The Heathers + Veronica and Halloween

Jello Shots it's Halloween, Liver Spots it's Halloween

Halloween is probably the holiday that the residents of the Chandler-Duke-McNamara-Sawyer household look forward to the most

Mac still maintains that Christmas is better, but even so she still gets super excited when October rolls around

The four of them go all out for the holiday

They build a giant graveyard in their lawn

They've bought custom fake tombstones that have their names written on them, about 7 skeleton's worth of fake bones, bags of spiderwebs, giant spiders, several animatronic ghosts, the list goes on

It takes a while to set up just because of the sheer amount of stuff, but when it's done it looks amazing

People will come from miles around to see their decorations and take pictures, and their house has ended up on Youtube and even on the local news a few times

The main attraction is the giant skeleton that Chandler got one time

It's easily three stories tall and has to be stored in a warehouse whenever it's not in use, but it is terrifying seeing this giant skeleton tower over the already massive mansion

It also has to be put up by helicopter, which is not cheap

Chandler had gotten it as a prank

The others were being very annoying (they beat her at Mario Party and she is the pettiest of bitches) so she decided to prank them and did so with some Halloween spirit

The idea was that they would come home from work and see this giant skeleton and freak out, but what really happened was that they got home and were amazed at how cool and scary their house looked

She got upset because they were supposed to be scared, to which they said "Heather it's literally 3 fucking stories tall we could see it from miles away"

His name is Mr. Skel Eton (it was Mac's choice, Chandler thought it was dumb but Duke and Veronica liked it and it stuck) and every year they look forward to his installation and dread paying for his removal

Around the middle of the month Mac will come to them with her costume theme

Her and Chandler had always done themed costumes when they were kids, like Anna and Elsa or the Powerpuff Girls (Mac was Bubbles, Chandler was Blossom), a tradition which they continued into adulthood

Some of the costumes they've done include;

South Park: (Chandler as Cartman, Duke as Kyle, Veronica as Stan and Mac as Kenny)

The Wizard of Oz: (Chandler as Glinda the Good, Duke as the Wicked Witch, Veronica as the Scarecrow, Mac as Dorothy)

Spongebob: (Chandler as Mr. Krabs, Duke as Squidward, Veronica as Patrick, Mac as Spongebob)

The Nightmare before Christmas: (Chandler as Sandy Claws, Duke as the Oogie Boogie, Veronica as Jack, Mac as Sally)

Scooby-Doo: (Chandler as Daphne, Duke as Velma, Veronica as Shaggy, Mac as Fred)

Teletubbies: (Chandler as Po, Duke as Dipsy, Veronica as Tinky-Winky, Mac as La-La)

Sometimes they re-use these costumes for Comic-Con

Sometimes they get Betty and Martha to abandon their usual Wesley and Buttercup costumes and go with them, for instance during the year they did Wizard of Oz they went as the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Man, but some years they year the theme and say hell no

Such was the case during the Teletubbies year

Chandler had tried to nope out of that one too but Veronica and Duke told her that if they had to be humiliated so did she

JD also gets roped into this, but he doesn't have a choice in the matter

Veronica will just send him a text saying "You're gonna be XXX this year" and if he tries to refuse Chandler and Duke will get increasingly petty and bother him until he accepts

They made him go as Noo-Noo the Teletubbies year and he literally glued a vacuum to his nose

He didn't speak to any of them for a good few weeks

If they don't need him to join with the theme he'll dress as Jason Vorhees and hide in their bushes, jumping out if someone gets too close

Mac was kinda upset by this, but he reassured her he only does it to people who look like dicks and never kids, so she just kinda accepts it

During the Halloween season they'll watch some appropriate movies

Chandler, under absolutely no circumstances will watch a horror film

She despises them with every fiber of her being, if she sees Veronica or Duke watching one she will go sit outside or go to 7/11 until its over

Mac also gets nightmares if she watches one

One time they watched The Shining and Mac insisted that she is an adult, she can handle a stupid movie

She could not

They had to sleep with the lights on for weeks after

That being the case they usually stick to PG films

Of course that comes with its own issues

None of them can agree wether A Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas or Halloween movie, if they play it in October Veronica and Chandler say that its too early, if they play it after Duke and Mac say that its too late

They tried to watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown but they all got so pissed off at how stupid Linus was being that they had to shut it off

Hocus Pocus and Coraline are good options that don't result in an argument breaking out

Their favorite Halloween movies;

Mac - Muppets Haunted Mansion

The latter is a point of contention

The other three think that its stupid, but Mac loves both the Muppets and Haunted Mansion and even if they Kermit puppeteer doesn't sound quite right she still loves the movie

As for candy, their house is usually filled to the brim with sweets but this gets even worse around Halloween

They'll go to Costco the week before to load up on the boxes of the full sized Hershey bars and the like, but Chandler has to hide them so her wives don't eat them all

She made that mistake once, and none of her wives could hear straight for a week after the yelling spiel she went on

"WE ARE ADULTS, IF YOU WANT CANDY GO TO THE FUCKING STORE AND BUY YOUR OWN, WHY DO YOU IMBICILES INSIST ON STEALING THE ONES FOR HALLOWEEN WHEN YOU KNOW THAT THE STORES ARE GONNA BE SOLD OUT SOON..." and she went on and on and on and on

Like literally everything else in their lives they argue over candy corn

Mac and Veronica love it, Duke and Chandler would rather eat cow manure

Chandler absolutely refuses to buy any on her shopping trips or even let it in her kitchen so they have to keep bowls in their rooms

Eventually Halloween night rolls around

Their house is well known for being one that gives out full size candy bars, so people will travel near and far to get some

It got so bad one year that they eventually limited it to one bar per person per night, but to make up for it they bought a giant cauldron and filled it with smaller candy and everyone was allowed to grab as much as they could in a single handful

Some people have gotten creative with the word handful, making things like giant hands to grab more candy

Usually the four of them will hand out the big candy and Martha and Betty will handle the smaller candy, making sure no one is coming back for seconds

While she is handing out the candy Chandler reflects on her past

Her mother was vehemently against Halloween, claiming it to be the devil's holiday and forbidding Chandler to participate

On Halloween itself she would drop Chandler off at Mac's Dad's, going to church to pray for the salvation of humanity or whatever and not wanting the others to see the evidence of her sin (Chandler)

Mac's Dad thankfully wasn't a massive prick like Chandler's and would buy a costume for Chandler in secret and let her and Mac go trick or treating

The night always ended too fast, Chandler being forced to give her candy to Mac to hide the evidence from her mom, but she never forgot those happy memories they shared

And in the present, she can't help but give some extra candy to the kids she sees trick or treating with their friends, seeing her and Mac in them

Like, Ronica, who is voicing out her annoyance towards the Heathers but then someone she's with in the room voices their disdain for them loudly and very obnoxiously. And Veronica who suddenly forgot she shouldn't care about them as people glares and with the most condescending voice you would ever hear from her goes "Say that again."

And the Heathers may or may not have overheard.

Veronica grumbled as she glared down at the note in her hand.

'Come to the parking lot after school, we need to get you actual clothes bitch

Veronica felt a falte of annoyance as she glanced at the note again, re-reading it as if it would magically change the words.

Well, it's not like she could ditch this time, she was already "on thin ice" since the party, if she missed this Chandler might show up at her house with an ax and murderous intent.

Veronica sighed in resignation. She opened her locker, with slightly more force than was necessary, cursing under her breath as she did.

"-Exactly! She obviously only got the position because of it, it makes sense, right Ronica?"

An obnoxious voice broke Veronica out of her thoughts. Veronica whipped around, facing the source of the voice, a shorter freshman, leaning against the locker beside her own, a far too cocky expression on his face, his friend, or at least Veronica assumed was his friend, standing on his left, wearing a notably more nervous expression.

"Pardon?" Veronica asked, raising an eyebrow at the young boy, not many people came up to her these days, at least not casually, everyone had left her alone since she joined the Heathers,apart from a few football players trying to gain a quick fuck or a country club kid trying to start small talk.

"Heather McNamara, everyone knows that she only made cheer captain because she spread her legs for the coach."

The kid was suicidal, it was the only possible explanation of why he would spout such bullshit, surely he wasn't that fucking stupid.

Veronica felt the thin sheet of patience she had left snap as she glared daggers at the kid.

The hallway went silent.

The freshman's friend, apparently the one with the common sense, looked Sorin wildly, seemingly searching for a possible escape route. The freshman himself still had a cocky grin on his face, apparently too stupid to realize he had just written his death in stone.

Veronica put her diary back into her locker turning to face the kid fully, her height now clearly displayed as she towered over the freshman.

"Say that again, even hint at it really, and I will make your life a living hell, you will be wishing for death by the time I'm done with you, I will make sure your can never even breathe normally again," Veronica said, her voice resembling a tone that you would use on a small child, it was loud enough for the freshman, and a couple of students that were nearby, to hear.

The confidence of the kid's face crumbled, his eyes now wide with fear as he stayed in shock at Veronica's word's.

"Do you understand me?" Veronica demanded more than asked, the kid could only nod rapidly.

"Good, now leave before I tear you a new asshole," Veronica said, apparently breaking whatever spell he had been under, making the kid scramble away, his friend close behind.

Veronica glared at them until they were no longer in her line of sight. Veronica turned back to her locker, reaching for her once again for her diary.

"Aww, who knew you were so protective, Sawyer."

Veronica froze momentarily at the familiar voice, she turned around to find Heather Chandler standing just across her, a smug smile spread on her face, just behind her were Duke, who had an unreadable expression, and Mac, who was completely red in the face.

Veronica's gaze lingered on Mac, was she sick? Embarrassed because of what the Gresham had said? That last thought made Veronica want to go in the hunt for the kid and make good on her promise.

"Come on now, we still have to go to the mall after all."

I know I keep putting her as the Main Girl in these musicals, but she really is the most equipped for the job. She obviously has good vocals and knows how to lead a crowd, she's the best host!

Jason Dean - Mondo Owada

Y'know I had to make my main Bad Boy THE Main Bad Boy. He would kill all the JD main songs (Freeze your Brain, Our Love is God, Meant to be Yours, ect.) and he would have so much fun doing it!

Heather Chandler (Red) - Junko Enoshima

Obviously. She is THE Bad Bitch who likes to mess with people. She would have so much fun as a sarcastic ghost.

Heather Duke (Green) - Aoi Asahina

I have absolutely no basis for this. I just think it would be fun for her to take over the popular title after Junko-Heather dies. She has so much energy and I think she would be great at being fake condescending.

Heather McNamara (Yellow) - Mukuro Ikusaba

Another obvious pick. She's already pathetic (affectionate) in canon so why would it be any different in musical form? Having Sayaka encourage her not to off herself and to be more confident is an adorable thought.

Kurt Kelly - Leon Kuwata

I think Leon would love to be the 'Smartest of the Football Team' and the greatest FuckBoy in the musical. Plus how could he pass up singing a whole song about Blue Balls?

Ram Sweeney - Chihiro Fujisaki

This is so funny to me. Thinking about Chihiro humping a pig statue and begging Sayaka to sleep with them is so funny. Please re-watch the musical, but every time Ram pops up, imagine Fujisaki and I swear, you will love it.

Martha Dunnstock - Kiyotaka Ishimaru

Martha is bullied literally the entire musical and is naive. This reminds me of Taka. That's it, that's the whole explanation. I can't think of anyone else that would fit here. Maybe Makoto, but I don't know.

Pauline Fleming/Ms. Fleming - Yasuhiro Hagakure

I saw someone else put Hiro as Ms. Fleming and I don't know why, but that makes sense. I think him being an adult or teacher of some sort, especially someone as silly as Ms. Fleming, is the right choice.

There aren't many major characters so it was easier to sort, plus I personally don't take Heathers as seriously as I do Hamilton. I see Hamilton as a Drama with a fleck of humor while I see Heather's as the opposite. A story infused with humor with a fleck of Drama. (I mean there LITERALLY is a whole song about Blue Balls which is so funny to me) Because of that, I don't have to think as hard about categorizing which is so nice.

I got "Vampires and Werewolves" and "Vampires and Werewolves" . . .

so when I re-spun I got "Enemies Working Together" so yeah I can see the basic outline of an idea.

Let's just say it's a Heathers fic for example, you could have Veronica Sawyer as a werewolf approaching the vampiric Heathers for a boon and what not. Maybe the Heathers would call her "dog" and stuff like that. Maybe JD is a monster hunter and while he says he's only after the vampires it becomes more and more obvious that he's gonna kill Veronica once the Heathers are dead.

I don't think it is something I would write but it was a fun thought experiment

Didn’t those conversations about knowing best and being the only people who could do what was right for the people they cared for ring all the more hollow now, thinking back on them? Those conversations where he dared to ask if Mitsugi and Akio were happy–if what she’d done to them was truly right if there was the potential for them to be broken by her actions. 

As if her actions were the thing that was popping their bones from their joints like abused Barbies. As if her leaving wasn’t snipping the plastic twist ties that bound them to their boxes.

There are hundreds of thousands of insults and barbs that she would love to throw at him, but where was the point in that? Egos like theirs craved attention. The only negative attention that would likely do anything to him was anything that came from the ones he thought would smile and clap at his reveal. No, instead, she forces down every single hot brand she wants to press onto his flesh, and just stares at him with mock apathy.

That, as a being of Pride just like him, she knew would hurt more than any insult.

Or, well, maybe whatever Hisashi’s doing is even worse.

She turns her head to look at him, wondering what the hell he’s laughing about since, apparently, his little group of explorers got turbo fucked over and that’s what they were so mad about, but his sudden change in demeanor makes her look at him and Olwin once again. He’s right. There’s a surprising lack of blood that isn’t blue or black, which means…

The horn clatters and slides against the wood of the table, and he revels in Alou’s confusion and righteous indignation, proclaiming his role in yet another blood-soaked homicide all while calling the guy she hates more than anyone else in this room right now a “dumb motherfucker.”

Veronica Sawyer was spitting truths when she said, “Damn.”

She’s shaken from her moment of…admiration (if you could call literal hair twirling and lip biting “admiration” over, y’know, another homicide) by Micah filling in the rest of the story that they didn’t know until now. 

When she looks at him, she’s still unable to not see the pathetic little man who would probably give half of his life savings to a scammer pretending to be Hello Kitty over a chainmail, but the beautiful thing about people, Arisa has found during her time here, is that they’re a patchwork of parts. His is dollar store cotton blends, but it’s, surprisingly, stitched together with Kevlar thread. Who would have thought, huh? Micah “VTuber fanboy” Linne, man of the hour.

What a shame. All of the admiration that her dorm mate almost certainly craved more than anything else on the planet was going to all go right over his head and into Micah’s proverbial pocket. Really, she’s crying rivers over here.

To showcase her empathy for Alou’s plight, she says to Micah:

“I’d offer to give your cash back, but I’m taking that as a down payment for the ‘making up for the helping with the murder game in the beginning’ thing that this whole stunt’s paying off the rest of the way. You understand, right? But I’ll still let you keep my Hell-o Titty concept, on the house.”

Sure, he might have orchestrated the saving of their souls or whatever, but…she has a reputation. Even if it’s hard to take her nonchalance as serious when there’s a jitter to her voice that’s not dissimilar to what you’d hear from someone about to go down their first water slide. Or, more accurately, someone, apparently, about to get her fucking soul back from literal Hell.

Now, her eyes slide over to the Game Master, and a cat-like grin overtakes her face as she crosses her legs, lacing her fingers together as her elbows prop themselves up on the table. She rests her chin in her hands, raising both eyebrows and, rather unapologetically, laughs in a way that makes this banquet table feel more like a wobbling, folding table in the grimy cafeteria of Small Town High School, USA.

“Some Crowning Game, huh? Don’t worry, I’m sure someone’ll drop by Burger King to grab one of their crowns for you.”

Her expression drops to something innocent, wide-eyed and so mockingly oblivious it stings. With a sweet voice, she calls back to their last conversation together.

“You said the only time you can understand me is when I’m ripping into your throat. Mind if I do it literally? Might finally understand you, too. Better late than never, right?”

With a wink and a grin, she loses interest in the deposed king, choosing instead to fix her attention on a different serial killer, batting his arm incessantly until he looks at her and whispering excited, rushed words at both him and Olwin.

(It’s about the murder, if you needed a reminder that she sucks and should probably just stay in Hell. But, well, “everyone’s souls” means everyone, and she is part of everyone.)

alright I've not seen Stranger Things so my reading could be VERY off here, but there's something quite interesting to think about Nancy Wheeler as what Veronica Sawyer might have been in a different genre

Ok, I literally just rewatched Heathers the musical just to respond because this question has been keeping me up at night for many days already, at first i thought about Ninja, since after Heather Chandlers death (el matador) she takes her red scrunchie and becomes the new leader, but you know, him letting el matador tell him to shut up and he actually shutting up isnt really something he would do! The only person that comes to mind possible to shut up at el matador screaming at him is Klaus, but Klaus would NEVER make one of his friends almost kill themselves!

I can think of Shane Finn, since (i dont remember very well) but I think in one ep we can see Liquido telling him to shut up and he actually just doing what he says and looking away, i dont really know if he fits the evil part since hes kind of a backround character we cant really get to know his personality, but we usually see him doing everything Liquido does and following his lead, like for example making fun of North!

but the thing that doesn't really leave me right is that since hes a background character, seeing him with a principal character such as El Matador would be kind of... weird? But hes really the only one that can come to mind possible of being Heather Duke

and also, now that ive rewatched Heathers i think its time to kind of re-do the cast!!

--we can see that, after her death, she LOVES the attention they give her because of her "suicide", and also since Veronica is the only one that can see her she usually makes her feel guilty of her actions and one time even tried to control her

Greetings and salutations!

First of all, I came here to thank you for the followers I've gained on this blog in the last few days! Knowing that there are people who still like Heathers and who liked my stories about them is a greater comfort to my heart!

Now, taking advantage of the fact that you are enjoying my stories, I decided to spice things up a bit here with a slight competition between these two (the definition of bisexual was successfully updated), I hope you like it!

Prompt: At the same time you're dating JD, you're in love with Veronica. And while your boyfriend is crazy about you, your crush seems to respond to your feelings. And now? Which of the two will you stay with?

“Please, sweetie, stay a little longer.”

JD pressed hot kisses down your neck and across your face, leaning against the closet, in plain sight. If there was one thing your boyfriend wanted, it was to show that you were his, and of course, whenever there was an opportunity, JD wouldn't hesitate, even if you were in class.

"Sorry J, but I have to go...", you whispered, pulling away from him. "I have art class now, and if I'm late one more time, I'm going to get a big suspension."

He nodded, pulling away from you with a less than happy expression, but he let you go anyway. His extremely protective instinct made him stay alert, those eyes narrowed as you walked out of the locker room and into the classroom hallway.

Anyone who knew you in Westerburg knew that this was the moment you paid the least attention in class, simply because you were sitting in pairs with one of the prettiest girls in town.

You had to suppress a smile when you noticed Veronica Sawyer walking into the room, right behind you, her head down in shyness and the materials hugging her body like a shield. Veronica sat next to you and smiled as she exchanged a quick glance with you as she tidied up her materials.

"Hi...", you whispered, having to hide the urge to explode.

“Hi,” she replied shyly with yet another smile.

The teacher soon arrived in the room, and started talking, talking about things you didn't understand or weren't paying attention, because you was more busy looking at your tablemate. At a glance, you noticed the looks of the three Heathers, sitting awkwardly at the same table, and you quickly remembered why a chance with Veronica was impossible.

No one in Westerburg would have the courage to face a Heather.

“Before you ask me, yes, we will have double assignments this year”, the teacher began, making you more alert for the first time. “Especially because it is the time of our annual art exhibition, and I need to schedule your works exactly for the parents and teachers.”

"Do you think we'll be able to choose the pairs?", Veronica asked, very close to her ear, which gave you an unnecessary shiver. You shrugged your shoulders, trying not to hope that a work between you would work out. She would probably choose McNamara.

Life wouldn't be so good with you, not this way.

“You can choose the pairs,” the professor ordered, turning around. Chaos in the class was already in place, and you watched the three Heathers get up so they could start blackmailing the other students.

You were sure Heather McNamara was walking over to the table you and Veronica were at, but frowned when you saw her turn around.

“Hey, do you want to partner with me?”, Veronica suddenly surprised you. She was looking at you with those beautiful eyes, driving you crazy. "You know, I really like your drawing style, I think we'll do a good job at the exhibition... but only if you want to."

"No! I mean, no, of course, of course I do.”

You were shaking and your sentences were unfinished.

"Perfect! We’ll be a great duo!” she cheered, clapping her hands together. You smiled in response, so as not to look weird. For the rest of the class, you tried not to think about JD and his reaction when he found out.

“You can't be serious!” he yelled. "You can not be serious!"

“I'm sorry, J, but she really wants to do the work today, and we've got two weeks to go!” you tried to ease the tension as you leaned across the kitchen table and held the phone to your ear. “The other days I promise I'll stay with you, honey. Just try to understand, okay?”

“Sometimes I feel like you hate me, (Y\N).”

That was not a good phrase. It definitely wasn't. Because JD used all kinds of triggers and ways to manipulate and blackmail you emotionally. And he was so good at it that it made you feel guilty for his actions.

At this point, you were wondering if you shouldn't cancel the work with Veronica and leave it for another date, just to be with him.

“No, I don't hate you, JD!” you held your pose. “Of course not, I just need to get this job done before the deadline, okay? Try to understand this, dear, please.”

"You could have chosen another pair...", he whispered on the other side. "I don't like the way she looks at you."

Luckily, the doorbell rang before you could answer or even think about it. With a dry parting sentence, you rushed to answer it, preparing yourself not to be embarrassed to see Veronica Sawyer in her house, in front of you.

She was simple, much more natural and beautiful than she had been at school. You liked that version of Veronica, the version you knew before she became a popular girl. It suited her better.

“Am I late?” she asked, analyzing his tense expression.

"No! No!”, you replied instantly. “It's fine at the appointed time, come in, make yourself comfortable!” now was the time to change the subject before things got awkward between the two of you. “Have you thought about what we're going to do? What painting are we going to do?”

She smiled, approaching the table and tossing some art magazines for you to see. Still acting uncomfortable, thinking about JD and his mixed feelings, you tried to pay attention only to the drawings, but every now and then, her gaze escaped her.

“(Y\NN), you look weird...”, Veronica suddenly caught his attention. "Did something happen?"

Your lips twitched. "No. I'm great."

“It's JD, isn't it?” she caught you in the hop. "Nothing personal, (Y\N), but this guy must be a pain in the ass...", her laugh was mocking. “Seriously, how do you do it?”

“JD is a great boy, Veronica.”

You had no idea why you were getting defensive like that. On the one hand, you felt obligated to defend your boyfriend, the man you loved, but on the other hand, it felt wrong to be using it to mask your feelings for your classmate, even in front of her.

You disguised it badly, and you were a hundred percent sure she was suspicious of your feelings for her.

"Anyway, let's get back to work..." you whispered, focused.

She glanced at you and smiled. "The work. Sure."

As much as the work gained a more tense atmosphere after that conversation, you and Veronica managed to dribble it and continued to organize the art in the planned way, which made you very satisfied.

Obviously, that work wasn't going to be the only moment of distraction between the two of you, and you expected that. When she left her house, she quickly asked if you could go to the mall sometime, just for shopping, or for a moment together without thinking about school.

That request didn't let you sleep for days. And reflected on your behavior.

“Damn, (Y\N), are you really paying attention to what I said?”

You faced JD, who had the usual Slushie in his hands. He stared at you frustrated, waiting for your answer, making you shake from head to toe.

“Oh, sure, I heard, honey,” you replied quickly. “We can arrange a date yes, just the two of us, I miss you too.”

He smiled. “Perfect,” JD held out the glass toward her. “Would you like a sip, love?”

“Actually, I…”

“(Y\NN)!”

You closed your eyes, feeling like you were screwed from the moment you heard that voice. Veronica approached the two of you, clearly noticing JD but not saying a word about it. Your boyfriend stared at the girl with an expression of pure disgust, but he disguised it when he saw you looking at him.

“Are you really ready for today?”, Veronica asked. "We're going to spend hours in that mall, I hope you don't mind!"

“Oh, yes, of course!” you smiled. "I'll stop by your house at two?"

JD stood up, and you felt like he was going into the most dangerous way possible. With a glance at you, he proceeded to stare at Veronica with the same killer gaze as before, and in the face of her confused response, he gripped her arm tightly.

"Listen, if you think you're going to steal my girlfriend like this..."

“JD!” you yelled, hoping he could hear you. Your boyfriend had grabbed Veronica by the collar, not afraid to attract anyone's eyes. Even the Heathers were watching, disgusted, but still very attentive. “Let Veronica go. She is not to blame for anything.”

“She's going to steal you from me, can't you see?!” he shook her body tightly. “From the beginning, this has been Veronica Sawyer's dirty plan, to steal you from me. And you are corresponding, unfortunately.”

Your brow furrowed.

“JD, seriously. Let her go.”

He glared at you, faced her again, and brutally released Veronica's body. She slumped into the chair and glanced at the two of you as you approached your boyfriend with a rising anger in your eyes.

“What do you think you're doing with that?” you spit out the words. "I know, you want to create chaos in here, don't you?"

"Chaos is what killed the dinosaurs, honey..." he smiled. "I just want to teach those petulant humans a lesson who think they can ruin our happiness like this, all of a sudden...", he held you close to him. "You are mine. Mine forever. It’s just the two of us from now on, okay?”

Your anger grew so much that you couldn't even measure the force of the blow. It hit JD right in the eye, from what you figured when he ducked. Only things would get worse, because you should never have teased a boy like him.

"No..." he huffed. "Damn it! What the fuck, (Y\N)?”

And all of a sudden, your boyfriend gave you a blow that threw you on the table, and made you hit your head on the edge, slipping and falling as the world went out in front of her.

When you woke up, the first thing you noticed was your blurred vision, which was made worse by looking into the stark white light of the hospital room. Your body was still numb, soft as jelly, and you had no sense of time there. Despite the numbness, you could still hear the sounds of people talking in the hallway.

And you could hear a heavy sigh right next to you.

As you looked up and looked to the side, he could see Veronica sitting in an old yellow armchair next to your mother. She was sleeping, and your mother was wide awake, looking up. As soon as she noticed your sudden movement, she nudged Veronica quickly.

“(Y\N)!” you mom yelled, startling you. “Oh, thank God! I thought it would take a little longer for you to wake up!” she smiled, stroking your hair. “How do you feel, dear?”

"What-"

“No, no, no need to talk,” she interrupted you. “They've given you a good dose of painkillers now, you won't feel anything for a little while and you'll probably get some more sleep. Do not worry about that."

“Mom”, you sighed, feeling a pang in your chest at the fact. "What happened? Where is JD?”

She looked at Veronica, still asleep in the armchair, and then back at you.

"Jason Dean is being interrogated right now, I hope," your mother said in a serious tone. "Oh dear, I don't know what happened, but when your friend arrived with Mrs. Fleming and said you were out, all I wanted most was for justice to be done."

"And how do you know that..." you tried to say, flashes of the fight with JD flashing through your mind.

"She told me. She's been here the whole time, honey."

You looked up to meet Veronica, who was awake now, her gaze far away. When you finally caught her eye, she jumped up immediately from the chair and stood beside your bed, her face pale with fear.

“Damn, (Y\NN), you gave us quite a scare!”, Veronica said in a rude tone, but with no intention of hurting you. "Don't ever do that again, okay?"

“Veronica, JD-”

Your heart began to pound as she approached you and touched your hand, causing a shock that had nothing to do with the effects of the meds.

“It's okay now, (Y\NN), he can't hurt us here anymore,” she whispered. "I'm so sorry, honey, I'm so sorry!"

"You were right Ronnie, he's a pain in the ass..."

She smiled. “Forget it, (Y\NN), rest now, okay?”

"I'm glad you came..." you whispered, feeling sleep slowly consume your body, a relaxing effect. “I like having you with me, Ronnie. You will stay, won't you?”

“I will,” she replied, looking at her mother. "I'm not leaving, I promise."

Still squeezing your hand, she leaned in slowly to kiss your forehead, and your heart fluttered even more, the gauge almost went crazy, but then it went back to normal. With a smile, you closed your eyes, hoping you could see Veronica again when she woke up, pain free of course.

No more competitions, you thought before erasing. Enough with pain in the asses.

Your choice was already made. And when you woke up, you would directly talk to the person about them.

You couldn't run away from your feelings anymore. Even if you had to face the fury of three little girls in colorful clothes for that.
