I tried as best I could to replicate Roisia’s DOS character. In DOS, she was classed as a Witch. Witchcraft spells in DOS are a mixture of Necromancy spells and Enchantment spells, and I chose my spells in BG3 to imitate the ones that you get in DOS. As a witch in DOS, Roisia also had the ability to talk to animals and summon a spider. (I cheesed this in BG3 with the Find Familiar spell—technically a Conjuration spell—and having her drink a potion after every long rest.) To be more in keeping with her backstory, I gave her a Guild Artisan background and invested skill points in skills like Medicine.
Backstory
Roisia grew up in Eastway of Baldur’s Gate. Her father worked in the Gray Harbor shipyard as a shipwright and her mother was a Mortarch, running the Eastway Cemetery & Lydgate Funeral Service. She was raised to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a Cleric of Kelemvor, and specifically as a Mortarch, from an early age. She assisted her mother in managing the burial customs and rites for the Lower City’s diverse community (from embalming to ritualistic cannibalism to poisonings), comforting grieving family members of the deceased, and tending to the dead buried in the cemetery.
Her life took an unexpected turn when her father drowned during a sea trial. Grieving for her father, Roisia made her first attempt at Necromancy. She unwittingly used a wish spell in the process and reanimated him as a skeleton. Because it was the wish spell, not her first attempt at a necromantic ritual, that bound the soul of her father to his bones, Roisia is determined to master the School of Necromancy and truly resurrect her father.
She is interrupted in her early studies by the appearance of Eustace, who recruited her into the Source Hunters, an organisation dedicated to eradicating dangerous magic users (like… Necromancers). “We need you,” he said. “… and you need us.” Roisia & Eustace (or Roy & Stacey as they became known to each other) investigated the mysterious murder of a town counsellor and uncovered a Necromantic cult in the process. As they adventured together, Roisia began to develop feelings for Eustace, but as their adventure concluded and they returned to the Source Hunter Academy, Eustace did not return those feelings. Dejected, Roisia left the Source Hunters and returned to her home in Baldur’s Gate.
To “cure” herself of her heartbreak, Roisia drew up a list of lifelong goals for herself. They are:
1. A cemetery or plot of land of her own to oversee. 2. “Tenants”/”Residents” (aka The Deceased) to house and tend to on this land. 3. To master Necromancy such that she can extend indefinitely her own life and the lives of her loved ones. 4. One (1) Spouse (*not of the squeamish variety) 5. Children (*ideally 3-5)
Refocused aggressively on her list, Roisia returned to her duties during the day and her studies during the night. She was abducted by the nautiloid one night while she was off to dig up a new test subject.

Phryne Ingellvar Banter
writing full fics is still kind of exhausting to me, so I've taken to writing fake banters for my Mourn Watch Rook, Phryne Ingellvar. Most of them are with Emmrich, because he's her romance, but maybe I'll eventually expand on her relationships with the other members of the Veilguard. A lot of this is mostly bits and bobs from Phryne's backstory.
*
[During Emmrich's recruitment quest, as they’re traversing through the Necropolis]
Emmrich: Surely we’ve crossed paths before, Rook? It seems bizarre that we’ve both been Watchers for so long and never interacted. I swear the name Ingellvar sounds familiar…
Phryne: Well, I mostly did grunt work. Escorts for trainees entering the Necropolis for the first time, protecting mourners visiting the graves. That sort of thing. Probably not what you spent most of your time doing.
Emmrich: Ah, I see. Still…
Phryne: Though we have met before.
Emmrich: Oh? I’m sorry, I can’t recall…
Phryne: Don’t worry about it, Professor. It was almost a decade ago, and it was brief.
Emmrich: Well, you remembered. I hope I made a good first impression, at least?
Phryne: I don’t think you’re capable of leaving a bad one, from what I’ve seen so far.
Harding: Um, sorry to interrupt, but can we maybe focus on the horde of despair demons charging at us right now?
Phryne & Emmrich: Spirits!
Harding: Whatever!
*
[When Phryne goes to see how Emmrich is settling in]
Emmrich: When did we meet, Rook? It’s been driving me mad.
Phryne: Oh, alright. It was at a funeral. My son’s. You administered his final rites and prepared his body for burial.
Emmrich: Oh! Of course. I remember now.
Phryne: Really? It was so long ago, and I’m sure you’ve performed dozens of final rites over the years. I wouldn’t be upset if you couldn’t recall…
Emmrich: Not many Nevarrans left to join the Inquisition. It was seen as a primarily “southern” concern, despite the danger it posed to all of Thedas. I remember thinking that young Rothe Ingellvar must have been a fine young man, to give his life for such a cause.
Phryne: He was.
Emmrich: I’m sure I said it back then, but my condolences, Rook.
Phryne: Thank you, Emmrich.
*
Emmrich: I’ve been wondering something, Rook. If you don’t mind a personal question.
Phryne: Ask away.
Emmrich: We’ve been in the Mourn Watch for almost the same number of years. You’re an incredible warrior, a natural born leader, and every other Watcher I’ve asked has nothing but wonderful things to say about you.
Phryne: Aw. Thanks. But… what’s the question?
Emmrich: By all accounts, you should be extremely high up in the ranks. But by your own admission, you’re just “a grunt.” Why haven’t you been promoted?
Phryne: Ah. Well. They tried, at first. But I joined the Watch after I had my kids, so they were my priority. Promotions meant more responsibility, more responsibility meant more time away from them. And then, after rejecting promotions for years, they finally stopped trying. Happily been a grunt ever since.
Emmrich: I suppose I can understand that. But wouldn’t a promotion also mean more money with which to support your family?
Phryne: My mother left me with her estate when she passed. We were always comfortable. I just wanted as much time with my kids as possible.
Emmrich: That’s very admirable.
Phryne: Really? Mother always said my lack of ambition was my fatal flaw.
Emmrich: I think love for one’s family outweighs that.
*
Emmrich: The Battleaxe!
Phryne: Sorry?
Emmrich: Your surname, Ingellvar — it’s been nagging at me, but I finally remember where I’ve heard it before! Your mother was Prudence Ingellvar, the Battleaxe!
Phryne: Oh! (Laughs) I forgot they used to call her that. Yeah, that was my mother. You knew her?
Emmrich: I’m afraid I never had the good fortune, but I knew her reputation. A staunch traditionalist, to be sure, but such exemplary understanding of anatomy and theory! Her essay on both magical and mundane methods of preserving vital organs was quite innovative!
Phryne: Oh, she would’ve adored you.
*
[After revisiting the Necropolis for the first time and speaking with Myrna and Vorgoth]
Emmrich: Phryne?
Phryne: Yes?
Emmrich: Just making sure I heard correctly. Back at the Necropolis, Myrna called you ‘Phryne’ rather than ‘Rook’. Is that your given name?
Phryne: Oh, it is. Rook is a… recent nickname. Varric started calling me that after we met. Something about chess pieces.
Emmrich: What would you prefer to be called?
Phryne: Rook is probably easier. No one could ever pronounce Phryne right when I was younger. The number of times I was called ‘Frine’ or ‘Fern’...
Emmrich: (laughs) A shame. It’s a lovely name.
Phryne: Well. I like it when you say it.
Emmrich: Very well. Phryne.
*
[During their first date]
Phryne: This is one of the more romantic dates I’ve been on.
Emmrich: How wonderful! I was afraid I’d lost my touch. Between work and research and teaching Manfred, there hasn’t been time lately for company.
Phryne: I know what you mean.
Emmrich: Do you?
Phryne: Well, I spent the last year or so hunting down Solas. Not a lot of time for courting. And even before that, I’d… sort of given up on romance.
Emmrich: Oh. May I ask why?
Phryne: Dating’s hard with kids. I always had someone willing to look after them if I had plans for the evening, but a lot of the time, people were put off by the fact that I even had children. Or the kids would hate them for whatever reason. Or things would work out for a while before fizzling out. So I stopped focusing on relationships and just focused on… the physical side of things.
Emmrich: I see…
Phryne: Does that… bother you? My ‘experience’? I know some people find it unladylike.
Emmrich: My dear, I would never hold your past against you. I’m only marveling at my good fortune, to be the one to show you how a proper courtship works.
Phryne: Ooh. Bold words, Volkarin. Are you sure you have the skills to back up that confidence?
Emmrich: You’re not the only one with experience, darling.
*
[After Harding asking about whether Emmrich is a noble]
Harding: So you’re really not nobility? Volkarin just sounds so… fancy.
Emmrich: It’s a commoner’s name. My father was a butcher and my mother was a cook. If you want to speak to Nevarran nobility, you could always ask Rook.
Harding: (laughs) Right.
Emmrich: …
Harding: … Wait, really? Rook is a noble?
Phryne: You don’t need to sound so surprised.
Harding: It’s just… you don’t really act like…
Phryne: To my mother’s chagrin, I know. But in my defense, I was adopted.
Emmrich: Oh, truly? I hadn’t known that.
Phryne: Mother and a few of our undead found me in an abandoned crypt when I was just an infant. She took me in, raised me as her own.
Emmrich: How sweet! I’d heard one of our own was a cryptling, I had no idea it was you!
Harding: … You were found in a tomb? As a baby?
Emmrich: That isn’t so unusual in Nevarra. Many Watchers see them as an omen!
Phryne: Whether I was a good or bad omen depended on if I took a nap that day. According to my mother.
Harding: … Nevarrans are so weird.
