Pairing: Dean x Reader,Charlie, Michael

Summary: Your life is far from perfect or easy but you do the best with the family that you have constructed around you.

A/N: This story takes place in an AU where hunting isn’t a thing and the read grew up with the boys and their family. I am still super new to writing so I would love your feedback, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this :)

Get caught up here - Master list

Days turned into weeks, then months but the worry only continued to grow for those that loved you. Dean and Bobby made it clear that after everything that went down you should move back home. While you didn’t love that idea, you didn’t hate it either.

You also knew the other shoe was dropping at work. The company has had issues for months and did a very large downsizing about 6 months ago. Now people were talking to your department. You wanted to tell Charlie but you couldn’t and that was weighing heavy on you. You did try to drop hint leaving job posting up on the computer but she didn’t get it.

You and Dean were pretty much at a stand still, yes you knew you liked him but couldn’t bring yourself to do anything more than that knowing that you ass of an ex might do something to hurt him. While Michael did spend some time in jail he was let out on bail awaiting his trail. That was probably the final nail in the coffin for Colorado.

“So Charlie, there is something that I need to tell you ,” you timidly saying pouring glasses of wine after work.

“If it’s that you are moving back to Kansas, there better be a room for me”

“Wait what?” The shock clear in your voice.

“First of all, everyone knows that we will all probably be out of a job like in 6 months so why should I wait. To be honest I don’t really want to run into Michael anywhere, I just might kill him,” she chuckled.

“Honestly, I was just planning on taking some time off and moving back in with Bobby,” you said.

“Okay so that’s option B, how about you look at option A,” Charlie paused pulling up and email on her phone handing it to you, “I found this cute house total in my budget so you don’t even have to chip in. I figure it will be a good place for you to rest your head till you move in with Dean. Oh and I have a job interview next week, for a company here but they said I could work remotely from there.”

You wrap Charlie in the biggest hug possible let out , “Yes of course, but I am not sure about the moving in with Dean part just yet.”

Life was still far from perfect but right now you were happy with how things were looking. You and Charlie continue to talk and enjoy your wine when you notice that her face in buried in her phone you ask “Who are you texting?”

“Just a friend that needs to man up and make a move,” she says with a chuckle.

Charlie : she said yes

Dean : What?

Charlie: I asked Y/N to marry me and she said yes

Dean: lol, I am pretty sure that’s not true you two don’t play for the same team

Charlie: Fine, you’re right. But kid you better get your act together before she changes teams. Oh and ps we are moving to Kansas before the wedding.

Dean: What really

Your phone dings and you pick it up. “Are you fucking kidding me Charlie?!”

Dean: Hi Sweetheart, I hear you are coming home is that right?

Y/N : I think that’s the plan right now.

Dean: I can’t wait for you to get here and be a full-time member of the family….Charlie too.

Y/N : Thank you

You don’t elaborate on anything else, while it feels good to talk to him it’s too much right now and you feel better behind your walls.

Dean: How is life going, I feel like it’s been a minute since we talked kid.

Y/N: It’s okay, did Sam tell you that they released Michael on bail.

Dean: No...when are you moving back and how can I help.

Y/N: We are still working out the details so I will let me know.

Dean: And you are still staying with Charlie?

Y/N: Yes you don’t have to worry.

Dean: Y/N I know I don’t have to worry but I do because you are family and I like you sweetheart. I am probably going to worry till you get back here, where we can all help you stay safe.

Y/N: I get it Dean, if I need anything I will let you know I promise.

Dean: Alright kid as long as you promise. Keep me posted on the details.

“Thanks for making that a bigger deal than it needed to me Charlie,” you let out with a smirk.

“Look he’s going to find out anyway, so what’s the big deal.”

You roll your eyes and let out,” You know what the big deal is.”

Charlie knows what you are talking about so she changes the subject and you two plan the rest of the move over the wine.

The next morning you decided to just tell your boss the new plan. Mr Clovin wasn’t surprised at all, in fact with the layoff that were coming he had already talked to his boss about your date being flexible based on what had happened. Your staff was going to be gone in only two weeks and leadership was expected to stay for another month after that to help wrap things up. You did offer to stay however he said absolutely not, especially with Michael out on bail.

You didn’t put up a fight when he also informed you of your 6 month severance pay. You were happy that things were going your way today you had some dates you could share with Bobby and everyone else. Returning to you desk you share the good new with Charlie and she puts two and two together to realise you will both have the same last day, without you having to say anything. Charlie leaves your office once you phone rings.

“Hi Bobby, how are you?”

“Well kid I am excited that you will be moving back here and Dean said something about Charlie coming too. We can make room for her too.”

“Thank you Bobby, I think we found a place to stay but we might be there before that. I think we will be leaving in about 2 weeks.”

Your conversation trails off talking about life and your plan on moving back. Rightnow you and Charlie are planning on making it a two day drive. However the issue is you both have cars and will probably need a box van to move all of your stuff out there. Bobby offers up some suggestions on the best way for you to make it all happen before ending the call.

The next few days flew by, work was super busy wrapping things up and with the move right around the corner, there was no time for any fun or really anything that wasn’t packing or cleaning. Today was friday and it was your official last day at work, and for the first time in a long time both you and Charlie decided to have some fun going out with everyone else you worked with.

The bar that they choose was only a few blocks away, so you both decided to walk and not worry about the drive home since well you would both be too tipsy to drive. When you walked seeing everyone you worked with, it was bittersweet at best. But that didn’t stop anyone from drinking, dancing or having an all over good time.

Charlie was letting you do most of the drinking tonight, while she stayed on watch. Both her and Dean had talked earlier in the week, they were worried that Michael might show his face tonight. Drinking late in a large bar there was only so much that could be done. Dean had also agreed to fly out tonight and help you two make the drive.

Dean finds Charlie before he finds you. “Hey kiddo, how is it going?” Dean says giving Charlie a big hug.

“Ah okay,” she says trying to locate you on the dance floor, “ to be honest I don’t have a great feeling about tonight and I am so happy that you are here.”

You see Charlie looking for you and start to leave the dance floor, while you are walking off you feel odd so you stop and look around but don’t see anything to be worried about so continue walking towards Charlie. Then you see him, excited fills your body.

“Oh my god, DEAN,” you yell jumping into his arms.

“Well someone is having a good night,” Dean laughs.

Due to your tipsy state you don’t see Charlie tap Dean’s arm and point as she walks away. Dean notices the same thing Charlie does but doesn’t say anything to you just simply asks if you want another drink while escorting you to the bar. During this walk Dean makes sure to keep his arm around you while still keeping an eye on Charlie. Right now while you drunkenly talk Dean sees Charlie yelling at him, before she walks away.

“Hey sweetheart what do you say we start to head home?”

You pout your lower lip and give him your best puppy dog eyes.

“So that’s a no,” Dean laughs.

Another 45 minutes rolls by and with all the dancing and drinking, you need to use the restroom. You hurry off the dance room floor to stand in line for the restroom, making sure Charlie and Dean see where you are going. And of course there is a line, since you are drunk you openly talk with the people waiting in line about everyday stuff and that’s when you see him, Michael looking straight at you. It’s your turn to enter the bathroom so you pull out your phone and message Dean.

Before you are done you hear a knock on the bathroom door with a lovely voice following it, “ Y/N Sweetheart, it’s time to go.”
